  1. Franck Molko aka Peter Francks kicks off live performances at The HopStore this evening at 2.30pm SL time.

Franck is a talented songwriter/musician and performs  his own original songs in his performance along with songs from some of his favorite singers.  Having played since the age of 14 with a break in between to pursue a business career he is now back on the music scene in rl playing in a Bluesband and performing solo.  We are now fortunate to be able to have him perform  in The HopStore today.

  2. I've never owned an apple product in my life but that doesn't mean I don't recognise the contribution Steve Jobs made to the technology industry - and as such to everyone across the planet. He fought a good fight and he will be missed by many.

Bill Gates did a lovely tribute to him last night.

  3. The HopStore - it's an  Irish Pub, Music Bar & Hangout all in one. It's purely for fun so no fortunes to be made.

I'll be DJing (of a sort) from 2pm. From time to time there are Live Acts (as and when finances allow). It's in UK timezone so at the moment (as it's just me)  Fridays & Saturdays will be 'open' from 2ish till whenever ish. During the week usually 12-2pm (work next day).

Looking for DJs who actually like music to make the place their own - not so much dance DJs (no offence intended) The HopStore is definitely not a dance club.

    Anyway the party starts 2pm today - Friday 30th Sept 2011... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Philereme/71/55/78

    Everyone welcome - as it's a pub it's adult avis only :-)

OHHH - it's great Aunt Mable - I always wondered what happened to her after that party - would never have guessed she was an alien...

    ...then again...

    The first lesson is free:

    - Don't
    ever
mention religion, politics, race, gender, age, sexual orientation or, most importantly, Linden Lab policies!

    :smileytongue:

Erm... what is there to talk about then... ???

Indeed, and we are learning every day.

A new type of supernova was recently discovered, for example:

It's fascinating stuff and I've always kinda wished I was smart enough to be an astrophysicist! One day, it is them who will bring humanity to a true understanding of our place in the universe. I wish I could be around to see that momentous day too, because it should finally bring to an end some of the more ... fanatstical ... beliefs people hold about our place in the universe. Beliefs that are, generally speaking, at the root of much that is wrong with humanity and holds it back. (I tired to say that as uncontroversially as I could ... did I suceed?!) :smileywink:

    FIFY!  :smileywink:

Pfft - I have a feeling I should be insulted or something like that - but pour me out a decent pint and I'll get over it...

I have had a few such moments in my SL - though sadly not lately.

I remember when escort clubs (like your Las Princesas) were not wholly about sex but about making friends and being in good company - that was before voice and cam made it all a bit too 'real'. :smileysad:

Thanks, Mags. You are imagining the club exactly as it was. There were no poseballs and it was considered gauche to actually say things in open chat to someone about an encounter. Of course the regular open chat would make a sailor blush, but that was all just us having fun. I can tell from what you said that you know exactly what I mean.

I'm glad to see you back on the Forums after a couple of weeks away. We missed you.

    Edited for spelling

*Waves - some threads can't be ignored.

Great thread Dillon - maybe it's just a 'certain generation' in SL - but this thread made me smile a lot today.

While I do like this suggestion, I believe there already is a forum that would be suitable for these types of posts, namely the Favorite Destinations forum. I know my home is one of my favorite destinations.

I think a "Vanity thread" about people's homes posted in the Favorite Destinations forum would be sufficient enough to get the ball rolling. As a matter of fact I was planning on starting one myself once I had the time to take pics of my cute little skybox (life's been rather hectic lately... lol). Maybe someone can beat me to it.

    ...Dres

Great idea and was sort of what I was thinking of - but couldn't quite get it :matte-motes-sunglasses-3:

I encourage anyone to consider giving a home to a real animal rather than a virtual one if your choice is one or the other. They will love you forever.

Still...these meeroos are making me want to punch my screen, lol

    KK - I believe you...

... and I agree with you.

I think SL animals can add atmosphere to a place but I have a wee bit of a problem 'getting' the breedable thing I guess.

Some of my best SL times were the spontaneous 'group' moments when things happened just like you described and became something out of the ordinary. There have also been more 'private' (not that - filthy mind) when something almost mundane was lifted to become special by the the people involved allowing a bit more of themselves to shine through than the pretty avatar. Actually I can't describe it at all - but you pretty much nailed it.

Of course we will be mocked by those who insist that SL is but a game and everyone in it is RPing and as such - nothing is real.

They have no idea what they are missing :smileyhappy:

It's not about 'vanity' to me. It's about appreciating the creators who make Second Life a great place to virtually live. Without terraformers, texture creators, scripters, builders, furniture makers, scupt makers, Second Life would be a flat and boring grid .We should appreciate and respect the people who make Second Life a place that is functional, full of beauty, full of fun and a place that is unique to any other virtual platform.

We have a fashion forum which is great, without fashion designers we wouldnt be able to express ourselves through our avatars.  Our homes are another extension of our virtual expression.  It would be great to have a place in the Community Forum to show appreciation to the builders of Second Life.

So in that case maybe the 'Building' sub forum would be the place - like the fashion sub forum covers everything not ust the 'creative problem aspects' of fashion.

Erm - I know what I mean :smileyindifferent:

  14. At the risk of sounding like a cranky old git ... wait I AM a cranky old git...

Right, so then - I'm not sure Home & Garden needs a whole forum sub topic to itself - rather an occasional thread blooming up somewhere appropriate - IMO a whole forum would become boring and over populated with people possibly showing their 'wares for sale' (as Void kinda said). Maybe LL should create another 'Vanity - avatar, fashion & Home & Garden ' Forum (not not that precise name) where people who love such pictorial type threads could have a right good time.

Just a sort of compromise suggestion.

This is addressed to the OP but for some reason the software won't let me do that properly.
