Now I feel like a black guy, so much problems just because of my nationality. More baloney. Anyone who clicks the link in the OP can see that Russia is not banned from PayPal cashout. Are you sure? I know they never used to allow withdrawals, then they would allow withdrawals to a US bank account, not a Russian one and then there was talk of some card that could be used with withdrawals but Paypal in Russia hasn't historically been the service we get in Europe and the USA.
  2. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: So, everyone wants to use SL but no one wants to support the company running it... If you read all of the other threads like this you would realize this was done in accordance to new US laws about money laundering.. This is soundong more and more like the rants that came out when Age play was banned.. Suck it up. If it has been done to compy with new guidelines, then Linden Lab could have said that. They have not made any mention of those new guidelines. They have not given sufficient notice., they have not acted in a professional manner, they have caused problems for their own users and they can't even get their blog posts to match their terms of service.
  3. They are new guidelines, not new regulations, the regulations are old.
  4. AnsheX has no statements about the TOS change and appears to be trading. Podex also have no statements and appears to be trading.
  5. I really don't understand why the LindeX cannot compete with the third party exchanges on payment options and speed of service, I mean the LindeX is far and away the largest exchange, why does it have less options than the smaller exchanges?

The source speaks here: http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/general-sl-discussion/83054-5-6-tos-change-end-5.html#post1766161
  7. Malanya wrote: It "may" make sense lol, but it seems only logical since business and/or estate owners don't have any LL account managers that I know of, and I doubt LL would assign anyone to a resident for any reason. This is a large account holder, one of the Top 10 land barons, they have an account manager.
  8. DX Exchange have announced: "Following the new Terms of Service of Linden Lab, we have received many inquiries from customers. At this moment we did not receive an immediate notification from Linden Lab concerning the activities of DXexchange. However, we are in talk with other by LL previously approved exchanges to assess the situation. For now we will continue our activities as an exchange office. Since our start in 2006, we always have had good contact with Linden Lab and it has always been clear to our customers that buying Linden dollars at DXexchange does fall under the responsibility and risk of DXexchange and does not fall under the responsibility or risk of LL. That is not changed. Because we ourselves bear the risk of unauthorized credit card transactions, we have made one change: Rush orders for selling Linden dollars were made impossible until further notice. This creates more time for LL to check sales orders and we can still block an order before we proceed to out-payment." So they are still trading for now, as are Podex and AnsheX by the looks of it. However at least eight exchanges have ceased trading for now.
  9. Evony Silverblade wrote: I'm confused. You're far from the only one, the blog post said they were not allowed, the exchanges are currently largely closed and it looks like they are indeed dead.
  10. Yup you buy from a pool of Linden Dollars and then it depends upon how you buy, be it limit or market rates, you may not be buying it all from one person.
  11. Madeliefste Oh wrote: When you sell you always sell to other residents (through the Lindex). But when you buy, the money can both come from another resident or right away from the 'L$ press'. Supply Linden was the Linden selling account, I'm not sure how they figured that into their accounting figures but quite a while before Linden Lab removed the stats from their website, Supply Linden sales were at zero.
  12. The Third Party exchanges are currently largely closed down, some whilst seeking further clarification whilst others seem to have shut down full stop.
  13. You buy Linden Dollars from another resident, not Linden Lab. Linden Lab just provide the exchange.
  14. One of the third party exchanges has already stopped taking sell orders whilst they try and get more information regarding what exactly these changes mean. The Risk API was ran by Linden Lab, they have no obligation to run one, but you'd think they'd clarify the situation with the people who have been using it.
  15. Eldexchange are not taking any new sell orders whilst they try to seek more information about the consequences of the TOS change. https://www.eldexchange.eu/en/news/new-second-life-tos-2.html
  16. KeiraKeira wrote: The blog tries to make out that buying Linden Dollars from outside parties is not allowed full stop. The blog article seems to imply that buying Linden Dollars from outside suppliers is against the TOS, which would be a big deal for anyone attempting to do so.. Agreed and this is where the confusion arises, the blog post suggests that using a third party exchange is against the terms of service, the terms of service themself, as you observed yourself, makes no such claim. KeiraKeira wrote: The TOS change doesn't look like anything new to me at all. The actual wording effectively says "do so at your own risk." Did I miss something or did the person who wrote the blog article not think it worth reading the TOS changes before posting? Given that the TOS is the official document, and the blog is just some "news" story written by someone who didn't check their sources, I think it safe to ignore the blog and carry on as usual. Correct me if I'm wrong. There is a big background change that the blog post doesn't mention. The Risk API, which reputable third party exchanges used to check whether a transaction was considered risky, appears to have been withdrawn, leaving third party exchanges in an awkward situation and exposed to more risk.
  17. Perrie Juran wrote: arton Rotaru wrote: Yeah, looks like they removed the Risk API, and you do at your own risk when using a third party exchange. You still proceeded at your own risk when you used them: Linden Lab never 'guaranteed' them. But it looks like they are now washing their hands completely of any responsibility. Regardless, I can still find no reference to their use NOT BEING ALLOWED. The Blog Post says: "the updated Terms of Service make it clear that trading of Linden dollars (L$) on exchanges other than the LindeX, Second Life’s official L$ exchange, is not authorized or allowed." The Terms of Service make no reference whatsoever to it not being allowed. They seem to have a strange definition of making things clear.
  18. You may need a verified Paypal account to be able to cash out, but there's no issue with cashing out to Paypal from Europe in general.
  19. Absolutely agreed, the only reason I have ever used an alternative exchange is because the Lindex takes such a long time to process payments, I accept a worse rate to get the money in my bank faster.
  20. Ah those word filters, we're back to having Dick Van **bleep** censored I see, well partially censored, at one stage it was **Bleep** Van **Bleep** then they fixed it but now it's Dick Van **bleep**.
  21. dd Temin wrote: Since the jira policy changed to hide any bug postings from the sl residents...This forum remains the only place for the residents to share sl bug issues. Yes its still necessary and helpful to file a Jira report on NEW issues/bugs.......But it hardly seems worth the effort to file Jira reports on bugs that have existed for months that both residents and Lindens are already aware of. Indeed, the forum is a place for discussing issues as we can't discuss issues on the Jira in the main. The only issue is that as we can't even search the Jira efficiently anymore, we don't know what's a new issue and what isn't, which is another problem with the changes.
  22. You can't walk inside a convex hull as I recall, you'll need to change the physics shape to prim. I'm not sure that loading it as one item is the best way forward, you might want to be break it into modules.
  23. dd Temin wrote: It seems to me that this bug needs to be fixed onthe SERVER side !....... Otherwise all 3rd party viewers will continue to have thiis problem and only the official Linden viewer will work without this bug, Perhaps this is a another subtle method of forcing all residents to use only the official Linden viewer. No, third party viewers will be fine because they will be able to implement the same fix to their viewers that Linden lab implement, Linden Lab won't make the fix secret when it comes to viewer developers.
  24. Thanks for all the replies and one tip to add to all the ones here, check the angles of your faces before rotating anything, the reason the rotation looks a tad odd when I use rotation on the extruded faces is because the angles weren't what I assumed they were .... which was rather silly of me considering there's a tick box to turn face angles on!
