Josh Susanto wrote: Only 3 things can happen on deadline week: 1) I'm totally wrong about #2 and #3 (or the Earth could be destroyed by comet, yeah, whatever, OK) 2) Shutoff will proceed as planned, causing a near-total meltdown of the SLM delivery system. 3) Shutoff date will be postponed. The first one seems unlikely because it would require DD to be effectively debugged by that time, which, given how smoothly it was deployed in the first place, is wildly inconsistent with the prevailing pattern of bugs. The second one seems like something that would have happened 5 months ago if DD had been deployed 6 months ago. But after seeing LL actually respond (however badly) to the Valentines Day Massacre, I have to recognize that 3 is more likely. 3 is just another delay. Since we've given LL less sh## for delays than for deploying things too soon, that, alone would be a more obvious choice for them. And to be fair, they might not be smart enough to always pick the stupidest choice. I vote for number 2 because my hunch is that they are anxious to get it working, (screw whatever merchants didn't make it).....and start charging listing fees. Let's get this show on the road. And way more people are going to be using the system at deadline for that entire week - huge melt down. or number 3 - but man, they better try that asap, don't ya think? holy cow, if everyone stays up all night for a week, then they pull that option out at last minute, a month after everyone rearranged their work schedules to comply. Have they done anything on schedule yet? I can't recall anything.
  2. doubt you would get more orders transferring to DD unless one of your heavy competitors pulled the plug. not sure how someone can ramp up sales when you can't even get in to shop - I'm still not able to pull a page in a reasonable time frame. I saw the hemorrhaging, just wanted to stop it quicker this time. Glad you're still on track.
  3. That's great, Czari, but that very first day, my sales stopped dead in tracks. That rarely happens - it happened on Valentine's Day - and figured this would be ongoing Valetine's Day. Was watching the OMG, this is painful thread, and took those comments into consideration, too. Not sure if that has worked itself out or not, but chatting with people inworld today, I don't think that it has worked out for everyone.
  4. of course, you would not remember, because that is your everyday communication style. I prefer not to have people in the store who might be "communicating" that way with others who are having fun. sort of same deal as yours, except that it required about maybe two minutes, and this is your umpteenth thread on this, as well as other "issues"....which requires a ton of minutes. For businesses.....I would suggest using whatever marketing works for you. Very simple. The follow up message that I sent from the store for years, was highly effective. Two people became unglued. But I imagine that they become unglued about something once a day. Someone will say "yeah, but what about all those people that you pissed off and never said a word to you" they are not my market.
  5. you're a visionary, Josh...been watching your hunches all along, and gotta say, they are pretty much on target. what do you suppose will happen on that deadline week? sounds like many are going to wait until last minute, plus you have to add in 90% of the population that still does not know yet. oh, and thanks a bunch for that one "vision"......owe ya one on that.
  6. Josh, I had a few minutes of regret about pulling it all down, but not anymore. I did not even want to leave the stuff up in a magic box, because of what happened in January. Figured that the slow load times on the marketplace pages would contribute to some problems, even if continuing to use a magic box, and with sales every day, that means that you wake up every morning wondering if stuff worked. It's huge relief for a while, not to worry about it. So I guess I could say there IS a reason.... Are you sure the way the current system is acting, that a magic box will still work? Many have reported that their sales are way down. People were still telling me they were not able to purchase from my store when it was up (normally) about the time all this started, so every conversation was to clarify that it was not just my store, that there were issues across the board. I guess it depends upon how many hours a day each person has to handle all that.
  7. oh, don't you worry Gadget. A few here in forum have been a tad difficult in "communication", so I took some precautions, that might be considered "mute" as well. Works both ways, you know eta: cleaned up phrasing, so as not to go to time-out corner again
  8. Super and Arwen - maybe they will fix it on the Direct Delivery system - suspected that they did not want to attempt on the old system, since DD was on they way, and that's sort of fine (not really) but very disappointed to see all of the problems the last few days. Beyond not being reimbursed, it took massive amounts of time each day to contact each customer and figure out what happened - required several messages and notes back and forth, trying to figure out who actually paid, who got refunded, most customers could not really figure it out on their transaction list, nor did they want to spend time doing so, and filing a support ticket, was too much to ask of them - I HATE doing that, and will only do it if I'm really pissed that day. So beyond the fund collection issue, it was just a major time suck each day. Sorry you're having such a problem with that, hopefully that one will get fixed right away.
  9. hi Arwen - yeah, I know it is a different issue, just giving example of how they handled it. I recall that when it happened on Valentine's Day, that some reported being reimbursed. Guess it depends upon what day and who you know. just saying, think about it, if it happens all day long, and you are not in a position to give stuff away all day.
  10. sorry Super - went through that in January, with a stuck in "being delivered" phase on a large portion of sales, and lost a ton of income on it. I filed a support ticket to get paid, and here's what they did..... they told me to go to a Jira and describe the problem. So I did, along with some others, and it sounds like the others were given the same message, that to collect your funds, you had to go to that Jira. Then in the Jira they said that they cannot give us funds until they fix something. Huh? that's bull. I'll go find it for you. I reported only one loss, just to see if they would refund, was not going to go through a whole month of records and spend hours on that. Cannot get a refund for 10 bucks for 3 months, so glad I did not go through all of that work. That's one reason I pulled completely off of marketplace, because January was pure hell, with the same problem. You're going to have people here tell you to do this or that and that you are doing something wrong...... maybe, maybe not. but they have already said more or less that they are not refunding on the "being delivered" phase - just a heads up on that. here it is https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/WEB-4441 anyway, that's how they handled customer support on that - sent us to a cell in the basement and washed their hands of it.
  11. nothing listed in my marketplace store now, so can sell inworld at whatever price I want. it's on a slab, and some is free, the rest is cheap. messages of delight, but no messages of non-deliver. will go in and verify after work tonight.
  12. Although it was Josh's idea originally...brilliant. Common sense, yes, but still brilliant. Thank you. will send you a tip tonight.

Last night, I went to start a business that has been sitting in inventory, ready to go, that does not require massive amounts of land. Thought, heck. if I've got to reload everything, might as well rev up a new venture, then add the old one, once they let us have several stores. (whenever, that is) Setting that up, required a lot of purchases on the marketplace. Your store would have been a stop. Impossible. I'll try again next Friday night, and I'll try again, the following Friday night. Imagine that once all of the shop owners figure out how to start loading, the network will get backed up again. Who knows. Might get backed up again during that absolute deadline week. Who knows. Your customers are not going to come in here and tell you that. I wish you the best, and will try again, a few times, and your store will be first on the list, once we can shop again. /me smiles and tips his hat your way Well thank you, Miss Mickey! I know it's been a trial even getting pages to come up on the marketplace the past three days. Then I see Toy saying that his sales are better than they have been in a long time, and then someone else saying that they are seeing sales but they just WILL not go through. I know there's more at play here. Thanks for your tenacity! I hope someday you can actually pull up my store and if you see something you like/need, the transaction will actually go through. If for some crazy reason it doesn't, let me know and I'll take care of ya personally. Thank you again! :smileyvery-happy: you're very welcome, Marcus, appreciate the personal service and delivery the last time! sorry, could not leave review, because you hand delivered! next time, will leave reviews I've been watching people who do volume. Here, and on twitter. I pay attention to those who know how to market with social media, and those who do volume. Their story is not the same as Toy's. Will watch them for a while, and see how it plays out. eta: you know I like to chat. here's deal in somewhat of a nutshell: even with business removed during this time frame (not going to "pay" this time to watch a fiasco - although, did many times)..... I love playing in the virtual world, and just freed up time to play. 2nd or 3rd biz venture, still not doable, without being able to make quick purchases on marketplace. had a lot chosen in Costa Rica, so was going to go set the Villa up again, and play and build for a month. Can't even do that, since I can't buy pretty stuff on the marketplace. Can't even just set down a shell and fill with pretty stuff next week....could not get to a prefab page. Not going to pay for a lot, that I can't even slap a prefab on. heck, will build the dang thing myself. Nope, can't do that....need a dozen textures. Nope, not gonna shop inworld, that is drudgery to me, particularly for prefabs and textures....oh heck....just this one time! Nope....can't even get to a page to find their inworld store! ok, ok.....I'll use the dang inworld search, and try. I just want to have some fun while I wait for the fiasco to be over. O...M....G it sucks. Nevermind. Needless to say, that Costa Rica lot did not get purchased! That is a slightly more detailed "customer" view. They need to get this squared away asap, or there is going to be major trickle down. Just one little bitty trickle there.

Maybe I am a MP Contrarian but I was just validating what I was seeing lately and other the 22nd when I did not make 1 sale, my sales this past week including these two days since the cutover have been awesome! My sales seems to have gone back to the sales pace I was used to prior the August 1 2011 collapse when in the period of 1 day I noticed my sales drop by 50% only to recover partially by September. Now my sales have returned and (crossing fingers it will stay) exceeded old sales pace. Even with the MP moving at the speed of a glacier, I am getting sales on both my Magicbox and DD items (only had 3 sales on my DD items). My 6 main hottest selling packs are still on MagicBox and are now the only items in my MagicBox. The remaining items (about 35 MP listings) have been fully migrated to DD and a few sales have happened on them too. The reason I didnt move my main sellers is because I dont want to confuse the vast majority of my customers on the SL Grid that still have no clue that MP switched its delivery method from what they always knew to this new method. I will switch these main sellers in a couple weeks after the rumours spread throughout the grid that LL swapped out the MP delivery and my future customers have adopted to the new delivery. You're lucky, Toy and I'm glad your sales are back up to what they were before. But there are those of us out there (like me) who haven't had one single sale on the marketplace since direct delivery rolled out. 16. oh, apologies Ann, that was something I mentioned as an option, if some were not able to use any of the viewers. was not a conspiracy or union ball buster or mafia type related suggestion at all. more like an etsy circle or something - can you please replace visuals? cool
  17. thank you too, Czari - appreciate very much - will have to recommend not hanging in there, as well - it feels good
  18. spent the last year fighting, and can't afford to anymore. not going to take a guilt trip for stopping now. hundreds of hours. beyond the point of reason. financially, cannot at this time take on another fight. risked too much already, for no reason, and I'm just spelling it out, because I watch others do the same. apply a responsibility if you must, but I'm not buying into it this time. I suspect that as soon as this is up and running smoothly, that fees will kick into place, so not interested in sweating it out too much longer. I have requests running in several places for a tech person, which I will pay on my own time, to tweak the laptop. not going to risk another ban here, trying to make a point. you either get it, or you don't.
  19. it's not anger. it's heartbreak. you're not getting my point at all. it's about more than one person's laptop and specs. they were not prepared with info on this - read the impromptu Q and A - they plastered some stuff up there quickly, that does not even begin to answer all the questions here. and they even asked for another "resident" to supply a tpv list. BS. they need to take care of their "customers" and have that knowledge ready. tired of that BS. tired of watching them treat CUSTOMERS like afterthoughts. I'm not going to go round and round in here, like last month, and get kicked out again. I'll drop any info I get about alternative viewers. other than that, going to ride out marketplace and least get income for April, and others should too, up until the very last day, go ahead and get your sales, don't be foolish and give up a month of sales in frustration.
  20. Sassy - very general here - - Non-Geek aka Non-Tech (sorry if geek is not politically correct) - - laptop, desk top that is not "souped" up. I'm average user. It's not about "my" laptop. I'm following through as guinea pig and as example. it's about another segment being kicked in the gut yet again. it's about another group of people being shut out. there's no need for me to post specs. it's an asus gaming laptop that cost 2k I run 3 other online businesses on it, without a care in the world. I went through this last year, round and round, trying to get ANYONE to understand how F'd up viewer 2 was for someone on a laptop - spent days, hours, months Don't have that time this time around. sorry. will do what I can to find info on other options - but that's all can do this time around.
  21. you're able to load DD on the Cool viewer Deej? no one had mentioned that here, I don't think. friend on twitter asking about Snowglobe - do you know about that?
  22. I had the same folder, Dee - was excited to see it there! but it will not work. if I hear of anything changing on that, will let you know.
  23. which viewer are you using Dee? I was using Phoenix and there was no "Me" - they are not set up to allow for use with the marketplace direct delivery, as far as I can find out. (unless that changed today) - - There are a few other viewers which are not set up for the new direct delivery option. You can receive purchases, but cannot load to marketplace using dd.
  24. I downloaded Firestorm, so going from Phoenix functioning perfectly/beautifully on a laptop to a new viewer, Firestorm. It was revving so hot, not going to risk further. This is an asus laptop that was purchased specifically to keep the shop running last year, so it's not one without proper resources. I guess I'll assume that everyone who got their shops loaded on marketplace are sitting at a desk top and not mobile. I'll keep studying to see if we can come up with some alternatives for those who can't run V3 and Firestorm. Will definitely be pursuing some co-op opportunities on marketplace for those of us who might get wiped out. I have great sales there - so will pursue options until the last day. Hang in there laptop users!
