  1. Removing my comment (which was asking if other people were back online now) having found the other thread on this topic and Maestro's update to the JIRA.
  2. This site runs through Cloudflare (https://www.dreamhost.com/partners/cloudflare/) as does www.turingestates.com which I also see in the site24x7 recent tests lists. Perhaps in its role as a proxy Cloudflare is preventing whatever is tripping up the LSL http requests from SL.
  3. Ron, thank you so much for posting your results. You're absolutely right that "https://www.sandry.co.uk/dreamhost_test.txt" works and I was completely flummoxed when I pasted your code into my script and it worked. Sadly I have made a bit of a fubar and I have to put my hands up and say that I chose a particularly bad example URL. I had been testing it in-world without the "www" in the address. Before I pasted it into the JIRA, I typed the URL into my browser where it had added "www". When I copied the URL back from the browser address, I didn't notice that the "www" was added. When I picked this URL as a test, I thought I was choosing something simple with which to illustrate the problem and also trying to avoid exposing any of our possibly more sensitive production scripts. But upon further investigation I see that this particular domain uses Cloudflare and requires the "www" in the URL. The browser puts it in automatically, but I guess that doesn't happen with the LSL request. I think it makes it a bad example for using with LSL. My apologies for wasting your time :c( That being said, it does serve to illustrate that the problem might lie with Dreamhost. I tried using a different domain of ours, which also uses Cloudflare, "www.turingestates.com". This too returns a status of 200 and displays the html in the output from the request body. But, when I try a domain hosted at DH which doesn't use Cloudflare, it fails. New example URLs: https://www.fireworkgirl.com" or "https://fireworkgirl.com" Both should work in the browser, but both fail from LSL. I better go and edit my jira post. Thanks again for testing and posting.
  4. From time to time we have had those 499 errors in the past too. As you say, they are usually resolved within a few hours. But not this time. It's about 36 hours as I write. I don't know about DH being cheap or used by hackers. I have used them for about 15 years. Until today I have had prescious little to complain about with them. But some of the tech support responses I received last night were utter twaddle and I'm more than a little disappointed. Gwyneth mentioned about trying to establish whether it's any simulator or just a few that are affected. Our system is for virtual dogs and cats, people have them all over the grid and I can see errors coming in from masses of different regions. While I cannot prove it's any/all regions, I'm pretty sure it's grid-wide. Thanks for opening the jira :c)
  5. Same problem here. Our hosting hosting is at Dreamhost and as @BlueXBeta and @Kavarek have reported, all our http requests fail with a 499 error when using https, or 502 if using http. The parts of our system that we access with a web browser, from outside of SL, work as expected. If I make an llHTTPRequest to URLs other than those we use at DH, they also work as expected. Finally I sneaked out onto OSGrid and ran a few test scripts there. Connecting to my scripts on DH works as expected. ETA: Did anyone open a JIRA for this? I couldn't see one.
  6. Hello Ras, are you talking about the Region Objects dialog under the Build -> Pathfinding Menu? If that's the case, I don't think there is anything to worry about. I think it is normal to be able to see all the objects on the region with this window. This is entirely separate to the Objects tab in the "About Land" window. The purpose of this window is to describe and set the properties of the objects in the region with regard to Pathfinding. It allows them to be set up as Static or Moveable Obstacles, Walkable and some other types, which allow creatures such as your dogs to navigate around them (obstacles) or walk over them (walkable). If I recall correctly, you cannot actually change the settings for objects that you do not own or have mod rights for. Where it says "moveable obstacle", it doesn't (necessarily) mean that the objects can be moved around by anyone. Although what Whirly says is absolutely right, if your neighbour was routinely setting the "Anyone Can Move" checkbox, in the Edit window, it would be asking for trouble. But, I had a quick look on his land and I don't think that's the case here. In this case "moveable obstacle" means that the objects can be moved around (by their owners) without affecting the pathfinding navmesh. I think a discussion of the navmesh might be a little beyond the scope of this reply. However, if you do want to learn more about it, we have classes about pathfinding in the dog park twice a week. You can pick up the class times from the information kiosk.
  7. Gorgeous photo! Congratulations Roe and Fina :c)
  8. Turing Estates is a haven for those seeking Quiet Country Living, somewhere away from the hustle and bustle, surrounded by quiet, gentle folk who are here for the same reason as you. The sims at Turing Estates are always PG Rated and always pet-friendly. You’ll find fans of all sorts of SL animals here, in particular the Virtual Kennel Club (VKC) Dogs. Turing Estates has seasons. You can expect to see the ground textures change with the seasons with lush green lands in the summer and it is almost unheard of not to have a White Christmas. The style of the islands is generally “Country Estate” and, as such, they are usually populated by animal lovers, particularly those with VKC dogs. The style of building is not set in stone, neither is there a dress code or other protocol. We have, however, a PG Rating in all of our regions and we ask that you be mindful of our decision. We kept back a 16 metre parcel for the Tier (rent) Terminal, under the sea in the centre of the sim.
