  1. I expect Tilia to respect EU laws. When they follow EU laws I know that my privacy is guaranteed. They have two options, not to demand a scan of my ID, or become a registered bank. Else, Tilia has no business in the EU and there won't be any legal payout.
  2. None of them are relevant in the EU. It's that single one in Europe I am interested in. In Europe Tilia is not a bank. Pay Pal is.
  3. Do you believe a website? I believe in official documentation. Tilia is not a bank and not a banking service. Pay Pal is. Bank of America too.
  4. In the document you refer to that is a hyperlink that links to this document .
  5. Towards companies. That is true. My mistake. But authorities can and do.
  6. Tilia is not registered as a bank, I checked (see above). They have no business asking and storing this type of information.
  7. Hence LL is already fully subject to GDPR.
  8. yeah! They removed the privacy related posts for yet unexplained reasons.
  9. It comes back to the question, how reliable is the given information? That goes for EU citizens and for US citizens. In the end there is only one way, and that is to ask authorities. That comes into action is illegal stuffs is suspected. All LL has to do, can do, is gather ID information to identify an individual in such a way authorities can work with it. LL isn't the one going after drug gangs, terrorists or tax evaders. The authorities do.
  10. If LL doesn't follow the rules of my country then they can not do business with me and the rest of the EU. It's not that complicated. Many businesses know how to do business. Ask PayPal.
  11. Good analysis. LL has to reasonably prove that a person is who they say they are. I have handed the way to do that for the Dutch, and I assume the same goes for other people in the EU that have an ID. Name, Address, DOB, Scanned passport number. In doubt they, or higher authorities, can ask the Dutch authorities if it matches. That way they fit within GDPR rules AFAIK.
  12. Some interesting readings here and here. I expect LL is well aware and is trying.
  13. You can read that Tilia is flexible towards the UK and people without an ID. I expect they will find a way.
  14. If Linden Lab doesn't follow the laws of my country it can get banned from my country. If it gets banned from my country it will get banned from the rest of the EU. It's that simple.
  15. Apparently not. I am amazed the LL-legal missed that.
  16. Nice to know. There is a "scan passport mask" available. If a scan is needed you place the mask over it and scan it. That way you are in compliance with the law. Another mask here.
  17. I did. Tilia is not a bank. PayPal is. PayPal can demand a scan of my passport, Tilia can't.
  18. I don't have to. I'm not Tilia. But anyways: https://www.dnb.nl/toezichtprofessioneel/openbaar-register/WFTKF/index.jsp?filter_value=&naam=paypal#overzicht
  19. I and others have pointed out, in the FAQ thread, that Tilia can not demand a scan from Dutch passports as described in this government article. Tilia is allowed to receive a passport-number, or divers-licence number. If a scan is requested the Dutch are allowed to cut out everything except that number. One thing you are not allowed to demand is the Dutch SSN (in Dutch Sofi nummer), that is an absolute no-no. Only banks and employers are allowed to demand a full scan. Tilia is not a bank, Pay-Pal (Europe) is. I request an update of the FAQ so that the Dutch can pay out if needed without breaking Dutch regulations. We don't want to do anything illegal, neither does Tilia. For people looking at the FAQ thread and can't find these posts. LL has removed them.
