  1. I suggest if you are under 30 days old you check the list here: http://fabfree.wordpress.com/fabfree-30-days-list/ I'm going to assume you're in the Bloodlines game, yes you lose blood if you do not feed on avatars who allow you to bite them. You can purchase blood casks from Bloodlines or find another Bloodlines player who is a "blood doll" to feed on. Your avatar does not actually lose blood, lose your soul, & will not really die, Bloodlines is just a role play game. It's also good to remember that bite requests are not welcome by many fellow SL users and some places will ban you for doing so.
  2. LL is bound by law (the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (ESIGN)) to accept DMCA's by email with verified/certified digital ID signatures that you can get through VeriSign or other certificate authorities.
  3. I need to send a DMCA but I do not own a fax machine or have a printer. Since DMCAs can only be sent via fax or regular mail, will faxes from online faxing services, such as eFax or MyFax, be accepted by Linden Lab?
  4. Like Ariel said, there are tons of places to get new eyes. It mainly depends on your personal taste & what look you're going for. *Shameless "check-out-my-blog" plug: http://eyes4all.wordpress.com/
  5. It is the avatar eyelashes, even set at 0 they are still visible if the creator hasn't made the eyelashes completely alpha (transparent/invisible). I would suggest getting a Hide Eyelash alpha tattoo layer to wear. That will remove any trace of the avatar eyelashes without the alpha glitching with prim lashes. I can send you one if you want to IM me.

For one, they do not have "land" or "tier", they sell (for lack of a better term) "chat" environments, rooms and such. Not really someplace you can explore like in SL. Since there is not any "land" needing rented or tier paid on, merchants have no "land" cost. No land, no inworld store, no prims needed, just items in the IMVU catalog. Which means cost of doing business in IMVU is much less than SL. Two, their platform is web-based. No viewer required to download which makes it easier to use. All in all, IMVU is mainly virtual chat. I can see it appealing more to potential users since it's easier, cheaper, & less complicated. What'scomplicated is their credit system. I read intructions on how to become a "developer" and that looks like it more hassle than it's worth. Honestly, I don't think comparing the two makes much sense as the only thing in common is VR & avatar customization. The platforms & purposes are totally different. Now comparing marketing, yeah SL sucks, no one will argue that. It's not like for like...but it is a 3D virtual environment and it has certain similiarities...in that you're able to create content (similar content actually) and sell it on website. There are Content Creators ( a very small pool) that create & sell in both IMVU and Second Life. Some of their top creators in IMVU earn a lot...but it's a complex system of how that income is derived. No, the costs are greater as IMVU take a larger slice of the sales price through their tiering system.....there are not land tiers or Room tiers....hences it's loaded into the Products equation. For the purpose of growth curves it's an adequate comparison They call them "Rooms", but it's not just a room...it will be whole plot of land (standalone) and will have a house etc on it. lol - if there was something dead similar to SL (not privateers Open Sim Grids)...run by a proper company, i would dread to see what Second Life concurency figure would be like! Half maybe? Thanks for the clarification, Rene. Sounds way too complicated for me, I have a short attention span. Can it really be more expensive though, what is the cost of developer membership vs premium member for SL? While they have higher "fees" taken from sales, equate that with having to pay SL land tiers every week plus upload fees? Is there any upload fees in IMVU?

  8. Toysoldier Thor wrote: Ohh and one final thought on all those POOR AVATARS in SL that freebie creators are helping. They are poor for all the reasons that were mentioned... how bad the real life economy is and they cant afford to buy that $1000L nice ballroom dress for the ball, or afford a nice skin to look good, or the better sculpted parts for their home.... If these Avatars / people behind the avatars are so poor not to pay the high gouged prices by all those eveil Merchants of SL, how are they paying for their ISP to be on SL? Or the computer that gets them on SL? Or heck even the power to run the computer that gets them on SL? IF life is so hard in their RL world - which I am sure it is - then forget about shedding a tear because you cannot get a decent avatar skin for free. You should be wondering why you are on SL in the first place. As someone here seems to call SL.... Why are they even playing a game as opposed to saving it to keep their RL going? So as much as some of you are throwing this "ohhh dont shed a tear for the SL businesses that are losing profits or even going under because of the impacts of the SL freebie economy"... you should also stop using the lame excuse that "I create freebies to help the poor troddened Avatars that cant afford to buy things in SL". Really? I sometimes wonder the same when a merchant cries about freebie creators taking away from their food bill for their kids. You either adapt to the current economy or you die, it's that simple. I do not care how, what or why another merchant do with their stores & products. I don't go around demanding they lower their prices for the "poor troddened avatars" of SL. However they conduct their business is excatly that, THEIR business, not mine. How I conduct my business, is MY business, not yours. I'll be damned if anyone dictates to me what I should be doing in SL.
  9. OK, after reading a few things about IMVU, comparing their growth to SL is not quite right. 10. Question for Rene..... Does IMVU sell land & have tier? I have no idea about IMVU. The only thing I remember about it were ads for it at a pixel doll site I used to make pixel dolls for & moderate.

It's their marketplace & they set the rules. I'm trying to be clearer about that lately. I do NOT point any fingers at any customer of SL, merchants, free users and even most employees at LL, or bear them ill will. Hard for me to get context and full meaning across in these forums. It is the leadership and management at LL that I lay every bit of blame on. Some investors of Yahoo! want to see a new board re-instated because they're botching things horribly. When I pay these kind of costs and I'm told it's my world, I kind of feel vested in it. And I want top level things to change, that includes getting rid of some board members that allow things to keep getting botched or interject the wrong things into the product. This stuff we're talking about now can be solved, but someone has to pay attention up there. I'm not bagging on you either but it's my world too & I have invested in it with my time & what I do. So I'm not a premium member, I can't afford dumping that much RL money into a platform that will eventually disappear (and that has nothing to do with freebies/cheapies). It wasn't that long ago merchants dumped on Eloh Elliot's free skin templates for supposedly killing the skin market....skin makers still going strong aren't they? The doom of SL will not come from freebies/cheapies, it will be from the lack of performance & fixing current issues of the like. I will say those that get my freebies & dollarbies are return customers that are very supportive and if it wasn't for the marketplace, I would't have an inworld shop at all or even making content for SL. I'd probably still be making freebies for Poser & Daz Studio 3D models (I kinda miss doing that & I didn't kill off the Daz & Renderosity merchants either).
  12. Dartagan Shepherd wrote: But where is the justification that it's a god given right to distribute it to as many people as possible? You mean like it's your god given right to sell to as many people as possible? For the record, that 5% commission I pay as well and I feel that $L loss more because of my low prices than someone who sells higher but I don't care, I'm not in it for the money. My stuff doesn't appeal to everyone & I like choices, I don't like restrictions on people's choices. It's stupid & **bleep**. Asking other merchants why the "right"? Well, you're talking to the wrong people. It's LL you should be hollering at. It's their marketplace & they set the rules. You have a right to sell because of LL, I have a right to give away because of LL. Now, if "merchant mafia" want to create their own marketplace and set their own rules banning all freebies and anything under $100L, go for it. Til then the marketplace is (and I hate to repeat) for EVERYONE and not owned by SL merchants (Thank god).
  13. Dartagan Shepherd wrote: So why the opinion that not only should it be free to create, free to give away in-world, free to market on your own blog, that distribution to the masses should also be free? What makes you think "freebie creators" don't pay? Everytime I upload a texture, promo, bvh file, sound file, etc. etc. I pay. Purchasing a building/creator tool, template, or texture, I pay. Renting the parcel my shop is on, I pay. It's money out my own pocket, not yours. Why do certain merchants think they are entitled to dictate how or what other merchants do?
  14. "So yes I ask to that people that “for fun” gives away all what they make, at leats give to their friends or relatives, or if you really need the feel to give away make it ingame on your own space, but do not put into marketplace, hurting other people who really needs to get an income to live!" How about you quit telling people how to run their business? The marketplace is for everybody, not just you, and if people want to give their stuff away or for cheap, so what? I'm one of the "for fun" merchants and I really get tired of hearing "You're killing my business, stealing food from my babies, I can't afford my meds this month because you sell too cheap!!!". You don't know how much my RL income or life situation is. I price the way I do because I know what it's like not be able to afford nice things and I target that consumer spectrum. Don't like it? Tough! How I price my stuff or give it away is none of your business.
  15. Thanks Nef, I did remove those. I use "so many" out of habit from other ventures not related to SL. *Shrugs* Oddly enough the title is Kinder and just happens to be a banned word. Go figure.
  16. Hihis all, I'm trying to post a child avie on the MP but having a bit of a problem with banned words. These are the keywords I'm trying to use: kid, kiddie, kiddy, child, girl, gradeschool, preschooler, kindergarten, minor, juvenile, young, prepubescent, preteen, brat Which of them are banned??
