  1. Czari - I would let you do that in a heartbeat through my store, but it looks like I might be in time frame and/or technical bind, too, so can't offer that confidently to someone else. sorry about what you're going through in physical world, you hang in there. one day at a time is sometimes all you can do. your comment to Anaiya.... "Thank you for your response and understanding, Anaiya. My MP sales are what allowed me to participate in other aspects of SL without having to put any RL funds into it. Once other merchants who are not yet aware of this proposed change hear of it or worse, stop getting MP sales and investigate what happened, perhaps LL will reconsider this phasing out time frame." You were one of the very first people to set foot in my rinky dinky store over 3 and a half years ago, and one of the first friends I made through the store experience. Ya'll supported me and many others, for many years, and I appreciate that. Even if I were to personally work out tech issues....I don't really care to watch another village of people be forced to shut down their joys in the virtual world. That stinks. Going to evaluate that a bit. It gets old. I'm re-tweeting pleas to The Man on my twitter timeline - click the link below - many people beyond this forum insisting on a longer time frame in order to get ducks in a row. Hang in there
  2. thanks, Sea, but using a laptop. an Imac is a desk top? not sure. the video didn't help because I can't use V3 - will try to hire someone to reduce to lay person terms, that might be route to go.
  3. looking for a tech savvy person who can translate tech instructions into layman terms and help with a new viewer install and explain the direct delivery process. preferably during US evening hours, 6 pm SL time to 10pm SL time. contact via IM
  4. "DD is the fly in my ointment and the quick phase of magic boxes just makes me feel like it's all too hard, there is another battle around every corner and right at this moment, I honestly do not know if I can be bothered anymore." I hear you, loud and clear. right there. anticipated some glitches, but flushing a good segment of the population was not on that list. would be interesting to know if after a year long delay, the rush to eliminate the magic boxes in such a short time frame, has to do with initiating listing fees per item. don't have good vibes on this. not sure what portion of the selling population is on a "souped up" computer, but I don't think it is that large.
  5. not super sure I want to install a new version that requires more resources, if that's Anaiya's problem, but going to attempt. it might take a day or two, because not really grasping the "clean install" lingo. sounds like you have to go to a bunch of files and do some mumbo jumbo geeky stuff. sure hope it doesn't require more resources, will have to slaughter some horsies.
  6. wow, that's awesome, good for you! bet that's a relief. not really sure how ya'll are doing that, but way to go!
  7. just spoke to Miro on twitter, and he gave this link about Direct Delivery and Phoenix http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/direct_delivery_faq was not sure about if Phoenix would be in position to offer it, but I did not realize that Phoenix made Firestorm, so suppose it is ok to go ahead and load that. sure hope it does not require any more resources on a laptop, have baby horses and kitties on the way!
  8. Here's what I'm thinking, Josh, and going to analyze a bit over the next few weeks. It's a slight kick in the gut that after we waited for a year, (at a cost)....that they are going to require a rush phase out. is that an oxymoron - slight kick in the gut? rush phase out? I'll watch to see if an official email is sent, with directions that have been updated properly, without terms that are misleading and confusing to those who have not read every single word in the forums for the last year. the thing about some viewers not allowing, just became concern, because I know a lot of merchants/customers who use the same viewer I do, that evidently will not work. gotta figure that out. it's early....I'll cut slack...but every time they do this stuff with a major inconvenience (and for right this minute, just talking the short time frame on magic box), and without a formal communication....it sends message that they are catering to those people who make several grand a month, and can drop everything to revamp their stores overnight, and are getting assistance behind the normal channels of communication (whatever those normal channels are - none seem to work)
  9. I've got an asus, Darrius...doubt that I need to run that test. It still runs hot under certain circumstances, so even that kind of laptop is under stress. but was in a predicament last year, on a different laptop (as others are right now)....well, when they find out, that is. suspect that there will be more confusion about having to switch viewers. Czari is in a predicament in that other thread, do you think that Firestorm might work for her? appreciate the info, but that page you sent me to is full of geek related stuff. trying to keep this non-geek. (not sure why that requires sainthood - the geeks are helping each other out)
  10. well, I skipped over the episode of tpv drama last month....was this part of it? I'll go back and catch up a little on that, but dang....this means that Phoenix will lose the merchant population? And what about the resources required on these other versions? Phoenix was best for a laptop. holy COW!!!
  11. thanks for the info....holy cow, bummer!!! it seems like 90% of the people in SL were using Phoenix last time I checked...what happened? Do people know this?
  12. Bonjour, Darrius...(Bonsoir, this time of day).....oh, thank god....learned some French on vacation! very familiar with the phrase "je ne comprends pas" handled the opening the box part fine....but that's why I wrote the name down on paper the old-fashioned way, because inventory is a mess, and did not want it to get confused with a similar title or something. Doubt I'm the only one with a messy inventory. Assumed it would work fine with Phoenix....non?
  13. shoot - was afraid that was going to happen. Don't give up just yet, Czari - run it up until the deadline - but no, you're not going to be the only one in that position. Deal is, unless all of the others get an official email, they are not going to know, so you might not hear about that here. An option for you, would be to hook up with someone who has similar line, and sell your items under their brand, with a split between the two of you. Gradually, some more options will come in what to do with the old viewer problem, maybe, as people discover there is a glitch with that. But don't throw your hands up just yet, you've got good stuff to sell.
  14. Based on the short time frame they gave us, if you're Non-Geek, might want to get in gear. Thinking 5 items per day is doable. Grab a mojito. Watched a tutorial, but looks like it is using another viewer. This might throw your train of thought off a bit. (as a non-geek) Also, the guidelines they directed us toward have heavy use of the "Aditi" term, which was the beta testing thingy. Unless I clicked on the wrong link here - entirely possible. You might not be familiar with the Aditi term, if you were just now sent to learn this (hopefully a friend took pity on you and sent you a message or something, as of yet, have not received official email that the system is ready to use, with instructions) Anyways.... as a Non-Geek, spooked...I grabbed an old-fashioned notebook and wrote down the title of ONE item. my titles are a bit unorganized - maybe yours are too. I set the box on the floor of the workshop in case I accidentally delete it in the process or something. Sounds like you have to unpack them, but hold your horses, not really sure about that. The instructions are geared toward using a folder, and not a box, so did not want to risk messing up.....so unpacked the dang thing. Then, located that folder in inventory and slipped it into the folder titled Merchant Outbox. I sure hope you have one of those, because I have no idea how to get one, if you don't. In my inventory, that was located just under the Lost and Found folder. Alrighty....got that done, and the video tells you to click on the "Me" option to load that into the marketplace. But I don't see a "Me" option anywhere. How we doin' so far? Lemme go study how to find the "Me" option, and will report back.
  15. curious, how you're going to handle this. doubt I would delete the contents of the magic box so early in the game.
  16. We have to unpack all of those boxes, Benski? yikes
  17. howdy Marcus shhhh, not too loud, that was a long vacation! like my tan?
  18. hi Soulstress - I'll be happy to take a look around, and see if I can snap some cool sunsets for you. Not much of a blogger, but use a combination of a few pics on blog, twitpic, and pinterest, to score first page google. You can click on my pics tab below to see some examples.
  19. "I can list that nifty product and move onto other things, without being engineered to believe that contributing free labor besides commission makes me "community". In a nutshell
  20. Faye, same difficulties just trying to create a new avatar. Had to research just to get out of the cloud phase, and the instructions came from other customers, mostly. And not one definite answer, just a list of things to try. Most are not going to attempt that. Many years ago, you could tell a physical world friend to just log into the main page, grab an avatar, and meet you on the beach in five minutes - you tp them from the welcome center, 5 minutes of instruction, and they are good-to-go. I dread trying to get someone in here, now. We asked how to prepare many months ago, and it was not clear. Most information came from customers, and it was conflicting. So you really did not miss anything. We were told basically (if I recall correctly) that if we wanted advance preparation, then we had to become a beta tester. No. I'm not a beta tester, I'm someone who had a rockin' business in place, before they kept punchin' buttons here and there. As are others. If I had the luxury of beta testing time to donate, I would go do it for a company that has marketing in place, and offers some perks. I don't think there is anything you can do to prepare, except to prepare for down time. I suppose timing is ok, unless you busted out a bunch of easter stuff. And people probably learned their lesson on that, on Valentine's day. Some will say they are making it work, but I suspect that they have the whole day to play around with it. Using your own business time to help a company roll out a new feature, or pacify the crowds during a feature glitch... ain't exactly "optimum" use of business time. Neither is working a 14 hour day in a venue that is basically a beta test. I don't think that we should have to become computer programmers to sell stuff. None of the other sites require that. Someone here called me lazy a few times, because I won't study the jiras and wikis and learn lingo. Why would you do that, when you could plug into something else that is ready to go? and offers perks in addition? That's not my problem or your problem - that's the site's problem. There is an arrogance about that, assuming your customer is going to jump through hoops, and adapt to anything. Seems to be working, though. Fascinating business model to watch.
  21. hi BellaDonna - if you're relying on your SL sales for income, I would suggest getting a part-time job asap, and always have a sideline in the background that you can ramp up for income when they tweak things that cause us to have to start all over again. the financial loss burden on top of the time burden really takes a toll (just reminiscing fondly over the last year and a half) so having a back-up that is easy to work into action on a week's notice works wonders for your frame of mind, plus you are not under so much pressure to adapt overnight, and can take it at your own speed. it seems as though the processes are becoming more technologically difficult, and requires hours of studying, and knowing major tech lingo to get going again. When an online sales venue tweaks their format, usually you just wake up the next day, and your page looks different, you get used to it, and you don't have to reformat your whole business. (not the case here) I do believe that one day in the future, your hard work and processes that you learned will have a major pay off in the virtual world, and believe it is worth hanging on, even if you have to keep it as a sideline until that day arrives. hang in there. it's really scary for those of us who do not understand all the tech lingo and processes, and who do not have the time to study forum posts all day long. seems like those years of learning and hard work are going to go down the drain....but maybe not! You are not alone. I'm not really sure if you can "play" and do business here at the same time anymore. Not if you have stuff going on in the physical world. Based on all we've had to adapt to over the last year....not sure how anyone can pull that off. A "play" break works wonders though! just hard to do both. speaking of which.... (thank you forum ladies for my little play break vacation - it worked wonders appreciate that forum effort)
  22. I'm going to tell you one more thing, Miss Zenovka. While you are wherever the hell you are.....gloating.....I had a very kind friend come in and help me start all over. We do not even speak the same language. He took screenshots - then printed a picture of a keyboard and inventory - he translated them to english for me - and then set them up in my workshop and was very patient with a non-tech furious, frustrated soul. For 3 hours. That is what kind people do when they see someone struggling. They do not mock and taunt and poke fingers and call people stupid and suggest they medicate and then call them names.....and watch silently while others struggle.....(those threads I posted have been sitting there for a while) ....until their own issue got solved..... .....then come in for the kill..... ......and gloat. I am very blessed. I sure as hell hope that your issue got resolved, and that you do not have to go back and start all over. Because I will not be there again. I will NEVER, EVER use my numbers to pressure Linden Lab or to promote a Jira again. And you will not know whether anything I do to experiment worked or not. I am off the team. YOU go back and clean up those assumptions that you left in those Jiras. I will not. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did something wrong - I did not understand one step - and my entire store on marketplace is gone now. All gone. Thank you very much, Miss Zenovka.
  23. Zanara Zenovka wrote: Oh also Mickey - i just noticed that the box that delivered to me is called "SL Exchange Magic Box black". The current box (for nearly 3 years) is called "XStreet SL Magic Box v3.0.11" Only the latest version works properly. I think that you are mistaken on this. I talked to a friend who helped me set the box up the last time - and he said that we did what Couldbe said to do - maybe - I'm not sure. We did something - We updated. I did not change the title on the box - and perhaps that is what you are reading. When I just did the script change this time - the scripts looked the same to me. We had updated. I just did not change the title on the box. eta: You ARE mistaken. I just watched a delivery actually go through, finally - and it appeared on my screen with the New Title that I just placed on the box, tonight. What you read - was simply a matter of me never changing the title on the box when we updated. You jumped to conclusions, then ran around to every avenue that you could, to claim a victory and continue to poke away. YOU are the one that might want to slow down just a tad. The mess I have to clean up right now - is not one that I made - it is one that you made.
  24. You know what? I am NOT DONE HERE. I knew better than to adjust anything during the week before Valentine's Day, after setting up promotions and new product for a solid month. But noooooooo.....someone with a God Complex had to poke and poke and poke and poke away, until I had no choice. I am down for the count - simply do not have the technical skills to regroup while one order after another during a VERY busy week, that was planned immediately after Christmas .....FAILS. Completely out of biz now - because someone needs a guinea pig to poke at. I knew better. Thank you very much, Zanara Zenovka. Congratulations.
