  1. I will try all suggestions next time when we are both inworld and report back here!
  2. @Peewee, thanksagain,. I will give those option a go when I am inworld next time! I have to say, thinking about her and her avatar....about a year ago, waaayyyy before this issue with me came up, she has had her avatar "repaired" by Linden Lab. Dont know exactly what was the case, but she could not login for some hours and got an email from LL that her avatar had been located and taken over for 'repairs'. Back then, we laughed about it and declared her all newborn and stuff, as a joke and never gave it much thought. But coming to think of it...maybe she still has a broken avatar ? ( if that exist?) Whoa!
  3. btw: ARC in V2 is : advanced menu > performance tools > Avatar rendering cost
  4. @george, and thanks to you too! This is just a silly issue, really! I can interact with her, fight....do our game...I just cant see her good...lol
  5. @Peewee, thanks so much for thinking with me! I have a ATI Radeon 4850 HD, and no she has no high ARC. Her connection is good as well, we are katana-fighters and do all we can to have as less ARC/prims/scripts and such as possible when fighting, her speed (and mine) are fine (I may add she is even faster than me at times this whole thing does not affect our game). FPS perfect for fighting. We keep ARC;s always under 1000 (around 700-800) specially for our game. It is really a mystery for us! I cant say something changed on my pc when this started, I have not switched ISP, only use V2, did not install any software/hardware, do not run othere programs when in SL (even close internet/msn/photoshop and all, for the sake of the fights...) and one day..this came up.
  6. @george, as I said in my OP, I am the only one that sees her like that. That's why I wondered if it is something on my side.
  7. @Peewee, nope rebake turns her from completely grey to very blurry (but coloured), so still not great... (I tried rebake myself, let her rebake..clear cache and login next to her on same spot...nothing changes..)
  8. @george, not completely, she does look better after that, but its temporarily...so still not a real fix.
  9. Hi Peewee, yeah, did that. It only helps for the session I stay logged in. Next login (she or me) she is all grey/blurry again.... Odd eh? Why only her? lol!
  10. Well no, I am on viewer 2 since it came out and never had issues with it, this is happening since a couple of weeks. I would rather not change viewer for one avatar, if there may be a solution for this.
  11. I use Viewer 2, the latest, and since a couple of weeks there is only one avatar (a friend I see online everyday) that will never load for me, she always stays grey and I only see the prims she wears (half boots, sleeves, her hair and such). Sometimes it is better: then she is just blurry all over. But never sharp! I only have that with her, the rest of SL population is perfectly loaded for me. Others see her perfectly normal! I have cleared cache, re-installed viewer and all, but for some reason she keeps being a grey skinned lady, or blurred. (when she rebakes, on my request, it does not help!) Is this an issue on my side, and if so: what can I do? Additional info, in case it helps: Me: desktop, windows7 64 bits, viewer2 She: Laptop, imprudence viewer (and till a coupe of weeks ago this did not happen) ETA: it is solved, she logged into V2 for the first time in her Slife and after that she looks normal as usual, no more grey or blurry, even when she is back to her TPV..... (gave the solution to this to the long string of comments under the answer of Peewee)

  13. Never easy to 'shoot' a dance in one go, I usually end up with at least 25 pics and then hope to find one that is good enough! I don't go out much, but sometimes I am lucky! I like this picture, only thing I can't help is that I seem to be hovering above the dancefloor, or am I stepp;ing on his feet? heh!
  14. One of my favourite dresses, I have to admit I have worn this on many occasions (even though I have my inventory stuffed with lots of other nice ones!)
  15. PIC, FIC, SIC..? I am offline (well, sort of) for a week and already completely lost in here and what this is all about (and referring to Star Trek makes it even worse, as I have no clue about that either). I suppose it's something positive, so let me say: good luck, good bye, take care and maybe see you again !
  16. I crashed, so I thought it was me. But my dashboard says I have no friends and I need to make some.....this usually means there is something wrong! (or I really have no friends..boohoo....)

In any event, I think this thread could be a good place to help Linden Lab solve the naming problem. Any suggestions? My suggestion would be: roll back and stick to the first and lastnames as we had. Why invent a solution, while it was already there (and working, as far as I know...). ETA: I mean only the names when you create an account, the display-names..oh well, that can work anyway, if people like it, why not.
  18. I have absolutely no idea what you are on about, really. But as you posted this in community feedback I suppose it is some proposal to make SL a better place for all? Maybe someone will respond to you in this thread and perhaps one day it will make sense to me! Um. Good luck!
  19. You already got some great advices that will help you. I only can add, as katana-fighter in SL: we fight as very simple avatars..we wear no scripted items (other than our sword), detach (not only switch them off, but really detach) all HUD's, flexi-clothes and hair (it is possible to find non-flexi nice hair!) and lower the graphics. This may make us look less cool, but it sure helps with speedy fights . You roleplay, so perhaps you are wearing a very detailed armor of some sort? If so, maybe try a less primmy outfit? I use Viewer 2.5 and experience hardly bad lag in fighting, unless of course in a crowded sim or the occasional bad-SL-moments!

I don't know but sort of like it.. refreshes my memory:smileywink: Yeah. And it can be a nice surprise when you want to show SL to your Dad <any other familymember>, and forgot in what place/mood ..ehm...you logged off the night before....

There are very many Dutch and Belgium people in SL and I think we would greatly benefit from such a board. Name: Belgisch/Nederlands forum Do you agree? Hi Simon, I am Dutch, but do not see the benefits of yet another subforum. It would be more of the same for me, because I cannot think of Dutch specific topics which need a special forum. But that's my opninion, maybe there is a need..we'll see the responses !

It's easy to find out which regular community members and community experts have given Kudos to a message. Kudos that come from experienced community members may carry more weight -- literally -- than those that come from brand new members. Thanks for the complete answer, Keli. I do find this particular paragraph a bit odd, as it does not specify the 'community'. Does this mean a very experienced Second Life resident, let's say a 4-year old, who only just recently started posting (because for all kind of reasons they never got into it) is still considered a 'brand new member' (to the forum community) with a lesser weight? It could have been set that way, but instead we have all kudos set to equal one. ~ Lexie Ah okay, thanks .

  24. Caitlin is 6"2 (or close to it), used to be 5"9 and is considered a shorty...I am okay with it, I like her shape and height. Actually I only made her a bit taller for katanafighting, as it is very difficult (and sometimes considered unfair play) to fight a really short avatar. Has to do with the reach of the weapon's and the shorter the opponent is, the harder it is to hit them. So for the sake of fairplay, Cait grew a bit (in rl I am 5"6 and I do not feel short at all! )
