my best advice is to try to catch the person online. Unfortunately though crappy support is not uncommon in sl. For some once they get your money they could care less, especially on the market place.

My advice, tell them to F off. This has been beaten to death and LL not only allows child avatars and playing opposite genders they actually encourage it.
Last I knew unless they come out with new standards that I have not been informed about child avies can go anywhere on the grid if you are age verified. What you can't do is engage in lewd or pornographic acts. So no incest role play and the like. However if you are a teen in real life you are restricted to where you can go.
Let them report you, LL won't do anything about it, hell they probably won't even read it lol. And if someone keeps bothering you about it report them for harrassment.
And there is always the mute button.
And from the sounds of it, you are not playing as a child anyway, so double screw em. Just ignore them and do your own thing. Sl is a big place with plenty to do. If you like cars and racing you are more than welcome to come to our sim. We don't care if you are tall short, a furry, a tiny, a dragon or whatever. Heck sometimes I am all of that in the span of a week lol.

You can turn multi threading on, at least you can in most third party viewers, not sure about the official viewer. I think its in the debug menu somewhere though. Mine will use multiple cores but it doesn't use them all evenly. I think windows manages it or something.
That is kind of the thing with multi core CPUs, they keep getting more and more cores, but there still are not that programs that utilize it. Unless you are a hardcore gamer or work with 3-d software.
But what multiple cores will do is help you run more programs at once. I often have sl and various other programs like blender and what not open at the same time. And more cores seemed to help with multi tasking. As for sl performance, I noticed a difference when I went from 1 core to 2 cores, when I jumped to a 4 core I didn't notice any difference at all SL wise. My opinion you would be better off with a faster dual core than a slower quad core or more. For instance, you are running an 8 core cpu but its at 2.7 gigs. A quad core running at 3.2 or 3.4 might actually get you better performance over all.
But honestly, the only place most people would notice the difference is with benchmarking software. In normal use you would probably never notice it.

hmm, I will have to take a look at some of them. I tried them but never looked for the full screen option since I never use it. Might be in one of the third party viewers though. or you could use one of the third party that are not based on V2. Until they do away them lol. Let me check out some of the viewers later and see if any of them have it. I know the new beta with the basic mode is waay to basic. You can't control anything lol. But the frame rates are extremely high with it. Both in advanced and basic mode.

you could do that in phoenix too if you wanted. Just don't enable any of them and you won't see it. You don't see beacons by default anyway, you have to turn them on. Phoenix lets you decide if you want others to see yours, if you want to see theirs, if you want to see your own and if you want to see names above them or not.

Would you run around dressed iike a whore in real life? Lets face it second life isn't real life and tends to cater to adults. That being said, I actually swear less in sl than I do in real life because I have to type it and I can read what I say before I send it. Unfortunately if I used voice or in real life I don't have such a filter.
Oh, and I think they do have chat filters. Not sure what they are called or where you get them, market place I would guess. But when you type a bad word it will beeb it out and replace it with *&^*&^*% or something similar. I have seen others use them.

Can we buy a "Advance Builders Version of Secondlife" ?
No, all of SL's client software is free and has pretty much everything you need already in it. There is no Advanced builders viewer. However there are some third party viewers more geared toward building like Phoenix that have some extra features. These are free as well. Maybe you are thinking of Blue Mars where you have have to have a different account to be a devoloper or builder or something along those lines.
Wouldn't it help each sim, if there was light versions for newbs and people who do not have
any interest in building?Already out in the new SL beta viewer. I personally think its a bad idea though. Now you are handicapping people right off the bat with a view that has less features. I can't wait to start giving tech support to people using this viewer and I tell them to go to the edit menu and there isn't one lol.
I bought second inventory and went to the beta grid to upload some of my husbands stuff
inworld that I have full permissions on and nothing would load.I know nothing about this product, but I have played on the beta grid. When you go to the beta grid all of your inventory is not available. The first time you log on it will be, but if you go back to the regular grid and add something to your inventory and go back to the beta grid it won't be there. It takes a while for the beta grid to catch up. I think its a month or so! Like other have said I would seek support from the people putting this product out.
Is there a sculpting tool program that can take a photo from your computer and duplicate it for
uploading to SL and if so where can I buy it?I am a builder in SL and I know of no product that does this. If there was it would make sculpties incredibly easy to make and everyone would be making them.

Charging a fee for new accounts would kill new membership. SL takes some getting used to since there is no real "goal" to it. It took me a good 4 or 5 months to actually get hooked on sl. And at that time I did get a premium account so I could buy some land. I have since dropped it though because I decided it wan't worth the money to have a premium account for me. Had I had to pay to join at the beginning I would never had joined.
I think think they are probably doing pretty well as things stand. I mean seriously to buy a sim it costs you upwards of 1000 real U.S dollars and 300 a month to keep it. For fake land that doesn't even really exist. You could buy a car for that. Not a great one, but a new car anyway. If you have decent credit 1200 down and 300 some a month would get you a car or or something really nice in real life. Hell in the right area it could get you some cheap land.
And that doesn't count the money they get for buying lindens and the percentage they take from the market place.
And from what I understand they don't even run that great of servers. They are not running high end expensive servers, instead they run a whole bunch of intel and amd servers like most of us could build. Granted I am not about to build and network 8,000 plus servers though lol.

LL will not disclose the outcome of an AR. They will only say that it has been looked in to.

In order for her to sue you she would have to prove you are making some sort of profit from it that she isn't because you are using it.
Now if she created a gesture that she sells and you are selling it then LL can check the creation date and if hers is earlier than yours they could remove it from your inventory. As soon as you create something in SL it is essentially copyrighted material. All Linden labs needs to do is check the creator and the date of the item. If you create an original object in SL it is indeed yours.

Well without seeing the chat logs it is really hard for me to say. But I am going to take a guess at how this played out.
You were bothering the staff or being rude and someone ejected you. You didn't understand why so you contacted the owner. Then mostly copped an attitude and the owner diceded it wasn't worth the time and just banned you. 9 times out of 10 this is how it plays out. Even if you didn't think you had an attitude, most of the time the person really doesn't understand what they did wrong. Most with poor attitudes don't really know they have them, even if you tell them. It is always someone elses fault. As soon as I get that impression I ban them too.
I had one guy argue with me about being banned, then he went on to tell me he was banned from two other race tracks in sl. Stating that they had power trips and banned him for no reason. And he was tired of all these crappy race tracks with hittler types running them. I told him don't you ever ask yourself the question "Why am I banned from three race tracks?". If you get banned from mulitple places, maybe, just maybe YOU are the **bleep** and not them.
On my sim arguing with the staff will get you ejected as well. And if I contact you to talk about it and you get all snarky I will mostly ban you. I don't have time to deal with that kind of stuff. That being said we really bend backwards to support our customers.
Another thing that will get you ejected from our sim is not replying. We often ask people if they need help or how they are doing. If you don't respond I will assume you are up to no good or a bot and eject you. If you come back and do the same thing I will ban you. Being nice isn't worth the risk of someone griefing our sim or copybotting our products or the products of our renters. It isn't that hard to reply with a "Hi, no thanks just looking" or something of that nature.

they stopped excepting pre paid cards? that is retarded! and how would they know? I thought pre paid cards and debit cards showed up just like a regular credit card.
There is no way in hell I would link a real credit to sl or any other site like it.

your object doesn't need to be physical for a door script either. That is only for physics engines like cars, boats, planes and the such. The order in which you link the prims may effect how it works though. And without actualy seeing the scripts you have I have know way of knowing how they work.

I would probably be more enticed by it if it where not for the price and the fact that it works WITH a mouse not instead of it. 90 bucks for something else I have to use is a bit extravagant for me. But then I am broke lol. If I had the money wouldn't be a big deal I guess. I suppose if I spent a lot time making movies it would be a nice addition, but I spend most of my time building and sculpting.
For me I would probably opt for a joystick that has the extra axis like one made for using with helicopters or something that has a twist axis in the grip. If it would work with sl my guess is it would do about the same thing. And I could use it with flight sim as well.

With phoenix you actually have two choices, you can use a temp upload, which others can see as long as you don't log out and the local bitmap browser which only you can see. The upside to this is when you are done texturing something all the textures are in the browser and you can upload them faster.

if it counts as three prims you could easily do the same thing with a sculpty, actually you could do it with two prims.
the seat one prim and the rails another.
I honestly haven't messed with meshes yet, but unless they implement them differently than I have read about I don't see them replacing sculpts. For one you have the price, and the other is the prim count and rendering cost.
If it is really going to cost hundreds to upload a mesh I don't see me jumping in line to use them. Take for instance your bench again. It counts as three prims and if it cost 100L or more to upload I will pass. I could do pretty much the same thing with two sculpts and it would cost 40L, two maps and two textures. I couldn't imagine making a whole car or engine that way if the cost is determined by the complexity of the mesh. And then there is the texturing issue as well. Texturing a vehicle or something complex would be much more difficult than if it were made up of a combination of sculpts and prims. From an aftermarket viewpoint anyway, like say a Moddable car you wanted to change the paint job on.
However like I said, I have not messed with them yet so I could be talking out my rear end.

I think before I dropped 90 bucks on that thing I would just get a top end trackball instead. I had to switch from my trackball to a mouse when I started using blender because it didn't have a scroll wheel. As soon as I can afford it I am getting a track ball with a scroll wheel.
Just not a big fan of the mouse I guess. Or maybe I am lazy and would rather move a finger around vrs my whole my hand lol. Not to the mention the running out room withe mouse and having to pick it up and move it because I hit the key board or bottom rail on my keyboard tray.

macs rock for video editing in my opinion, at least they used to anyway.
Personally I have a gts 250 by pny the xlr8 series with 1 gig of ddr3, a amd 945 quad core, 4 gigs of ram and an intel solid state drive. its more than enough for sl. On windows 7 64 bit.

I would assume this can only apply to LL's property like inworld or on a LL website. The same as would apply to IMs and chat. I don't see where there is really much they can do if you make a movie or take pictures and upload them to another website like yahoo or your own server. It would be no different than you making a video of any other online game like wow or any of the shooter games or racing games.
And if it was an issue I would think it would be up to the specific avatar to take action.
I think in real life you only need permission if you are going to publish the footage or pictures. But then again not sure how that applies to the internet. Take Tosh.0 for example. That would mean they have to get permission from every person in every video they put on the show. I don't see them doing that, if they are that would be a ton of work.

yep, if you want to show as you being the creator use the map to make a new object with a prim you rez. Then you will be the creator.
And I pretty much make all my own sculpts. Its either me or the owner of the place I work at. But a lot of my stuff shows as Black Box being the creator because I never bothered to change it in sculpt studio lol.

Well that would mean I would have to IM hundred of people to find out the few that gave low ratings, or even bothered to rate a product at all. And out of all my sales I have only had one faild delivery and that was in august of 09 I think.

Is there any way to see who rates your product if they don't leave a message? I have ratings from 5 stars to 3 stars to one star. I would really like to contact those that gave it a lower rating to see what they didn't like or possibly offer a refund. I really wish they would have left a reason. Its hard to improve your prduct with no feedback.

Yep LL banned age play for the same reasons it banned gambling. It is a US based company and child porn is illegal in the US. And age play could be viewed as child porn so to cover their own butts they banned it. But that really doesn't have anything to do with the orginal post since she is not playing a child, she is just a smallish avatar, which many Sl seem to like, especially females. Not everyone wants to be a 7 foot tall stripper amazon woman. And more power to them for it.
