    A question about land

You can deed a sim to a group. You need to make the tier contribution yourself have the group members make enough tier contribution to pay the tier (295 USD) on the sim. Some of the benefits are keeping litter down by allowing only group members rez perms. You can allow group members land permissions, like terraform. Some of the drawbacks are any media device needs to be deeded to the group to work, you have to carefully manage your group member permissions. You can easily transfrer back by simply setting the land for sale to yourself for $L0 and buying it. ____________________________________
  2. Actually, unless I am missing something, you can now only move lindens from XStreet to your inworld account. Money earned now seems to transfer immediately over to your main account, and while you can move Lindens from your XStreet account to your main account, I do not see any button to transfer them back to XStreet from your main account now. It looks like if you empty your XStreet account, the balance will remain at 0. I assume that sometime in the near future, there will be no seperate XStreet lindens or dollars account shown at all. __________________
  3. Not really true. If you read the fine print on a cupon, they always specify the actual cash value, usually something like 1/10th or 1/100th of a US Cent. Otherwise they are deemed to have to have the same cash value as the face amount. ____________________________
  4. Inworld gambling was deemed unlawful specifically because lindens could be converted to USD. The US Government, in ruling against LL, declared Linden currency to have actual value. ______________
  5. Agreed, it is pretty obivious the new UI design was not done by someone who used SL a lot, especially to build. ____________________
  6. Tear the control off the taskbar and it will remain open __________________________
  7. You say you are 14. Then the proper answer here is - go to your parents, tell them what happened - take the consiquences for your actions - learn the lesson. Simple really - you don't like the answer so you keep asking - but that doesn't change it. ___________________________
  8. First, it is not very difficult for someone to get the IP of a user in SL. There are quite a few methods, depending on the viewer they use. But to what end. For starters, it appears to be against the ToS we all agreed to. Second, as has been discussed in the forums many time, it gets you nothing. At best a persons IP can be used to determine the ISP they are using and the general geographic area they are in. But even that is marginal. If you use my IP, you get a city more than 70 miles from my actual location. On top of that, most IP's change fairly regularly, so the IP they log may only be valid for a few minutes to a week or so. Websites regularly gather IP information for their logs, especially ones that have a signin requirment. IPs are just not a big deal, web myths and scare tactics asside. If you are worried that someone might find out your IP from inside SL, I think you are getting worried over nothing. If you stop doing all the things in SL that might, given enough effort, reveal your IP to someone, you are going to miss out on a lot of what SL has to offer. If you are really trying to figure out how to do it, I would google your question, not ask it here. _________________________________________
  9. Yes it will run SL just fine. In lower end laptops and desktops, the chipset for graphics is part of the motherboard and in most cases marginal for any 3d application. In higher end ones, even laptops, the graphics card is seperate and much more robust. The geForce 230 series chipsets will run SL fine, and you can probably run with the graphics settings at Ultimate. The rest of the computer is not nearly as important as the graphics. I have an old P3 machine with 1 gig ram and Windows XP that runs SL just fine because it has a NVidia 7600 card in it. It won't run SL and anything else at the same time because of the computers limitations, but because it has a decent graphics card, SL looks fine. _____________________________________
  10. What you arer asking for IS special treatment and is not going to happen. If you have been IP banned, as it appears you have been, then SL can not be accessed via the computer with that IP or computers attached to a router with that IP. If other memebers of your family use SL and can no longer access their accounts because of your ban, THEY can contact LL and request the IP ban be lifted. It won't help you however as your account will still have the ban. The only way you are going to get your account back is to follow the instructions others have posted in this thread, which will require you send LL acceptable information confirming your real age and ID. Bottom line, you messed up and lied, and in RL, there are consiquences for those actions. Your question has been answered, whinning or complaining or blaiming LL is not going to change the answers. Man-up and tell your parents what has happended and learn from this or don't and give up SL. The choice is yours. But accept the responsibility for this situation and quit trying to make it someone elses problem. ______________________________________
  11. I agree with the above, though I am not a lawyer. If I can see it inworld, like a sign, then I can AR it. To me this would be no different than playing a sexually explicit video on a TV in a PG area. While it is hosted off grid, it is viewed on grid and therefore something I can AR. ____________________
  12. Well, if your tickets were as poorly written in english as your post is, I can understand how misunderstandings could occur. If english is not your primary language, you might want to try to communicate with LL in your native language if that is available to you. If that is not an option, maybe getting a friend to help you write the tickets in the future would be advisable. If english is your primary language - well, its a darn shame you can not communicate better... _________________________
  13. The answer is simple. There is no way at present to remove the "Hello Avatar!" message from the default script. It is created from a database entry when you create a new script in an object. Tired of the message? Then don't hit the New Script button. Simply create a script in your invnetory to use as your own starting point. Maybe include a set of comment lines that show you created it, etc., then drag that into the prims contents and edit away. Other that than, just ignore it. __________________________
  14. Can you be more specific. When does the pointer go away, does it come back at any point, what client are you using, what operating system... The more details you provide, the better our chances are of helping you. ___________________________
  15. Actually its under Preferences > Graphics > Hardware Options Also, I am running NVidia driver file 185.85 (ver 8.15.11.8585) and it runs terrific, so uninstalling the latest version and backing up a few might be what is needed. I have heard some of the later version had issues. You can find the previous versions on the NVidia site. _______________________________
  16. The visible area outside a sim boundry is called Void, and is visible only, not actual simulated space. No object can actually move past the region boundry and into the void space. However, parts of an object (linkset) can. Since SL uses the center of the root prim of an object to determine its position, as long as that point is on the region, the object will display properly no matter where the rest of the object lays. So, if you have a box with a boat linked to it, and the box is 10 meters away from the boat, and is the root prim, the boat can be made to appear 10m outside the sim boundry. If you have a pose or animation script inside that box prim that is inside the region boundry, you can sit an avatar outside the region and on the boat as well. However, you can not really drive the boat. (Technically, if you had a vehicle script in that root prim as well, you could move the boat, but you would always have an offset of that 10 meter distance from where you boat appeared, to where the simulator had its location. The prim count, resource useage, etc, all still count for the region the root prim is located in. ___________________________________
  17. I have done a similar system for a space environment. I used a mega sphere of 128 meters and it works very well. If you own or are an estate manager, you can use custom textures for the ground on any private region. There is no provision for custom sky textures. Draw distance will be a problem no matter what you do, whether it was on a prim or not. The best solution would still seem to be a mega prim with an advisor chat box or notecard giver at your Landing point directing people to adjust their draw distance up to the required minimum. For that reason, if you want as many ppl as possible to view, I would keep the draw distance required below 128 meters. ______________________
  18. The most common cause of issues like yours is a connection issue. Unfortunately, the issue can be in any combination of many places. Have you tried other sims owned by LL? Once you log in to the Pooley region, can you transport to another sim and and everything still works okay? You can try the following two websites to check your connection. Go to http://www.speedtest.net to test your connection speed, then use http://www.pingtest.net to test the quality of your connection. (there is a link to it on the speedtest page) If you connection looks good, speed above 1 meg and a rating of B or better on pingtest, I can not think of anything more you can do besides wait for somone to get to your ticket. ___________________________________
  19. If you are basing your belief that your account was hacked because of what someone saw in a sandbox you may be jumping the gun. It is very easy to get objects to spoof the name of someone else, in chat or dialog boxes. There are a lot of griefer objects in sandboxes and my first guess is this was done by one of them. In most cases accounts are hacked to gain access to lindens the person owns, or do something with the account to cause that particular account holder problems. Most often when someone relates a strange converstation from IM the user knows they did not make, my experience says someone in the same household got a hold of the account. An object can not steal or hack your account. There are ways passwords and account credentials can be gotten, but not from an object in SL. Frankly, if nothing is missing, I would just change my password, DO NOT check the Remember Password box on the login screen, and let it go. Watch your account activity and see if you continue to have these issues. You can also look at your transaction history and see if anything has been bought or sold you did not do. ________________________________
  20. In Laguna Beach he'd get elected to public office... ___________________
  21. Back in '07 LL posted some statistics about gender in SL and it was thought then that about 30% of the female avatars were actually men. Now I do not pretend to understand all the motivations behind this, but one comes immediately to mind. In RL, in many countries, it is perfectly allright for a woman to dress as a man. Pants, T-Shirts, Business Suits, etc. Women can participate in activities that are considered male without any real negative impact as well. Of course, carried to extremes, they might be labled dykes or butch or something, but generally it's not considered to be socially unacceptable. So women may experience the world from a male point of view without much trouble. Now turn this around, have a guy put on a cute skirt and hit the streets. He won't get a block without being harrassed. Yet here in SL a male can put on a female personna and, within the limits of SL, experience the world from a female point of view. Maybe if more did it, there would be less "Hey, would you have S*x with me" comments. (Though frankly I guess that is a silly thought. LOL) ________________________________
  22. Some builders have prim footprints for their buildings. You can rez them and make sure they fit. You can also often make your own with a little work to get the basic layout. Good luck. _________________
  23. You can go right up to the line, as close as you can get it. There are several ways you can do this. One, rez the box on the ground with the parcel lines showing, and orient it so it fits. Then go into edit on the box and set the Z position for the altitude you want, hit enter. It will move straight up to that postition. If you already have it out, you can also lay prims out ( tall skinny cylinders work best) to mark the boundry, then move them up and make sure your box is not outside any. IM me inworld and I can drop you some survey poles I have for this purpose. They will also show the distance to the nearest pole.
  24. I do not know of any way to transfer lindens to another resident without using some sort of SL client. If it's several thousand lindens, it might be worth reloading a client, if not, I would just forget it. And don't forget, if you are leaving SL, go to your account page and cancel any payment info you have there before you cancel the account.
