  1. I wouldn't say that is applies to "most" people. Based on my experience, I'd say 'less than half' even. (note that I took that as the 'conceited me') On Topic: Those that socialize a lot in SL and those that don't.
  2. One of the authors that I read and get periodic emails from, sent me a link to a Bookfunnel page of tons of free fantasy novels from various authors - to get you to try them out. The books come via email, in Kinde epub format, so I can easily email them to my Kindle. Today I realized that over the past week I have downloaded 160 free books. 🤣 That's a lot of reading that I've got to do.
  3. True. However, now that the incident is resolved, it is still a good idea to have documented it on the Grid Status page. The page currently shows: Maybe they will retroactively document it after the weekend. I know they mostly don't work on the weekends, other than fixing critical breaks (and some customer support)
  4. I have AR'd such before and they have disappeared. Possibly folks put them back a few days later and then they'd have to be AR'd again. Multiple occurrences of the same infraction will get someone banned from having an Linden Home. When I submit an AR for something about a Linden Home, I keep an LM and go back to check on the issue. If the issue is still there a week later, I AR again - I make the assumption that my AR was handled and the home owner put the item back out a few days after LL returned it to them.
  5. If I remember correctly, at one of the large yearly events, we could buy raffle tickets for prizes. Each purchased ticket was for a specific prize, nothing random, but since there was only one prize, there was definitely a chance to not get anything for your money. I don't remember this those still existing last year at events. Nor do I remember for sure which event, but I'm thinking it was the yearly American Cancer benefit event.
  6. Now I'm nervous. The stupid little "you need to restart to finish updates" has been glaring at me for over a week now, but I've been putting off the reboot. Now I want to put it off even more.
  7. All you have to do is put your settings so that IMs go to email -- and use an email that you will actually check regularly, at least daily. All IMs in that case will go to the email, even if you don't get them all inworld.
  8. Did you do a Name Change? The files that are stored locally like TP history, are stored under you account name.
  9. You can whitelist all SL related folders for any firewall/malware/virus scan software - you don't have to switch products. Though, there are some anti-virus products that have caused SL issues in the past.
  10. I was pretty sure this topic had come up within the last 6 months and a bit of searching found it:
  11. Driving Sideways, Slippen Fall, NotJustAnother Afterthought I know there are others that I'm just not remembering right now.
  12. Nope -- there are a few nice mesh hairs with flexi attachments that give it a more realism look. If done right, it isn't horrid looking or extremely high in CI. Even a few of the older short styles are still okay. It's the long styles where the hair flows through your body (shoulders, boobs, chest, etc..) that really suck.
  13. When I first started SL, I used my credit card for my accounts and my husband used the same credit card for his account. Note that he is a valid authorized user for the credit card. These days, I use my PayPal account and I use it for all of my alts -- had 8 accounts billing with it at one time. If you wanted to us a payment method that was only in your name, and use it for someone else's account, I would probably contact Billing to ensure that it is done properly. Billing support phone numbers Toll-Free (US/Canada): 800.294.1067 Long-Distance: 703.286.6277 Our Billing team is available from 9am to 5pm EST(6am to 2pm PST), Monday through Friday. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000131008-billing-support
  14. Anti lock brakes help, but as Rowan said, you will still slide on ice. The anti-lock basically invokes a pumping action on the brakes to keep them from locking up, which usually gives at least a bit of better stopping. Mostly they help in non-icy situations though.
  15. Many folks with 4 wheel drive forget that all cars have 4 wheel slide when it comes to ice (unless you have chains on or studded snow tires).
  16. Since you can gift a Premium membership to someone by calling Billing, you might be able to gift a name change to someone. So, either open a Support ticket or call Billing: Billing support phone numbers Toll-Free (US/Canada): 800.294.1067 Long-Distance: 703.286.6277 Our Billing team is available from 9am to 5pm EST(6am to 2pm PST), Monday through Friday. https://lindenlab.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/31000131008-billing-support
  17. Thank you -- I couldn't remember the exact phrasing on the original post.
  18. Yeah, the more I think about it, 'where there is a will, there is a way' and thus someone will figure it out.
  19. As AzureWaves mentions, I want Lil to have certain benefits (since she is my primary account), so I keep her at Premium or better. So when dollars get tight, it is the alts that have to downgrade -- usually all the way to basic.
  20. I totally forgot about that tool - thanks for posting it
  21. The original was more along the lines of: When you see a thread title, do you automatically misread it as something else, and if so, what do you read -- even better if what you misread it as is funny
  22. A really crappy van -- I owned one super long ago.
  23. We spent the last 3 days in single digits or below zero. Finally back to 30 today and will be back to the 40s soon.
  24. LL can verify if the accounts involved are owned by the same person - said person can prove it if not already obvious via payment info and/or email address. Make it a P+ option, plus a transfer fee, and only if the involving accounts are proven to be owned by the same person. Yeah, I know, more work for Customer Support, but probably not much more in the grand scheme of things. I don't know if it would be possible for someone to still figure out how to scam the system.
  25. And newer stuff is not always better on performance that older stuff. The things we wear should be individually checked for efficiency - how many triangles does that outfit/hair/boots have and does it really need that many? If you get items that are really well optimized, you can actually wear more things and still be more efficient than simply reducing the number of things worn.
