Yep im's and local chat for 2 weeks, I think retention is a bit longer than that though. even when I had my own hosting company (I close it down november last year) I kept the required logs server side for 6 months and then they auto purged, 2 weeks was covered in my own tos, but knowing how ***** retentive certain agencies are about data in this country... I figured best to hold onto them a bit longer. lol

Name Change Charges (not Linden Labs)
bigmoe Whitfield replied to Dakota Noelle's topic in General Discussion Forum
if I'm not getting paid to correct the persons name, it will go onto a list for when I have time to get it done, if they need it right away, then they can pay the charge or they can wait. -

That's always a good question. -

I will point out before any one comes in and jumps on a creator about this, most of us, do not have any quick method of changing names in a database, most of us still have to connect to a shell window and enter entries manually to make changes, I also use toad to make changes as it's a bit easier to go hunting for the data that I need to change, so keep that in mind as situations as Grace has found out. -

@Whirly Fizzle if I'm remembering right this issue is because of a bug in the LL code from eons ago? -

Thing to remember too though, LL can not control what's posted to a 3rd party website, but LL is contact with the sites owner and making sure things are going the way they need too according to what keira posted. So we just have to rely on what LL is doing and working on with the owner at this point.

Are people afraid to talk to older accounts?
bigmoe Whitfield replied to River Aurelia's topic in General Discussion Forum
I was once told "you have a legacy name, you do not know anything about SL" I know more than people think I know, I pay a bit of attention to certain aspects, I've even had some forum users question me at times, but I can pull proof of everything I've said hehe. -
Why, in Second Life, jerks are a minor problem.
bigmoe Whitfield replied to animats's topic in General Discussion Forum
well I'm not a boomer, I'm GenX and SL is my home, 15 years here, I've tried other items that are out there or have failed, there is nothing like this at all and kinda selfish, I hope it stays that way. -
Banned but still able to go to the place…?

Group chat broken (again in 2023) ?!
bigmoe Whitfield replied to Eddy Vortex's topic in Second Life Server
I would at this point and I know I'm nuts, but I would see about contacting discord devs and seeing if they have a solution? just throwing it out there, as I'm starting to think maybe an off the shelf replacement might be just worth it. but I've been around 15 years, so just thinking out loud. -
That is what I found it's 3 years old, so dono.

The web profiles will be going away at some point. so also keep that in mind. edit: also you only need one topic instead of multiple posts.

Shadows has a big impact along with draw distance, I leave them off, I range from 50 to 90fps in most places, in crowds I'm ranging about 25 fps. if I turn those on... 4 fps. my 980 hates it's life when I do that.

LL investigates every claim, will take what he said and compare it to what they have, which is everything, so even if he claims to have not been the "hacker" if the information they have shows otherwise, than that's that.

wish she was willing to sale everything, minus the accounts. could be worth an investment to keep it running.

System requirements - 8 cores?
bigmoe Whitfield replied to Lana Callow's topic in General Second Life Tech Discussion
I run an i7-5820k which is a 6 core processor and I do fine with it, but I also have the ram/ssds/gpu to not cause a bottle neck.
