  1. That's a lot of mumbo jumbo...the "Received Items" folder will end up being just like the "Objects Folder" over time. In fact it will be spaghetti with all types of categories of inventory mixed into together.!! You're assuming that a million or so regular users can somehow maintain order of this new "Received Items"Folder...when they did not have the discipline to keep their "Objects Folder" in order in the first instance. We already have adequate tools available if only people learn how to use them. If you vaguely know the item you are searching for in your over-bloated "Objects Folder"...you could type a keyword in the Search field box to narrow down the objects listed (e.g shoes, hair, AO) in the "Objects Folder". Likewise using "Show Filters" in conjunction with "Recent Items Folder" would make life easier too.
  2. MartinRJ Fayray wrote: Oh and just for information: this feature is already implemented and shipped Just as well we have a decent choice of 3rd Party viewers to use....and avoid putting up with this LL rubbish!
  3. Use "Show Filters" with your Recent Items tab....that's what it's there for! Makes life a lot easier
  4. Do the LL developers ever listen to it's customer base? I had expected a new folder for just "MP recieved items"....not a general "Junk Folder" which includes in-world items (i.e picking objects from the ground) Grrrr!
  5. What package do you have with VirginMedia ? i have 10 Mb with unlimited usage, cable TV and a Phone Land line for £33 p/mth....no problems with any of the services. I could add a Mobile phone to the package.
  6. A disaster.....why does LL have to waste time implementating or proposing bad ideas? If it ain't broke......
  7. I'm with Virgin cable...its the best connection I've ever had. Have minimal problems.
  8. Your Inventory will be made up of 3 tabs - Inventory, Recent Items & Worn Items. To manage your inventory easily and look for new incoming objects/ folders etc...highlight the "Recent Items" tab.....then in your menu bar above...click on the 1st option "File"...then click on "Show Filters". Near the bottom of that box is a setting called "Days Ago"....set that to 1 day (for now, until you get real familiar with your Inventory")......that will show you all the items entering your Inventory in last 24 hours. You can always extend the "Days Ago" as you get use to your Inventory. The 1st tab "Inventory"...is your Master Folder and contains all your sub-folders & objects.....it's a bit like Windows Explorer, but as that grows, it takes longer to find things (unless you use the Search box and type in part words of things you're looking for).....hence using "Recent Items" tab will be easier on a day to day basis.

I've since gotten rid of most of them and bought myself nicer things, but those freebies kept me in SL for quite a while, rather than giving up because I hated the way my avi looked. There are tons and tons of "quality" Freebies around the grid, if Noobs do a bit of research into it.....not to mention the Freebies on Marketplace too. Really isn't much need for handouts anymore.....it might have been the case pre-2008 but certainly not anymore. I can think of 2 very large in-world Freebie groups that designers post notices to.
  10. You might want to rent a Store in an established Shopping Square which has some decent traffic to begin with. You're ideally looking for a Shopping Square that has a piece of land cut underneath each shop so you can advertise & market it. If all the neighbouring Merchants are advertising and marketing....you'll benefit from some cross-traffic too. I think that's probably the most cost effective way to start out. Europhia sim is a good example of how that might work, they are always looking for new and unknown creators (Fashion sector)...they do a lot of events and off site advertising. I would go that route to begin with as opposed to buying/ renting a plot of land in the middle of nowhere and then plonking a shop on top of it.
  11. Yep...far too much Mainland around...over 7000 sims worth, yet 43% of is under a LL name! (equivalent to around 3000 sims in land mass)

This was my dilemna a few years back when i had 1 Mainland Sim +10% Group bonus. An extra 16 sqm addition would have meant a jump in Tiers from $195 to $292.50....a crazy prospect! The cheapest option was to take out an annual fee for an Alt account.....which allowed me to go up in sensible steps thereafter.

  14. Why do you think so much of the Lindex has gone to the likes of VirWox and other 3rd party exchanges. The funds also gets instantly transferred to Paypal.....none of this waiting 5 or 10 days lark before it arrives to PP.
  15. No need...half the Grid is littered with Freebies. No need ot buy anything other than scripted gadgets and Breedable's food.
  16. He is right..it jumps up from $40 to $75.....if you go over the 8192sqm limit (or Group with 9012 sqm) if you add just 16 sqm.
  17. Well we haven't had a reduction to the total of Estate sims during the last 2 weeks ....so that's something to cheer about. Maybe we've reached the trough...as it seems to have stabilized. In Jan the SL Grid made a net lost of 570 sims....so far in February the net lost is only 85 sims. The root of LL's problems and thus SL...are the bad retention rates they've historically always had. They get enough new accounts signed-up daily (that part is working!)...but just can't seem to improve those % retention rates. The 2nd big problem, which is now coming back to haunt them....are their Tier pricing models, which makes It really an expensive form of entertainment once you get into wanting your own homeland. (or business)
  18. Correct....starting with the LL Land Tier system. Other OS grids shown what could be done at much lower costs....admittedly they don't have the overhead that Linden Lab has....but still $295 usd monthly tiers for an Estate Sim is ridiculous. It's too late for LL to cut Tiers as they're losing both Sims and concurrency, thus Net profits.......but years ago, it should have been priced at a round $150 - $175 mark.
  19. The problem wasn't so much the native Jewish people that resided already in that part of the world......they've lived alongside the Palestinians in that region amicably for 100's if not 1000's of years. The problem occured when Zionism a Jewish Polical Movement in its broadest sense, supported the self-determination of the Jewish people in a sovereign Jewish national homeland. They scoured the world map, trying to determine where this "Homeland" should be....until they finally decided on Palestine. It is based on historical ties and religious traditions linking the Jewish people to the Land of Israel. From Wikipedia : Throughout eastern Europe at the time, there were numerous grassroots groups promoting the national resettlement of the Jews in what was termed their "ancestral homeland", as well as the revitalization and cultivation of Hebrew. These groups were collectively called the "Lovers of Zion." The first use of the term is attributed to the Austrian Nathan Birnbaum, founder of a nationalist Jewish students' movement Kadimah, who used the term in his journal Selbstemanzipation (Self Emancipation) Readings of the founders of Zionism shows that they lived in the same Europe which spawned fascism and Naziism, and they adopted the anti-Jewish view that Jews did not belong in Europe as the core of their ideology. So thus began the migration of Jews worldwide although predominantly from Eastern Europe ...notably Russia. Once in Palestine they adopted the policy of buying up as much land as possible (land grab) and driving local Palestinians out. That's when tensions between the Jews and Palestinians began. (i.e mainly with these Zionists, not the native Jewish folk) In this modern day world (i.e 20th cc)..not many folk can relate to being turfed out of one's homelands, hence a degree of sympathy towards the Palestinians not just from the Arab nations. Governments may take certain positions regarding Israel....but that doesn't mean it's citizens hold similar views to it's Politcians.
  20. Ilyra Chardin wrote: I also see it a ost of doing business (RL stores contend with shoplifters all the time) and as a cost of being a consumer as well. Caveat emptor has a whole new dimension of meanings on marketplace, where people frequently set up shop and sell freebie full perm items or copybotted items for a fee. In a world where licensing is largely ignored and new products or items are copied as fast as they're released, I'm not sure that there is much that you can do. The volume of sellers and products out there far exceeds any governing body's ablity to keep up with the rule-breakers and take action. I pay for my software, i take pride in my building and, most of all. I have fun doing it. I try not to think about the other stuff and can only hope (maybe delude myself into believing) that in the end karma will out. Lock only keep honest people out. Cheers That sort of activity is less likely nowadays....as shopping traffic has moved towards Marketplace. They'd have to pay rents or tiers to set up their Store...and the very nature of the products they're trying to sell, won't allow for in-your-face type advertising to bring attention to themselves. It would almost certainly have to be done through Groups....that feed off stolen content. It really wouldn't be a profitable venture....and wouldn't last long either.....hence the 3rd party websites and other venues.

It's harder this time around to manipulate data to present anything positive to say. I guess they could write a paragraph or two on Mesh....or Linden Realms. The economic data doesn't make pleasant reading.......you wouldn't order a bunch of Sims on the back of them. lol

  23. Ever since Linden employees stopped manning "Live Chat" support...it's become next to useless. The only time this current lot were helpful, was when my password had been compromised....or I needed a Mainland Sim moved onto another server (away from their guinea pig RC servers). All other related matters have been a waste of time....I was told to either file Tickets or use in-world AR system. In essence.....it's a glorified switchboard. .
