I guess for example that in the summertime people are not as much inworld to use money, as in the wintertime? Have you noticed any difference? I have to agree with others for the most part, although it seems to fluctuate for me based on my activity. For example, in 2011, my sales were higher in the spring and lower in the fall and winter. Why? Because I took a break from SL during those months. my store was still up and I was coming in now and then to check on everything but I wasn't actively marketing anything. I was barely doing any hunts. Basically just doing the bare minimum. However, 2012, was a year I marketed fairly consistently through the entire year and you can see a definite increase from August to November over the earlier spring months. December was rather slow, but I think that's because so many are on holiday in RL. But if you look at 2013 it picks right back up in January and continues to remain high during the winter months, all the way through April. Now it's May, and I'm not seeing a slowdown yet. We're barely half way through the month and my sales are pretty much just as high as as they have been since January.I'm including my graph chart of my trending for the past 4 years so you can see. I took out the numbers so all you can see is the trend (some people got a little uppity about that last time I left in numbers). Anyway, the point is, for the majority I think you will see an increase in fall and winter, but you can definitely keep it going through spring and summer if you actively market. For those of us making an actual income at this, I think we almost have to if we want to keep the paychecks coming in on a regular basis.

Why these third party exchanges were able to pay so much faster, maybe because they were not responsible for fraud cases themselves since they were under LL's risk API. I've never had anything take longer than 4 or 5 days with LL, but even that I feel is too long. There is an easy solution to automate this process, I'm not sure why they refuse to do it...even with HIGH security measures. It's a very simple job to do if you are a programmer. I have heard they are using some sort of Mass Payout system I don't know if that's true or not, but ok let's say it is. Knowing paypal the way I do...I've worked with their API many times, I doubt very much they would take any longer than 24 hours. So I would still put the blame squarely on LL's slow manual process. Although...I have to say, I don't quite buy that they are sending out these mass payment files. If so...then why aren't the major exchanges doing it? Their volume had to have been just as high. And hey maybe they were and we just don't know it, but if they were how were they getting them sold immediately where LL takes 5 days. The whole thing just stinks of unorganized money hostage.
  3. Being in the software industry myself, I'm ok with it. Honestly, most companies are moving into this new way to sell software. It will really help with all the pirating going on too since most of the time it will require validation and being online to work. it's not my favorite thing in the world, but it's been happening for so long it doesn't bother my anymore. We've been on the Adobe subscription plan for awhile now and I love having access to everything. I've got every single one of their products at my disposal so it's nice.

What is more 5.3 states that "There are other exchanges that are operated by third parties on which Linden dollars are exchanged" but there are not authorised by Linden Lab. In fact they have never been so there is no big change in ToS. If you look at 1. CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT This Agreement may be changed by Linden Lab effective immediately by notifying you as provided in Section 13.4 below; provided that Material Changes will become effective thirty (30) days after such notification. you will notcie that even if LL interprets 'not authorised' as 'not allowed' ( what makes the whole paragraph absurd) you still have one month when you can use other exchanges. Some of them still operate like Anshex, Podex Exchange etc. I do not think that Anshe would work illegally. I do believe it is "not allowed". This is part of an email I received from a supprt ticket I sent in yesterday asking for clarification...this comes after she tells me they won't interpret the TOS for me. "The updated Terms of Service make it clear that trading of Linden dollars (L$) on exchanges other than the LindeX, Second Life’s official L$ exchange, is not authorized. We will enforce our Terms of Service as we always have. Failure to comply with the ToS may result in loss of your Second Life account(s)."

I have never sold L$, not because i didn't make the sales, i would rather keep the money in SL and use it to do my part to keep the merchants i like going. I did not join SL with the thought that it would replace RL for work. Any money i make in SL stays there. i suppose if i made hundreds of thousands of L$ i would cash out some, but until then, i keep it in SL. Your situation is definitely one where no complaints really would be felt. You aren't cashing out. Honestly if I was only buying then I wouldn't have issue either. But for those drawing several hundred thousand linden every month, it's a major issue. I really don't even have an issue with it running completely though SL...what I have issue with is them pretending that it takes them a week due to security measures when it's really all about profit. They could most definitely set up security measures and practices that would take practically every bit of security needed into account. And get us our money immediately...or even just within 24 hours if they really felt the need.
  6. I've only ever had to wait on my first transaction with Virwox. Once I did it the first time, I have gotten it instantly every other time. There honestly is no reason not to implement a system that would still protect the security of our accounts but still get access to money instantly. For those wanting to cash out they could set up security questions or a PIN.Do email verification on the paypal email address. As long as you aren't adding a new email address and you can answer your security question and enter a pin number, I would consider that to be pretty secure.

They are saying to use third party exchanges at your own risk. Lindens are sending out emails to 3rd party exchangers demanding them to remove their ATM's from Second Life and cease all Linden trading immediatelly "to keep their SL accounts in good standing", thus ignoring their own TOS rule of 30 days prior notice. This has been confirmed by Virwox and Rock Currency Exchange, just on the top of my head. Yes, they are banning all other exchanges besides Lindex and in a worse possible way. If this is true , then they are banning them from having an inworld presence. the ToS clearly states you are not prohibited from using them. My guess is the trader companies are saying LL is telling them to stop trading to cause and uproar in the community. Why would LL say one thing to us and another to them if it is easily confirmed? Well based on the email I received back from my ticket I submitted asking for clarification, I take it as it is completeley forbidden. Although...I love how their support staff tells me they won't give me a straight answer and tell me I should judge the rule for myself but then turn around and say...but if you get it wrong, we're gonna ban your butt. "Support staff are not authorized to interpret the ToS for you; you will need to read them for yourself and act in accordance with them as you understand them. We will enforce our Terms of Service as we always have. Failure to comply with the ToS may result in loss of your Second Life account(s)."
  8. You can use the WayBack Time machine and get their updated copies. The last one I see is April 2013. http://web.archive.org/web/*/https://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php
  9. It's not just you. I watched it for awhile but I find the acting to be pretty bad and the writing to be lacking in any sort of real story and character depth. It's just another show with a hot doctor for the ladies to lust over (Although I really don't find him all that hot, but that's what I hear). I will admit I have a hard time accepting reboots of old shows and movies. I just prefer the classics and the way they were meant to be done. My only exception to that was Star Trek...I loved the classics but I also really loved the movie remake. If you are into SyFy shows though, I highly recommend the Firefly series (I still want to marry Nathan Fillion) and also Battlestar Galactica. Firefly is still my all time favorite series and has a movie too. But Battle Galactica was just a beautifully done series, with great acting, great writing and really nice special effects. It's so immersive you will be screaming at the TV to "just walk by that jerk and snap his neck please!". It's very emotionally packed.
  10. Absolutely keep selling regular non-mesh clothing. i love my mesh furniture and I'm doing a lot of building in it. I also love mesh hair. But honestly, I can't stand mesh clothing. It changes my shape and I hate it. There is a great number of people who will continue to buy textured and sculpty clothing over mesh, so push forward!

Mine dipped immediately after the purge of items on the 16th when they took out all the items still in magic boxes but went back to normal about a week later. Now they are actually increasing, I'm assuming because there are less items to sort through, I don't know. It could have just been due to the purge and having to reindex 2 million products back to searching.

This is precisely how I got rid of my unassociated items from the magic boxes upon converting. Where as you had to do it one at a time on the actual list, this performed mass deletion for me. I just tried that and nadda. Maybe my store is just glitched out. Ill maybe send in a support ticket and see if they can update it.

I thought maybe the same thing but some of the ones I have in my list are YEARS old. Surely that would be enought to clear em out if they were actually going to be removed. Strange. Are they maybe lurking in a magic box somewhere? After I deleted my magic boxes and re-synchronized the store to the boxes that were no longer there, my deleted things disappeared from the list of products I could choose from. Nope no magic boxes left. I even checked on Xstreet just to verify. Even when I had magic box, I only ever had two and they sat right next to each other, and I deleted them both. Definitely not that. Just really strange.

Seems like something very broken...but you know how fast broken things gets fixed around here.

But as a soon to be merchant (as soon as I can get a script from my scripter) the lack of ability to have anything I might sell in world be reviewed on MP is kinda making me want to avoid in world stores all together. Tonight trying to shop on MP was next to impossible. Pages kept timing out and i'd get a MP "sorry to keep you waiting" message over and over. I finally gave up and went to the merchants inworld store. Something to consider when thinking about having a store. Another point for inworld. I'm a huge fan of shopping in world over the marketplace....obviously. Honestly, the MP could be great, could be easy to shop, could be convenient...but it's not. It's slow, hard to find things because the search is just completely wrong, too much "crap" to wade through and not reliable to find people still around Sl to support your product. I still prefer to go in world and probably always will....and yes I know I'm the minority here. Call me old fashion.
  17. Perrie Juran wrote: I prefer my purchases in a box also. Especially if an item is copy/mod. My back up is in the box and it reduces inventory clutter. It is a lot easier to unpack a box than for me to have to pack everything into a box for my back up. It would be awesome if all merchants used the "wear to unpack script." This is why I like boxes too. Gotta love backups. besides it's only one extra step and it's not really that big of a deal.
  18. Gadget Portal wrote: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2033746/11-killer-games-that-will-bring-your-pc-to-its-knees.html#tk.nl_pcwbest That's a PC World article, "11 killer games that will bring your PC to its knees". One thing jumped out at me, in the intro blurb of the article; "In practical terms, if your rig is running anything less than a Core i5 processor, an Nvidia GeForce GT 440 graphics card, 4GB of RAM, and a 7200 RPM hard drive, it's time to consider upgrading" That made me grin, and I wanted to share this slideshow over here anyway. If you look at the linked slide show, bear in mind that all those pictures are screenshots of the actual games. Not movies or cutscenes or promo pictures. By the way, I have many of those games. I run them on the highest possible settings. The pictures don't do them justice, they look better than that. We can only hope that someday SL uses the same kinds of graphics engines, same levels of anti-aliasing, and DirectX support that these games do. What's really said is that I can run any of those games on high settings with ease yet SL with it's crappy graphics and low performance tends to slow my system down far worse. Something wrong with that picture.
  19. Another good set of reasons to focus on in world sales And yes it's running slow as heck for me yesterday and today.
  20. Sassy Romano wrote: Not entirely true, nor would it require merchants to use an LL system. However, i'm not at liberty to comment further other than saying that when I polled merchants as to whether they felt this would be a useful future MP feature, the general consensus was actually "no". I can understand this as my top selling product for the past 2 years on MP has received precisely ZERO MP reviews which is ridiculous given the number of sales and similarly, the general feeling was that the reviews were so utterly gamed anyway that the feeling was that most treat them with little impact or respect anyway. It could be done though but as I said earlier, at present, there's no API provided...but there could be, it wouldn't be difficult. I agree with consensus of no. Honestly...with the minimal reviews that are there now, it's clear that reviews (even if just on the MP) are not that important to people or a lot more people would be leaving them. I tend to steer clear of reviews because usually it's just people complaining and most of the time it's because they didn't read the listing correctly. I put about .05% of my faith in reviews. Complete waste of space in my opinion and putting them in world isn't going to make people leave reviews anymore than they do now. I'm not really sure why the OP feels they are being punished for not being able to have reviews in world. Even if reviews were removed from the MP, I wouldn't consider myself punished. Sure, maybe if reviews were widely used and were actually useful then maybe as a consumer you might feel a little jilted but as the system is right now, I would consider it a favor to have them all done away with.

The same thing happens if you go to select "related products". All of your old deleted products still show up in the list of available products. It's stupid. I'm going back to crawl into my inworld store and focus on that. This MP stuff is ticking me right the hell off today.
  22. I don't think we're getting any love on this issue.
  23. I don't know why I haven't asked this before because it's been driving me crazy for months. I've deleted products and added new items in their place with similar names. Mainly I'm replacing old outdated versions of builds with new ones. But theone thing that drives me nuts is if I click the button for autofilling based on a previous item OR clicking the button for adding related products, the old deleted items show up in that list. Of course, some have the same name so when I think I've added them, they don't appear because the items don't exist anymore, so I have to go back in and delete the related item and find the new one. I have had to move to looking and seeing which has the higher product id but that's a pain. Surely there must be a way to remove items that are completely deleted (not just unlisted) from those inventory search lists?

That's why I choose not to look. I haven't turned off adblock once even to take a peak, Because it might upset me and cause my stress levels to rise. I take such pride in how my store looks, and yes it is what Trinity says - head in the sand. But really for me - rl has enough stress. This part of my life is for relaxation. So if I can block out the stress I am all for that. Second Life, creating and selling is my escape from the RL stress - and I have way too much of that. I come here to be happy and peaceful And what can we do it about it really, except be unhappy and complain among ourselves. So head in the sand, block out the stress is the way for me.Oh I don't know. If I saw a competitor with their ad across my storefront, you could say there isn't anything left to do but to complain, but honestly, I'd probably go smack my own ad up there just so they know what it's like to have competition in your store front. It sucks. They would get it too once it happened to them. Honestly, when i saw my ad up on my competitors page, I was ticked and it wasn't even my store. But...I will add, I don't find it stressful at all. Nothing in SL stresses me out. It's all a hobby and leisure. This isn't my living. I can see how if it was, it can become stressful though.

If one can't do that, then competitors aren't responsible for where their ad lands. However, if it *is* possible to define location and a competitor landed on my MP site...yeah...REDHEAD TIME!!! ETA: I don't like the ads either way; just if a competitor was targeting my MP store...that's a whole different thing. Yup...I specified for my ad to ONLY appear on www.secondlife.com or marketplace.secondlife.com so it can appear on any page within those domains.
