Where were you hanging out?!?!? ^^^ This. 5yrs for me and I've been to some seedy places. Never have seen anything like this.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if a LL moderator's banning your account at this very moment. You'll probably go to prison in RL too, where you'll have plenty of time to reflect on your 'hilarious' pranks. LMAO
  3. Nothing! Just name the box so you'll know what's in it and drag what you want to put in it into the contents of the prim. Be advised, tho - when you want to unpack that box, you'll have to unpack everything in it back to your inventory to get the item you need.
  4. Does it work? Where can we find some to fawn over? Are the perks of the relationship any good? Fill me in. I'm up for some fawning.
  5. If you can mod the scripts, you can see the scripts. If you can see the scripts, you can steal the scripts. That's my understanding.
  6. Nobody knows anything. I tried this, too - with a thread of my own.

Actually it will not be "new Second Life". Ebbe was referring to it as "Next Generation Platform". He also said that it will be "in the spirit of Second Life". So that gives a hint that it will have some similarities with Second Life. Ebbe has also said that it will be "better and more advanced" in many ways compared to Second Life. For this reason, I don't think anything - Ls or otherwise - is going to transfer. It doesn't make sense to bring 'old stuff' onto a 'new platform' that's rumored to be 'bigger, better, greater' than SL as we know it. If they wanted to support the 'old stuff', I doubt they would go to the trouble of creating a whole new platform to support it, rather than modifying the current one.
  8. Sassy Romano wrote: Information already succinctly provided in the policy. Either ask yourself whether the games you mentioned fit into the definition of a skill game or not, if this is not clear, seek legal advice:- “Skill Game” or “Skill Gaming” shall mean a game, implemented through an Inworld object: 1) whose outcome is determined by skill and is not contingent, in whole or in material part, upon chance; 2) requires or permits the payment of Linden Dollars to play; 3) provides a payout in Linden Dollars; and 4) is legally authorized by applicable United States and international law. Games in which Second Life residents do not pay to play are not within the scope of this Skill Gaming Policy. “Skill Games” are not intended to include and shall not include “gambling” as defined by applicable United States and international law. I've highlighted the important part, ask yourself whether the games you mentioned 2) requires or permits the payment of Linden Dollars to play; 3) provides a payout in Linden Dollars People shouldn't be giving anecdotal advice, this is right up there in lawyer land really, it's a massive CYA exercise so taking anecdotal advice is ill advised if you're not able to understand the policy yourself. I'm not trying to be obtuse, just be blunt about where in legal land this lies. I really don't care about the Sploders, contests, etc., but I DO like 7 Seas. The 7 Seas system doesn't pay out money, except when contests are held, but it does require an investment of at least bait and I think you can only use the 'free' rod for so long until it becomes useless - which means you eventually do have to buy one. Essentially, it's a 'game' we're paying into to play, even if it's not an entry fee or wager of a bet. Although your catches do get better as your experience level increases, it still amounts to chance because you cast, wait, then reel in whatever the server gives you (or doesn't) - by chance.
  9. Something that just came to mind is the enforcement issue. Does this new policy mean LL is going to be more active/visible in world to crack down on violations? Or is there going to be some forced upgrade to the whole infrastructure to not allow rez'g of any of this stuff by anyone who is not 'part of the compliance system'?

With all the back and forth and commentary and the WTFs, honestly - I just can't keep up with the actual Qs and As. In other words, you're just too lazy to read through the whole thread... you're not alone. Actually, no. In other words, I did read the whole thread, but all the incessant bitching and moaning from people on that thread did nothing, but detract from the conversation at hand, infuse way too much 'hear say' or 'as I understand it' and confuse people even more. This post wasn't about whether or not I read the thread in its entirety - I did. This post was (supposed to be) about clarity and brevity because it seems that we are SOL when it comes to finding either, as they apply to this topic.
  11. Yes. I do realize there is an "official" thread on the same topic. I also realize that thread is pushing 40 pages in length. With all the back and forth and commentary and the WTFs, honestly - I just can't keep up with the actual Qs and As. I figured there were other people with the same dilemma. So, I thought having a short version of the Q & A thread would help people easily find the FACTUAL information that has been determined thus far, as per the official thread. Maybe we can post our questions here in one handy location and someone who is more versed in the Skilled Gaming Policy can answer them for us, making the answers easier to find without all the discussion. My questions are: 1. Are club contest boards (Best In _________) with no entry fee subject to the new policy, meaning the club owners have to comply with the policy in order to continue to hold such events? 2. Same question in regards to club Sploders that you DO have to pay into to enter. 3. Same question in regards to 7 Seas Fishing. 4. Same question in regards to table games you might have at your house (Greedy, SLopoly, Hold 'Em, etc.) for personal use. I hope others will ask their questions, too. Thank you all in advance.

Totally unrelated to the 'announcement', but seeming like as good a time as any, I decided to take a break from SL just this week. I haven't been 'feeling' it for a long time now so I let my parcel go and packed up after saying a couple goodbyes for now. I'll still peek in on the forums to keep up with the big 'happenings', but after 5yrs, eh - it's kinda lost its luster for me.
  13. Stop working for free and let LL figure out how to retain users for themselves. BTW - if I had a 'pet' attached to me in SL all the time, I wouldn't bother logging in.
  14. My opinion is that they are now using SL as a scapegoat and all the monies we've put into it are going to finance the other project. Working out the kinks here to know what to do better there. And I'll even go as far as to say that the next version of SL (or whatever it is) won't be free. Subscriptions will be mandatory.
  15. That's not curvy. That's a trainwreck deformity. I'm all for thick avatars with even proportions - I have one myself. But that ^^^^ is just ugly, IMO.

Stormm Firecaster wrote: I also use the CTS wardrobe to be able to quickly glance at a web page to see what I have outfit wise and just click a button and I am dressed, but that is a whole other topic. That's the closet thing I mentioned that I never used....lol. @Dillon - That was 20mins or so each login across 3-4 logins. The reason the number was so high (-2K) is because a lot of what I trashed were duplicates, notecards and calling cards. Not a lot of real 'stuff' yet, but I'm getting there!
  18. I've gotten rid of, roughly, 2k items in the past three days so that's a good start...I guess. Yes - folders are my preference, too. It's a neverending process, though. You delete 40 things and then open 40 more to see what they are and end up worse off than you started. I still have hunt gifts from 2009/2010 and holiday stuff I haven't opened from just as far back. Yes, I realize that if I haven't used them in this long, I probably won't, but what if I WANT it and just don't know it because I haven't opened it yet? And then there's the whole new free group gift at ________ messages that pop up from various groups during your cleaning time and you rush off to get it, only compounding your situation. And new hunts starting all the time.....*sigh* It's not that I really BUY stuff. I just find stuff to HOARD! More than half of it, as someone else said, is buildy stuff - sculpt sets and textures. Lots of which, you guessed it - haven't even been opened yet. *laughs* And the buildy stuff lead me to the 730470123423 items named "object" that I created along the way and forgot about. No, I don't rez them to see what they are - I just mass delete them. Just pointing this out so you all can get an idea what I'm working with lol. Thanks for your replies so far.
  19. Hi, everyone - After five years, I'm making a (semi) serious effort to get my inventory under control. It's only at 52K - not as bad as some, but far worse than others. Over the years I've heard a lot of tricks and tips about what people do to sort theirs. I've found most of it doesn't work for me. I don't like storing stuff away where I can't see it - like in boxes or texture organizers or that magic closet I bought for close to 1K lindens when it came out. Same for scripts/pictures/LMs on notecards - not for me. So what do you do? Put things in their place as soon as you get them? Hoard a bunch of stuff and sort it later? Share your knowledge with us. But if you have a magic "Sort Inventory Now" button that you could share, that would be even better. Thanks.
  20. Check the "Notices" tab of the group page when you log in. You will find whatever you missed there.
  21. I use IM. Chances are they have their settings where SL sends IMs to their email address so they will get the message long before they log in to SL. Hopefully, anyway.
  22. In Firestorm, I do notice a faster rez time with a considerably higher draw distance, yes.
  23. I've seen it, too. I thought it was someone that had attached something outrageous. I'm using Firestorm, btw - and saw this on the lowest graphics settings. My card's not that great.
  24. Unless you join some of the skin creator groups in SL to receive their group gifts when they are sent out.
