  2. Let me see if I understand. You want someone to create clothing, then split the profits with you. What exactly will you be doing to earn half the profits?
  3. There needs to be a sticky for this... anyone here have the capability to do that?
  4. Nillsen, to use the local texture option cost-free, you click the "add" button, not the "upload" button after choosing the "Local" option. "Add" will put the link to the texture on your hard drive into the 'local' window - and not cost you anything. You can then use that local texture link in-world, test it to your hearts content, then if you decide it works like you intended, THEN you can use the "upload" button in the local window, or just upload it the old fashioned way and use it in yoir creations at the cost of 10L. The local texture feature does not cost you ANYTHING. The upside to this new method is that when you make changes to the local texture on your hard drive, the texture automatically updates in-world, so it's really a time-saver.
  5. You could also try Truth, DeLa, Magika, Wasabi Pills, Exile or Elikatera... I think they all carry pink shades.
  6. Agreed, Ceka. I'm a fan of the raw diet for my dogs, been feeding it for years and they love it and they are in really good health. Much better than the dogs I had that I fed commercial dog food, and they live longer. To the op - doubtful you could get the cat to eat much more than the hamburger part of a Big Mac... but it might be amusing to watch you try...
  7. Jillian Skinstad wrote: So many of the excellent artists and designers have left or are leaving SL. This could be because they cannot create or compete with the mesh products, or that LL is just not profitable anymore. Where did you get the idea that so many artists and designers are leaving or have already left SL? Or that they are all in it for the money? Many don't really leave, they re-brand and open new stores. Many don't ever make a profit at all, they do it because they love it. For every artist/designer leaving the neighborhood, there are just as many just getting started. SL evolves, it always has. If you don't like mesh clothing, it's really easy - you don't have to buy or wear it. Remember that in SL mesh is still in it's infancy and many creators are just now getting into their stride with it. Many designers are still creating non-mesh items as well -- for instance, my store is full of non-mesh items and new stuff gets added often - but I'm not here to advertise :matte-motes-big-grin:
  8. are you wearing any scripted or high-prim items? also, your internet connection can be a factor as well. I'd also physically check your graphics card, see if it has a fan and if it's moving freely or possibly compromised by dust.
  9. seriously, it means absolutely nothing mell. ignore it and don't waste another moment giving it any thought at all.
  10. The only difference in the photos below is windlight settings. Left side is the Firestorm pre-set 'Places Paris,' while the ones on the right are the SL default lighting.
  11. If your hair is flexy, in order to change the flexibility you must choose each piece of your hair seperately - 'edit linked parts' - and change them one at a time.
  12. Same here, been using sl for years with no major issues. Now I crash to desktop with no warning -- but in my case it's any time I edit a prim, flexy prims seem to really make the viewer unhappy, just grabbing it to edit = crash. This has been going on for several months for me, except for a two-week stretch when it seemed to stop, but that ended two days ago - now I'm back to crashing whenever I edit anything. I'm using Firestorm, btw, with fios internet connection... usually on a sim by myself.
  13. Skin creation is incredibly difficult, Gavin, at least QUALITY skins are anyway. They take a huge amount of time and a pretty thorough knowledge of Photoshop or Gimp or similar type software. I wish I could steer you to a good tutorial but I am not aware of any you havn't probably already tried. The Eloh skin files are a great place to start tho, taking them apart and trying different things with them can teach you a lot. You can deconstruct the skin with these files and really see how the layers work and come together in a final skin. Having done this extensively myself, I can't tell you there is an actual 'process' other than trying things and seeing how they work, and how they match up to what you're trying to accomplish.
  14. There is a gap in the avatar mesh between the shirt and pants layers, it's always been there and there is nothing you can do about it... it does not show on the jacket layer, and you can sometimes camoflage it by wearing underwear layers using the same textures. There is an ancient JIRA about it, don't expect this to ever be fixed. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SH-2103?
  15. No, a tattoo is removeable in SL, Silky. I have tattoos in SL and in RL, no regrets in either life.
  16. if you are prohibited from having anything to do with banking -- how do you buy your lindens now?
  17. it's how the light is reflecting off the prim. it's why people build shadows and light into the textures they use instead of using the preset bump maps available in the sl tool box.
