  1. The Fashion Loft (TFL) is proud to host our first contest! We are looking for the sexiest avatars on the grid - do you think you have what it takes to win? The contest will take place on October 15th, 2016 at 1 PM SLT. Contest entries must be submitted via mailbox by October 8th at 12 PM SLT. The mailbox can be found at Model's Haven . The Fashion Loft started over 4 years ago as The Creative Loft in SL fashion. It was a team of models, teachers, stylists, and fashionistas that loved to help models learn the basics of modeling. They also specialized in producing fashion shows for several prominent designers in SL. Now, TFL intends to do the same under a new banner and team. Participants will be asked to style a sexy Halloween-themed outfit using at least one item from our list of sponsors: Aleutia, Athena Couture, Dot-BE, Finale Couture, Ghee, Heth Haute Couture, Lulu, Milk Tea, Nomiki's Creations, Selene Creations, Sweet Tea Couture, and TentatioN. Special thanks to our media and other sponsors: AIM, ELLY Models, ENVY Magazine, Kent Photography, ModeLS Magazine, PURE Fashion & Modeling Academy, The Manor Suites, and Visionaire Institute. The first place winner will win 5000 Lindens, a double page spread in 2 magazines, gift cards totaling over 5000 Lindens, and more. For a full list of prizes for the top 3 winners and details on how to enter, please visit https://www.facebook.com/thefashionloftsl/. Contact either Red Jess (redtess69) or Moni (monica.querrien) for any questions on the contest.
  2. When I need to buy Lindens, I put my credit card/ debit card info in, get the money, and then delete the information. That way you can still buy what you need without your account getting compromised. A merchant told her group that a while ago after her account was compromised, and I have been doing that ever since. I was not aware of the issue with prepaid cards and PayPal - that is definitely something to keep in mind.
  3. If you still need bloggers, you can always apply to this website...their group has access to over 1k bloggers. https://slbloggersupport.com/resources/designers-looking-for-bloggers/
  4. A designer has to not only make the clothing, but the ad for the clothing, and then market the clothing (although sometimes the designer can get someone to help with that). Sometimes it helps if someone who has experience in styling can help bring out the beauty in the design. That way the designer can focus on other things and not worry about buying items for the alt (or themselves) to style their outfits.
  5. I would be interested in modeling your skirt. I have experience in taking photos since I am a blogger, and I am a model in SL. Here are links to my blog and Flickr.
  6. Hello - I have left you a message inworld regarding blogging for you. Thanks for considering me!
  7. I would entertain the notecard, if written well. Besides people who abuse voice in public areas and gestures at clubs, it takes quite a bit to get on my mute list. I am not annoyed easily as some people who are quick to ban / mute for everey squabble or if they have a differing opinion. There are some crazy people in SL and sometimes you may find yourself muted for no good reason at all except for the imaginary one in their heads. When I ban from a parcel or sim, it's usaully due to the behavior exhibited at the sim. Griefers...tresspassers, you know the usual. Where I work, if renters are not compliant with the rules and communication has shut down, that's also grounds for a ban. I don't think people like that would care if they are banned/muted though lol.
  8. In the past, I have noticed when you wear certain huds, it will cause the Maitreya hud not to work. I discovered that when i was wearing my LIFE2 hud. Also, if you are (or were) in a laggy sim, it can cause significant delays in the hud responding. Then like others said, relogging can help.
  9. I would look on FB, Flickr, and the SL blogger support website to check who is looking for bloggers. I would also join inworld blogger groups such as SL Blogger Support. It helps if you put your blog and Flickr link in your main profile, so you can get more hits and subscribers. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

  11. I know with Maitreya, you use the relay to wear the appliers. I don't think Slink has the relay last time I checked. And the one that I saw on MP allows you to convert Slink appliers to omega ones, but doesn't let you use Omega on Slink, like this one: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Slink-NC-Converters-for-Omega-System/6220789
  12. I got my custom computer last month after the power source in my old one died, and Dell said they couldnt replace it. I have a GTX 970, and standing on the sim where my photo studio is, I am getting anywhere from 80-100 FPS with 10 people on the sim (but not near me). At crowded events it goes down to like 40 FPS, and one time down to 33 when the sim was significantly lagged out. And it's not overclocked (I don't know how to do it, and it would had cost me more to have the store do it for me). I have other issues with my computer (which is why I am taking it back to be serviced next month), but luckily frame rate is not one of them. I agree with everyone that has said there is some setting that isn't quite right. Or maybe there is a fault with the card itself?
  13. Give it some time...Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is learning about Second Life. Did you check out the "Make Friends" forum?
  14. Considering the fact that there are blogs that say nothing then show a picture and a list of credits +slurls, punctuation may or may not be a major factor in blogging. But it's always good to present yourself in the best light possible, especially when looking for stores to entrust you with their creations to blog. Most designers won't pick you to blog if they do not have a good idea of what your blogging style is. Like Quiggles said, start with clothing that you already have. Also, you can try taking pictures of items at events or hunts, and putting them on your blog, along with vital information. If you see a cool group gift, blog it ^^ This will make your blog a vital resource for people and also help you get your blog posts in. You should aim for 30 blog posts and 3 months active as a blogger before approaching designers. Once you have this under your belt, where to find designers? Are you a member of Flickr? If you join and follow people, you may be able to see when designers advertise for new bloggers. Be sure to pay attention to their requirements. There are number of blogger groups inworld where designers request for bloggers. Are you a member of Facebook? If you look up "SL Stores Looking 4 Bloggers", you can see what the designers want from their bloggers. So as you can see, there are ways, but you have to put in the work first. Good luck! ^^ asnd if you need help feel free to message me inworld.
  15. Thanks to everyone who have submitted applications so far! You still have time to apply. I am offline at the moment because my home computer has an issue, but I will start interviewing as soon as I can get back online. Thank you for your interest!

  17. I think Blueberry also had mesh jeans that work with boots - saw them a couple months ago on Flickr.
  18. This is a good site on where you can get skins for the Lena body (and a lot more): https://meshphysique.wordpress.com/
  19. You know I hear this a lot (any newb can do modeling), and to me this is why you have to know what you are doing. Something simple as a walk can be critical if you want to show off a creator's piece on the runway without legs sticking out from a dress. Something like a pose can look awkward and displeasing if the right one isn't used for an outfit. Poses used for pants won't be the same one that are used for gowns. What happens if there is lag during a show and your scripted AO is shut down? Would you know what to do then? A newbie wouldn't know. How about editing prims to fit the body correctly? A newbie wouldn't know that, either. I had a 31-day old newbie who wanted to be a model, and I was a hiring manager at a store at the time. She got SO frustrated because she couldn't edit a simple prim belt. Using sliders to create a shape. Do you know how attached people are to their shape? Models need to be flexible so that they can make the creations look ideal - even if it means narrowing your hips here or widening your chest there. Sure there are deisgners that model their own clothing, and then some of them wonder why sales aren't doing as well. They can't style (because simplying wearing an outfit without taking into consideration accessories is not enough), and sometimes they can't take a decent photo because they are looking at themselves subjectlively instead of objectively. And yes some ask their friends, but in couture shops many do hire models. There are modeling groups in world where they ask for in-store models from time to time. Models can be a great marketing tool because it gets a designer's brand out to a different market. There is a growing trend for models to have blogs - it helps develop their styling creativity. For good bloggers, I would even consider them loosely print models. I wish you good luck Passeando and hope you find a good school to see if modeling is for you.

  21. i don't know if they have poseballs for catwalk per se. Wouldn't it be easier to get an empty ao from vista, and have the people in the date auction use their own walks and poses? If you want one all built in, you can look here for it: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Fashion-Runway-Stage-87-Animations-Poses-Lights-Changing-Room-Pose-Stands-Mirror-Low-Prims-Copy-Modify/3504573
  22. 2 things; 1. Where did you get your makeup from, and what skin was used for the base? 2. I'm curious as to what would make you want to do a dramatic look with the eyes, but not wear eyelashes that would show up against the makeup? It's like puting a lot of eyeliner/eyeshadow, but not wearing any mascara.

  24. 57,935 items in over 4 years. It was a bit more than that, but I am slowly working on cleaning up my inventory. Some people do get affected by large inventories. Plenty of my friends say when they use alt accounts, they have an easier time in SL than when they have their main account with a large inventory. And plus I think the larger your inventory is, the more likely you will lose stuff and not even know about it.
