  1. There are groups that allow rez rights to their members and allow them to set home to their land. The Forum Cartel (link in my forum sig) is one such group. Their plot is good sized, so you could set home to any location there and not necessarily be logging in directly where other people might often be - i.e. a bit of privacy. There are also some changing rooms in the sky for a bit more privacy - or at least there used to be; I'd have to double check that part actually.
  2. Because of the 10-second default thing, I've actually sent people IMs letting them know that they can change the amount of time in their orb and that 10 seconds is really too tight of a time frame for people to properly get themselves out of somewhere if they are traveling by vehicle. I have even sent IMs to the orb creators before, telling them that I personally think they should increase that default time a bit, since so many people don't seem to change it and also don't seem to realize how inadequate that amount of time is. I'm pretty sure that none of my IMs ever did any good. ??
  3. I did not know this -- adding it to my "SL Support Notes"
  4. I think this is an awesome photo. Yes, it can definitely get addictive. The fact that we now have 3 Look-at-Me threads is proof.
  5. I follow some folks on the forums, but since I don't ever post anything to that stupid web profile feed thingie, I can't see any reason to follow anyone there - even for free stuff, that I'm not so sure I'd want anyway.
  6. LL can't solve it until the exact problem is known, and it sounds like that is not the case yet. Find your current driver version. Then you could try going to the Intel site and downloading an older driver version than whatever you have and basically downgrade yourself to see if that fixes the problem. Even if that does fix your problem, I'm pretty sure that Windows 10 will try to update the driver to the latest version again. Thus you are then in a continuous cycle of having Windows update things and then you downgrading the graphics driver and rinse repeat over and over until the problem is actually solved. Or you'd have to turn those updates off and that isn't an easy process and has its own disadvantages. In any case, downgrading the driver version might at least indicate where the problem is and get you logged in.
  7. Ugh - I hate it when I think I copied something and I didn't, so my clipboard contains who knows what left over from who knows when. I've corrected the SLURL above and in the other threads that I posted this in. Thank you
  8. Mine has been chicken scratching for decades. Dion't let what it looks like bother you. Just makes it harder for someone to forge. Yeah, since my signature has always looked like crap, the current crappy version isn't much different that the old one. You really only need a couple of letters to truly match a signature and for most people, those letters don't change even if the rest of their writing does.
  9. Given my artistic skills, my drawings always look like I'm drunk or high or something
  10. I use all 60 of my groups and would very likely pay LL for more slots if this becomes an option with the Tiered Premium levels. Very few of my groups are for socializing. Most are store groups.
  11. You might want to read this comment about some recent issues with the HD 630 graphics:
  12. Yet, but roughly 99% of all jewelry sold is simply via vendor picture. Almost nothing is actually rezzed other than a few samples here and there shown on a model or mannequin.
  13. And this is why I hate the way Windows handles their updates now and why I've overridden quite a few things associated with that stupid auto-update process.
  14. Except that if I tried to use this policy 100%, then I'd never buy any jewelry. I don't think I've ever encountered a jewelry store that has demos - and jewelry is often one of the more complex items that someone will wear. I think part of the problem that Gabriele is alluding to is that for any given item, I honestly have no clue if 50,000 triangles is too many or okay. From everything I read, it may be fine for some complex items but not for more simpler ones. However, I've no clue what really constitutes 'more complex' or 'simpler', thus examining the details of said item doesn't necessarily tell me much. For clothing, shoes, hair, and other things that I wear, all I can go off of is what my CI shows as - and from other threads, I already know that that is broken. For home and garden type items, I can view the rezzed version and scroll out to see at what point it starts breaking up. I know I want items that don't break up too soon, but not only do I not really know what I should consider a decent distance for breakup, I can't really tell how far away I am as I'm scrolling my view back anyway.
  15. An additional note: As Marianne mentioned, even with a system skin and body applier by the same creator, there will often still be a seam in various lightings. Thus, many of us that still use a system head will wear chokers a lot.
  16. There are definitely games there that we often play and more than one of us will likely be drinking during it.
  17. The Forum Cartel Halloween party is Saturday, noon to midnight SLT, at The Hangout. We still have a hosting slot open (greet folks and help w/ stream setup if there is a performer) from noon to 2:00 SLT - not sure if there is a performer for that time slot. The signup doc is here: Party Host Signup -- You do not have to be signed in to Google to add your name. (yes, I am posting the same thing in multiple spots - be nice and don't report me).

  20. Actually the group bonus would still apply, but since all plots are 1024, you'd have to own 10 of them before you'd have enough bonus to cover another one. That assumes you want to use your group bonus on Horizons, which you don't have to.
  21. LL has to confirm a DMCA is valid and follow appropriate procedures for a take down. We have no clue what is involved in the process or how many DMCAs they have to deal with on a regular basis. It is easy to spoof that stuff so a true ban of someone is close to impossible, if said person knows what they are doing.
  22. Also, aren't all of the Horizon locations the same size plot - 1024 or 2048 - and you can't combine those plots?
  23. /me chuckles - I do pretty much feel that way about events, but usually I don't mind store shopping. Some places that are always crowded, I will avoid. I always shop in-world for home & garden stuff because I want to see it and there aren't tons of demos for that kind of stuff, but again, I prefer to go to the store and avoid the events.
  24. The mentioning of making a group is because groups get a 10% bonus in tier - though it isn't always very helpful until you get into larger amounts of land. If you do create a group, it MUST have 2 members, so create an alt to be the other owner. Making the alt premium will give you another 1024 to put in the tier bucket - and if you save the L$ stipend for the alt and cash it out it will almost pay for the membership renewal. Then after creating a group (if you go that route), have your alt donate their tier to the group (via the land tab of the group profile), donate your own tier to the group, and then when you buy land, activate the group tag first and click 'Buy for group'. That will buy the land, automatically making it owned by the group If you only want 1024 sqm of land right now and don't want to mess with a group right now, then you can just find a place you like and right click to 'buy'. Side note - There is a lot of abandoned land out there right now. LL is often willing to sell it to Premium members for L$ per sqm -- so L$1024 for 1024 sqm of land. All you have to do is find a plot and send in a support ticket asking for it. If you find something larger than want you want, LL will often sub-divide it out to sell you -- just give them the exact coordinate of the piece you want. Also, Lindal Kidd does a free Land class on Saturdays, at 12 noon SL time, at Caledon Oxbridge University. It's free to attend!
