So in the end, even if your channel is figured out...the person attempting to spoof something on your channel will have to know your encryption key...AND your digital signature before anything can happen...and there's way to even further secure it fi you're really super concerned.

Yes, except that in this case it's texture UUID's which are the data and are very kindly yielded trivially by finding stuff in the texture cache so all this effort inworld is completely defeated by the viewer. :)

My thaught on this is this. There is a dwendling amount of decent free things that are NOT demos. Used to be tons of free stuff on SL when I was new. Now mostly you find demos. When someone is new to sl they cant aford to buy anything so they rely on what they can find. NOT EVERYONE has L$ on SL.

I do have sympathy with this because like most people I started with L$0 but also realise that the expectation is "decent" and "free" and are two words that don't necessarily go together.  The amount of effort to create mesh clothing from scratch (not texture pre-created templates) is many hours of work.  You can understand why creators would want to recoup something in return for that effort.

Items that are given away are done so for various reasons but they are given by other people, it's not as if LL are sitting around creating free content to draw people in.

Makes sense since TPV's have offered it for a long long time.

I apprciate the suggestions. but it is not what i am trying to do. the user MUST be able to edit script B(my original example). appliers do this very thing.

Why can you not just pass the values into the script via a notecard?

  5. Which is the way that appliers tend to work.  They have a notecard which is read by the script, the script will then read in the UUID's and delete the notecard.  Don't reset the script.

If the script does get reset then the customer just rezzes another applier, it's not a problem.

If this really needs to go via link messages or other comms channels, no reason to not pass any or all of them in one call, just delimit them and parse them back out at the receiving end.

  6. In addition to what Rolig has said, one slight change, if the user has to provide something on a chat channel, it needs to be a positive number.

If the user is providing input via chat then it makes sense that the channel will be fairly simple and thus a low number.  In this instance, it's trivial to run a script that creates tens of thousands of listeners to pick up low channels and they're readily available.

If that's the case, then it's not the channel that needs to be hidden but the content within the channel.  Look to encrypt the data, then knowledge of the channel itself becomes somewhat useless.

In all cases, the scripts themselves would need to be no mod otherwise it's just a free for all and no, you cannot hide a channel.

you could be banned from the marketplace store if/when the owner notices.

Not a feature of Marketplace.  No ability to ban.

The failure is really with the demo in running multiple times.  Yes, it's more work to make it run only once but that's just the way it is, if you want to protect stuff, you do it properly.

  8. No.

This has been asked several times before and you'll find the previous discussions in search results.

There are Android apps from third parties, the other option you have on iStuff is to remotely control a viewer elsewhere but LL don't appear to have any plans (nor would I expect them to have) for a mobile client.

I am new at giving gifts and I just bought a whole outfit for a friend. The items ended up in my Inventory and since the clothes are for a woman, and I am a man, I have no use for them. I just want to give them to this friend. But I'm afraid that since the clothing properties are not set for "transfer", I am stuck with them forever. Is that correct?

You are not stuck with them as such, they are just ready in your inventory for that moment when you want to enter into a drag contest or similar.

In the mean time, just contact the merchant.  Any sensible, reasonable and clueful merchant will understand that they're not your clothing of choice and be happy to refund.

I have a wall of shame of pics of guys who accidentally purchase one of my skirts and I had it as a fun requirement that for a refund, they send me a pic for the wall of them wearing it.  Most would be happy to take part, for those that didn't, no problem anyway. *shrugs*

  10. Well, mesh clothes (or parts of) can be hidden, if they're modify permission and the creator provides the texture for editing or if they provide groups of faces that can be hidden by manual edit or a provided HUD.

  11. Hmm, I'm not convinced here. Is there a reference that cites this because even the most basic junior db programmer knows to use unique keys and the most obvious unique key is the UUID.

Throw in the fact that LL can and do change people's names under certain circumstances and that kills the comment about things and transactions being referenced by username.

  12. I'm surprised that it's way faster for you to have a customer send you something than find the sales record. That sounds like the vending system that needs a different user interface.

I would always rather find the sales record myself, it's faster by a long way for me.

If someone pops open my IM, I've got their full sales history up before they've finished typing.

  13. I'm curious, what do you feel you're not getting with the product you have?

We're you aware of its so called beta status when you purchased it?

What conditions were attached when you purchased? I.e. was there a promise that within a certain timespan, a particular set of features which would be described as "final" would be released?

Why is the merchant considered "unscrupulous"?

Do you understand the terms that you signed up to, specifically concerning LL's position on resident to resident transactions?

The animations are in the ball, but nothing comes up for the dances; you can't check the scripts and so effectively you have bought a ball that spins for a tun load of money.

It's not the end of the world.  Take the animations out and put them in another dance system.

A dance system will cost around L$2000 to L$2500 bare without animations so yes, it's more L$ but the real value is in the animations which you can still use.

It means that build is not available inworld. I think it is obvious otherwise I would not ask.
    ;)

Nope, not obvious.  There are plenty of people who do not know how to find things using search, how to right click and inspect, how to enumerate a linkset and so much more.

In other words, I don't assume that anything is obvious.
