  1. This is nothing new. I saw a scammer selling one of my freebies for 8000L$. I made a comment on the item saying it was not worth 8000L$ and was in fact one of my freebies, I can not DMCA as I gave it away full perms. It annoys me that people see my name as the creator and that 2 people who paid 8k for it item contacted me and called ME a scammer. I then Flagged all the items (as they were selling, as they were selling it Copy/No Tran/No Mod, Mod/Copy/No Tran and one Full Perms). There was also a review that said it was my item and told people not to buy it as it was not as described. I also gave a list of other Merchants (and suggested they look at them for being Alts of the same scammer) that were also selling empty boxes and stolen HUD's.

SOOO, WHAT DID LINDEN LABS DO?

They DELETED the Buyer review and DELETED my comments. Needless to say all scam merchants are still doing great business on the MP, as are LL with their share of the scamming profits.

  2. I had just the one transaction in 2012, for the massive sum of 30 USD

The critiera for sending out the Tax form is 200 transaction or more and or 20,000 USD, that is what LL say. This is not the case, as I have been sent one. Thus the Linden Lab statement is not correct, untrue, a lie. Thus, they should either remove it or stick with it and look at complaints. That seems fair to me.

  3.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires Linden Lab to collect and retain Form W-9 (for U.S. residents) and Form W-8BEN (for non-U.S. residents) at certain transaction volumes. If you reach the transaction threshold and we do not have your completed and signed W-9 or W-8BEN on file, we are required to withhold funds from your account (at the current rate of 28% of your gross amounts received). Additionally, for U.S. residents with 200 or more transactions with a total amount in excess of $20,000 in a calendar year, we are required to file a Form 1099-K with the IRS reporting those transactions for that year.

If you are required to submit a W-9 or W-8BEN form to us, we will email you before the end of the year with instructions on how to do so. Please follow the instructions to complete and submit the required Form W-9 or W-8BEN within thirty (30) days of receipt. You will only need to complete this paperwork once unless your information changes from year-to-year. If you do not receive an email from Linden Lab, we do not need you to complete these forms.

THE ABOVE IS A TOTAL LIE, I HAVE JUST 24 TRANSACTIONS AND WAYYYYY LESS THAN 20,000 USD.

I TELL THEM AND WHAT DO I GET?

    Dear Legend Hye,

Due to the volume of transactions you have completed on the LindeX this year, Linden Lab is now required to collect certain tax-related documentation from you:

If you are a U.S. citizen or U.S. person (as defined by the IRS), please complete a W-9 form here: https://secure.echosign.com/public/hostedForm?formid=7X8TPB4E4U4I5C
If you are a U.S. business or other non-individual U.S. taxpayer, please complete a W-9 form here: https://secure.echosign.com/public/hostedForm?formid=7XBB3B5R4Y3L4H
If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. business, please complete a W-8BEN form here: https://secure.echosign.com/public/hostedForm?formid=7XBB3LN2WIXD4M

Please complete only ONE of the above forms.

Your paperwork must be submitted within 30 days, and any pending process credit requests will be held until receipt of your form.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. You will only need to do this a single time; once we have a W-9 on file for you, it will carry over from year-to-year. However, if your information changes, you will need to notify us and submit a new version.

    Thank you,
    Linden Lab

    Me

I think you have sent me this in ERROR, as you state that a requirement would be 200 transactions (which I assume is L$ to USD transactions) and value of 20,000 USD. I can prove from my Process Credit History that this year there have been 24 transactions processed to date, and value in USD much less than 20,000 USD. Which I already pay TAX on in the UK, as being Self Employed.
If you do not believe what I say here feel free to look at my details.

I look forward to hearing from you,

  5. Yes, they still have not got their act together yet.

I also have a Cash Out on that date too, Friday the 1st Feb. I noticed that my Account History had changes to "Cashed Out" so normally when this changes I go to PayPal and the money is there. But I looked and it was not, so I gave it 6 hours and still nothing. I was worried so called LL Support on the phone and was told not to worry, it had not payed out yet, but it would soon. I was told they needed 5 business days so it would be there on Monday. Well, Monday, Tuesday and today Wednesday I called them again. I was told that there was a problem with PayPal (nothing to do with LL, YEAH, NEVER THEIR FAULT). I was told LL would contact PayPal for me and try to sort it out (they are so kind, as its got nothing to do with them, they are just being super helpful, RIGHT?).

So I am stil waiting, what a total mess.

  6. I am afraid being honest and truthful in todays world can put you out of a job (no matter how good you are at it).

I was a polymer chemist for over 15 years, Comany policy was to give customers samples of the correct spec materials, but for the actual products we would use slightly lower spec material. When I became Manager, I ignored the policy and did business MY way. We actually did much better and had few problems, untill a VP from the USA division came over and repoert me to Head Office, I was then told to keep to company policy or else I would be fired. I had no choice in the matter after that,

That VP did very well in the comany and always had a dislike of me. He later became my boss and fired me lol,

Its just the way the world we live in is now :(

  7. I make my living on SL making Magic HUD's, they have animations and Particle FX, some magic spells push and lift or deform an avatar, but nothing serious. The HUD's are ment for RP and general fun, ofcourse some use them for griefing. I make spells temp rez to try to reduce the chance of griefing with the spells. But we are not talking about such scripts used in magic HUD's. We are talking about scripts made for the sole purpose of taking other users offline and possibly damaging a video card in their computer. For me creators of these scripts should be banned from SL, anyone with a Crash type script should have their account deleted. However, LL have just turned a blind eye. I kinda wonder how much LL make off the sale of these type of so called Combat HUD's. I suspect they make a fair amount and that is one reason why they choose to ignore this kind of thing.

    Just my opinion,

    Legend Hye

  8. Nope, other Paypal transactions are as normal, kinda what I expected.

The LL policy is as with many... well who am I trying to kid... ALL companies policy is to put the blame else where until you HAVE to come clean.

  9. I wonder how many of us are seeing big delays on cashing out the USD out to Paypal.

From what I hear LL are blaming Paypal for the delay and Paypal say its got nothing to do with them.

At the end of the day (as ALWAYS) we just have to wait on LL. I was just wondering how many are seeing delays and how long we can expect to wait. I have been waiting since 2nd Jan, 2013. Anyone waiting longer?

It would also be nice if Linden Labs actually informed customers of this problem, but that would fall under customer service which LL lack greatly on.

    Thank,

    Legend Hye

  10. Well,  glad to see LL did the right thing and gave everyone their L$ sale back to them, so thanks.

I have to admit, I was not expecting them too, I am sure they would have made quite a bit of money if they had not.

From what I hear most people have already got all their sales money back already.

  11. If Linden Labs were a responsible company they would explain and say they were sorry in a place that ALL could see, for example when you log in to the MP. Only a small number of people look at forums etc. Most people who use MP have no idea of who is to blame when things go wrong (which is often). Most customers blame the merchant, this takes the blame away from LL and I expect thats the way LL likes it.

Yesterday was a TOTAL MESS, what sane company would do maintenance on the MP on Valentines Day? They KNEW it was going to be busy.

So, now what? Many of us merchants have lots of sales showing up as "Being Delivered" they have been there for OVER 24 hours. In most cases the buyer has paid and received the item, but the merchant has not been paid. I suspect LL will change all those sales to "Failed " soon and will keep the L$ the buyer paid and leave the merchant high and dry. But I would be VERY HAPPY if LL would prove me wrong.

  12. Doing a review saying you didnt get it and giving one star is the wrong thing to do... YOU will be hitting the wrong person. Its not the Merchants fault, they are victims as much as the buyer. Doing that will only cause the seller harm and the seller that has over 100 items on the MP may not even see it. If you dont get an item. IM the Merchant, better still send them a notecard giving the purchase information. You will find it much quicker and you will get your item. Now if the Merchant tells you they have not been paid for the item you should then make out a ticket to get your money back from the MP.

AGAIN, I stress NON DELIVERY IS NOT A FAULT OF THE MERCHANT, so do not treat them like the enemy..... look towards LINDEN LABS they are the ones to blame.

  13. I assume you have tried more than once and not got a delivery. But if you have just tried the one time, I would suggest you try again as you may just have been unlucky. Anyone who uses the Marketplace on a regular basis knows the delivery system is borked and quite often customers don't get their items first time round.

    Legend Hye

  14. Glad to be of help :)

Its always a good idea to look thru your item ratings on a regular basis. Having a product with a 1 star review will affect its sales, although if you are an experienced MPer you will choose to ignore such ratings. None the less having a bad review of any kind unless there is a good reason (in which case, I want to know so I can correct it) is something I hate to have.

    Legend Hye

  15. Yes, I am afraid many do.

Quite often they will do a review without even contacting you. Which for many of us means we will not even see they didn't get it until days, weeks or even months  later as now we do not get informed when a review is made. If I see a review like that I will contact them and explain and give them a copy of the item, but only about 50% of people respond back and no one ever changes the review. You of course flag the review. Its now takes less than 24 hours to get the review removed, so it has improved.

  16. The MP delivery system is poor to say the least. Most merchants hate it and would love to see it improved, as a matter of urgency. However, LL don't seem to see it as a problem. Fact is buyers don't blame or contact LL, they IM the merchant and ask, "why the hell have I not got my item from you?". I will always be happy to send the item again as most merchants will (assuming its not transferable). But at the end of the day only a small percentage of people contact LL so thats why LL don't see it as a problem. We merchants do their job for them and take the blame for the borked system.

I would say to buyers and merchants... complain to LL, sure send the item to the customer. But ask the customer to put a ticket in and you do too. When they get all these tickets they may decide it is a PROBLEM.
