  1. UPDATE: I have normal FPS with everything enabled using the beta SL viewer 2.8.1. Try that one. I haven't played with it long enough to report any issues, but my FPS problems went away as soon as I loaded it. Cheers!
  2. If you decide to roll back to 2.7.5, go here. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/2.7.5
  3. Ok yeah, I'm thinking this is a problem with the Mac OS viewer, even though with most versions that Mac viewer has been more stable than the Windows viewer (i run both sometimes for kicks)
  4. yeah. it might be a bug in the Mac OS version. I use a 27" iMac, 3.33, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon 512 MB Graphics. usually push 40-50 FPS on average, with 2.8 it SUCKS. I'm rolling back to 2.7. Turn off shaders and your performance will improve. but what's the fun in THAT? LOL
  5. I'm having the exact same problem. What are your system specs (OS, hardware, etc...)? I'd like to compare and see what's causing it. I had to turn off shaders to move around.
  6. MY FPS tanked as soon as I upgraded. Crap. Absolute crap. I'm rolling back to 2.7 immediately.

So basically you'd rather complain about it in here than actually contact the people who can help you? Really? Chat support isn't hard, you know. Sometimes takes a few minutes to get through to someone, but you make it sound like it's difficult to get help.

  9. I'd be ok if they simply charged Wasted every time he spams the forums. Wait, he has no money, that wouldn't work. **bleep**.
  10. If you violate the rules of a sim, you will most likely be banned. If you didn't read the rules, it's your own fault for not reading the rules. You can call it power tripping all you want, but it appears that you broke the rules and are now talking smack about the staff at that club for banning you for breaking the rules. Cheers!
  11. That makes sense. 1.23 is way out of date. I wouldn't imagine LL would continue to implement service changes with the old 1.x UI in mind. It's kind of like wondering why you can use a certain piece of software in Windows 7, but darn it, it won't work with your copy of Windows 3.1 on your 486. LOL! Cheers!

To rephrase it, I should maybe say like roleplaying communities where adults can act like children and be children avatars. Also I took a look at the Second Life Childhood Network and it hasn't been updated since January 2, 2011. Best bet then...do a search inworld on "child" or "teen" or similar words. Jan 2nd wasn't that long ago, so i'd bet that database is pretty up to date, however, the inworld search should yield more recent hits as well. Sorry I can't be more help than that, I don't RP a kid, so my personal experience is limited. Good luck! Cheers!
  13. If it looks like someone's home, avoid it. Granted, a smart homeowner would install a security system to warn you, but still...better to err on the side of caution. Cheers!
  14. The SL wiki is a good place to start. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki Infohubs are good places for newbies to get advice inworld as well. Check the destination guide under "newcomer friendly" Good luck, and welcome to second life. We were all new once, and it can be a little confusing at first. Give it a few weeks or so and you'll get the hang of it. I've been on SL for over 2 years and I learn something new every day, it seems. Cheers!
  15. This might come as a shock to my fellow forumites, but I actually spent as much time inworld as i did before the forum went down. I love SL. :smileyvery-happy:
  16. Does this mean we're homeless? EEP!
  17. This happened to me once. I restarted my sim, and the prims went away. Give it a try.
  18. My first avatar looked very similar to the RL me. It takes a little time and effort, but you might appreciate the end result a bit more if you put it together yourself. Was definitely worth the time spent in my opinion. Cheers!
  19. Giving up entirely on IE is a good thing. Your experience on the internetz will be much more rewarding because of it.
  20. Well, there are many. I dare say there's nothing that I would classify as the "IT" viewer, because so many people have so many different opinions on it. For me, viewer 2 is the most stable viewer out there. I'm also wary of viewers that attempt to use an archaic user interface that the company has abandoned. So anything based on the old interface is out of the question for me, as far as daily usage is concerned. I tend to be more concerned with textures loading in a timely manner and the viewer not crashing frequently than whether or not an item was moved to a different menu, so for me performance is key. For some people, having the reassurance of still having a pie menu and not having to move the mouse half an inch to the right to click a button is more important than performance, so yeah...not sure if there is an "IT" viewer out there because different players have different priorities. If i had an old computer that couldn't handle V2, I'd use the TPVs more often. I used to use Emerald on an aging laptop while commuting to and from work, actually. So far, I mess around with Kirsten's and Phoenix just for the sake of testing things on multiple platforms, both seem to work reasonably well, although I find Phoenix to be a lot slower than the actual LL viewer and Kirsten's is not nearly as stable. Phoenix also looks HORRIBLE to me, but then again that is also a personal opinion based on the fact that I'm accustomed to v2. As always, your mileage may vary. Cheers!
  21. Good point actually. There is a "continue shopping" link when you add something to your cart, but it doesn't appear when you are simply looking at the product page. Might be nice to have in case you have a "wardrobe malfunction" with your web browser as you did. Cheers!
  22. you tell your SL hubby to go f**k himself and find a man who isn't a jealous, paranoid child. Honestly, Reece, it's none of his damn business how many alts (if any) you have. Stand up for yourself and tell him he can take a hike if he doesn't like it. Misogyny doesn't have any more place in SL than it does in RL, imo.
