  1. Thank you! Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
  2. I'm not sure where to post this - it doesn't fit any of the pre-determined categories - but it is directly SL-related. I put it here because we use the community tools to help build our friendships. I'm open to this being moved, if someone can figure out where it belongs. The Community Tools User Group meets on Thursdays (info here). This might be a good meeting to attend if you have concerns or wish to express feedback about the new community tools.
  3. I of course can't start a thread about this here, nor can I think of an appropriate forum to place this, but I would strongly urge anyone who can make it to attend Amanda's Community Tools User Group meeting tomorrow (info here) to express concerns about the new platform.
  4. So what, Amanda? We can't even TALK about GD? Geen keeps posting this on any thread talking about GD: Hi everyone, please read the comment made by Amanda Linden in regard to General Discussion on the forum by clicking the link below. This thread, and other General Discussion threads will be closed. All any threads questioning LL's decisions going to get locked or only those threads talking about GD? Are you intentionally trying to drive people to third-party forums?
  5. If the goal is to keep the forums focused, then abandoning GD is not the way to go. All the forums will start getting threads that begin to drift from the main focus of that particular forum. GD is an outlet valve, not just for people's frustrations and concerns, but for threads that have no place else to go.
  6. You know I do. You and Ima and Quinn and Dee have been picking on me. /me grins
  7. Throw me in the threaded view camp. So far, the options appear to be reading older to newer or newer to older, but all in flat view. Threaded view gives you the actual flow of conversation and makes it easier to follow a string. I'd also argue that flat view leads to more argumentative threads, because people don't have the option of avoiding an argument all together like they can in threaded view.
  8. So no more threaded view? Or am I just not figuring out how to get it?
  9. While reading the different comments to this post I found many opinions that I share. To name the two most important ones: New guidlines for posting means LL threatens residents who don't follow the "party line" to get banned in SL. The failure to respond to the many times this point has been raised in this blog speaks volumes about the real intention of these changes ... I don't mean to sound flip, but what exactly is it that has changed between the old guidelines and the new guidelines to make you think there is now a codified policy to threaten residents who don't follow the party line? Because I'm not seeing anything different to allow you to make that case. That's leaving aside the possibility of an uncodified policy, of course.
  10. VooDoo/Nathaniel/Medhue/Ann/Mike--Great question! Clearly an oversight on my part for not mentioning it earlier. To join a User Group, you just pop into their public meetings listed on the User Group page. No sign up sheets and no hassle. And, no special passwords. And, Ann--glad you like the calendar! One follow-up: the in-world meeting time for the groups I am interested in conflict with my RL work. Is there another method for joining?
  11. I'd also like to know what the process is for joining a user group. Also, is there any chance of seeing a copy of the previous guidelines in order to compare?

I think you are assuming the Lindens who deal with this sort of thing are evil overlords though who don't have a sense of humour though. Not in the least - clearly there are people with fine senses of humor up and down the corporation. I firmly believe, however, that it is a mistake to confuse people within a corporation having a sense of humor with the corporation itself having a sense of humor. She may not have done it with malicious intent, but she clearly did it with intent, and she clearly knew there was a possibility she might be confused with a Linden (otherwise, why put the disclaimer on her profile?). She's compounding it with posts here (when she clearly knows she shouldn't be posting) that can be easily read as her not thinking she did anything wrong other than get caught and now complaining about the process. I know that's how I read them, and I doubt I'm the only one. I hope I'm wrong, but considering the amount of time that has passed, I don't think she's getting back in and I wouldn't be shocked if her posts here played a role in her not getting back in.
  13. Suella Ember wrote: Perhaps even link to this thread - I don't think it would be a good idea for her to draw attention to the fact that she created an alt - two of them, actually - and is posting while banned. In fact, I think that would be a very, very, very, very, very bad idea. Doubly so, because so much of what she has posted here could be read as not taking her situation seriously.

'Give you an opening' ... you are gonna run with that ain't you?! I may walk with it for a bit, so I can think more about it more thoroughly...
  15. I meant that she shouldn't post under a different account. Tough as it might be, she should just wait until she hears from LL.
  16. Wasted keeps making new accounts, though. It's not that any old account of his is allowed to keep posting.

I know Daria/Amethyst is getting away with it for some reason, but generally speaking, posting while banned is likely to get you a perma-ban. Same with going in-world. Now that you mention it, it is odd that she CANNOT post in here as Keli Kyrie. Obviously Keli Iinden would be a mistake, but don't we frequently have posters here who are banned in-world, but can still post in the forums? ETA: Maybe the difference lies between an administrative hold (still able to post) vs a permaban (not able to)? You're right, we do. I hadn't thought of that. That's a scary thought.

Well, once the flies started appearing, she stopped licking.
