  1. Make sure your drivers are current for your graphics card... I got effects like this and worse when my graphics card started to go so I eventually had to replace it and it works fine now. Try the other steps first before taking "drastic measures"
  2. One of the best, most concise explanations of land purchasing I've ever seen!
  3. Hi Drake, You can abandon your land by clicking on the about land tab and then find the "abandon land" check box. Tier on a mainland 512 will be free however you will still have only 117 prims and this time it won't include a house. You can "tier up" and get a larger parcel which will give you more prims. Keep in mind that the tier levels shown here do not include the 512 that is free so in reality the next tier level up would give you a 1024 with twice the prims of a 512 for just $5.00 per month. Here is a link to the tier level information. http://secondlife.com/land/pricing.php Alternatively you can rent land on private estates but be very careful to read the land covenants and get recommendations for respected, reliable landlords.
  4. You will only be able to transfer those items that are transferable (i feel silly every time i type that because its so redundant). When it comes to items like furniture, plants or other items that you rez in world (versus items you might wear) you can rez those on the land where the new av will live and leave them there, make sure you give permissions to both avatars to modify/edit the other one's objects.
  5. As far as I know there is no HUD that will tell you where an avatar is if they are not in the same region (sim) as you are. However, there are scripted objects that can do that and more if the avatar is wearing them. For instance lets say your friend was given a piece of jewelry (or even a pair of shoes) by the stalker (or an alt of the stalker). If she is wearing the item and the item is scripted the stalker could not only know where she is but sho she is with and can also listen in on her chat and the chat of others around her. It happened to a friend of mine.
  6. Is your friend's landlord the stalker? If so then he may be monitoring what avs are on the land (there are also script huds that can monitor online status of any avatar) and its easy to infer that when av#1 logs off and av#2 logs in shortly after that they are probably related as the other reply said there are subtle clues in the way an av types, interacts, what they wear etc that would also give it away. Your friend should move away from their parcel, the alt should have its own little rental away from the main's home. Also the alt should have a different circle of friends, places to shop and hang out - otherwise this person will assume that any new av in your circle of friends is actually your alt. Your friend should also mute this stalker, ban them from their (new) home and ignore any attempts the stalker makes to contact her or her alts.
  7. Yes, I would delete the cookies and see if you can get to the welcome screen at www.secondlife.com and then start a new log in registration i meant
  8. You are the best Unklebob! and btw - where are all those profits from the sale of those t-shirts going anyway hmmmm?
  9. Chocolate and whipped cream wrestling is my forte...
  10. It sounds like you are trying to sign up on the teen grid for some reason (you are too old now for the teen grid). Edit: Here's a link to the join up page (for the US - i think, hope it works) if not try logging out of your secondlife dashboard and then going back to www.secondlife.com where you should get the "join now" page. https://join.secondlife.com/?lang=en-US
  11. "...and yet some way, some how, the "which is better, Mainland vs Estate land" continues..... ?!"
  12. awwww Lizard - Everyone knows mainland is better than renting a private estate where your Very Expensive No Copy object can just dissappear because your landlord didn't pay his tier!
  13. To err on the side of caution I would be very tempted to pick up any "non-copy" items on the land before the move. Anything with copy perms can always be replaced from inventory.
  14. You can see their last log in date if you belong to the same group - it will show there under the members tab. Other than that I don't know of a way to track someone else's time spent in SL.
  15. Have you tried this? USING THE PREVIEW GRID TO RECOVER LOST INVENTORY If you realize that you have missing inventory, you can try this tip. Follow the steps below as soon as possible: Login to the Preview Grid and find a quiet place where no one will annoy you while you are trying to solve a problem. Steps to login to the Preview Grid: Open Second Life client, but do not log in. At the login window, press Control-Shift-G to bring up the "grid selector" box. Should show 'agni'. Select "Aditi" from the drop-down box. The menu-bar should turn Red, and the background image will change. DO NOT REZ ANYTHING WHILE ON THE PREVIEW GRID. GO INTO BUSY MODE IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT ACCEPT ITEMS, DO NOT DELETE ITEMS, DO NOT PASS OR RENAME ITEMS. Open your inventory, type in a search term and allow your inventory to populate. Got your goods back? Awesome! Quit the viewer, login to the Main Grid (change the grid name in the login window back to Agni) and do the same thing. Once you have retrieved your items on the Main Grid and your inventory has fully populated, logout and cache your inventory. Log back into the Main Grid, recheck inventory. You should find everything has returned to normal. Enjoy your Second Life! This technique has been proven to work more than half the time so it may save your hide. Please bear in mind that you should only expect positive results if you attempt this workaround as soon as possible upon discovery of your missing items. This is NOT a guarantee that you will be able to recover your items but having at least a chance at doing so is much better than no chance at all. I hope this helps some of the Residents that fall victim to this issue.
  16. I think there are alot of options from what I have seen on some fashion blogs that are directed towards men. I would recommend "shopping" via these blogs then gather the slurls and go look in world - always try the demos first until you have the combination of shape/skin that pleases you. Here are some suggestions: http://www.second-man.com/ http://www.slmen.com/ http://ffform.blogspot.com/
  17. Hi Larryk, I just thought I would let you (and perhaps others) that there is something very much like this available in SL - and its free. Take a look.. https://www.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=1136521
  18. laughs... oki yes, you have to really like her ass to be able to bring it off with sincerity or - really care about her enuf not to hurt her feelings if she is feeling good about herself... or suggest another skirt/outfit that truly is flattering without telling her why... i know we are complicated... but NOT that complicated, smiles
  19. Ooooof - Eternus you should know the correct answer/comeback is always ALWAYS "no babe, you look hot" Duh!
  20. For best results play with all those settings (saddlebags, hip width and butt size) around the hips/butt until you are happy with the look (when i finally learned this trick it saved half my inventory of system skirts i thought were unwearable - and there was one gown I deleted that I will never be able to get back ). Spread the word - there are far too many women that haven't heard about the "system skirt shape" trick!

    viever?

Hi Ellaa, Try using the cool viewer, i think the version is called the "legacy" I use that on my old laptop and it works oki - i can't stay on sl for very long even with that viewer. If you are able to log on turn all your graphics settings to the lowest possible settings. You might also want to look into a text based viewer if you just want to be able to talk to friends. Unfortunately with each new viewer LL seems to be making things more and more difficult for those of us with older, non-gaming machines. So the best advice is to save your pennies for a new computer if you really want to enjoy all that SL has to offer. Here's a link to LL's list of 3rd party viewers - you will see the link to the Cool Viewer there. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Alternate_viewers#Third-party_Viewers good luck
  22. ROFL - please try not to make anyone spill their whine wine!! Message was edited by: Jessika Rang for umm spelling
  23. I usually figure $260L per $1 - but it varies quite a bit - use the links provided by Cinnamon to check the raite at any given time. When selling Lindens you can also specify the rate you would like to get. If you make the rate too high they will sit unsold for quite awhile.
