  1. Remember when these messages used to mean something? Now I have no clue if I'm getting a roll or not. My current version is not listed. The utility of these posts has gone down to 4%.
  2. I'm going to double check in the morning that it's not just my bandwidth and maybe have the sim restarted for #5 in 3 days, but I'm wondering if anyone else is noticing that scripts are running like garbage again in 532192? For almost a year performance was degraded and the last few months everything was running perfectly. Now my trains are crawling. I'll double check in the morning and try another restart before I officially report since it's late.
  3. Wonder how it is that the beta sims could get a "spurious association", yet these non-beta restarts, and restarts, and restarts are far more jarring and long.
  4. " spurious associations"? #fakenews I've been a proud mayor of a LeTigre sim for years, and it will always be LeTigre from the beginning! Maybe I should put it in the about land description to make up for the loss. Seriously, one of the many many obnoxious claims I make about my city is that gets everything first since it's a beta!!
  5. I forgot the ban list mysteriously cleared then. That's probably why I reported it then. Still nice to see old photographs.
  6. Prim shift oh my! Prim shift has been getting worse after the restarts over the past few months. Todays re-start caused a primshift that killed what's probably SL's best tram ride. The equipment was laid about 5 years ago. 3 weeks ago it was discovered that prim shift moved a wall that hasn't been touched in well over 9 years. I have many situations of prim shift on two sims; one beta one main. But today, we have the smoking gun. https://armchairdestinations.wordpress.com/2019/09/11/prim-shift-shifting-prims-oh-my/ http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lapara/217/26/55 I want to note that shift has always been minor here and there, keeps us on our toes. But it's getting more violent. I'm going to leave the guiderails alone for a few days before I fix them and re-start the trains. I guess people will have to walk a bit. We had a jira years and years ago about one bad prim shift. I don't recall what happened there, but that was more of a random instance right on a sim crossing.
  7. I tried a few things short of the orb. Sometimes I have Teleporting routing on. I moved everyone to the surface; I had thought about putting them in a place that might be full of lag too. But then I discovered a botnet. Someone was nice enough to gather all of their alts and names. I banned them all, and now they're doing it to my other zoned parcels. So I gotta go through this list like a dozen times now. And what gets me the most, the bot profile is all snippy about how it's there just to do its automated land duties. Land duties on land everyone else pays for! Even though the lindens don't care about squatters, what about this sort of thing instead?
  8. I don't know, but I notice there is a big entitlement mentality out there with too many examples to list. I only have two types I boot. Those who cam in to the only private apartment on an entire sim, and invade it for their own "gratifications", and a botnet I'm currently fighting with a really arrogant profile about doing their "land duties" (on MY land) and that anyone who has a problem with the botnet is paranoid. Otherwise, just don't stand in traffic and your fine.
  9. That's my feeling as well. I have a pretty unique set-up and situation versus the traditional abandoned sim or the estate that's just a store. I liked being able to claim things like the first sim with EEP and other things I've claimed on my own. But I wonder if they're getting anything out of it or anything I could notice. I just keep on trucking and hope I even notice the changes. Scripts Run 96-99%. But there is sparetime and 3000 scripts. In my main grid portion not in LaTigre (both mainland) , 5500 scripts, no spare time, but performance has been great for just over a week, script run at like 75-80%.
  10. I'm not sure how you get the percentages, but I just logged in to another restart at 7:30 SL time. I wonder what's going on or what's wrong (or right). I feel like my trains that I just had to reset (for the 3rd time in 2 days) are running fast now though. Those old legacy scripts are good litmus tests on timings imo.
  11. There must be more to it, although I can guess that a higher-end set-up makes the variables much easier to control. I have been using Windows 10 on an A10 processor with an integrated Radeon R7 GPU that I don't believe they even bother to make or update anymore. Ram 8gb. Sometimes, I can run shadows. When I screenshot, it looks better than these expensive systems screenshot and blogs I see. I wonder what gives sometimes. I get the feeling that sometimes what I'm seeing are people running this on low on a laptop. I don't think it really takes that much to do SL. I would like to have a super-high-end rig one day, but what does it do, let me see for miles instead of just the sim?
  12. Still running around nearly (or probably is) PERFECT. Still at 5550 scripts or so. 18ms script time which finally just went to 16; spare time never happens until I see a jump to 19ms script time. I should probably return all the sensors and timers back to where they should be so that I can see just how much the lag messes things up if it does return for a benchmark. But, gosh, it sure is nice to be able to drive any vehicle, and make a simple turn again without having to back up 8 or 9 times!
  13. You folks must be in the minority. I see more people that "live" on abandoned land with no rezzing rights than I do places where you may rez something. I've had dozens of those around me on the mainland. All of those folks were all regulars too. When I travel, I see them dotting just about every abandoned parcel (unless something has changed in the last 3 months). Then there's the same people I see in the same roadside rez area, or even not the rez area, just standing in the street. See the same people for months. The ironic part? I got restaurants and cafe's that go empty. Most of SL doesn't want shelter. They want to stand out in the open....for years I see some of these folks.
  14. Thanks for the suggestion, after years you'll never know when an object will come in handy. I banned a couple leading up to the post, and I think they must've reported it as a bad LM wherever they get the coordinates from, so traffic is dropping off. I didn't want to play the security game orb game, but it looked like traffic was going to increase perpetually. Maybe not now. On the one hand, yeah they're coming in a zillion miles up. But it still bogs down the servers even worse IMO. And they act and ignore you like bots. But it's only a matter of time before the next thing shows up. Either the usual folks who like to strip naked and change their closes on the protected right of way (you'd think with all the prostitution groups in their profiles they could afford a closet to do it in), the next bot farm, or the next game...
  15. Ahh so that's how it works! I wish support told me to file a BUG or something instead of telling me that Linden Labs doesn't have anything to do with the beta servers that one time....
  16. The main region I am on, where I have been having trouble with for well over a year now just got restarted. Still at 5500 scripts (not sure how many of that is me versus the farm next door), and it is running the best in at least 3 years. I can finally drive my buses and turn. The trains are running at the proper timings - and is tripping all of my sensors at the wrong time. Which shows how much I've compensated for the lag before. I thought it must have something to do with the script improvements on the beta that made it to the non-beta sims, where things are running fine as well. But I'm not so sure. I'm going to try to stick around as much as I can to see if it degrades quickly or not. I haven't been able to have fun on half of my property in almost TWO stinkin years now! And this is the first.
  17. I figured out they were unrelated because the person with their 12 alts all had the same naming convention, and all logged in and out at the exact same time. Then I started getting other folks with different names, and TP times, so it was more obvious. Also, behaviors, different RP styles and groups, etc. I'd love to know how you got rid of the problem in a year. I had to put up with the sim instability for much longer. All that happened was the powers to be flattened the land. I think some still come around, but I don't get to log in at those times anymore. Evidently, 12 alts and bots all squatting isn't an issue though. For these interstellar pop-ins, I've considered an orb, but then I have to spend money. Although, I suppose the problem will only get worse. Why would you need a forum for that though?! It's actually kinda nice that I got some answers to this age-old question finally. For the last two years when I ask this question, all I got was vile and hate. Now I won't be so snippy when I mention that Metric is against my sim rules. *** Edit: I'm not sure if the mile-high club folks are unrelated or not. They all have bot sounding names, and similar aged profiles. Blank profiles. So on. At first I thought they are related, but not much to go on.
  18. So like buying at auction, cutting the land, and reselling the next day. Although, abandoning little strips at 384 while cutting the land is not specifically spelled out. I had to put in a ticket to acquire that parcel. To this day there is a random strip in the middle of town that has the abandoned language in the description. A bit of town trivia. But instead of getting on Linden Labs about these flippers. I find the land "barons" to be incredibly stupid. Don't contact the guy with the 2 miles of roads and railroad tracks that he might want a strip of land that abuts his parcel. No try to abandon first! Ditto for the rest of the parcels and abandoners. Offline people would pound the pavement to sell. Online, they're lazy.
  19. It used to be that I had to put up with dozens and dozens of squatters on neighboring abandoned parcels. With so many unrelated avatars all showing up at the same spot, I can only assume they have to get the coordinates from somewhere. Then the land went to auction and problem solved. Until the new owners finally abandon of course. Now I'm getting a steady stream of bots teleporting into my sim at 3524 yards in the air multiple times per day. Each one staying around for only 45 seconds of course. Does second life have some type of darkweb forum for people who don't really do anything constructive to pass along landmarks?
  20. I'm the subsequent bona fide purchaser of those two sims for almost 10 years now. Nothing's changed, except most of the squatters don't bother rezzing anything anymore.
  21. No. Even though land splitting is clearly against the rules, after every auction (that I always miss), the land barons come in and split the land. I even filed a ticket, nothing happened. I had to expand my old plot at highway robbery prices by buying split lands. They must encourage rule-breaking considering that every auction is done after the Lindens consolidate entire regions, only to have them split again.
  22. Not sure if "idle" scripts are worse than farming parcels, but a neighbor just dumped a 4000 parcel which freed 1000 scripts exactly(and this wasn't even the farm part). Now I'm down to 6288 scripts running. My 10 year old Train script does a segment in 1 minute and 24 seconds. It should take no more than 55 seconds (which occurs at 3200 scripts). At 7400 scripts, that run was almost 3 minutes long. I'm looking around, and frankly, this means that the servers are underpowered. I went around deleting all the scripts from lights and things that I never touch, or have never turned on and off for years. I managed to only get 300 scripts out. I didn't expect to dump anywhere close to 1000, but overall, those little idling scripts don't come up to a very high percentage. I think the only way you can have an entire sim run on 3000 scripts, is to be boring, or very static. Likely, the usual shopping sim. (ignoring nature sims for a moment as the exception). If one has buildings with multiple stories, or lights so the streets are like, you know, not dark, maybe some vehicles, rides, animals, noises, ambiance, traffic signals, music, bathtubs, whatever else I can think of, I don't know if these sims are build to handle it. Maybe I don't expect 100% performance when you start bogging it down, but there is a line. A slight lag in performance I personally accept for more prims (the last allotment was WAY too little). But, an upgrade seems to be in order. One more edit, I had someone idling in a sim, they left. The script count for them was exactly 301 and they weren't even that fancy looking. Therefore, using the agreed upon max of 3000 scripts when the sims start getting bogged, you can only have 10 people in a sim? OTOH, two people in a car towing a boat just drove through. 194 scripts. About 5%-ish of what a sim can handle before serious lag?
  23. As to "not worrying", frankly we worry simply because LL's tech teams are only barely in control of this behemoth we call SL, and they frequently have far more pressing matters to attend to than region restarts, which are NOT automatic. Think anyone would get cocky if I said it's cool to think about that they're trying to run an actual WORLD here!?
  24. My script info box always worked well for my stuff, but there is a tab Control+Shift+1 and Control+Shift+2 that gives a lot of data on whatever sim I go to immediately. I just wonder if a sim says x number of active scripts, how to tell what number is on the exact parcel. Might be something only the Labs can check since there was an abuse report option at one time for excessive sim resource usage.
  25. As far as idle scripts go. I went to Calleta, what was supposed to be the hallmark of lag. Not even 3k scripts going. Don't think they were lagged either But, are we hearing anything new? Since the beginning of time scripts were blamed. And if it isn't chicken farms, then horse farms, now I have a DFS farm as a neighbor. Do these not cause lag anymore? It used to not bother me, because those folks always abandoned in well under a week. Until now... I wish I could get a script count per parcel. Because running around and deleting scripts from things that haven't been touched in well over a year, certain lights, and street signs, I don't see how you can get thousands of scripts by regular normal usage. I think we've become uneconomical in our usage of things. When I first started, it was like a panic just having a few scripts that you didn't delete.
