  1. Looks to me like you are checking to make sure you didn't get mussed during transport.
  2. There are several regions on Aditi running the current server code so an easy side by side comparison can be made. Probably a good idea to check the Help > About Second Life for the server version before doing any testing.
  3. It may also be a language issue Faubio. Sometimes intention is very hard to disern via text, especially if you are working in a second language as Irene is. Not defending, just trying to maybe defuse a bit. :-) At any rate, hopefully we have sorted out the grids and the issue so people can go and try to break the code on Aditi. ________________________________________
  4. There is more than the main grid (Agni) you can log into. Agni The primary Second Life grid to which users connect; named after the Vedic god of Fire, mentioned in the four Vedas. Aditi The beta test grid available to Residents for testing the Second Life server software before it's deployed to the main grid (Agni); named after the Vedic mother goddess, cosmic creatrix. To log into the Aditi grid you need to press Cntl Alt G when your client is open but not logged in to get the window. Then you select Aditi and log in as normal. On the splash screen you will see a warning that inventory, money, etc is seperate and does not effect your main grid inventory or money. So while you are logged in to Ahern Faubio, you are logged into Ahern on the main grid, not on the beta grid. Hope this helps
  5. Oh, it's okay, I was married once, I know how to deal with rejection....
  6. Woo hoo, I'm famous now... or at least my backside view is. LOL
  7. OOps Faubio, sorry to add to the argument, but you are clearly not logged into Aditi / Ahern. When logged onto the Aditi grid (beta grid) the menu bar is red as a warning that nothing created or done on Aditi effects your normal SL account on Agni.
  8. You can not log onto the Aditi grid if you are noob. You have to have been active in SL prior to the time that the account data for Aditi was last updated, usually several months at the minimum. And there is an Ahern region on Aditi. As I said earlier, my problem of not being able to log in, and the error I was getting, was resolved by simply logging in to a specific region on Aditi, for which I used Ahern. Why would someone question my responce? It's real simple. Normally SL looks for the region you are attempting to log into and if it is not found for some reason, it sends you to a welcome area. In this case, that function for the Aditi grid is or was apparently not working and my home and last regions are not present on the limited set of regions included on Aditi grid.
  9. Thanks, I needed that...got it all hooked up now...
  10. I have been doing this SL thing for a long time. It is amazing how often I can forget some of the simple solutions. The correct solution for my issues was to login to a new region. In this case I used Ahern. That allowed me to log in correctly and I have had no further problems using the aditi grid. Thanks to all who gave their input here. ________________
  11. Obviously SL either reported an incorrect CPU or it was mistyped here. The BearLake chipset was released in 2007 and supports the Intel Dual Core/Core 2 processor family. The onboard Graphics processor chipset is either the GMA X3000, GMA X 3100 or GMA X3500 depending on the BearLake flavor. The GMA X3000 series is supposed to support DirecX 10 so with the proper drivers and memory allocated, it should theoretically run SL. That said, if the SL Client will not run, there is not much more you can do besides making sure you have the very latest drivers for that chipset. I would go to both the Compaq and Intel sites and see if you can find drivers newer than what you have for this machine. Intel was supposed to be pushing this graphics chipset as an entry level gaming set, so I would hope they are continuing to update their drivers. My basic research says that your motherboard should have an e-pci slot to add a video card. If that is the case, I would definately get a new NVidia card and disable the onboard graphics. While your computer may run SL as it is, it is never going to be near the quality of experience that a good video card can deliver.
  12. If you get a notice like that in a sandbox, there is most likely an object around sending it. When you logged back into the same spot, you got it again. If they are hitting you with those repeatadly, you will freeze. When you managed to teleport away, you still got one because it was in the pipe and dialogs are sent specifically to an account. Once you were away from the sandbox for a moment, they should have stopped. Is it possible for someone to do damage to your computer fron inside SL, nope. Is it possible for them to get enough information to directly attack your computer, yes, but not from within SL directly, and really not very likely. There are ways to get to get a persons IP Address, but if you are using a router, that is the IP they would get, not your pc's. Even if they get it, if you have windows firewall or similar, they are not an issue. You are much more vulnerable just surfing the web then playing in SL. So, bottom line, just a griefer being a griefer. They just can not stand to have anyone around them have fun. Find another place to hang. Maybe file an AR on it.
  13. It looks like a hud to me. Can you right click it and go into edit? If so, find out its name, find it in your inventory, detach it and delete it. It may also be something you are wearing that is attaching the HUD when you do something or type something specific, or it could be an item you are sitting that has permissions to attach a HUD.
  14. Let me see please if I understand your rant: At some time in the past, you had a bank account as payment information on file because your account was premium. About a year ago you downgraded this account to Free but did not remove the payment info you had used to pay for the permium account. Recently you decided to buy some lindens, but wanted to use a credit card to purchase them and you forgot there was payment info on the account. LL deducted the funds from the account information on file originally used back when the account was premium. If the above is correct I am sorry, but this is not an LL error, it is your error. Downgrading an account does not remove any payment info. You can have a free account with payment info on file. Having payment info on file creates an agreement with LL to use that account for any purchase you initiate. The money to pay for the purchase of Lindens you initiated was deducted from the account you had on file. They did exactly what they were supposed to do. If you reverse the transaction at your bank, you are committing fraud since you received the lindens. Since you were so kind to post here, my guess is that if a Linden reads this, and you reverse the charge, you will get banned, and rightly so. ............................................
  15. Thanks, getting a different error than the pwd one now, but helps to know you got in okay.
  16. Well, it appears maybe something is wrong with the Aditi Grid. Now I am getting the 'Unable to Connect to Simulator' error, though I can connect to Agni just fine. Oh well, so much for banging on things.
  17. I can not login to the Aditi (Beta) grid. I get the usual name / password / caps lock error. Tried my old PWD, tried one even older, same error. Has anyone been on Aditi today, or is it possible it's just down and giving the wrong responce?
  18. Capture his data using LSL when he touchs an object to initiate the session. Then pass that to the website and use PHP / MySql on the web side or maybe cookies to determine if they have been there before and determine the content to send them.
  19. Only 9 days?? I have been fighting an encroachment issue since November with the same results...nothing. https://blogs.secondlife.com/message/110011#110011
  20. An error occurred, please try again later... darn darn darn....
  21. Sorry but this is not correct, as blanket statements seldom are. Many laptops can in fact have their video cards upgraded. Asus, MicroStar, Dell and Sony all make laptops with a seperate video card connection and card.
  22. The top 3 biggest aids to making decent builds are: Learn to use the numbers (makes centering, clean joints, etc. much easier) Learn how the shapes work (there are several good aids out their, Crystal Gadgets makes a great one) Learn to use the numbers
