Massive script time reporting Changes now
dd Temin replied to dd Temin's topic in Second Life Server
I honestly Hope you are right.......But if the Lindens had made this type of massive improvement in script times (3x to 4 x reduction), don't you think they would be shouting it from the rooftops of what a great improvement they had just made? As opposed to not even mentioning it. -
Massive script time reporting Changes now
dd Temin replied to dd Temin's topic in Second Life Server
@ Jenna Huntsman "What you're seeing there is something on the backend has changed (*ahem* configuration changes) which has allowed the scripts on that region to execute much faster, thus allowing for more scripts to run per tick." I seriously doubt that there has been some magical change/fix found and implemented by the Lindens to suddenly make scripts run 3 to 4 times more efficiently after 16 years! It is far more likely that the Lindens have simply made an error in how script times are calculated/reported for this last server update and are keeping quiet about it while they try to figure out what went wrong this time. Any comments by Henri Beauchamp would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -
All residents are now seeing massive changes in script time reporting in both statics script time and Region Debug Top script times since the 17 Jan 22 update! Could the Lindens please give us an update on how all script times have suddenly been reduced by 1/3 to 1/4 of their historical values? Actually ,I am pretty sure this is a screw up by the Linden programmers.

"Spare script time" in statistics and "Top scripts" in region Debug are now totally different ! Has no one noticed ??? Since the Jan 17 2022 main ch roll script times are now 1/3 to 1/4 of their normal value. in both statistics and Region debug top scripts. The Lindens have not mentioned this at all. Whats going on please?

Deploy Plan for the Week of 2021-07-19

Would you mind explaining exactly what you mean by "issues at the Machine level"? What machines? where are they? -
@ Monty Linden: One other effect i have notice with Total script time (shown in statistics) is that when the lindens update the server version and restart the regions is that the total script script times shown in Statistics immediately drops down about 3 to 5 ms with the same exact residents and number of residents in the region. Then as the days pass, the total script time slowly increases until after about a week it has increased 3 to 5 ms. If the region owner restarts the region..total script time does not seem to drop back down by 3=5 ms. only see the decrease when the Lindens restart or update the region. Just to give some actual numbers of my region top script time total is 6.5 ms. and statistics total script time is 18- 19.5 ms. this is a HUGE difference !

Deploy Plan for the Week of 2021-04-05
dd Temin replied to Maestro Linden's topic in Second Life Server
@Maestro Linden was wondering if when I restart my region as estate manager...does my actual physical server normally jump to a "different" server? like they used to when the region servers were located at Linden Labs? Does anyone know? -
Yes i agree that Animats explanation only accounts for a very small portion of the discrepancy . The difference between the top scripts time and the script time shown in statistics is very large, in my region the difference is 6 ms total v/s 18 ms total script time. I have also noticed that restarting the region seems to decrease the statistics script time by about 3 ms in my region. however this still leaves a discrepancy of 9 ms between the two measurements.

Greetings.....No..Chrome will not run SL. However there is an altenate method , The chrome OS has a "Developer mode " that allows you to install a linux operating system that can run in parallel with the Chrome OS. Then once Linux is installed you can download a 64 bit Singularity viewer for Linux. And install that to log into SL. However there are several Acer chromebooks on the market now. The only ones that have enough graphic performance for SL are Acer C720 with a 4th generations intel processor(haswell) or a C720 with 5th generation intel processor)Broadwell) The one you mentioned will NOT work as it has a lower graphics performance Tigra processor. So if you buy and Acer Chromebook...make darn sure it has a 4th or 5 th generation intel processor. i have installed linux Unbutu on 4 different Chrome books,,,added singularity viewer and run SL in Mediun to high graphics. here is a link to my YouTube video to see how SL looks on a Acer chromebook.

llAttachToAvatarTemp fails at any hud attach points
dd Temin replied to dd Temin's topic in LSL Scripting
Thank you Miss Loon and Miss Corvair for your quick helpful response. I found that it works fine with my friend who is using a different viewer. I suspect that my very much older cool viewer is why its not working. Ill up_date my old viewer later tonite and see if this has fixed it for me. Thanks again dd -
Greetings,,,,,,having trouble getting llAttachToAvatarTemp(ATTACH_CENTER_1); to attach a hud object. All of the Hud attach locations fail silently. It does ask for permissions to attach... , i click yes... but then silently fails to attach. It works fine on all other Attach points on the body....but fails at hud attach points. Anyone else seeing this issue: or have a way to make llAttachToAvatarTemp command work for hud attach points? thanks for any help....
