  1. Thanks for that clarification. This explains why the "fix" wasn't applied to the homes. Is this the same thing as when I edit a prim and under 'Physics Shape Type' pick 'none'? EDIT: Apparently not. I've got the rugs in my stilt home set this way, and I can still click to walk to a spot on them and double click to TP onto them.
  2. Click to move and key movement are both standard methods in any 3D world environment. And both are standard in SL. So making buildings that disable one of the standard methods of movement is... unfortunate. I get why they did it, but it's not a minor issue. If setting a prim to have click action none is newer than these homes (I thought it was older, guess I was wrong there) - then that would mean we may have a fix. A fix for a major usability issue like this is one that should be implemented. This applies to victorian, log, and stilt homes, and I suspect whatever else going forward.
  3. This is a really nice looking brand. They have a very dark tone available too. Reminiscent of the darker tones Angel Rock has. I find most brands have something they call their darkest that looks almost 'white chocolate' to my eyes, so it's always nice to find a brand that when it says it has African skins, has a full range of tones and isn't promoting colorism. Demoing everything from these folks to see if one of them is a fit for me.
  4. I'm not a fan of it but I went round the discussion with the moles on this twice and was satisfied with the answer. Yes I can make items in a linkset tnot respond to touch IF the root prim does NOT respond to touch. But I guess things got weird with responsiveness and physics when that was tried. In the end I bought a set of mesh rugs that I linked together - resulting in a nice visual for very low land impact. A visual I would have wanted anyway (and in fact ended up adding to my older houseboats that doesn't have this tough issue).
  5. If you ask they will tell you the stuff is still in active development. But every update from Belleza tends to take years. This time around... more is needed than just a BOM button and neck fix - more than I suspect they will be willing to do. Belleza's body's are very high polygon. Jake is not as much of an offender as the female bodies - but this issue remains. For a while this was fine because Maitreya used to be about 2-3 times the polygons it is now. Technically even Maitreya is a lag beast, 10x or so the polygons it should have... but it's also dramatically less so than either Belleza or Legacy. Likewise for Gianni - technically they are about 10x the polygons they should be, but that's still much lower than Legacy... The "proof" that these bodies could be lower polygons is found in 'Regalia' which is a 'combo pack of mesh bodies that can wear clothes from all major human female bodies, and comes in at around 30,000 or so polygons - while having the same physics / animations / fit of the human bodies. The problem is that the feet end in paws... it's a furry body for furries that want to buy human clothing. Belleza needs a skilled 3D modeler to remake it at a lower polygon count. Or just hire the maker of Regalia... Jake also needs script help - people keep noting that the hands keep turning off bento animations... This fix is actually super easy. If the body was mod I could fix it myself pretty quickly. Just have to find where in the script the animations are controlled and change how they load. I suspect something in the timer is asking the avatar to 'reset' and 'turn off' animations... to turn off it's custom hand poses... but is doing it to all animations and not just looking for it's own... - That's been the number one complaint about Jake for years, the fix is trivially easy, but it's not been made. I suspect the brand owner hired a scripter, and got back a no-mod script they can't edit themselves... I absolutely love the look of Belleza Freya, but I stopped using it due to lag. One Belleza female on your sim is like having 5 people wearing maitreya visit... or about 20 people wearing Regalia... and yes, that's not a typo... One Belleza visitor is like maybe 40-80 '2003' era avatars... (one Maitreya visitor though, is like 8-16 'classic' avatars... which is still not a good thing, but it's a big difference between that and Belleza). ... and note that Legacy, both male and female - are very close to Belleza in terms of polygon count lag. And I believe their scripts are also not ideal. Maitreya's current scripts are very light weight, and when you 'delete' them, they actually go away... (there's a LOT of 'delete script' buttons on HUDS out there that don't actually do anything, or only delete part of the scripts. But Maitreya's actually work)... Gianni... I need to look at the scripts again. Last time I looked, I came away without feeling any red flags... but I don't recall what I thought about it. It's certainly better than Jake or Legacy though.
  6. Finding issue. I find it's very hard to fine African female skins. I use search and 90% of what comes back is people 'gaming' the keywords to make their stuff show even if it has nothing to do with what I want. When what you want is a Caucasian skin that usually still returns a list of relevant things, but anytime I go off of that - I basically get 89 pages of blond white female to every 1 page of African... when I search for African... (not an exact example... but things like this happen often). So I mention what I have found. And thanks for one more to go look at that I hadn't heard of yet.
  7. FINALLY tossed back the fishtown one. Just made the call that yeah, it was held by an alt. Already been claimed.
  8. I am, annoyingly, still on the fence... The problem with picking is also the problem with keeping one - too similar. Either one of them is the perfect spot I was hoping to get. That I somehow got both right around the same time was a completely shocking surprise.
  9. Oh I didn't realize the croc was making noise... I should disable that... I probably set that ages ago and forgot about it. If the land's keeping sound inside the plot it wouldn't matter but if the land's set to broadcast then it would be a nuissance I need to fix. 😮
  10. A year and almost 3 months... And I am still sitting on these 2 plots and unable to decide. Fishtown: + Great open access for both sailing and views + Very quiet area, mild neighbors - this can change of course + More interesting things nearby. The lighthouse and of course Mordor (that giant linden island north of here)... 😉 - There are 2 G-rated regions of water withing a region's distance. Keep in mind I'm an SL-nudist so, actually, I can't sail north-east of here. - An alt owns this. That means if I toss it, I can casually look for a new spot until the account bill comes up and then take whichever alt has the 'worst spot' back to basic. - I spend less time in this one. But maybe that's just because the alt owns it? Coral Bay: + Great view to the south with wide open sailing in all M regions. + Cute sheltered hill around me. I'm in a small bay. + My swampy build fits in. But am I crowding myself. - My neighbor feels a bit "too close". This has been true both when I like and when I dislike their builds - so it's just the distance that bugs me. - One neighbor nearby has a wall that is maybe 1% transparent. Result is windlight gets confused if I look in that direction. - If I toss this one, then my 'main' will be in that mode where "I MUST HAVE A SPOT NOW !!!" and I will either go nuts looking or trying to buy 1024m of land "somewhere" because the number on 'tier available' won't be 0 and OCD takes over... I'm pretty much 100% sure that the moment I make a choice, regardless of which, I will regret it... but it's pretty stupid of me that I've held on to both for so long...
  11. Add me to that list. The polygon count on Legacy is some few gazillion. Both the male and female bodies are insane lag beasts. Female Belleza is worse in terms of lag though. Jake on the other hand is not bad... BUT, the neck seam no longer fits "current" mesh heads. Gianni is "relatively" low lag. Rather it's much lower than the other options. It also has decent support, and the neck seam fits current heads. Signature has two male mesh bodies, but the other one, for some reason, has vastly lower support. I like the look of the other one more, but for my male alt I still got Gianni for the support.
  12. If you use a Catwa or Genus head (as the thread title notes is the case) there is also Angel Rock. They offer the darkest skin tones of anyone I've yet to discover, but also range out to much lighter tones. Sadly they don't yet support Lelutka (what I use) for any of their African skins. Lelutka used to make 'nordic only' heads, but now makes the most 'authentic looking diverse' range of heads of anyone I've yet to find. But it looks like Angel Rock isn't yet aware of that - the only Lelutka skins they offer are modeled on the pre-Evo heads in the adverts.
  13. If you just want a larger bosom, there's an 'addon' for maitreya called 'Proud Girls' that can be dialed anywhere from 'reasonable' to 'crazy large' but has a closer to natural form to it - they don't stick out like rockets aimed at the moon. Dialed down right, it can look almost natural. But you won't be able to get much clothing for it... I think the entire list of things made for it take up a page or two at most of marketplace. There's also some addons for belleza freya, but these all suffer from rocket ship issues. Now that Maitreya has made 2 addons for smaller sized chests, I really wish they would do one for larger chests - the default maitreya still feels about 10-20% too small when dialed to 100... We aren't all built like a 17-year old skinny runway model after all. If we had something "official" merchants might support it... It's always the extremes though, when you start to ask for large, you get weather ballons strapped to the front of your avatar. That IS the look I now sport, but it's half for comedic value as my personal 'silent protest' over not being able to find something just reasonably a little more. If they're only gonna give me rockets, I'm going for the full ICBM. Likewise I would like a larger rear in an a body, but not THAT large. These bodies look less like they were made to allow for curvy or African bodies, and more like they were made to make fun of such bodies...
  14. As far as intimate anatomy is concerned, Sensations is who I would STILL go for. Very top quality, now works for most bodies, and is natively BOM. And it DOES support Freya. That was the second body Sensations added to it's now rather long list. It's the only brand I've found where the anatomy can 'spread' enough to fit male anatomy perfectly for explicit images without needing careful camera angles, and it 'hides' the body underneath so that it can be used for a variety of 'exposing' imagery.
  15. Because when I flipped on my TV this morning this one popped up. So. Now we move forward.
  16. That's just it. It's another one of these 'isms'. They all deal in 'Utopian absolutes'. We need to stop the oppressors, ALL of them... so stop the people oppressing the oppressors, and stop the people oppressing those who can pay to exploit everyone... and... no checks or balance - extremism rules again. Society works best when there is a balance of things.
  17. Libertarianism sufers from the same problem as all the other isms. Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, Monarchism, Fascism, etcism... They sound great when you're a couple of lads in a coffee shop in Paris at university... But when you put them into real life you get Mao, Cambodia, Nazi Germany, Stalin, Venezuela, Caligula, even the way the Aztecs took over the Toltec coalition, and so many other examples throughout thousands of years of human history. Anytime there is a system not DESIGNED to presume corruption and then check it, you end up with a horror show. The US system has an amazing amount of flaws, but the one thing those "slave owning keep a woman chained for life to a bed in a little closet hidden behind your bed rapists" we call founders got right was that they assumed every other person in that room was a corrupt evil bastard and so they needed a way to check the daggers at the door. They just never considered that one single evil bastard would ever manage to get his tiny watersport loving hands on all three branches at the exact same time... The biggest problems of nearly all 'isms' comes down to a lack of 'details' combined with a lack of 'internal oversight'. You just come up with a grand utopian proclamation of 'if we just got rid of everything stopping ---> THIS HERE <---, then me and the lads could create a perfect society and being as we're good chaps, nothing would go wrong. And then Lenin gets shot by his hommies... and it all goes the way of history. Again... Cause some folks just never learn...
  18. SL isn't a private sponser of terrorism, so I don't think it's at much risk.
  19. Is there still a lot of it left to be released, or has most of it gone out already?
  20. Generally no. A few brands have tried to impliment things like this, but if brand A does it one way, brand B another, and brands C-Z ignore it or decide it's too much scripting to deal with - then the results will be all over the place. You can literally rez a single blank prim, and if you put a top brand's sailing engine into it - it will be a wonderful sailing experience, minus seeing the animation of sails moving and such... 😉
  21. There's no covenant for what people can rez alpng the coasts of Blake Sea's mainland portions. So what they have rezzed is often amazingly ugly. Giant prim walls, mis-aligned builds, multi-story airports blocking the view of everything around, security orbs and banlines, glowy things, and basically every kind of horrendous build one can imagine. - All perfectly within the rules of there being more or less no rules. Regulation, such as the Bellisseria covenant, is important. It gives people a common understanding and "keeps the peace". In this context it helps keep a theme going, makes regions sailable even if you accidentally cross a property line for a few moments because of lag or difficult steering or region crossing, helps reduce lag, and helps avoid drama. ps: There is even one region that is private owned that forms the connection between the extreme north end of Blake Sea and another mainland continent - and for most years of it's existence the entire sim has blocked public access, slicing the ocean in half. Every now and then someone rents it and sets it open, and I think that might the case currently, but for most years it's been a blocker. For added context, the area of extreme South Bellisseria where it meets the mainland continent south of it used to have a lot of gaps and blocked off points - that southern continent was poor for sailing despite a large inside sea because you couldn't even reach the north of that very continent. When they connected it to Bellisseria they filled in all the gaps and it's not got nicer sailing from there all the way up through Bellisseria than Blake Sea - because you entire journey up is through regions with rules about what can be rezzed out in public and how access can/cannot be blocked.
  22. Yeah. I've got an amazing spot with my houseboat that I managed to get just over a year ago. It faces onto multiple regions of ocean that are old established regions and form a bridge between it and old mainland. That makes me super picky. But it's also what anyone into sailing wants - room to go about. Blake Sea is a disappointment because of the unregulated coastline. I did pick up a stilt yesterday with an alt. Now I've got 30 days to decide on keeping it and tossing one of my old plots back, or tossing it back instead. Most of these are from the 'Bandit' shop. There's one in the background that you can barely see that is a tiny 'Dolphin Moth Mini'. Bandit really does have the best sailing system in SL in my opinion. It just... works... the way I'd want it to.
  23. I have a freebie script I give out that is a 'perm rezzer' - it will rez an object to a location, and then scans once every 3 minutes and if it cannot find the object withing so many meters, rezzes it to that location. - this lets me drive or sail away and my vehicle pops back into place in the parked spot. The only perms needed on the vehicle are 'copy' as the coordinates of where to rez are stored in the description field of the prim you place the rez script in. Looking something like this: [sau]Raven[1.13] (-0.05975,-0.42911,0.64551) 0.35:358.95:90.7" - That is basically how I have it remember which object in it's inventory to rez, how far from itself to rez it, and at what angle to set to object. I give the script away for free, and it's mod so people can see and edit the code as well. This is why on land I own I often leave a pile of land vehicles 'unlocked' for people to drive off with. Now if I could just find a good quality sail boat that I could set to be usable by anyone. All the ones I own can only be sailed by the owner.
  24. I actually passed on getting a stilt when I didn't see any open water regions around them. Is that expected to change?
