  1. They seem to be releasing the new housing at an agonizingly slow pace. I might keep my old Linden home if they'd delete everyother one, add some landscaping, and update them. I suppose that's too difficult.
  2. @ Lindal Kidd ~ Unfortunately, other people cannot see your favorites list.
  3. Back in the olden days of Xstreet, there was a wishlist. However the powers that be decided that 'As of July 22, 2011, Wishlist support by Linden Lab has been deprecated for Second Life. You may choose to create a free personal wish list by going directly to wishpot.com.' Back in the olden days of Second Life, I would have said "File a Jira request. If enough people request a feature, LL will listen." But that was in the olden days, when the gods heard our prayers.

  5. Just a general thought about boxing items ~ early in my SL merchant life, I realized that a box can be an important part of the product. I began boxing many of my items in complimentary boxes. For instance, my Tudor house comes boxed in a matching birdhouse the owner could place as a garden decoration. My fireplaces come boxed in stacks of firewood. Some of my items come boxed in decorative re-giftable boxes the owner can use to give gifts to others. Surely there was a more sensible solution to a non-existant issue like rezzing a box than restructuring Marketplace and forcing a kazillion merchants to revamp their some 2 million plus products. Maybe the ability to open a box directly from inventory? That solution would also solve the associated non-issues of people giving multiple items to each other in boxes or inworld vendors which deliver items in boxes.

  8. Amethyst Jetaime referred you to the correct MP catagory Textures > Ground textures. As a customer, that is where I would look for textures. If I wanted something made out of sand for the garden, I'd look in Home and Garden. It is really frustrating when a customer types in something like "Steampunk boot" in the search and gets everything from flying houses to buttplugs. I suppose the merchant justifies this by thinking something like "Well, a steampunk dude might use a buttplug" or "The house is sorta shaped like a boot and it does fly and don't they have flying houses in steampunkland?." A merchant who uses incorrect categories and keywords under the assumptions that no one will report it and that it will increase sales does us all a disservice. But then, I don't see much consideration for anyone but oneself out there these days.
  9. -Luna Bliss said "I suspect many browse for items on the MP and buy inworld" I now try to buy on MP whenever I can, even if the item is available inworld at less cost. The reason for this is that I actually do review and rate items I purchase. 1) If its a good item, I like to let people know. 2) If its a bad item, I like to let people know. 3) If the merchant doesn't respond inworld, as is increasingly the case, they usually respond when i complain online. 4) I am a merchant and I like getting feedback.
  10. Thanks Czari ... I had to look up "QFT" *grins* P.S. I think Gadget is a little judgemental. I could say something like "Well, when your parents decide to turn the basement into a craft room and you have to move out and start paying for your own expenses, maybe you'll have a more compassionate outlook." But I don't know Gadget's circumstances so, much as I'd like to rip him a new one, I'll practice compassion and loving kindness. P.P.S. And yes, the original topic had more to do with declining participation, slowing sales, and LL pricing practices. Several have posted some good ideas for those issue.
  11. I see a lot of the merchants saying "go mesh or die." I don't have mesh and my sales are about the same. I'm always suprised these days to see how well I am doing with my plain ole builds. I thought for sure I'd be passed over by "flashy" products. I think that people will buy your products if they fill a need, catch the eye, and are quality, low-prim, competitively priced items.
  12. Isn't that brand infringement?
  13. Can some please explain exactly what is meant on the http://status.secondlifegrid.net/ by Second Life Server Deploy or point me to the Wiki answer? Simply stating "Its when SL deploys the servers" is not an exact explaination. I need to be able to explain what "Server" means in an SL context, what is meant by "deploy" and how it affects residents. I am willing to go to the Wiki and read about it, I just can't find it. Thank you in advance for your kind responses.
  14. My thoughts exactly! When I complained that a white outfit looked dirty and sooty, the merchant said "Well, here are the windlight settings I used." and "Well, its one of my best sellers." As if that should be reason enough to keep my complaints to myself. Its so "Emperor's New Clothes"! Even if I set my windlight settings to suit a particular outfit, to everyone without that setting I still looked like I'd just walked through a pile of ashes. And no ~ no apology, no money back. All I could do was use the MP review to warn others. Though I initially liked the "look" of this merchant's items, I wll not purchase from her again. I don't like to support arrogance with my hard-earned money. I also will go further than just not recommending this merchant. I will share my experience when people ask "Where can I get such-and-so?" As consumers, it really is "Buyer Beware." As a merchant, I try to look at all my products under the best possible graphics settings AND at the lowest. Because not every one has great systems or knows how to change settings. And I want my customers to get the best I can deliver. Its a matter of pride over profit.
  15. These are standing animations as opposed to static poses. They are usually loaded into an AO, that is an Animation Overrider. You can find good AO's free in Marketplace, such as the Bright AO by Shan Bright. The best animations are usually not free, although some animation designers, like Sala Snook, offer good free and low cost animations. This is an unpaid notice, just my personal opinion.
  16. In my V3.1 the tab PICKS is the third. There is an EDIT button for each individual pick but it doesn't work.
  17. Only premium members have access to the premium beta of Project LR. Later, it will be available to the general public. Right now the only portal I found was in one of the premium sandboxes.
  18. Well, I ran around and fired the red flare cannon and then there were no more quests. After that its sorta like a money tree. Find crystals and cash them in for Linden. Its kinda cute and reminded me in a very elementary way of the Pot Healers. Wish it was more sophisticated.
  19. Toy, Thank you for using me to illustrate your point. Now can you tell me where it is?
  20. Ditto to "Bring them in if you must, just keep them out of my conciousness." I enjoy Adult interaction in Second Life GASP! Not the "wanna bump pixels" version of Adult, but conversation and shared experiences with other adults who have a little life experience under their belts. I have kids (2 boys and 2 girls) who are finally grown. Been through the terrible teens. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. Now, I enjoy the company of people my own age, whether physically or emotionally. While there may be the occassional emotionally mature 17-year old out there, they are a rarity. Second Life should be for an adult community (again, not in the bumpity pixels way). But its not, so we'll have to live with it. That is until there have been enough lawsuits brought by parents and law enforcement to give Linden Lab the "out" they've been looking for and Second Life is shut down.
