TW: transphobia. A car? Are you looking at a different av than me? I usually have a Sphynx cat head, human or anime. The whole situation started when I TP'd in and hadn't rezzed, and was immediately bombarded with "that man who thinks he's a woman" in voice. Followed by some other things not allowed per LL's TOS so I'm not going to repeat them here. As for the staff having LGBT members, this does absolutely nothing to alleviate my concerns as transphobia is not exclusive to outside ourcommunity and still remains a huge issue.  Anyways, I resent the implication that potentially attaching an object to your head should mean your identity be questioned and be verbally harassed. If you'd like the name of the London mod, as well as a screenshot of his message, I'd be more than happy to provide it in game. I have already provided what I have to Linden Labs.

Requested a screenshot so I can delve further.

  2. Considering over half the of the team fit into the category of LGBT and that there are several Trans people on the team, what you are saying is eye popping.    If you are accusing us of levity and frivolity then we're probably guilty as charged.    Trick is to see the lighter side of life whenever possible.   Sorry if you expected everything to be deadly serious upon your visit..  but we are happy people, celebrating our Pride..  and being  a gay owned estate for 13 years with a huge amount of LGBT visitors, I'm surprised you were offended upon your visit.

I see that on your last visit you were wearing a car on your head.  Could that have anything to do with your gripe?

    Cheers,  Torric.

I'm sorry that happened to you.  All of the "newcomer friendly" places in the Destination Guide (well, pretty much ALL places in SL!) are owned and run by Residents, with little or no oversight from Linden Lab. The ones I belong to do try to ensure that their people are friendly, helpful, experienced, and not too quick on the ban-hammer, but people are people.  A snip like your "what happens if I don't, huh?" can be quite likely to irritate an overworked, unpaid helper person. The thing is, that a lot of people who act like that ARE trouble-makers and SHOULD be booted, and the helpers know this from unfortunate experience.

The Golden Rule in SL is "She Who Owns the Land, Makes the Rules". Everyone on resident-owned land (which is pretty much everyplace) is there on the land owner's sufferance. The owner, or her designated agents, can ban you at any time for any reason, or even no reason at all. What this means is, you'd better be polite to people.

So...welcome (back) to SL. Try some of the other Newcomer Friendly destinations before you decide that the world is full of unfriendly people, and keep the Golden Rule in mind!

It is always unfortunate when an Alt with an axe to grind comes looking for a bad experience and then edits events to fit their agenda.

  4. How about a hover text:  Current Prize is:   "whatever"  .. up to the user if they pay 50L for what is shown.

They may have to play umpteen times until the prize they want comes up..  but you could never say it was random, since the resident would know exactly what they were purchasing each time they pay the machine.

  5. I predict that people will change their machines to show the next 5 or 6 prizes in sequence, meaning that you have to pay the Gacha a known amount of times to get the big prize, or elect not to play at all if the prize you want is not shown.

If you knew the sequence of prizes, would this obviates the 'random chance' element and therefore make it 'legal'?

Furthermore if you display the next 5 prizes only and the big prize is actually 20 turns away, you could still say that those buying the 5 on display, still knew exactly what they were buying.  Thus its no longer a game of chance.

Actually you could just show the 'now' and 'next' prize in a hover text..  up to the resident if they want to buy it, and move ever closer to the big prize?

    Would that be a solution?

I'm devastated. I just got banned from London City for 8650 minutes.

    rest of rant deleted....

I've decided not to let it bother me. There is nothing I can do about it, which is the hurting part. I still don't know why I was banned - I've decided it was probably because I was wearing an unfashionable avatar.

Hand's up, we got it wrong, and we have since spoken.   Hope all is well.

  7. Given the surge of SL during covid and the forthcoming uplift to the cloud, it is likely that it's success has piqued the interest of investors; especially as it bucks the trend where multiple other similar platforms have failed.  This could be a good thing in terms of growth.   First order of business however, is usually to restructure, which obviously causes some turbulence.

Clearly they didn't want Sansar in this package, hence it got offloaded.

  8. Paying Premium annually gives a cash injection to the Lab for all these goodies.

No one willingly wants to pay more for anything ever, but being realistic, if we want the infrastructure to continually improve, we have to pay our hosts to do it.

And to the basic account users who see themselves as paying their way from Market Place purchases,  yes this is still revenue you pay to the lab, but Premium accounts also make Market Place purchases too!

  9. Hi,

Nudity is permitted in our Adult region London City3, "Victoria".

When leaving this region you will see signs, "no nudity beyond this point", since the other 3 regions are for general community and are not designated as adult.

More info is available on our blog http://mainlandlondon.blogspot.co.uk and you can ask questions that are London City specific by using the Support tab.

    kind regards,
