    Second Life Server (main channel)

    The main channel is getting the inventory update project, which was previously on BlueSteel.  This project enables support for a new version of the inventory service, AISv3.  To make use of this new feature, login with the current release viewer.

    BlueSteel is getting a new server maintenance project.  This project adds the ability for LSL functions to view and modify the render materials (normal map, specular map, and diffuse texture alpha mode) properties on prims, via new prim parameters.

    It may be technically possible, but there are no plans for that feature.  The permissions handling for that would be tricky - group-deeded objects couldn't automatically be allowed, since having 'Deed objects to group' ability does not imply you have 'Manage ban list' ability in the group.

    One option would be to require that the script be owned by a member and set to the group, and be connect to the sim that the object is in, similar to llRezObject() behavior per SVC-3145.  This option is pretty ugly and not very useful, however.

    The Second Life Service will be closed for logins for approximately one hour on Thursday, 22 May beginning at 7am PDT.

    Residents in world will not be logged out, but will experience loss of supporting services such as search and inventory. New logins will not be accepted, and Residents in world should not attempt to transfer or manipulate L$ or valuable (no-copy) assets until the ALL CLEAR is given.

    Update at 2014-05-20 14:02 PDT: The rolls have been rescheduled for the rest of this week.  The main channel regions which were not rolled today (that is, those not yet on 14.05.09.289913) will be rolled on Wednesday morning at the usual main channel roll time.  The RC rolls have been rescheduled for Thursday morning at the usual RC channel roll time.

    Update at 2014-05-20 09:57 PDT: Due to this morning's unscheduled maintenance, the RC rolls originally scheduled for tomorrow have been canceled.

    Marianne's assumption is correct; the 'network issues' would result in a variety of transaction failures and cause many data-fetching operations to fail.  The failures are pretty straightforward when they occur, though; I wouldn't expect them to direclty result in packet loss or sim/viewer FPS reduction.

    Hi LadyBoy, I checked out Mandolin, and found the issue - it's affected by BUG-4704.  In case you're curious, the tell-tale sign in this bug is in viewer log spam:

    The URL the viewer is trying to reach is "https://sim10586:.." when it should be "https://sim10586.agni.lindenlab.com:...".  When the viewer can't access the capabilities URLs, you'll find that you can't fetch your inventory, load meshes, view parcel details, etc, in addition to LSL scripts getting 'bad' URLs.

    I've contacted support about this instance of the bug on sim10586, but in the future I would recommend contacting support direclty, for a faster response.
