  1. The pattern I see because I have a lot of inexpensive items sitting around as landscape decor, all of them set to sell copies,  is that the occasional hunter will go on a small shopping spree and buy a whole bunch of one kind of decor or visit the vendors and go nuts.

I should take the time on the next hunt to check hunters against later purchases.

Even if it doesn't increase sales noticeably, it's fun to make totally different things - I try to do something totally different for any hunt, not anything too close to my main products.

ahhh, thanks, I didn't know. I have no clue how to list it then, LOL. I listed a St. Patty's hat under Celebrations>Holidays>St. Patrick's Day. I've just changed it to Avatar Accessories>Hats, Gloves & Scarves>Hats. But, honestly it seems like a 50/50 chance on how folks would search that. LOL

If St. Patrick's Day Hat is in the title, it doesn't make much difference ... it will show up on search.

How do I list a direct delivery product
    in multiple, appropriate categories
in marketplace? Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm very new to selling on MP. For all the world it looks like I'd have to re-upload for each category....?

You don't ... pick the best category for that product and list it there.

Even if you re-upload for each category, if they are the same product duplicated, LL will inactivate them as soon as they notice.

"Item spam is creating more than one product listing for any single item, and will not be tolerated. The SL Marketplace provides ways to increase visibility for nominal fees. Consider an Item Enhancement. Clear variations of an item, for example, an item offered in multiple sizes (such as small, medium, and large shoes), or an item offered in multiple colors (such as a blue and black sport coat), are, however, allowed and are not considered item spam."

    Hello,

today I contacted a popular store owner for a business proposal.

As a very TINY merchant on SL, I get 2 or three "buisness proposals a weeki.

They are usually of the "I have a great idea, I want you to provide me with the lindens/land/talent to get my great idea going"

And you know what ... I'm not interested either.

And when I say "no", I'm not usually as polite as the person you contacted.

  5. After migration to DD, I have several products that cannot be set to active again.

Whatever I do, the option to activate the isting is grayed out. I followed all support instructions in detail, with no avail.

I had that problem, and deleting the product, then re-loading it into the outboc and sending it to the marketplace again fixzed it.

I also have one item that produced a doublet of itself during the migration process. So I have this item two times. One of them is affacted with the issue above and cannot be listed.

    Delete it.

  6. My mistake: YOu have to DELETE the DD products, then you might have to delete them from the unhassociated products. (I don;t want to mess up my store so I can't test it)

This is exaclty what I don't want to do: to touch every single product information.

My objective is to replace all associated items at once, as it can be done when using the Magic Box.

You will have to redo all the listings for the things in the magic box, just as you did when you put them in the original box ... there are no shortcuts.

And then when the Magic Boxes finally go away on April 16th, you can migrate everything back to DD all over again.

  7. DO THIS FIRST:

How do I remove all the Items that are uploaded for direct delivery?
Select them all and delist them all. Then delete them from the unassociated items.

    AFTER THAT ...

How do I migrate back to the Magic Box?

Put all your products - provided they are priced at $10L or more - back into a Magic Box.  Then upload the product pictures and fill out the product information just like you did when you first

    TIA, Nef

    PS: Come back here on
and let us know how it's going.

ive just opened a new store inworld and have no idea on marketing in sl, done the usual group gifts ..lucky letters etc.

1 - Is the store listed in your picks?  That's really critical.

2 - Make sure the parcel is listed in search. It's the best 30L you can spend.

SEARCH TIP: For EACH vendor, set the name and description of the vendor to match what's sold in the vendor.  And set the vendor object to show in search.

For example, the vendor for the hoodies could be given the name "men's black mesh hoody" and the description could say "black with white sleeve stripes, hood down or up, 5 standard sizes"

That gives your "men's black mesh hoody" vendor it's own listing in search, so when I'm in world and decide I need a black hoody ... it has a very good chance of showing up high on the list and being selected because it has very specific terms.

Don't get fancy, don't put everything you sell in the store in every description.  If I see "men women clothing casual hoody white jeans black red goth shoes bikini g string t shirt bra... etc" I'm less inclined to click the link to the store. It sounds like a disorganized mess and I want to find the danged hoody, not wade through a mess hoping that one of those things is a black mens hoody.

I noticed I have different names on MP listings and different names on my boxes in-world, so I bit myself in the butski there
    , didnt i? haha

Yes ... The transfer that had matching names went very smoothly, and the transfer of the remainder was a PITA.

I dumped them all across, found that about 2/3 were OK, and just trudged through the rest of them.

  10. System is Linux, with cable Internet connection ... used it before to set up DD

    Graphics Card: GeForce 8400 GS/PCI/SSE2
    OpenGL Version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 270.41.06

The official viewer has failed initialization several times.

    Second Life 3.4.0 (264911) Sep 19 2012 18:04:24 (Second Life Release)

The Firestorm Viewer initializes OK and the product vanishes from the outbox, but when I click "Create New Listing", I get this message.

"So sorry to keep you waiting. We'll be right back!
We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly."

It vanishes from the Unassociated Inventory box.

It's going to the Regular Inventory box ... but why not give me a me a message that I need to look for it in the unlisted Inventory instead of that misleading error message? I sent several copies before I noticed that it was actually sort of working.

Does anyone have some tips for me?

Well, I gave you tips about improving sales in the Marketplace a while ago and you have not implemented them.

Here's a tip: THERE IS NO MAGIC BEAN!

You have to have good products, with good titles and good descriptions and take good ad pictures ... and have patience.

    • Thanks 1
  12. I've been tracking freebie versus purchased sales for a full year ... Feb 27 through Feb 26

    Freebie only: 1646

At least one purchased item in the transaction: 4337

I'll have to see if I can figure out a way to detect the freebie+purchased group without reading any e-mails.

There were a few multi-freebie purchases, but it wasn't someone nabbing all my freebies. So far, all the ones I have checked have been multiple purchases (up to 5) of the same freebie.

I was thinking along the lines of a vendor automatically listing an item in your marketplace store, this would have potential for people using affiliate vendors too as those items would appear in their marketplace store too.

And when I look for the "FaceLight 2013", I get all of those affiliate vendor listings cluttering up my search.

The question is how do i sell it?

You open a shop on the marketplace and list your buildings on it. Take lots of pictures, have the measurements of the buildings, and have "footprints" (a flat plot of the area the building needs) for free so people can decide if it will fit their site or not.

Need some help and suggestions on how to come up with some good keywords for my marketplace products.

The only idea I've had so far was to research synonyms for the main keywords that best describe my products, but I haven't been able to find very good results.

Your problem starts not with keywords, but your titles and product descriptions. The search gives EXTREMELY high rankings to listing title, and you are not using it to accurately describe your products.

Can anyone tell me what style this dress is? "Innocence -- Lisane Dress MESH"

What is this product? "Midnight Tea Party - Fat Pack"  or this one "Innocence -- "Black Luciola" DEMO"

Look at the product you are listing ... if you saw it in a store and were going to tweet a description of it to me, what would you type? That's your title. Not your store name, not some romantin model name, not any adjectiuve like "spectacular" ... boring and prosaic: what is it?

thank you so much for your input and prompt reply. i will do that. do you have any recommendations on what place to rezz it?  from my understanding, rezzing places are rated general and i am naked! is there an adult rezzing place?

You can put some clothing on without rezzing anything ... there are outfits in the library.

  17. What do you need, An income from the Marketplace that is enough to pay tier on the parcel you want.

how do you go about setting one up,  Acquire parcel, rez buildings, rez and fill vendors with product.

do you rent land,  I rented a parcel from a superb landlord who developed an entire mainland sim as a mixed residential/commercial sim. He was landlord for several years and it was great. Others were constantly having landlord hassles.

He decided to leave the business and offered the remaining tenants their parcels, so I bought it.

do you rent a shop, Not the best idea. You are at the mercy of your landlord for landing points, etc and they can suddenly go out of business leavng you stranded.

do you need to build it yourself  At least rez it yourself. Decide what kind of shop theme and decor you want and buy the buildings.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, how much it costs you. Tier for the mainland parcel is all it HAS to cost. Everything else is optional. I used some well-made freebies for buildings until they became too small, then built my own in a similar style.

    ==========

I second the recommendation to have a marketplace-only store until your income can support the cost of the tier. Have enough product for a well-filled shop before you open.

  18. I know there is something about being able to share prims within a region. So if I owned two parcels within a region - even if they're not connected - they would share prims...I think.  Yes they will.

If I've got that straight, then exactly what is a region?  It's what most of us call a "Sim ... the named square of land where our parcels are.

For example, my main parcel is in Peronaut ... if I buy more land in Peronaut and leave it empty or just use a few of its prims, I can use that prim allowance on my main parcel.

Even if it's empty, the parcel I have in the sim called Laserlight can't be used to put more prims in Peronaut.
