  1. My maturity setting is on everything but I tried a couple of those and see what you do but on quite a few I get "it doesnt exist" or "You do not have access to that destination". Alts have the same issue too on different viewers.  I have never really had this issue before on so many sims. It would happen occasionally on dead ones. Can you get blacklisted by IP address?

Edit: I reset my IP address with my ISP to get a new one  and cleared browser cache, rebooted router and computer and it seems to have fixed it a bit allowing entry to the majority of sims I couldnt before. All the search results come up correct now. there must have been a bug a reset was needed for.

  2. I get my Viewer to hide the LL library and that clears heaps of junk and delete any demo stuff  or unneeded things.

I always make category folders with sub category folder of creator   for things like hair  and when I buy something it goes straight in that or I forget it.

For clothes I just used organised outfits usually numbered or using keywords. For most things I use often I just remember it.

That additional received items addition to the inventory menu has been a godsend for finding things too.

  3.  Just this last year so many sims I have frequented or a couple I used to rent land on not so long ago are gone and those had been around for ages. I can still see some of the names in the map search but its impossible to TP to them.  I typed in "Angel" and there used to be a plethora of sims containing that name you could visit and now there is a handful with all the rest greyed out but still showing the sims name. Does anyone know what happened?

  4. Surely the joy of helping another person is reward in itself Smiley Wink <- Has been one of my attractions to SL because its so complicated when you start, or even along a bit there usually is no end of considerate helpful people either helping someone or contributing tangibly to ebveryones experience inworld. You get nothing for it excpt a good feeling inside that you acted like the people that did it for you.

  5. I'm not sure if this helps you but about a year ago I had to make a video for work with flowing water and ultrasonic sensors in a pipe so i drew it in PS and put it on a prim in SL  and animated the waterflow and signal using scripts and textures on prims. To capture that video I used quicktime on my Mac by drawing a rectangle over where I wanted the video to be. it was lots easier than animating it in iMovie.

You might be able to do something like that inside your Ui  by selecting the area inside it, I  hope that helps.

  6. Just like any social media thing arguing is what they thrive on as they do it for attention, the more you feed it the more you give them what they want. Mute, block unfriend, ban from land etc is the only way, your arguing wont save everyone else that is thier job,  horrible words are plain to see for everyone anyway.  Hope that helps a bit.

  7. Could be! I installed The Firestorm viewer on both MBP and iMac as a standard install and set both graphics about the same the slider and left antialiasing off on both but the colours on the 5K screen brought it to life compared to the MBP retina display. The point I have been trying to make is the 5K screens can produce a greater range of colours so the little things that really weren’t looking good before start to look much better and stand out.  Wood grain is a good example as the browns transition from light to dark is nicer to look at.  The higher amount of pixels is no major advantage with Cartoons usually but a broader range of colours seems to be.

  8. Considering how low quality many of the old textures are in SL  you would have to wonder if the extra expense is justified. Fair enough if your playing Call of duty  or something similar but Half the textures in SL are old and crappy low resolution ones anyway if they are from years ago. the 2 Gig  MD Radeon R9 M390 I have been using is doing fine, and i dont think much  gain would be made because so much is server side and lag etc is there.

  9. You could use any Mac from the last 8 years to use SL, with a later one looking substantially better because of the retina screens and video cards.  Largely your experience inworld is determined by by your viewer and the settings you chose. Setting your graphics options set to suit your machine and internet network speed will greatly enhance your ability to see a nicer faster picture. Reducing the amount of scripts your wearing like attachments or huds including them will impact lag greatly.  Using a PC or mac will be no difference as it is hardware dependent not operating system dependent.  I use Windows in Bootcamp  on my mac and it looks exactly the same as OSX. For a slower machine the alchemy viewer is considerably less laggy.

  10. I just tried a new later 2015 5K Retina display iMac playing SL this week and the difference is unbelievable to the point where it brings some realism to a virtual world so I decided to do a review.

These high resolution screens can produce more colours which is what I immediately noticed. Hair had shine and textures on furniture changed and appeared better than I have ever seen it on a prim before. One thing I was really impressed with was I could leave antialiasing off on the Mac and still have a nice picture without jaggies and that was a graphics boost in itself allowing faster movement walking without the jerkiness antialiasing produces. Setting your graphics to halfway between mid and high is all that’s needed for  fantastic scenery. Much of my time in world is spent chatting or building so a fast framerate from a high end graphics card is no real advantage but a beautiful gamut of colours sure is.

For a comparison I put a new MacBook pro with a retina display next to it in the Catwa store and the results were chalk and cheese with the 5K screen miles in front.  The timber detail and light reflections in the store as well forest and beach sims afterward were a definite Wow!

Buying one especially for SL at the current buy in price is a bit steep but if you need to upgrade your hardware in the future a high definition screen for your PC sometime its worthy of consideration, and for content creators would give an edge for making things now for when they become mainstream.

  11. That what I thought and why i stopped selling them. I assumed the things looking like movie stuff  would be banned etc in time but doesnt seem to be. Truth be known I dont need the money it raises and dont really care but only  made them for the fun of it! I wouldnt attempt to sell again if  I wasnt asked so many times over the last few years.

I made a car seat too and if you went through every model car ever built it probably violates something..

  12. When the Movie Avatar came out I thought I might make an a  sculpted prim (before mesh) SL avatar attachment for those who role play. I made an ad and put on the marketplace and probably did too good a job of the ad because I got in trouble and my account suspended. I didnt check my email address for a month and didnt read the warnings that could have avoided it.

I hadnt thought about copyright infingement but agree the marketplace is no place for something so similar.

Inworld the movie theme sims seem to be a kind copyright infringement everywhere and it seems to be tolerated. The question is many people keep asking me to sell those items I made and is it ok to sell inworld at one of those sims. I dont want to infringe copyright or do something illegal.

For instance, I enjoy making money but I wouldn't describe it as fun.

I have made some money in SL but making light  something funny and laughing with someone else (who doesnt take themselves seriously)  doing the same is a highlight.

It can be soo funny and one of the reasons I play it.

Another reason is because there is many lonely people in Sl escaping something in thier lives and you can listen and try to cheer them up. That can be more satisfying than anything.

  14. One way you can reduce  the downloads is to  reduce the quality of your graphics you are presented with in your browser to low.  Reducing the draw distance means less needs to be downloaded every time you  teleport or move.

The best idea is to get a good computer and a fast LAN wired internet service with lots of download allowance. Playing SL a few times a day or  for extended periods every week might give you possibly a  30- 50 Gb increase  in your data usage each month.
