  1. I think declined items wind up in your invys trash folder. =)
  2. This one will point out most of the blender tricks needed. http://blog.machinimatrix.org/3d-creation/video-tutorials/sculpties-advanced-tutorials/2-in-1/
  3. "The only limit is that you need at least one face for every texture area you want to use. If you have five textures, you have to have at least five faces." Oo! I learned someting! Thanks! This must stop the textures jumping around as the LOD changes.
  4. Try making a simple cube that covers your kettle(in blender). Save it as a new.dae and use it as the physi shape when uploading. It also good pratice to make your own LOD files. The uploader gets kinda random creating the lod levels itself. For giggles, use a one or two poly shape for the lowest LOD level, and see how that affects prim counts.
  5. Did you upload with a simple physics mesh? I know the complexity of the physics shape and the LOD levels contribute a lot to the prim count. Fiddle with the uploader, looking at the physics and LOD parts. I am fairly sure you can lower the prim count a lot. ((in my diner in Bay City, there are 2 sculpted one prim objects very similar to your kettle. A bowl of soup(with spoon) and a larger serving bowl on the stove. This may be the type of objects where sculpts still win the prim count battle))
  6. The objects detail slider is set half way by default(for me, at least). I'm not sure that the debug tricks work if that slider isn't maxed as well. Pref>graphics>advanced. =)
  7. Cool rant! My best guess: Overly hot puter. Time to pry it open and chase the dust bunnehz out. =)
  8. Ok, I see where you are coming from. I had not thought about people uploading non-unique,or premade meshes. Perhaps my mesh ID idea works if the non-unique meshes are made an exception. Along with basic shapes like; cubes, planes, etc. Surely there is enough data in each *custom made* mesh to deem it unique. Making it possible to red flag any other uploads containing some or all of that data. Perhaps a button in the uploader, "create unique ID" for uploads we want that level of protection on.
  9. All meshes should be unique. Unique field maps, UV maps, material settings, etc, etc... Would it be possible to create an ID number/hash off of this unique data, along with a time stamp and AV uuid at the time of upload? Then check new uploads against these ID numbers. I can see issues where legal off line sharing of assets could trigger such a system. In those cases, the original uploader could check the new "allow people to reupload" button. this would remove that meshes ID number from the check list. Due to each meshes uniqueness, this should be way easier than trying to protect prim content. IMO.
  10. Someone here will remember a thread about *other things* lost under houses. Haha! I should dig through the archive and paste it here. But, can't bring myself to use such exotic search words. Lol! Maybe someone else will. Or at least the memory of it made someone else chuckle too. Sorry Valerie, I hope this doesnt derail your thread!
  11. Well, judging by Oz's comments noted here: http://dwellonit.taterunino.net/2011/05/18/if-third-party-viewers-dont-keep-up-things-will-break-says-oz-linden/ the only way forward will be on very current viewers. That shouldn't scare me, but it does. I work in here, for a large SP, over 40 hours a week. I have given various versions of 2.0 more than a fair shake. I simply like 1.0 better and still use 1.5(snowglobe)when efficiency is needed or for meetings. Looks like I'm going to be buying some liscences and start building/maintaining my own 1.x viewer. =) The Ali's Uber Awesome Viewer is born! If any linden viewer types happen to read this... My largest stumble with 2.0 is the change away from the pie menu. Having to hunt and read each option every time, rather than using 6 odd years of muscle memory with the pie, completely kills my productivity. Usually the 3rd or 4th "OMG, where is it!!!" and I relog with 1.5. Adding an option to use pie in the new viewer would go a long way for me, and I expect many others as well.
  12. Personally I don't see why LL doesn't just patch 1.23/1.5 and make it safe. As a large amount of people still use it. I don't mean adding all the 2.0 features to 1.23. Just a patch for This sound crash exploit. What will it take, an hour, maybe two to compile with safe newness? After the emerald debacle, I have serious trust issues with TPVs. A few(safe) options from LL would go a long way. For me at least.
  13. Thanks Ciaran and Void! I am glad these are known issues and hopefully fixes are in the works =) The duplicate vehicle issue was very odd. At one point I had 100+ objects held in edit and actually saw the "you are trying to edit more than 4000 prims" warning. Yet, those 4000+ prims were on a 1024 parcel.. Which can't be possible. I have to assume that it only happened on my screen. I am now thinking, it was just an exciting version of Ghost Prims on Steroids. Thanks again!
  14. I have been seeing, what look like, random disconnects from the asset system. Issues ranging from, objects rezzed inworld that no one can delete, return, etc. (These lost objects even survive sim restarts and bypass parcel return.) ... to very odd outfit behavior. This morning while putting an outfit together i started getting "failed to rez" warnings while trying to wear attachments. Eventually i relogged and found that i had lost an hours worth of edits on the outfit. I was wearing all the attachments i put on, but non of the resizing or location changes stuck. The other day, we went out for a drive in Bay City. When we were done, not One of us could pick up our vehicles. Some said they were returned via parcel return, none really were returned though.. I went back last night and found not only my vehicle was still there, but that there were 100+ copies of it, all in the exact same location. I tried everything to pick them up, eventually i slid them into the neighboring sim.. and crashed the sim Badly! (Weston) Not sure if these observations help at all. I would suggest, though, that if anyone does see this "failure to rez" warning while getting dressed, to relog, so as to not waste too much time.
  15. Let's all chip in and start our own country. =P http://www.privateislandsonline.com/
  16. The tradition, if I remember correctly... The first person to ask where SLCC is going to be, hosts it at their house! =D We are ALL coming over!~
  17. I sooo wish LL would fix this.. There is no easy work around. You can try installing each viewer in a differently named folder, and set Each viewers cache pointer to a uniquely named folder as well. This fixes the odd corruption when using different viewers with the same cache but open a whole new set of issues. Chatlogs spread around multiple cache folders for instance.. ugg.. It may however workaround LL's uninstaller regime. =) For now, till LL fixes this(feature request below...), I save a copy of my equivalent of "\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\" into a folder on my desktop. I can drop this folder into its correct location when ever I want to "reset" a viewer. This was a lot easier with 1.x as only a few files and the chatlogs needed to be backed up, but I have not spent the time to see what files 2.0 needs. So I just save the whole darn folder! LOL This does nothing for chatlogs =/ Unfortunately. So, LL, here is what I would like =D A button that appears on Logout(or other places) -oh wait, two buttons!- Back up settings and chatlogs to Desktop and Recover settings and chatlogs from desktop One creates the folder, the other pulls from it. Yay! While waiting for that... =P I suppose I could set up a thingy on my computer that backs up chat logs and settings files on a regular basis. =) ETA: or what Chosen said... =D
  18. LL once sold "First Bling" off the website. I googled a bit, but could not find you any useful links. I did find this http://www.bathsheba.com/crystal/e8/ which is very neat. There also was once a service that created printed paper models that folded into buildings from SL builds too. I can't find links to that either=\. Maybe someone else remembers.
  19. Post deleted. (and last forum post, as 15+ people chased me inworld to solve their tech issues...)
  20. A ticket, and perhaps a call to concierge to ensure it comes down before its teir date. =)
  21. My best guess, our initial ranking is tied to correct SLA answers.
  22. Yeah, where did those buttons go. I Need the mod rights button nearly every day...
  23. Is the another workaround for the SSL browser fail I keep getting when trying to opening a profile? I would rather not install IE. Also and this is a little offtopic, the time between clicking the SL icon and the viewer actually opening, is steadily getting longer and longer and longer. After 6 years, I know to wait. But the delay must look very unprofessional to a new user. Any chances of streamlining the viewers startup?
  24. No transfer objects don't change owners with a land sale. If you want to leave them for the new owner, join thier land group and set all you prims to that group. If new owner needs to move them, set "share with group". Be a little careful with group share. Especially if it is a large land group, as I believe anyone in the group can move or return the objects. I have sold a few "value added" parcels over the years. This is the best solution I have found for no transfer things, like trees and plants I didnt make myself. Having all the prims in the land group also let's the new owner use parcel return and other land manage stuffs. ( sorry for wall if text, posted from my phone with no formatting)
