I cannot find a list of charities that are sanctioned in Second Life. I am particularly interested in Charities for: Diabetes Research, Kidney Foundation and Toys for Tots. I have been looking EVERYWHERE, and searchign everything, in Second Life and on the web in regard to these charities in Second Life.  I have found NOTHING up to date. Especially Toys for Tots. Is there a list of accepted and legit charities in Second Life with people to contact?  Where do I find this?  Thank you for your help!

    Is CasperVend still doing OK?

(It's too bad HippoVend shut down. Competition keeps the operators from getting complacent.)

I tried to buy hippovend from it's current owner before their whole rackspace ordeal,  never responded to me and then it crashed, I offered again and was still ignored, wish andy would of never sold it off in the first place.

I'm surprised if animesh is working with it, I thought Lumiya died before that.

that's what I thought, I stopped using it when animesh came out and o.o scary things happen.

Interesting animesh working on lumiya 3.4.2. im can see my dogs from Jian. It used to see your avi flatted when u have animesh attached to urself. Only bom don't work for now. Hope somedays some smart people works on the code n add bom then this lumiya viewer is pretty complete. If the future second life mobile app ain't run on low end phones. Lumiya still a good go.

Lumiya is a dead viewer, nobody but the creator has access to it's code, so unless they give it out for free for people to do what ever with, I would not expect anything added.  but at some point it will get blocked from logging in.

Asset server and simulator can be different things though, it would be possible to keep assets protected while allowing self hosting... well, if they wanted to.

Only way this will work is if the simulator server image that can be self hosted is locked/encrypted at a hard set level to stop any and all tampering, then it's viable, otherwise,  nope, not going for it at all.

On topic- Doubtful that LL will actually follow through and have the cloud servers located in other parts of the world as they were saying they would once the uplift was completed.

depending on deployment costs with aws, it could be a factor too that is limiting deployment,  I think only patch would be able to explain it better at this point.

Quite a few of the larger commercial grids are part of a "Trusted Grid" network that do not give residents access to god mode, remove any content that is even suspected of being illegitimate, dmca or not, block access to both logins and hyperjumps using cb viewers and additionally do not allow travel to those independent grids that are not part of the trusted grid network. Those restrictions make it safer for content and creators than SL.

That leads to the on-topic question of whether SL will ever change or fix the allowing access with cb viewers.

say the grid in the "trusted network" allows people to host their own regions connecting them in onto the "trusted network" then there is the failure point.
