  1. Absolutely. I have had an annual premium account from the day I joined SL in 2005. One of the best investments I ever made. I have an account subscription that pays for itself, free land and access to sandboxes where I can build and test stuff undisturbed and live chat tech support. Works for me
  2. The objects never returned to my inventory and I've got the permissions for my objects and land locked down. That's what's puzzling me. I think I'll close my land and set it to group access only for a few months.
  3. Alwin certainly doesn't :-\ Now I've got someone or something deleting my group-set objects [that don't overhang the parcel boundary]. I guess my builds are deemed bad-taste garish crap or someone with hacking skills or Linden connections doesn't like me or something. Meh...
  4. Well, I did put in a ticket to buy some adjacent land when our allowances went up. And, yes, it went through. Thank you, LL. Much as I would love to be able to buy and maintain the abandoned land surrounding our parcel, I do not have the financial means to do so. So I'm surrounded by barren SL wasteland instead.
  5. Well, I do make use of mega prims on a tiny parcel but I haven't built a white spiky building.
  6. Wrt to Tari and Marianne's ideas for use of abandoned land, that's exactly what I did for several years. I and my group have a small parcel of land on the mainland (recently doubled in size thanks to the new land allowances). Our sim is 3/4 abandoned and LL maintenance land so, as you can imagine, it's very empty. For years I let my builds sprawl out across the abandoned land in order to fill up the empty space and make it look less deserted. Everything was fine for years until one day when I logged in January this year a few hours before I was due to due a live music show at our home venue to find Tommy Linden merrily deleting our Arctic Roundhouse venue. I got the obligatory 'items over the parcel lines' boilerplate and then, after a short conversation, he left. Since then I've stayed within my boundary lines but, boy, that sim sure looks empty. The only positive thing is that it's very low-lag thanks to the fact that it's so empty. There is land up for sale in sims adjacent to mine but all that seems to happen is that the land parcels bounce between land flippers.
  7. I'm similarly affected. Logging into the SL website is almost impossible. When I do finally get through it looks like an old HTML 1.0 wall of text 'n' links. Logging into SL itself fails and/or hangs indefinitely if I try using my computer [Windows 10 Pro] but strangely am able to log in using Lumiya on my android phone.
  8. I run the SL viewer on several computers with no problems at all. For technical reasons I usually bypass the SL launcher and just start up the viewer getting the 'no updates yada, tada' notice. On one machine I decided to launch the SL viewer as normal specifically to get the latest updates and.......... failed to execute script pyi_rth_pkgres So I uninstalled the viewer, deleted the cache, cleaned up the registry, rebooted, etc., etc., to no avail, The viewer only starts up when I bypass the viewer. A quick google tells me it's something to do with Python but that's as far as I understand. Any suggestions for a quick fix?
  9. Thank you for your replies. I'm trying to understand everything you said... it's a whole new set of concepts for me. I did upload my dae file as the physics model for the mesh model. It worked but ended up with a higher land impact than if I'd just used prims. I feel as if I'm at the foothills of a very long learning curve.
  10. Whoops. Should have put this in the mesh sub-forum. I noticed someone had a similar issue. Sounds like they've been able to resolve it. I haven't.
  11. I bought Naonao Watanabe's Mesh Generator and it's quite easy to use. However I've come up against a problem. I made a building shell with doorways but I cannot enter through the openings of the mesh object even though they're just open entrances. I've tried all sorts of different options on the mesh import thingy but none of the options made any difference. I know about the convex hull issue with cut & hollowed prims but even when I set the mesh object to 'prim' I still can't walk in. It's as if there's an invisible wall blocking the entrances. I have absolutely no graphics skills. I opened the dae file in Blender and can't figure out how to do anything with it. That's why I thought the Prim-to-Mesh converter would be a go-to option for me. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can send a copy of the mesh object as an example to anyone who wants to examine it. As you can see in the picture, the doorway is wide open yet impossible to enter. At best you end up walking on to the roof.
  12. There are other doors I have a few guitars too.
  13. OK, I'll bite.... here's the old home rig. It's and old Gateway 2000 case with it's Pentium II sticker still on the case. Inside it's an i7 4790, 12GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX 660. I use a 120GB SSD for my system and a 2TB HDD for data. Works for me O/S is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. That's Cubase Pro 9 on the main monitor and SL on the secondary monitor.
  14. Does anyone know where I can get some decent keyboard animations for our keyboardist? We have decent animations for myself [guitarist], our bassist and drummer but our keyboardist has been using the same ho-hum animation for 10 years. What would be nice would something live action-ish maybe even including things like the Keith Emerson knife throwing and organ-wrestling routines. I've looked around but all I could find was a few-ready made keyboards with one or two preset animations that I have considered buying and then ripping the animations and putting them in the keyboard rig I built.
  15. Looks like someone even went and updated the Wingless Emoto avatarswith alpha layers to replace the old invisiprims: Wingless Emoto Avatars Ver 2.2 - Full Perms
  16. If you can't sell your current land, then contact the seller of the land you want to buy and see if they're amenable to a swap deal. FWIW, I've been surrounded by abandoned land on all sides for years and it's been quite a gift for me as I have a tendency to build large, sprawling projects that spread out over my meagre parcel boundaries. The few neighbours that I do have come from very different time zones than I do in RL so our paths rarely cross. So: 1] Having abandoned land around you can be a blessing. You can build big and push out over your parcel limits [so long as you remember to anchor the root prims on your parcel] and no-one's going to complain. 2] Remember that people from all over the world use Second Life. Not everyone will come from a time zone that overlaps with yours. I frequent some very popular RP regions that are often close to deserted when I visit simply because the bulk of their userbase / membership come from timezones far removed from mine.
  17. Thank you to eveyone who has commented and thrown their ideas and suggestions into the pot.
  18. I've just removed all my duplicate calling cards I hope it makes a difference. BTW, have you ever noticed how they seen to keep reproducing in your inventory? Mine do. I have culled duplicates before and they keep coming back.
  19. Hi! One of the reasons I clear my cache frequently is that on my main account my main avatar is a Dark Spots Designs dragon and for some unknown reason one of my lower legs occasionally attaches itself to some point that is way to one side of my leg. No idea why but cache clearing does fix it. The new Bento feature 'reset skeleton' doesn't fix it either. I do have 20 alts that never have any inventory problems. Their inventories range from less than 10k items to 30k items. It's just my main account [this one] that is affected. FWIW, my main account inventory is in the 50k - 55k items range. I was never a big fan of cache clearing but at the moment, it's the only 'fix' I can find for ongoing avatar issues. One of my alts also has a Dark Spots Designs dragon avatar and has never had the 'broken' leg' problem. I have no idea why it happens. If their was another less drastic fix, I'd love to know what it is.
  20. True but those li'l links do seem to count as items on some level as my avatar stays in cloud shape until the last darned link is added to my inventory when it's being rebuilt after clearing the cache. I guess I'll have to be a lot more aggressive when it comes to boxing up old stuff.
  21. My inventory suffers from extreme bloat to the point that when I have to clear my cache I might as well order a pizza and wait while my inventory rebuilds.... it's that slow. Never mind how long it takes to rez items. I'm desperate to slim down my inventory in order to speed things up a bit. So I had a look into My Outfits folder which must take up about 1/3 of my inventory items. So I thought: 'Why not box up some of my old outfits?' But when I tried to copy / move the outfit links into a prim all I got was the bad old 'No Entry' sign. Same with my attempt to drag them into a notecard. I assume that's to stop us sharing outfits with other people in order to safeguard content creator IP rights. I can understand that. When I move a no-copy, no-transfer item into a fresh prim it automatically takes on those properties and I can't give it to anyone. Not that I'd want to. It would go straight back into my inventory or else stuck in a storage box buried under my land. But at least I would still be to access those items at a later date even if the proces is a cumbersome and clunky. So why can't we move our outfit links into a prim for storage purposes? I know some people would suggest to just delete the old outfits if you don't wear them any longer. I've done that with loads of them as well as deleting shedloads of old stuff in my inventory that I'm never going to use. But I'd like to keep some of the old outfits just because they're either quirky or else so craptastically hideous I want to save them for those parties where we wheel out our old avatars and outfits that we thought were so great at the time and have a good old laugh and cringe. I suppose I could trim my inventory down by just keeping a base avatar outfit in the 'My Outfits' folder and then add/remove clothes as I go along but that defeats the purpose of the Outfits folder [as far as I can see]. I have a varied collection of avatars and outfits and I have got used to be able to change appearance and outfits quickly without having to spend anything up to half an hour at a time faffing around in my inventory looking for stuff. So, to wrap this up, I'd like to call out to Linden Lab to consider adding some sort of archiving feature to our inventories if it's technically possible.
