But the last communication from CTL indicated MB would not be shut off until the issue with no copy items changing permissions in DD was fixed and afaik, it is not. So all my mod/xfer items can turn into full perm? I'm so not happy abpouit that, and really glad I procrastinated.
  2. I'm still at 100% magic box too. Never had many delivery problems, so there was no incentive to change. However, this grace period won't last forever so I probably should start the process. I only have 300 or so items and fortunately I keep things almost organized in my "for sale" folders.
  3. There are a few high quality full perm things out there, but the bulk of the BIAB things are not worth the storage space in your inventory. I carefully pick the ones I choose to pass on or keep and delete the rest. It's a brainless way to wind down ... go to a sandbox or my skybox, rez things and decide if they are woirth keeping. A successful session means rezzing a couple hundred freebies and deleting all but one or two of them.
  4. Many of my products are based on photos taken by others. However, I use only images whose creator has stated that it's acceptable to make derivative works. Wikimedia Commons, SXC.HU and other sources. Are you sure the uploader you mention has not been using similar images?

Its a great feeling and it made me wiggle around in delight. Did anyone else feel this way after the first sale? Definitely! It wqas like that Sally Field Oscars speech ... THEY LIKE ME!
  6. I want to make a tartan skirt. Found a lovely tartan pattern that I can multiply to make a seamless texture. Now, for the end of the skirt, I want to cut the bottom of the texture into little realistic strips of wolly fabric, like in real life. But I don't know how to get that effect. Any ideas? You can make the fringe effect by erasing parts of the tartan to transparent along the bottom of the texture. However, if you do this, you have to make all the repeats in your graphics program, then upload. If you set multiple repeats inside SL for the skirt's prims, you will have multiuple fringe sections all over the skirt. If the skirt is not made with flexi prims, you can make a fringe texture and apply it to a flexi prim for the bottom of the skirt.
  7. I see your listings. Close your browser, re-open it, and try again.

I wanted some low-prim things to decorate my parcel with ... and building was a lot of fun, so I kept doing it. Then someone asked me to make something for them and PAID me.

Regardless of the number of freebies I have had listed, the ratio of freebie to $L transactions has been stable at about 1 freebie to every 2 $L transactions. any idea how many freebee sales lead to a L$ sale or not? No. I could set up some sort of a filter that could identify repeat sales to an avatar, and then report those sales repeats that started with a freebie ... but it wouldn't be easy. Currently, I sort my notification emails into two folders ... one has sales reported of $L0 and the other is all sales with non-zero transactions. These may include a freebie and some not free product. One common sales cluster is the free stone shed, and some not free hay and farm animals to go in it. Or polar bears with the free ice floes.

  11. very pretty skirts. And, BTW, fashion can't be copyrighted. So if you can do mesh, go ahead and make some.
  12. You may be seeing a combination of shape and prims or mesh. Musculature comes partly from the shape and the rest from the shading on the skin.
  13. Look at the scroll sculpts. With a newspaper texture applied, it might work.
  14. Do you fuss over the prim names and keywords making sure they're all "show in search"?- Damn straight I do! Most of the prims on my land have a good description of what they are or what they contain, and are set to show in search. For example, the prim that makes each shop building describes what I am selling in that building, as do the signs on the building and the prices over the vendors. Each vendor describes its contents. Because many of my products are for decor or landscaping, if I rez one for decorating the parcel, I also set it for sale (sell a copy or sell contents) and to show in search. I make sure the description is accurate. Do the Linden classified ads and Picks work as far as letting people find you better? I have never paid for an ad. However, be sure to use your picks! Have at least one pick with a link to your store. I have lost track of the times I have seen something interesting, clicked on the creator profile and seen either nothing or just links to their sex partners. For Marketplace, make sure your product titles and descriptions are clear and very descriptive. Tell me what a stranger would describe it as: color, product type, style, whatever. Use keywords carefully, don't just copy and paste the same ones for every product. If I'm looking for a black kimono and your black Goth corset shows up because you included misleading keywords or copypasted something to cover your corsets and kimonos, I will report you for keyword spam because you wasted my time.
  15. And the new GIMP lets you warp an image to match a curve, so you can put that knitted edgeing on a sweater's neckline without tearing your hairs out 1 by 1.
  16. It's the wrong model and the wrong background 1- You are selling the DRESS ... so take screenshots with an uncluttered background that lets the dress details stand out. Purple drapes and a purple dress is camoflauge, not advertising. the shot against the tree was poor because the cluttered background made it hard to see the dress. 2 - If there are multiple versions, and accessories, show them in secondary pictures. A view with the short skirt and a closeup of the hat would help sell. 3 - Don't put informaiton that might change (like price) on the ad text. You don't need ad text for the marketplace ... the permissions and price go into the listing. If it's a dress or hat made for specific sculpted or mesh furries, use that furry. But if it fits on a normal system shape, use human and furry in the ad.

Jeanne If you cash out, it goes out through PayPal. PayPal will let the IRS know about money coming in, so he will be paying taxes on it. It's considered "miscellaneous income" by the IRS, or could be declared a hobby or even a business ... depends onhow you want to do it. I declare it as "hobby income". Haven't reached the thresholdof needing to pay withholding on it yet.
  18. Start with the listings...changes here are free and easy and affect how easy you are to find in search. The TITLE must describe the product well enough that the potential customer can decide right then if it's possibly what they want, and click on your product to see more. EXAMPLE: "*W*D* Anime Neko Top - Sister Kitty" doesn't tell me what you are selling. Except it covers the top of a character, Leave out the stray characters like *W*D* because no one searches for them and get right to the description: what it is, what color and what features. It's a ... mesh tube top with anime neko ... and give the color. If there are several color variations, list each one separately if you sell it separately. Or, if they all come in one box, call it a bundle. I can't tell from your descriptions what I'm getting. Leave "value judgment words" (cute, fabulous, thrilling, etc.) out of the text. If it's fabulous, the pictures should make it clear how fabulous it is. PICTURES ... where are her arms in the tube top picture? Take pictures of the product in a real pose in front of a real background and upload them. Don't edit in fancy backgrounds and add fancy text. It gets in the way of sales. And your editing is not well done - practice until you can lift the product image off without odd things happening to the edges.
  19. Good grief! I've been using SLfor several years, with TPVs, and not a single hack. Your problem is not the viewer, it';s your whole Internet lifestyle ... What Operating system are you using?

  21. Random Sixpence wrote: As a merchant I will say abusing keywords is a pain when you are looking for something. But people, please bear in mind that you have no idea what keywords the merchant is using, and it could be it is not the merchant's fault but that of the system that throws up unrelated material. You can see the keywords a merchant is using ... look at the "page source" for the listing page. Search works from the listing title, the keywords, the features, and (maybe) the first few characters of the description.
  22. Jasmine Edenflower wrote: I have noticed several Merchants that when I do a keyword search their items show up, but their items aren't really related. I report a merchant for keyword abuse whenever their items show up inappropriately when I am searching for things. If I am looking for a lamb, and they have labelled all their pigs as lambs, I report them. I do it because if they are making search less useful, it hurts all the merchants ... including me. Reports are anonymous, so don't worry about it. Reports are reviewed by a real human before anything happens to the listing. Also - I heard this a long time ago - accurate reports tend to get you on the list of people whose reports get looked at first, and inaccurate reports get you on the list of people whose reports are low priority. NOTE: to see the keywordsa someone is using, in Firefox, use the "View Page Source" tool. The keywords will be near the top of the page as meta name="keywords" content= For example, my bloody footprint textures are meta name="keywords" content="Halloween, murder, crime scene, bloody,"

  24. Deja Letov wrote: Grid wide hunts - I think this is very bad information. I've gotten a lot of sales from Grid Wide hunts. I am ending the Twisted Hunt here in a few days and trust me...I watch people come in with that "hunter" tag on and I see people all the time lookng around my store and buying quite often. One of my highest spenders for the month, spent 7500L in my store on 2 separate visits. She had never been in before the hunt. I think these are crazy successful, at least they have been for me. I do hunts because they force me out of my comfort zone - I try to make something outside the normal product line that requires learning a new skill somewhere. And it's fun.
  25. Before you start throwing money at ads or time on hunts, fix your listings. I looked at your shop, and you are not giving people who view your products enough information about the product to make them want to buy. The texture packs: HOW MANY TEXTURES?" Loads is not a number. Here's your door pack description: "Texture package with loads of door textures for casual, industrial, garage and multi purposes. NOT MEANT FOR RESALE." Proofread your ads ... because here's your wall texture pack's description: "Texture package with loads of door textures for casual, industrial, garage and multi purposes. NOT MEANT FOR RESALE." You need to tell me how large the textures are, too. Are they seamless? Also, you seem to be reselling the same batch of freebies from the internet as everyone else. Make your own textures. =============== How many prims and how big are the car park and the subway station? If I don't know, I won't buy. =============== Other things like the listings for the belt and boots needs some descriptive test in the title. "BELT" is not enough. What style belt is it? If I'm looking for combat boots, your boots are not going to be anywhere near the top of the list. Same with the belt. ============== Search on the marketplace is heavily influenced by the TITLE of the listing, so be very careful to use descriptive words. What would your potential buyers be looking for? EXAMPLE: If you are looking for purple camouflauge textures ... there may be several, but mine is at the top. Because the title is using words that people looking for them would be entering into search. I don't give them funky names, I don't have my shop name in there, taking up precious space ... it's 100% descriptive.
