you already get an acknowledgment e-mail when you file an AR. the only reason you would need to know what specific actions they took against another user would be bragging rights....

but I'm agreeing with you, I seriously do wish they'd ban people for abusing the AR system, and if it gives them extra time to let the filers of valid AR's gloat, hey, why not.

but if you think I've any ability to "suppress" peoples complaints about that or any other portion of LL's workings.... all I can say is thanks for the promotion... do I get a pay raise with that?

you can have double what you are paid now for being on the side of a shoddy awfullly managed company. how about that?

sure, let have LL email you about every AR... and while we're at it, since they're doing all the extra work just to give you gloating rights, if the AR was spurious, they should ban the person filing it for at least a day too...

you know, to cut back on the pointless AR's they have to read through, so they can make time for emailing notices about it

pay me what LL gets from tiers each year and LL can email me as much as they like.

    thats a promise.

im sure all businesses get complaints or problems, they dont ban their customers though lol.

i don't gloat btw, i think the backend and support of SL is dreadful and its only right and proper that its problems are not suppressed by people like you.

  3. as Canoro said, do not click on Media on a prim items, these are objects you may find inworld that allow you to view and interact with websites.

the danger is that you could be fooled into thinking the website is a proper one when it isnt.

as an experiment i set up a cloned version ot the marketplace, i renamed it and you would not have been able to tell the difference (altough mine was non functional) it would be simple to do this and have the name and password fields going to a database through PHP for example. meaning that if you put your name and passord in i or anyone could store it and use it...

technically i believe it would be possible to inject a virus into your PC this way also, as Media on a Prim bypasses your virus checking.

    its a huge security hole.

    Congratulation!!!!

I hope you have a better name for your wife than Taurog.

    'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;

Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.

What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,

Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part

Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!

What's in a name? that which we call a rose

          By any other name would smell as sweet;

So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,

Retain that dear perfection which he owes

Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,

And for that name which is no part of thee

          Take all myself.

Oh don't tell me your nasal didn't flare up a bit when your partner finally could change her name to Mrs.Taurog?

I know I would. Especially now that residents couldn't have the choice of a last name, my future partner can always change his to Mr.Danube unless I said no.

my partner is happy with her SL name and doesnt need to change it to my surname.

old school thinking i guess but we are allowed to think old school and neither of us take SL that seriously.

we dont use namechanges in SL and it hasnt crossed our minds to do so.

we will do that in RL :smileywink:

i have no clue why LL decided to implement "resident" surnames and i'm pretty sure LL haven't either. but its not my problem and i dont have to deal with it.

    thank you for listening.

So what makes YOUR SL name a good option, but a new users SL name something to be avoided?

Remember, new sign-ups don't have the same naming options you did. Remember, usernames are no longer avatar names, they're the account name you sign in with. New sign-ups don't have nearly the freedom in choosing their usernames that we did with our SL names, meaning a lot of people are going to be stuck with usernames they really don't want as an avatar name, hence they set their avatar name using the feature designed percisely for that purpose.

its not that i avoid the new residents, in fact i dont even know if fairywings has a resident last name.

if i knew someone as penny patton then it would confuse the heck out of me if suddenly they were known as someone else.

its not just for new "residents" its for everyone dave.

do you mind if i call you herbert or is that a bit confusing sandra?

lol i dont see any change for the better when twinkletoes (who?) is now known as fairywings.

i must have known them once i but its beyond me now who they are or were.

some of us crotchety old SL users prefer people not changing their names every week, wierd i know....

I've got a fairly large contact list and yet only one person on it who changes their name with any frequency. People frequently changing names is a non-issue, anyone not blinded by their own stubborn refusal to accept change would see that.

Even so, I agree LL shouldn't have made it so easy to frequently change names. If someone abuses that ability then the problem is
    their's
if their friends don't recognize them, or start to get annoyed by it.

Or are you suggesting I'd be better off referring to
    you
    as 1a084e61-abc2-40e8-8fae-41de0272be8c because
    twinkeltoes
changed her name to fairywings one week then queenbee the next and it's made me decide to avoid the whole "names" thing altogether?

you can of course refer to me as Dogboat Taurog, thats my SL name, easier no?

i don;t remember suggesting anything to you.

i have some ideas though. :smileywink:

Why would YOU need to feel better when someone wants to change their names to TwinkleFairies to make THEM feel better? :matte-motes-stress:

because i havent a clue who they are.

it was one of the worst decisions LL ever made. lol

that and resident names. and the homestead fiasco and the gambling ban and V2 and V3 and media on a prim, and the teen integration and mesh and need i carry on?

Does anyone know why LL does not allow a group to change its name? Just like a company in RL might undergo a reorganization, so might a group in SL which makes the former name not as applicable to what the group is now about. The present solution is to create a new group with a new name, but then you have to go to the trouble of inviting all members of your old group to join the new one and then eject everyone out of the old one in order to close it. To me, it would be much simpler to allow a group owner to change the name of a group.

Does anyone know if that is even possible in SL? Or is it a matter of that's the way LL prefers to operate groups? I would even be willing to pay the $L100 it costs to form a new group to be able to change the name of an old one.

as sl goes on more and more groups will be created and they will have to reuse the dead ones, or we will get the XXXSL furnitureXXX etc just like the problems new residents are facing today with 111xxx123dave43abc resident.

im sure LL could do it, its a DB for goodness sake not a religion.

i honestly feel LL just doesnt care and can't be bothered to do anything but the bare minimum to maintain income.

I' ve received valuable unpaid assistance from SL Residents on this forum.

The same cannot be said of LL's customer service.  I am paying $600.00 U.S. per year for tier, and I want better service than this:

Please contact LL's customer service.  This is a SL Residents' forum.

However - if you are paying for TIER then you are, presumably, getting the LAND you pay for.  You are not paying for customer service (necessarily)

If you are premium - and therefore paying for customer service - then you can always cancel it.  No customer support, but no fee either.

he's probably fed up with having no feedback from LL, quite frankly i would be also for 600 $ a year.

my ISP costs less half of that and any problems they fix the same or next day.

Seems to me you got what you payed for. Be happy they rectified the situation, and read the faq on how they deal with the issues

You could be more productive by just going on about your happy Second life rather than complain that LL did help you

if no-one complained nobody would know.

better to know than live in ignorance.

i never said anything otherwise..everyone is free to set their own limits to however high or low they want them..

setting them low  is certainly not something worth bragging about..
