  1. "Even though I have sent a fair number of messages with Request Read Receipt turned on, and even though the recipient Linden replied to some of those messages, I have not ever received a Read Receipt." That "feature" is usually disabled to deprive spammers of the ability to find out which addresses are "live" versus which aren't. If giving your e-mail blasts the "simple act of kindness" you think they deserve means helping spammers tareget employees (if it's set to auto-reply with the receipt) or adding time to EVERY e-mail transaction (if it's set to manual) ... you are going to continue to be frustrated. Every company I worked for recommended setting it to "automatic no", even for their sales staff.
  2. You aren't making good use of the item name and description fields. No one is going to search for a Leslie ... but they might be looking for a modern chair wiuth blue striped cushions. NAME: .lame - Leslie's Chair DESCRIPTION: 100% high quality mesh modern and contemporary furniture @ lame
  3. I've looked at a number of mesh demos, and most of them are no mod, which I assume means I can't give them a texture to see how the seams and edges are. Are they crisp and nicely aligned or was there a lot of nudging and tweaking? It gives me a good idea how hard they will be to make custom textures for.
  4. So back to original question- what do you guys think of that kind of arrogance in other merchants and/or creators? I don't buy from merchants if the permissions aren't what I want, but I'm not so arrogant that I expect them to make special editions of the product for me either.
  5. Start it on the marketplace with direct delivery ... you can build a product collection and a reputation without having to have land at all. When you are making enough every month to pay tier, THEN rent space in-world or get a parcel of your own.
  6. I think it's because the shoppers try the marketplace, say "Oh, crud! It's down again!" and go do something else for a while. By the time they get around to shopping again, a few days have passed.
  7. You mean "kitty" willows, don't you? That's hilarious. Disconcerting, but hilarious.
  8. Babi Reina wrote: so again my question is, does this dumb direct thing work and deliver a product if someone buys it and does the xstreet boxes still work the same way? Yes, directy delivery works, and the Xstreet boxes still work.

Arwen Serpente wrote: Hi All, I just noticed a change in the email confirmation we get following a sale - Prior today's maintenance, the email always came from: no-reply@Marketplace.secondlife.com After today's maintenance, the email now comes from: service@mail.Secondlife.com Since I can't find any post from the Commerce Team about this change, I'm wondering if I'm the only one seeing this. Anyone else notice it? Why would it be done? I saw this on my Merchant Home page ... Technical Announcement September 26, 2012 The from email address on Marketplace emails has changed. Please see the Release Notes for more information.

They are gifted the products in exchange for a review. Reviews give costumers a reward for some products over here. In the USA, if the reviewer gets ANY compensation, even a free sample, they MUST reveal that information in their review.

I've never specifically looked for it but can't say I have ever seen it in my day to day use of the viewer, I use the latest version of firestorm. In firestorm? Lemme look. It's in the Avatar drop-down menu, top- left corner.

  13. Ignore the complaint and ask for it to be removed. Granted, there's little diffrence between beige and white - I recommend doing a better texture on the kit so it's clearly using nothing but the mesh and maybe the shadow map.
  14. Because it's hidden in my thread, here's Darrius Gothley's step-by step procedure for converting from Magic Box to DD with a minimum of hassle. If I had done the conversion this way, it would have taken half the time, maybe less. It's too late fpor me, but if it helps anyone, thank Darrius. ****************************************** When you upload a product folder with the exact same name as an Item being delivered from a Magic Box, the Marketplace will automatically switch the product listing to use the newly uploaded product folder and change the listing from "Magic Box" to "Direct". That allows you to rez each boxed item then Open it and Copy To Inventory. Because the Copy To Inventory process creates a new folder with the same name as the box, you can just drag the newly created folder to the Merchant Outbox and upload it. The old Magic Box items that were replaced by newly uploaded DD product folders will accumulate in the "Unassociated Inventory" list, but because the 100 item limit doesn't apply to Magic Box items, you can let it grow ad infinitum. Then after everything is uploaded, just remove the Magic Boxes from In-World (I used "Take" on mine .. just in case) then remove them from the "Magic Box status" page and "Sync Marketplace with Magic Boxes" to fully remove them from Marketplace's memory. Just to recap the process in step-by-step format: 1. Drag all the Product Items from your Magic Box(es) and drop them into a temporary folder in your Inventory. 2. Rez one Product Item then right-click it and select "Open". 3. In the item inventory list window that appears, click the "Copy to Inventory" button. (This creates a new folder in your Inventory with the same name as the Product Item. It will appear under the "Recent Items" tab of your Inventory, so you should be able to find it rapidly.) 4. Open the Merchant Outbox and wait for it to initialize. 5. Drag the new folder (created in step 3) and drop it into the Merchant Outbox window. (I usually wait for a few moments to allow it to fully populate; I check that it's done by opening the folder in the Outbox and quickly comparing the items listed with the items in the source folder.) 6. Repeat steps 2-5 for more product items. (I usually do five at a time.) 7. Click the "Upload to Marketplace" button and wait for it to give you the "Success" message. (If you've turned that message off, you can instead wait until the Outbox's inventory list of folders is emptied.) 8. Repeat the above steps for each block of 5 (in my case, or however many you choose to do at once). 9. After all products are uploaded, use the "Magic Box status" page from the Merchant Home Page (Dashboard) and remove the Magic Box(es) that you've just converted. 10. Click the "Sync Marketplace with Magic Boxes" button on the Manage Listings page ... wait a few minutes for the process to complete ... then refresh the Manage Listings page. All items in the "Unassociated Inventory" list at the top of the page should vanish. After you're done, you can trash the Product Items you copied into your Inventory in Step 1 .. if you want. Or keep them as backup.

I still have not a clue, i do better with a video turtorial showing the latest update on GIMP 2.8! If you wouldn't mind if you have time? So you want her to create a video tutorial for you? How about going to YouTube and typing GIMP into the search box? http://www.youtube.com/user/GIMPtricks is one channel that's got good stuff.
  16. starflitz wrote: Oh... well, I mostly need to know how to use the templates now. I have templates Head, arms, legs, etc.. I just need to know how to put the skin ON the templates. Never done this before. Try these - really basic, but you can get an idea. Then take one of Eloh's skin PSD files apart and see how to handle shading. http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/09/day-363-creating-goth-avatar-skin-part.html http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2007/10/day-377-creating-goth-avatar-skin-part.html
  17. Thank you. Those were great instructions. The items were from the Magic Boxes (duplicated on two parcels), which may be why they were acting so strange. I killed off my entire shop briefly by deleting and resynching the magic boxen after I copied their contents to my inventory, then uploaded to DD to ressurect most of it. If I had been better about my naming of objects and folders it might have gone flawlessly, but some of mjy stuff is OLD and I didn't name things as nicely then.
  18. As well as getting the templates, download some of Eloh Eliot's free skin PSDs and look at the layers to see how it's done. Skins are about the hardest thing to do well.
  19. The "Unassociated Inventory" list has a limit of 100, and above it, the merchant outbox doesn't work ... So WHY can't I select and delete the folder full of items I just displaced with DD equivalents? It lets me select, but does not delete. I can delete three or four at a time, and that has a 50/50 chance of failing. Sometimes it fails, sometimes the "Oops, couldn’t do that" error message is lying and the stuff was deleted anyway. DID THEY NOT TEST DELETING BEFORE THEY RELEASED? And suddenly, several things the SL Marketplace claimed it couldn't delkete, that were showing in the list, have vanished. Effing strange, it is.
  20. Well, I tested a few product lines, and it wasn't too strange. I'm adopting a "from this day forward" policy on products. All new stuff will go into DD as I produce it. And If I convert one or two other folders a day I'll get'er done.
  21. Look for a mesh or sculpted building. They can be very low-prim. Go look at my shop buildings: 3 prims per shop. Roof is one sculpt, walls are a hollowed and cut cube (megaprim), and floor/platform is the third.
  22. Czari Zenovka wrote: This is a tip I received long ago from an experienced merchant, but she went even farther: She suggested placing search terms for one's store in every conceiveable prim possible, meaning not just having the search terms on each item (where items are rezzed within the store) but placing the same descriptive name/search terms within each prim of the item. Same with all prims of the store housing itself, decorative items, display items, basically any prim one owns within the store. Not sure if this still works well, or at all, given how search currently works (or doesn't) in world, but I still do it by habit. That was probably me ... The little 3-prim shop buildings that house my textures, or statues, or freebies have a short description of the buildings contents in each prim and in the sign by the door.. Each vendor's description field contains a brief description of the vendor contents in its prims. Any plant or animal I set out for decor is set to sell a copy and has the appropriate description field text. I think the reason it works is that the descriptions are very specific - I'm not listing a lot of unrelated products in every prim, I'm using precision targeting, prim by prim. The decorative elephant text is all about the elephant, not the elephant and the naked ladies and the chickens.
  23. Czari Zenovka wrote: It doesn't "sound" like mod/trans items would turn into full perms, although I honestly don't know at this point. The two comments: Merchant does not have rights to copy the items for sale and Note that Merchants can sell items that have next owner rights set to “No Copy” sound almost contradictory to me. To me it sounds like I can sell my things mod/xfer (no copy) without problems, but if someone wants to have a yard sale they can't sell my stuff via the DD box. If that's the problem, I can start delivering.
  24. What are the pixel dimensions of the texture you are uploading?
