  1. Hi MB, the crash fix actually was related to avatars connecting to a sim, so it's interesting that you noticed slowdowns there. Do you have any times and locations of example incidents? Also, what are the lockups like - does the sim appear to freeze for several seconds at a time to the local avatars?

  5. Hi Jamal, how does the official 3.6.13 release viewer perform? The reason I asked about the viewer version is because there are currently some RC viewers in circulation with changes that would heavily affect object and asset loading performance: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers The 'HTTP Viewer' would affects performance with texture and mesh loading. The 'Interesting Viewer' affects performance with object loading and movement. Either set of changes could have a knock-on effect to other aspects of network performance in SL. Both project viewers are designed to improve performance, but something could have gone wrong.
  6. Second Life Server (main channel) The main channel will be updated to get the server maintenance project that was the RC channels last week.   This project contains a single crash fix. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/14#14.01.15.285344 Scheduled Tuesday 2014-01-28 05:00-11:00 PST   Second Life RC BlueSteel, RC LeTigre, and RC Magnum: All three RC channels are on a new server maintenance project.  This project includes a crash fix and a fix for a longstanding bug in llModifyLand(). https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_BlueSteel/14#14.01.22.285517 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_LeTigre/14#14.01.22.285517 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/14#14.01.22.285517 Scheduled Wednesday 2014-01-29 07:00-10:30 PST   We will be monitoring this thread as the code gets released, so feel free to note any observations you have about the server updates.  If you have a specific bug you'd like to report, please file a Jira.
  7. Hi Sharie, none of the changes in yesterday's main channel update were related to asset downloading. Which viewer version are you using?
  8. This week's roll announcement is earlier than usual, since Monday is a US holiday.   Second Life Server (main channel) The main channel will be updated to get the server maintenance project that was the RC channels for the past two.   This project includes some crash fixes and new features related to LSL scripting and object creation.  https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/13#13.12.20.285035 Scheduled Tuesday 2014-01-21 05:00-11:00 PST   Second Life RC BlueSteel, RC LeTigre, and RC Magnum: All three RC channels are on a new server maintenance project.  This project contains a single crash fix. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_BlueSteel/14#14.01.15.285344 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_LeTigre/14#14.01.15.285344 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/14#14.01.15.285344 Scheduled Wednesday 2014-01-22 07:00-10:30 PST   We will be monitoring this thread as the code gets released, so feel free to note any observations you have about the server updates.  If you have a specific bug you'd like to report, please file a Jira.
  9. Hi Ayesha, there wasn't a relationship between the inventory maintenance and the lack of a roll this week. The main motivation for the delay was to give scripters some more time to play with llScaleByFactor() before it goes grid-wide.
  10. That's correct; there are no rolls this week: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/No-server-deploys-for-the-week-of-2014-01-13/td-p/2435777
  11. No server deploys are scheduled for this week.  We are giving the current version on the RCs another week before distributing it to the main channel.
  12. Hi MBeatrix, this could be caused by scripts acting up in his parcel. While scripted calls generally blocked on objects set to a 'static' pathfinding type, LSL scripts may rez objects that contribute to the navmesh, or derez themselves while contributing to the navmesh. Since the navmesh has changed when this happens, it will be marked as 'needs to be rebaked'. I would recommend asking your neighbor to review the 'pathfinding linksets' list in his parcel to see if any of his objects are unexpectedly set to a non-movable type. However, this could be difficult if the culprit object disappears before he has a chance to view the list.
  13. Hope, the symptoms you describe sound like a 'capabilities' issue for that region. When this happens, you would typically also see failures to transact L$ or view 'about land' for parcels in the region, among various other symptoms. I would recommend filing a support ticket when this happens, for a speedy response.
  14. It appears that Dacia has stabilized. It's currently at 426MB of physics memory (this is a known issue if the region rebakes many times) but has not changed over the past few hours. There were many navmesh rebakes about 20 hours ago, but only 1 rebake has happened in the past hour (and the navmesh is currently 'up-to-date'). I'm not sure what triggered the rapid rebakes before, but rebaking typically only occurs when a viewer requests it or if the navmesh has been stale (changes have been made which are not yet reflected in the navmesh) for 6 hours.
  15. Hi Ayesha, I checked out the performance between sim8883 and sim9724, and behavior is the same between the two hosts. I have the same network ping time to the two hosts, and similar viewer 'ping' (not a true 'ping time' - this stat also includes frame rendering time) when I visit a region on each host. Both hosts are in the same colo, so you should have the same network route. I suspect that the performance difference you see is not between the hosts, but something that changed over time.
  16. Hi Ayesha, the code change introduced with the main channel update shouldn't relate to interest list (or any asset loading) behavior. Could it be that you were switched on to or off of the 'Project Interesting' viewer? https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers#Second_Life_Release_Channel
  17. Hi Venus, I asked the profiles team, and the fix for this issue is still in progress.
  18. Second Life Server (main channel) The main channel will be updated to get the server maintenance project that was on the RC channels for the past few weeks.  This project contains a single bug fix, related to vehicles becoming stuck in the 'sat upon' state (which prevents parcel autoreturn). https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Server/13#13.12.06.284624 Scheduled Tuesday 2014-01-07 05:00-11:00 PST   Second Life RC BlueSteel, RC LeTigre, and RC Magnum: All three RC channels are on a new server maintenance project.  This project includes some crash fixes and new features related to LSL scripting and object creation.  https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_Magnum/13#13.12.20.285035 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_BlueSteel/13#13.12.20.285035 https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_RC_LeTigre/13#13.12.20.285035 Scheduled Wednesday 2014-01-08 07:00-10:30 PST   We will be monitoring this thread as the code gets released, so feel free to note any observations you have about the server updates.  If you have a specific bug you'd like to report, please file a Jira.
  19. Due to the holidays, there will not be any regularly-scheduled server rolls for the next few weeks.  The next round of server deploys is scheduled for the week of January 7.
  20. Whirly Fizzle wrote: Can you reproduce the same problem on another viewer that has the copy/paste object position and the align feature? Can you reproduce it also on another region? That would help to narrow down if this is a region problem or something that changed in the server update or if its a specific issue with Singularity. Yes, I would be very interested in whether this reproduces with the 3.6.12.384506 release viewer ( from http://get.secondlife.com). At this point, I think it makes more sense to track this issue in a Jira than try to continue in a forum thread, however.
  21. ObviousAltIsObvious wrote: "Take Copy" works and "Take" does not work, also happens if somebody is sitting on the object. Could this be part of the "stuck in sat upon" bug you are fixing in the RC? That's an interesting idea, but doesn't seem to be related to the bug (BUG-4635) which is being fixed on the RCs. 'About Land' indicates 0 selected/sat upon, and objects which are affected by BUG-4635 have the 'Take' option available in the context menu.
  22. Hm, I see your 'take copy' operation on the house at 3:16pm PST, which appears to have worked. Having 'Take Copy' enabled in the UI but not 'Take' would only make sense if somebody else owned the house and enabled 'Anyone Can Copy' on it. But since you are the house's owner, both 'Take', 'Take Copy', and 'Delete' should be all enabled. Of course, since you also own the land, the 'Return' option should be available. Having the wrong UI enabled is primarily a viewer bug, though it could be triggered by the sim sending wrong data for the object (which would be hinted at in the build tool's 'General' tab with wrong object owner info, for example). So far, I haven't been able to reproduce this issue, but if you created a Jira with as many details as you can gather, that would be helpful.
  23. Hi Pamela, where are you seeing this issue? Are you able to take other objects into inventory, such as a newly-created box?
