If I were a Linden, I'd be reserving those abandoned parcels for Protected Parcel status to extend the road, while keeping an eye on the other neighbouring parcels for the future too.

Here are some things we know.

    • Part of the plan for Belli seems to be to link up continents in sailable, and sometimes drivable, ways.
    • Having gotten this close, it REALLY looks like some sort of new link will be happening between the Ranches and Sansara.
    • THEY ALREADY KNOW HOW THEY'RE DOING IT.

So, while speculating about how they're going to do it is fun, and certainly we all can express HOPES for how they're going to do it, I don't think we need to tell  them which parcels they should watch.  Certainly Abnor, and probably Lindens in governance, and miscellaneous moles who are explorers, have cased all the possibilities long ago.  My attitude about intercontinental links is "Surprise us!".

So, all I have to do is get a group together with all the skills needed for putting on a big event, make a plan together, settle the logistics, write it all up, take it to the Lab, and pitch the idea.

Well, this thread has been cleaned up quite a bit, but suffice it to say that some people who assembled competent teams and spent many hours developing projects to benefit communities within SL have found it less easy than others to "take it to the lab".  But certainly Cinnamon is giving great advice when she recommends soliciting LL's support earlier, rather than later, when developing large projects.

And of course, keep in mind that things change, and one's efforts can become obsolete should the lab change directions, as private estate owners have discovered many times.

The best reason to embark on time-consuming projects within SL is because you enjoy the effort for its own sake.

The only news I have seen from a Linden or Mole is this thread requesting participation.

? Isn't the Belli anniversary usually a resident-sponsored event at the Fairgrounds?  Or am I remembering wrong?

Fwiw, the SSPBAx regions have been under active development (someone there every day) for at least two months.  Hard for me to believe that's all Mole activity.  Maybe watch for a notice in Belli Citizens Group?

Let's remember that the Moles and Lindens have other inworld activities to attend to, not just Belli.  Possibly some involvement with the recent VWEC (virtual educators) conference, etc..

Interesting graphic in the Med rez zones... after studying it awhile, I concluded that it is a top-down view of a Segway type vehicle with one wheel and mirrors.

I believe it's a Vespa!  Btw, there are now rez zones that extend into the water in Easy Tide and Burgee .

I wish the bridges throughout the fantasy region would either 'auto raise' when a vehicle passed through some 'collision prim' in the water a bit of a distance from them, lowering shortly after - or had a thing to 'tap' that would raise them (I think Bay City has this if I remember right).

I take care of this by making my boat phantom.  You'll still collide with a low bridge if your seat is high up in the boat, but generally that's not the case.

It sort of does, at the train station of the Linden Homes demo region at the newbie welcome hub has a P.A.T (personal automated transport) rezzer. it will take you through a tour of some of the Log District to another newbie/demo pair of regions. It would be nice if there were more of those or even the mainland pod tours going to the community regions and significant points of interest in Bellisseria

I hate the pods, endlessly cycling with no one in them, they just make mainland feel incredibly empty to me.  Plus they're kind of ugly.  Btw, there's also a mole ferry  running between the Bellisseria Fairgrounds dock to nearby regions.

I DO like the idea of ON-CALL ferries of all kinds.  I tend to put up ferries whenever I can - in fact, right outside my home in Sakura there's a signboard offering two ferries: one running to the lovely Shobu community center, and the other to the surfing beach at the community center for the stilts.   http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Shiawasena Itachi/173/66/23

You are of course also welcome to wander through my home there as well.  Note that if you cam up some from this landing spot, you'll also see Mount Sojisan, which offers sledding.  It's actually a short walk away.  I'll be adding more ferries if I have time.

Note, also, that if you put a train in cruise mode, it's very much like a ferry.  Pick up a good freebie train, and maybe start at the station in Axminster  (the moles have put a really nice Visitor's Center there that shows you the various places you can get to via train).  The run through Logland all the way to Bridle Path is beautiful.

I think that it would be cool if the moles provided ferries on demand between each of the Community Centers.  I'd be willing to BECOME a mole, lol, to do that for them.

  7. Today I boated through the Meds, from Reine de Mer all the way up to Chataigne.  It's a beautiful ride, the homes very stately along the riverbanks.  There are a few very low bridges, and a sharp turn here and there, but if you take a small boat (or gondala!), totally easy ride.

Up in the SSP zone, the only activity I've seen lately has been in SSPConspiracy III and QA Vault - this continues to make me think that a new home style is in the works, tho whether it would be for a new theme or to add to an existing theme, I have no idea.  I still see no signs of new theme regions in development.

And there still is a LOT of coastline to finish in Belli!

ETA: BTW, the moles will undoubtedly be putting rez zones along the water as they work on Med coastlines, but if you would like to rez a boat near Typhoon before they do, you can do so at my parcel named Lemon Grove, in the SW corner of Reine de Mer, next to the waterfall.  It's an easy edit to the water, a corner of which is actually in Reine de Mer.  If you like, while you're there you can also pick up my souped-up freebie taxi, in a box on the front patio of the house.

I love how when you change the wall colour in your Belli house it gives you the RGB values so you can tint your own wall panels to match.

Yes, it's really handy.  The first Belli homes did not have that feature, or the "My Colors" ability to define your own wall colors.  Those additions are fruits of one of the two big Linden/Mole attitude adjustments that seem to me to distinguish Belli from the previous Linden Homes - they watched what residents did to the original homes, and added features to make the homes even more appealing.  I bet that seeing Traditional homes extensively modified with add-ons did not delight their original designers; but their team adapted quickly and provided features that facilitated modifications, including providing interior wall segments and doors.

To me, the other huge attitude adjustment I saw Belli was LL's recognition of COMMUNITY as a driving factor in residents' enjoyment of SL, and active facilitation of resident interactions to build community.

A great place to put praise of specific Mole &/or LL efforts is:

Darn was decorating decorating and I realized the house is only 3 rooms, and I need 4, perhaps the other 512 versions have a 4th room 😁

Either that or put a porta potty in the front yard. 😂

Also, there are a ton of add-ons, both interior and exterior, for various Belli home styles - check the marketplace.

I think the threshold for political ”activity”is very low in Bellisseria. BDSM is okay But when I put mr Putin (with clothes on) in a jail inside my house (not locked) i was reported and had to let him go, sadly. We all know How that went… 😉

I was your neighbor at the time, and I loved that ... embassy!  I was tempted to lodge a protest to LL when it was taken down, and I wish I had. 😠

  11. /me peers eastward from Reine de Mer and WOW!  The Med coastline so far is really really nice!  All homesteads, already with some nice geographical details.  And it looks like there may be a ring road going through long stretches of it.  Sweet!

/me makes a note to pick up a nice picnic lunch basket.

Fingers crossed for a homestead south of me that extends this lovely coast west of Typhoon as well!  Maybe I could leave up my lighthouse then!  (Unless an LL one shows up someplace near, which would be even betterer.)

On second thought “this property secured by smith and wesson” is probably a bad idea since it would most likely be considered “political advertising” by the LL worthies

On the other hand “ban all guns now” would probably be just fine.

It all depends on which side of the fence the sign is 😂

I don't believe LL would consider your "Smith & Wesson" sign political advertising; they would probably regard it as just part of a campy RP.  Just don't use S&W logos or other intellectual property.

"Ban all guns now" is indeed a political statement, I don't see why you say it wouldn't be.  Although a single sign saying that would probably not be deemed worthy of attention.  Really, the problem is with ostentatious political activity, e.g. parcels bristling with campaign signs.  Those tend to cause conflicts, resulting in lots of support tickets.

It's true that nudity is permitted on Moderate regions and that Bellisseria is Moderate. Nude beaches, strip clubs, and "sky-clad" rituals are all permitted in Moderate regions, unless the region owner says otherwise.

Exactly.  I don't see anything in Belli's covenant pertaining to personal conduct, so I assume the rules re: nudity are the same as they are in any Moderate region.  Ergo, tanning nude on your property is fine.  I don't know how you may have gathered the impression that it would not be - unless perhaps in Belli Citizens chat?  People tend to think that opinions expressed by frequent posters there are approved by LL, but no, they hold no more weight than opinions by any other resident.  I remember reading some amusingly prudish comments there a while ago.  BTW, there is a Bellisseria Nudists group that occasionally has events.

  13. Do any of the current themes use any PBR materials?

If not, WILL any new themes use PBR?

[I'm not asking because I want PBR Linden Homes.  In fact, I'd rather ignore PBR altogether, which I fear will be impossible.  I just don't have the time to read, read, read about it. And frankly, I doubt my ancient desktop with its Nvidia 1610 is up to it anyway.]

  14. I'm assuming that somebody submitted that question for Patch to answer during the Belliserria 5th Birthday, April 15th.  I doubt he will be too explicit, though.

I imagine (pure speculation) that part of the decision process will be having enough spare Belli inventory to easily accommodate residents who  want to move to Belli from legacy Linden Homes.  (If not all legacy LH continents will be closed, many may opt to move to a remaining legacy continent instead?)  The moles have steadily been building quite a number of spare, unreleased regions of several themes.   At this point they can have over 500 parcels available of each 1024 theme, counting unreleased regions.  However, of the stilt theme, they may want more Stilts on Water and Stilts on Pier, it's hard to tell how many would be available because the unreleased stilt regions are so spread out.  My guess is that they will build more stilts on coastlines that have not yet been built.  Also, many Legacy residents may want 512m2 parcels, which currently are only available in Sakura, Camper, and Newbrooke themes.  Approximately 500 parcels are available for each of those.

Where will the Mediterranean Community Center be?

My best guess is Subtle Joy, a full region with a huge bay.  Judging by the accomplished Belli veterans who are moving into the region East of Subtle Joy (Promesa Verde), I'm not the only one who thinks that!

The new region north of it, Midnight Waltz, now has Med parcels. The region West of Subtle Joy (SSPWindward Drift) is a homestead, which could feasibly be used to extend a Community Center's parkland.

ETA: if it turns out to be Subtle Joy, it would be very cool if there were a couple of rocky jetties extending out into the bay, as in some Cinque Terra villages.  Sunbathing, mooring, etc. happen on those jetties.

my heart is in the trads

I hear you!  I haunted the area around Jacinto for ages before giving up.  Someday I'll have a trad again, having given up my beloved Well Springs.  The amazing thing about the trads in Olde Belli is that nearly every region was hand-crafted separately.  The number of unique features - beautiful natural rock stairways, odd little parks, the maze, beachfronts that actually look like RL beaches, elevated walkways, brick stairways leading to trads tucked away in a corner, cliff trads ... yes there are some boring regions, but many are uniquely adorable.

Good to see you posting, Daniel!  Hope all's well 🤞

I'll have to miss the anniversary, but something tells me that it's going to be quite the bash!

Also, after finally snagging a Fantasy parcel that suits her,  my alt went for a swim and discovered something new to her in Fantasseria!  (I'm sorry if someone has already documented these, but I really got a kick out of finding them).  There are 2 places where a Fantasseria water region touches, kitty-corner, a watery Victorian region.:  Eiruch and Bustle Bay, and SSPE2731 and Nelson Eddy.  If you go to each of those corners and stand on the ocean floor, what do you see?

    PortalsNelsonEddyandSSPE2731.JPG.f70d5c53672072895c217e5a9b1c915d.JPG

A portal that goes to the kitty-corner region!!

So cool!  If I were a mer, I would DEFINITELY be hoping to snag a Fantasseria coastal home near there!  (And, in case anyone is wondering, NO YOU CANNOT TAKE YOUR SUBMARINE THROUGH THESE PORTALS!)  But what of that :)

I'm a bit new to owning a place in Belli but does anyone know the current, average time for regions to be in the various states of construction?  ... I see a number of regions that appear to be fairly close to complete, on the edge of area I guess people are calling Logland, and just curious how frequently I should be checking back.

There is no usual time frame for release of "finished" regions. For example, the coast of Fantasseria has been complete for over a year.  For areas like the stilts along Logland's coast, I recommend using Firestorm's World/Region Tracker feature.  (I don't know if the SL viewer has it).   To use the region tracker, bring up the world map and just click on the region you want to track. Then, on the lower right of the map menu, click "Track Region".  It will ask what you want to call it - you can type in any nickname.  Bring up the Region Tracker, and you should see it there.  Any time you log in, you can check all the areas you're interested in by just bringing up the Tracker.  Click on any region in it and the world map will open to show the region.

All those stilt regions still have SSP in front of their name, and right before they're released the regions will be renamed to remove the SSP prefix. If you select SSPShe Sells, when it is renamed to She Sells it will be grayed out in the tracker, because SSPShe Sells no longer exists.

It shouldn't be necessary to track all the regions along the coast - usually LL renames a bunch of regions at a time, and they are released within the next few days.  Personally, I would just choose 2, one near each end, to track.

When all those are released, you might consider becoming Premium Plus for a month.  You could then claim a stilt you REALLY like, and revert back to Premium to hold on to it.

  20. Just to be very clear, this is the new layout.  The brown line shows the railroad line, which is on land until the southern edge of SSPSubtle Joy, at which point the rail bridge begins and joins the Ranches at a (newly installed) Y in Marimba.  Note that the riverbank in Ouranios has been broken through, so the river now goes N/S all the way through the meds, uninterrupted.

ETA: Community Regions are Full Regions, not Homesteads.  And it's always nice to have rail go through them.  So ... possibly Midnight Waltz or Subtle Joy?

  21. Claimed 4 homes today, and no message, yay!  (But also no homes I wanted, lol)

Great job!  You should do something to get the word out that ding, dong, the bug is dead 😎  It would be ideal if you had a new home style for Fantasseria, then Patch could sort of re-launch the theme with a message in his Updates thread that mentions your triumph as well!
