  1. Sorry, I can't read this to help. Too many run on sentences I don't have the urge to decipher.
  2. Yep, just search groups for free advertising. There are some with the word SPAM in the title, too. When I was in them, they were full of ads just like you're wanting to place.
  3. Myra Wildmist wrote: Are there other expenses I'm not thinking of? Textures, sculpts, trinkets, bits, bobs, scripts and templates, unless you're handy enough to make your own. Gifts/hunt items/MM Boards/Lucky Chairs are all 'expenses', of sorts because you make nothing from the items you give away. Uploading fees for the pictures/ads Paying staff/models if you're popular/big enough to have/need them Photography fees, if you're not happy with doing your own pictures for ads Advertising, if you go with SL radio ads, SL magazine ads, things of that nature Yeah, it can get real expensive real fast if you let it. Even if the merchants sell exclusively online, LLs takes a cut of every sale they make.
  4. I didn't think I did well at all until I read this thread. I, by no means, make any RL money here, but I make enough to piddle with buying building materials and to pay my $1400L/wk tier w/out having to buy Ls. I closed my inworld store down for a couple of months as I got burned out on it and am selling on MP only for now, that's where the income is derived from.
  5. Since you know what she's doing/saying - you obviously haven't muted her so, in theory - you must like the drama. Since your friends are also seeing/hearing what she's doing/saying and relaying it to you, they must also like the drama, which still means you like the drama because you put up with it/listen to them. If you're serious about getting rid of this lady - and I don't think you are - but if you truly are - 1. Mute her. 2. Tell your friends to mute her or keep whatever she says/does to themselves. If they won't, get new friends. 3. Ban her from your land/home. 4. Ask the place you work to do the same. If they won't, get a new job. 5. Put the spoon down and quit stirring the pot. I guarantee you that following these simple steps will just about rid you of this lady for good. In fact, simply doing #5 would help tremendously.
  6. Sigren Panthar wrote: Well, you could join the Gestapo? Quite honestly....have you really got nothing better to do than consider yourself one of the moral police? Let LL deal with any TOS violations: that is what they are paid for, and you are not. Griefing is going on wildly in many areas, affecting the game enjoyment of many, yet LL - and you - are impotent to stop it. Worrying about adult pose balls on a mature beach is not going to destroy SL. If you are sooooo pyschologically damaged by this, and worry that all us poor residents will plunge into the abyss of debauchery then why not try the hundreds of PG sims....and stay there. I agree. Unless it's blatant illegal/gross stuff like kid porn and the likes, why do you care? Even if it's on your home sim, you can't see it unless you look. So - don't look. Problem solved.
  7. I only get a line or two at the top of the page. Is there a full listing somewhere?
  8. I'll never trade a computer for a phone. Using my phone for Internet-related stuff doesn't even occur to me unless I'm out and need a phone number, address, etc.
  9. How To Avoid Being Phished, Scammed or Robbed: 1. Don't click the link. 2. Don't drink the KoolAid. 3. See Rules 1 and 2.
  10. Yanno, I've been here three years and, although not cool enough to attract stalkers, I've come to a few conclusions. If you mute someone and ban someone from your land and kick them from any groups that you have the power to and set said land to group only or some other restrictive setting that allows only the people you know and want there - it would be damned near impossible to be bothered by anyone you chose not to be bothered by ever again. The whole, "But I did all that and he still shows up wherever I go" bit is often the common reply and again, too thin to stick. How could he FIND you to show up where you are and (2) how could you know what he was doing/saying if he were muted and derendered as you previously swore you had done? The more you stir crap the worse it stinks. Put the frickin' spoon down already and move on. **You = you, collectively, a group, anyone **He = the stalker, male or female -whichever applies
  11. I know how the check boxes work (or used to work) and how you can see someone's online status if you share group with them or yadda blah - but I'm wondering about the Friend List/Status that shows up on the left side of your screen here when you come to the website. If Joe Blow has his little thing unchecked to 'hide' from you while online via his viewer, will this online status shown on the site list reflect that or will it out his true status? Just realized this today and got curious...anyone know?
  12. Nope - the majority doesn't want to talk....if you're outside their clique. Even the hosts/DJs in clubs are often too wrapped up in their social circle to even greet new arrivals any more. Sad, really. And if you IM someone first to say hello or introduce yourself, if you get a response - big if - it's usually one word and goes no further.
  13. RL does play a huge role in whether or not a person maintains their shop/sim in SL. Changing interests/boredom do, too. However, the lack of financial support that some shops/sims receive is contributing factor to many of the closures. Everything you do in SL, every sim you like to go to, every club you like to dance in, every activity you like to partake in is costing somebody, some where. All those freebies you dive in the stores to get? They also cost. Those club events you enter? Yep, they cost. The stuff given out to the members of the groups you join/instantly leave after receving - yep, that costs, too. Sploders? Those fantastically beautiful sims you explore? Those hunts? Gift cards? Your favorite DJs? Yeah, every thing has a price. Eventually, people do get tired of being taken advantage of by nobody buying their stuff and only taking the gifts, tipping, donating - whatever - and they pull the plug. And it's going to continue to happen. Eventually, all that will be left are Linden-owned hubs and clothes from 7 Rez Days ago.
  14. If you're using Phoenix, you can right click yourself and get your counts from the pie menu. Alternately, you can get free counters in world that, when clicked, display the # of scripts an avatar is running. High script counts on females are usually in their hair and their shoes. Better-made wigs will have a 'remove scripts' option and some of the shoes will, too. Just make a copy of them in case you need it before you remove the scripts. This, alone, should bring your count way down.
  15. Verena Vuckovic wrote: Ah....well in that case you really need to look into the group 'Verified RL Blind As A Bat' Unless or until your ability to be in Second Life and partake in what it has to offer hinges SOLEY on whether or not you are a tag-wearing member of one of those groups, you DO have a choice, you DON'T have a valid point and you ARE welcome to log off at the time and place of your choosing and never look back.
  16. Unless and until stupidity is classified as a crime - no. That's the only real 'crime' that I've found to be rampant in SL.
  17. Mod perms matter to me. The rest, eh. Maybe I want the thing bigger, pinker, bolder, lighter, darker, smaller. And you just don't offer that kind of selection in the item I bought. As I buyer, I don't see why so many creators are hell bent against giving mod perms. Prim parts on clothes are THE WORST about being no mod. Cuffs and collars and skirts - you know, one size does not fit all so if those parts are no mod, the outfit is rendered useless. Money wasted. Word of mouth advertising from a disgruntled customer. It's a downhill effect. As a creator, I always give mod perms. If I don't, it's an oversight and I will totally regulate that siutation when brought to my attention.
  18. I've spent buttloads of Ls one building materials. I've also gotten a lot through hunts and group gifts. The don't resell this as full perms bit is pretty common. But the only time I've seen the kind of restrictions you described are when full perm gifts are given to groups and such by the creator. One in particular comes to mind.
  19. Verena Vuckovic wrote: You seriously think these groups don't want to force anyone to prove anything ????? I don't see them trying to force it on anyone (namely you) so again, WHAT is your gripe?
  20. Verena Vuckovic wrote: "Your privacy argument is redundant since people joining these groups are doing so voluntarily." Well....no. The privacy argument is relevant because the entire basis of the existence of such groups is essentially an argument that people have no right to such privacy ! Anyone who is so paranoid that they feel that people simply must reveal their true status is effectively saying that the right to privacy itself must be overriden. And if you choose NOT to be a member of those groups - remind us again how their protocols affect you? Because until membership to such groups becomes mandatory, I'm just not seein' it.
  21. Verena Vuckovic wrote: The issue that I have is with inferences. Won't voice ? Won't 'verify' ? Oh....then you cannot possibly really be a woman. One is shoved into the 'fake' category by default Think about it. No, I mean really think about it.....should you really give a rat's arse what someone thinks of you in passing? Especially when that person is, more likely than not, 1,000s of miles - if not entire continents - away from you and the chance you will ever run across them in RL is between 0 and none? Because if you seriously do, then you might want to re-think immersing yourself in any online situation at all, ever - in any form, forum or context.
  22. I would rather be kicked in my arse than shop. That said, I moved on to designing most of the clothes I wear because I found it nearly impossible to NOT look like a hooker tramp, given the majority of selections in SL. I'm not a frilly girly girl and have no qualms about wearing my cleanest dirty thing in RL. Even though my bits are mere pixels, I want 'em covered. Boots and jeans for me.
  23. Highlight each of their names, one by one and choose the 'Delete/Remove' option that comes up.
  24. MoiselleErin Teardrop wrote: Would you stand by the person and take their side over some sim he or she is banned from? Nah. A true friend would laugh at her dumb arse for getting banned and then IM her from the sim a play by play list of all the fun she was missing out on.
