Aber nö, gemein bin ich nicht, von daher... ...jokes aside, Second Life is slowly approaching the end of its life cycle. However, this decline is exceptionally prolonged because its competitors ... such as VRChat, Sansar, Resonite, Meta Horizon, and others ... may look appealing but still lag far behind Second Life in terms of complexity. Features like rentals, regions, a robust marketplace, advertising options, in-world building tools, a true inventory system, and attachable items are unmatched by other platforms. Take VRChat, for instance ... while it offers a visually modern experience, creating anything meaningful requires external tools like Unity or Blender, and it doesn’t even have an inventory system. Compared to Second Life, this feels primitive. As long as competing platforms fail to develop systems as complex or comprehensive as those in Second Life, its prolonged life cycle will continue. In today’s world, where investors are increasingly risk-averse and innovation is often stifled by caution, Second Life’s legacy technology is likely to persist for a very long time. The only real threat to Second Life’s longevity would be the emergence of a competitor capable of taking significant market share or profits away from Linden Lab. For that to happen, a completely new platform would likely need to be developed from scratch to address the technological limitations of Second Life’s aging architecture. However, the failure of projects like Sansar ... Linden Lab’s own attempt to innovate ... demonstrates the risks of competing in this space. Sansar launched too early, struggled to find a market fit, and was eventually abandoned and sold. In conclusion, we shouldn’t expect anything groundbreaking from Linden Lab at this stage. They’ve already achieved something remarkable by creating and maintaining the most advanced virtual world in an era when such a technological marvel was far from mainstream. Instead, let’s appreciate each small update or upgrade to Second Life while/before it continues on its journey through the "last mile" of its existence.

Avatar distorted/not loading fully on mobile viewer

The video's was taken today and (yes you should have watched the full video), the avatars are fully loaded some seconds afterward, but still deformed. I don't have recorded more because this deformation lasts (irrelevant how long you wait). OS: iOS 18.1.1 Device: iPhone 16 Pro Max SecondLife (Mobile) Version: v0.1.525 -

The SecondLife Mobile Viewer Beta is now available for Non-Premium members, too. I'm just curious, are we talking about this issue on IOS? Desktop - What it should look like: Link Mobile - How it looks actually to me: Link I don't wear any deformes, and it appears that this affects others, too. -
From time to time Firestorm flickers black, which only disappears when you restart the application. I don't know this behavior from any other application, but since some Firestorm versions this can occur earlier or later in the day. At first I thought it might be due to too much performance or RAM not being available to Firestorm, but nothing else is running except Firestorm. This is really strange, which is why I wanted to ask here if anyone knows such a behavior and can better classify how this happens and whether it can be prevented. What you mean is: https://developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#1.2 It is user-generated content, what SL is by themself. But we're talking about adult-regions here. Offering SL Client via Sideloading without restrictions would be a better option. Sure, currently only available for EU citizens. But if more big companys offer the apps also via sideloading, Apple will also get force from other countrys or the US, to allow sideloading too. (it is just a matter of time)

I can't login, because my home is a adult parcel and most LMs are also very often adult-rated. Without adult-content, this viewer ist just... a cheap joke? It would be the best to offer the client outside of the Appstore. Does Google Play has the same issue?

I have noticed a few times that sometimes objects do not show up on arrival at a new SIM/Region. These can be eyes, pieces of clothing, or even large parts of the environment. Right-clicking on the objects does not help them to reappear. The only way to display them again is to zoom beyond the limitation and jump back with the camera, and then everything will reappear. You can see this clearly in the video with the trees. I have experienced this problem for a long time, on two different computers (Windows) and at high settings (Ultra). Reinstalling the operating system has not changed anything. Is this bug common? Or does SecondLife don't like NVidia cards?

Boobs, large Boobs, huge boobs... hair for every size of our chest... buuuuut... what's about the ones without such big cups? Are there any good hair creators who already focusing to support the petite chests who are currently out there? I wear for example Maitreya Petite, but it would be nice to find also long hair which doesn't hover over our chest because it was made for vanilla mesh and big-boob-attachments only.

When you edit the object of an HUD and scroll to see everything out of the viewport (hud-area) there is a white rectangle, to make aware, what you can see and what not. I would like to remove it, because I would like to reduce the scale of my HUDs. Have now a 4k monitor but can't make use of the benefitis of it, when the HUDs just don't scale with resolution. In Firestorm I wasn't able to recduce the HUD size (1.00 is the minimum scale), but with a Debug-Setting called HUDScaleFactor it seems to work. But you see the white frame/rectangle then... is there a way to remove it?

Is there a way to export or duplicate Firestorm-AO-Profiles? I would like to copy one of my profiles and change some animations on the go. Thanks to the UI, it feels very comfortable. But I didn't found out how to copy/duplicate profiles or export them to reimport them.

I understand what you mean with the SIM, but not with the port. Why does the SIM trys to access a UDP port, for which reason? -

Which deal? Do you mean the Premium-offer? This is only for the monthly-fee and applys only once. Yeah, I think I will look into different forms. Thank you. -

I talked already with a Landlord, he said this wouldn't work out, but thanks for the idea. The problem is the land-tool only selects in 4m square-steps. So 20 would be to less and 24 would be toggle the 5 USD tier. And if this is toggled because you have some qm more then 512qm, then you can just buy a 1024 for it. -
Hello *waves* I want to buy land on the mainland to use my inclusive-tier of the Premium. I've a skybox in this size which I like, but now I found out that most 512qm parcels are rectangle-shaped. Aren't there square-shaped parcels on the Mainland anymore?

What's about an event? Is there also a event to check if the avatar sit or doesn't sit anymore on a object? (without an timer?)

Also in den verlinkten Jira-Eintrag kann ich nicht kommentieren oder voten. Wurde das abgestellt? Ansonsten ist das schon leicht deskriminierend was sie da mit den Umlauten tun, ein technisches Problem duerften Umlaute im Zeitalter von UTF-Encoding nicht mehr wirklich geben. Ansonsten waere es selbst kein Problem mit Javascript hier eine Bruecke zu schaffen (3 Zeilen Code) , aber anscheinend ist ihnen das nicht einmal wichtig genug. Schade, ich bin entaeuscht.

Wäre interessant und nett von dir wenn du uns auf dem laufenden halten koenntest/wuerdest. Mir ist sowas zum Glueck noch nicht passiert, aber wie sagt man immer: "Sag niemals nie." Ansonsten weißt du sicherlich schon bestimmt, Passwort komplizierter und länger machen. Kein Wort, mit Sonderzeichen, Groß und Kleinschreibung sowie Zahlen. Ich schaetze aus dem Grund habe ich bisher wohl noch Glueck gehabt.

Some minutes ago I head the same bug. I needed some time to realize that I've to refresh the shot (image) before save them. -
Greetings, I want to know if long variable/function names or long comments have any disadvantages for the script, that we wrote. (disadvantage for performance or memory) At the beginning I tryed to write with short variable, function names and made the comments to a minimum, because I thought this could be produce a bad impact to the script. But since Mono, I'm not sure. Now... some years later, in other script-languages I working with long self explainig names and comments. But there it isn't really a problem, because these script-languages allowing clean and minfiy possibilitys. Hope anyone can share his/her experience about that.

Greetings, I used the "eye03" and "eye05" animation from Anypose to let the eyes look down (and down-right). But now I relized that after I stopped these animations, the avatar don't following the camera foucs unti I log off and on again. In AnyPose HUD is a release button, but it seems not to work. So I would ask, if it is possible to release the eyes after animation again? I thought already to start the built-in animation, but the wiki sayed that these built-in animations can't be started or stopped by scripts. So... is there a way to release the eyes again, to follow the camera focus. Or is relog the only soulution?
