  1. Seasons Greetings! The Second Life Web Team has been busy working on our Naughty and Nice lists across a number of different projects. We aim to keep the stockings coal free and bring you festive treats! Thanks to the Jiras you file, we hear what’s bugging you and what features you’d like. Please take a look and, as always, let us know what you think. We look forward to your comments and bug reports in Jira Here’s a quick breakdown of some recent fixes and a new feature we’ve deployed. Self-service Redelivery for copy items! (My Marketplace -> My Account -> Order History) No copy items redelivery process makes it more clear to the merchant that it’s a no-copy item: No-copy items will have a little "NO" icon (circle with a line through it) next to the redelivery link, with a click-to-popup message explaining what it means. No-copy items can still be redelivered, but this just makes it more clear. (This is on both the Reports -> Orders page and Orders -> Transaction History -> View Order page.) Centralized distribution page! (My Marketplace -> Merchant Home -> Reports) There is now a link for "Revenue Distributions" which displays product/collaborator/percentage for each distribution set up by that merchant Transaction History Search now allows partial matching on order number and customer name. (My Marketplace -> Merchant Home -> Transaction History ) Synching with other settings including email, preferred maturity (only if not set in MP), dob, and mesh upload status Favorite stores: wishlist sorting by store name was borked and is now unborked If you purchase something that’s on your wishlist, we’ll clear it. Distribution emails were inaccurately reporting distribution %. Stop lying, distribution emails! We no longer reset filters when searching in a sub-category. That was annoying! A store that is no longer available will give a more precise error message “We're sorry, but this store is no longer available." instead of the “So sorry to keep you waiting...” message. Flagged/blocked email for products should now list both reason header and description (instead of just header). CSV exports will no longer be malformed due to quotation marks Items in Listed/Unlisted view weren’t always properly displayed on Manage listings page. They are now. (Merchant Home -> Manage Listings. Click on the very last page of results, and then click on listed or unlisted, and it should return you to the first page of results.) Background work to make sure name changes work correctly with MP
  2. Happy Thursday everyone! We're got a great list of November Marketplace updates to share with you. In case you missed it, read all about them here Marketplace November Updates
  3. Thanks for a good catch! I've passed it along to the team and we'll get it fixed.
  4. Happy Wednesday! In case you missed it, we just deployed two great new features in Marketplace - Wishlists and Favorite Sellers. Read all about them here Marketplace Updates - The Wishing Edition
  5. Good morning everyone! I’d like to start our first thread for Environmental Enhancement Project aka EEP! EEP is a major enhancement to the legacy Windlight environments in Second Life, introducing a brand new inventory object for defining the environmental settings. EEP brings: Shareable environmental objects that you can keep in your inventory. Parcel level control of environments. Up to four different sky layers that may be set independently. More options for customization. And much, much more For those who attend the Content Creation User Group, you’ve been hearing and seeing teasers around EEP for a while. This Test Viewer is similar to Windlight, which means that you have to own land or have parcel ownership rights. Because of this, we have made a limited number of testing parcels available on Aditi at secondlife://Aditi/secondlife/EEPTesting/128/128/23. If you are interested in testing EEP, please claim 1 parcel at the above location. You will need to be running the EEP Viewer in order to buy a parcel. These parcels are for EEP testing only and once they have been claimed, we are full. As this is Aditi, our Test Grid, if parcels are not being utilized, they will be reclaimed. If you have a parcel and are done testing, please abandon it so others can take a turn. You do not need to have a parcel to experience EEP. If you fly around EEPTesting and pause in different owned parcels, you’ll see what people have been creating. There are already some amazing skies being created and we’re excited to see what you do with this! We are taking the steps to get an EEP Project Viewer to Agni as soon as possible and will let you know when you can test on Agni. Until then, have fun exploring the EEPTesting region! Download the Viewer here For more technical input, please file a Jira
  6. That's a lot of chickens!
  7. It’s exciting to have updates to the Marketplace again! Today’s batch is just the first of many as our newest developer gets their feet wet. BUG-215989 - Products are indexed with entirely wrong category names BUG-4705 - Sort the Manage Listings page newest first by default BUG-216126 - After Listing an item on MP, default page opens store with Date always defaulting from oldest to newest This is just the beginning of our work to improve Marketplace for both our merchants and for those shopping. We have a long list of changes big and small, such as: Allowing variants of a product Cleanup of Stores of closed/inactive accounts Preparing Marketplace for the upcoming Name Changes Wishlists Making a product's listing date visible to shoppers Allow merchants to choose to list multiple "Custom Avatar Brand Names" We’re looking forward to a regular cadence of updates as we whip the marketplace into shape. User Groups are a great time to let us know how you feel about these changes.
  8. Happy Tuesday! Just a reminder that we’ll have our Web User Group tomorrow at 14:00 SLT. Tomorrow will be a general Q&A format. Hope to see you there!
  9. Hi Willow! We closed the Suggestion flow for a couple of reasons. Many people were confused by its purpose and were using it as a method to reach support and not getting the support they needed. Jira Feature Requests are a better process for submitting your ideas as they are seen by a larger group of people and we can link up related ideas or duplicates. Feature Requests are also triaged weekly by the Second Life Team. Lastly, we found that it was not getting our regular attention despite our effort and realized that is unfair.
  10. Greetings all! Today I posted the Web Team Spring Deploy Update. I want to share with you a change we made. It was brought to our attention that within the Marketplace Fee and Listing Guidelines, under Disallowed Actions, it stated: “The following actions are disallowed. Note that these actions are disallowed by the Second Life Terms of Service, and are restated here for clarification. Anti-Competitive or Abusive Behavior. Examples include, but are not limited to: inflating prices on the SL Marketplace, in comparison to in-world or other e-commerce sites,” We’ve removed the section which applied to inworld stores. This was contrary to your interests and our interests. Marketplace is a tool to use in your overall product marketing strategy and if you'd like to differentiate pricing between online and inworld stores, that's your decision to make. This line now reads: Anti-Competitive or Abusive Behavior. Examples include, but are not limited to: inflating prices on the SL Marketplace or other e-commerce sites,” For more details on what we've been working on, please checkout the post. Thank you for making Second Life great!
  11. Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’re somewhere where Spring has sprung and the weather is getting warmer and the days longer. Spring so far has been eventful for the web team and we’d like to share a few highlights. With the Premium land changes we had lots of updates to make across our different pages. Work was done on Linden Homes backend updates We shared some amazing 15th Birthday News here A few notable things came out of this announcement. One of these was strong attendance at our Web User Group. Thanks go out to Inara Pey for a great blog post on the meeting We listened to your feedback and we also learned from you: It was brought to our attention that within the Marketplace Fee and Listing Guidelines, under Disallowed Actions, it stated: “The following actions are disallowed. Examples include, but are not limited to: inflating prices on the SL Marketplace or other e-commerce sites,” We have provided some new options for displaying your transaction history, which you can now easily filter by “Today,” “1 day,” “7 days,” or “28 days” with the click of a button. We have also re-enabled the search functions on the Second Life Wiki. Happy searching! Restructured account deactivation flow to provide solutions to potential issues. And finally, we would like to say a fond farewell to the Suggestion page. This page is no longer receiving your feedback. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to hear from you! If you would like to submit a Feature Request, please follow this wiki guide to Submitting Feature Requests. We know you all have wonderful ideas, and we are always interested in hearing them. As always, thank you all for making Second Life great! We love hearing from you and you can reach us at our monthly Web User Group or through Jira.
  12. Good morning everyone! Bakes on Mesh is a new feature to allow system avatar baked textures to be shown on mesh attachments. Currently you will need a special project viewer to use it. Bakes on Mesh does not depend on simulator code, so it should work in all regions and all grids. What's a baked texture and why would I want it on Mesh? If you use a standard system avatar, you can wear several texture layers to customize your skin and add tattoos and clothing layers. To save processing time and provide everyone on any system the same view of your appearance, those textures are "baked" by a server into a single combined texture. That's great, but until now if you want to use a custom mesh body part it would need its own texturing system to provide a similar ability to customize its appearance. In addition, you usually need to apply an "alpha" texture to the underlying standard avatar body part to hide it so that it doesn't interfere with your custom part. With this new viewer feature, you can apply any system skins and other layers to your avatar (you don't need or want the alpha layer), and then tell the viewer to apply the resulting baked texture to your the mesh body part; the underlying system avatar part that would otherwise have gotten those textures is hidden for you automatically. Basic Features Any face of a mesh object can be textured using one of the server baked textures. The corresponding region of the system avatar is hidden if an attached mesh is using a baked texture. Benefits Avoid the need for appliers -> easier customization workflow Avoid the need for onion avatars -> fewer meshes, fewer textures at display time Avoid the need to sell full-perm meshes. You can customize any mesh you have modify permissions for simply by setting the flags and equipping the appropriate wearables. Avatar wearables are baked into six different textures (BAKE_HEAD, BAKE_UPPER, BAKE_LOWER, BAKE_EYES, BAKE_SKIRT, BAKE_HAIR) by the baking service. You can now apply these textures to your avatar’s object attachments' diffuse texture. Right click on the attachment, click edit and from the edit face menu select textures. Click the diffuse texture icon to open up the texture picker. The texture picker has an extra radio button mode called 'bake' for selecting server bakes. The 'bake' radio button mode has a dropdown for selecting BAKE_HEAD, BAKE_UPPER, BAKE_LOWER, BAKE_EYES, BAKE_SKIRT, BAKE_HAIR server bake textures. When an attachment is using a baked texture, the corresponding base mesh region of the system avatar is hidden. If a mesh face is set to show a baked texture but is not attached to an avatar, you will see a default baked texture. If you are using an older viewer without bakes on mesh support, then faces set to show baked textures will also display as the default baked texture, and base mesh regions will not be hidden. Known Issues Detaching a mesh object that’s using BAKED_HAIR, does not make the base hair region visible. You have to log back in or teleport again. This will be fixed in an upcoming release. There are inworld Content User Group Meetings we encourage you to attend to discuss your questions and give feedback. For more information see Content User Group Download the Viewer here For more technical input, please file a Jira

  15. Happy Wednesday everyone. This winter has really flown by! With the holidays in December and the new year we’ve been busy working on all things Web! Here are a few highlights from the last few months. Place Pages search results now show in a Gallery view which includes the parcel’s image and a short description of the place. If you have a parcel marked to show in search, you have a Place Page ready & waiting for you to customize! More information on setting up your Place Pages can be found in the Knowledge Base. Internal and stability updates for Maps, Search, and Marketplace. These will enable us to do future feature work on these sites. A fix to address issues with listings unexpectedly getting archived. Another fix to make sure we don’t charge (and/or refund) PLEs on those listings. Landing pages updates, Valentine’s day themes, Download page update to support 64-bit viewers. Web User Group Meeting Update We’ve made a change to our Web User Group meetings. The meetings will now be held monthly on the last Wednesday of the month at 2:00pm SLT. You can see the schedule here. As a reminder, we’ll also be posting about the upcoming meetings and the topic a couple of days before. For a complete list of User Group Meetings and schedules, please check out Second Life User Groups . We’ve had great attendance at the last few meetings and we love hearing from you and having you share your ideas and concerns. As we say in the meetings, the best way to make sure your issues get our attention is through our bug tracking system - Jira. Whether you need to report a problem or an idea, which you think would better our products, filing Jiras gets them directly to the Product Managers, Developers and QA quickly. We look forward to seeing and hearing from you. Have a great Week!
  16. The last two months have been busy for the Web Team. Sometimes we’re busy with special projects and others times we’re working on Internal fixes and security upgrades to keep up with the times. Here is a quick overview on what we’ve been working on. The flow for adding and using existing Payment info for new residents was daunting and that’s bad. We made some changes to make it streamlined and more intuitive. New users being able to pay faster means more customers for your business! We deployed a new DMCA process and then pulled it back to make some additional changes. These changes will significantly simplify the process for content creators. We’ve added a new Web User Group! To see a list of all the user group meetings check out Linden Lab User Groups Second Life Place Pages Error opening Place Pages Edit mode. Lines of text using carriage returns do not display properly on the Markdown feature Some Region Place Pages receive an error Images with a transparent attribute causes them to overlap on Place Pages Bold and Italics do not appear while editing text in Side by Side Mode on the Markdown feature Edit Details. Change "Show in Search" Link Markdown ordered list acting funny Fixed the ToS floater in the viewer Fall updates to Secondlife.com The new viewer login screen Fixes to creating Events postings (certain characters were causing posting issues) Thank you all for making Second Life great!
