Well the document lists triangles/mesh as the most expensive physics type. I don't know though how inworld prims are composed, whether they are triangle based meshes too.
  2. Viewing chat history is a vast improvement compared to going through txt files on your hard drive.
  3. Search on Google for creating textures in Gimp. Gimp is a free download, so it's the legitimate way to go for someone new to textures, you will find tutorials for making textures.
  4. Well it sounds like DD will fix that issue, no need for land, no need to be active, the content will stay forever.
  5. Rather amusingly, I'm sitting here with a can of Stella Artois and here on these very forums an advert for Stella Artois appears! I know google are constantly trying to improve their algorithms to search relevant ads but surely they can't be that good!
  6. Vegro Solari wrote: For merchants it's natural to have a short-sighted focus on their own "bottom line", and I get the thinking where "less freebies means people might buy my stuff more", but there must be a few here who realize that a lot of very unique freebies that used to be part of the SecondLife cultural Commons are about to be, or were already wiped out by this latest LL move... The thing is, how do you fix that? Merchants have been emailed about the migration date, those who do migrate, the content will still be there. Those who don't, it's an unfortunate loss in some cases but what else could be done to keep those valuable items around if the creator hasn't got the time to migrate?
  7. There have been reports of delays between a sale and payment being received, did this happen recently? If it has been more than a day then definitely file a ticket.
  8. Read that before too and I'm, also amused by the footer. However the document raises some good points and suggests using a mesh physics shape isn't ideal, did I read that right?
  9. Pamela Galli wrote: Actually our thinking is like everyone elses -- hoping the old stuff listed by inactive accounts that cannot provide support, disappears. I think the issue of inactive accounts will be a bigger problem moving forward, at least with magic boxes you needed a land presence, with that requirement gone the pootential for unmanned content to be around is larger.
  10. A lot of items in that bracket would have been demos.
  11. To be fair to the devs, CHUI has been in a project viewer form and more recently intergrated within the beta viewer.
  12. I wonder how those ads work out compared to LL offering their own ad solution in terms of revenue for LL. I'm certainly happier seeing ads such as that one, at least some will find them relevant.
  13. You can change settings and minimise some of the settings but yes, people are not going to like the amount of screen space it takes up. This is a big change, there is a help video.
  14. Madeliefste Oh wrote: It is not said that the delay happens on the side of LL. It can also be Paypal. It can have to do with where you live, and how you are verified at PP. I can get my money from another exchange pretty instantly, if paypal are delaying LL transactions then LL should have a word with them, they send enough business their way.
  15. There's another post about voice here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Voice-reconnecting-every-minute/m-p/1957713#M18833 Are you getting a similar issue?
  16. Only a few people will be able to see your Jira Danny, most of us will get a permission violation due to how the Jira is setup these days. Was the fix a viewer fix or a patch or something else?
  17. Linden Lab don't know about an infringement until it has been reported and without the content creator reporting it, that's difficult for them. I have seen examples where I feel Linden Lab could take action without contact from a content creator, that's usually when they aren't even selling copybotted items, they're not really selling anything, in those circumstances LL should be able to step in.

(Bolding mine) Was that a Fredian slip? (Sorry, couldn't resist.) ETA: I've had the flu or something for the past few days so I'm a bit loopy at the moment. Or a Freudian slip
  19. Agreed on the commuications, if you check the tools and technlogy blog you can see how updates and information have slowed to a crawl over the last couple of years, they used to give us more information: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Tools-and-Technology/bg-p/blog_technology
  20. Ah something that may have passed people by, or maybe they didn't think about but demos will be unlisted if you haven't migrated.
  21. The maturity rating guidelines have long said cigarettes and alcohol are mature items. In the case of virtual alcohol I've always found it a tad silly as WoW has taverns galore and drinking festivals and that's rated 13+ but there you go.

  23. Yup that's my thinking too, although it seems as if something is getting stuck, as in the interest lists stop updating.
  24. Porky Gorky wrote: All those types of companies you mention generally widely advertise the fact that they have special deals for new or returning customers. It's an obvious selling point. LL have not done this and I have to wonder why. If they have deals available to attract new business then they should be shouting about it from the rooftops. Not always, my cable company gave me a discount when I phoned up to downgrade, it wasn't an advertised discount.
