No, you were told that they sent a photo of their id and it worked for the purpose of proving their age. Edited to add: You make it sound as though your parents also have SL accounts. If this is true, they're going to find out they can't access SL soon enough. It'd be best if they find out why from you rather than the hassle of putting in a ticket and finding out from LL.

SL only uses a browser for certain things, not to actually run the viewer. I doubt uninstalling/reinstalling a browser would make any difference.

Most people do get annoyed by it. I have sounds turned off most of the time so I don't hear even more annoying gestures so none of it bothers me
