  1. Maybe radagast, at least for some basics? It actually does a certain amount of visual stuff I think, but not much motion and not really what SL looks like. It is just enough to help you get some stuff done in the meantime as you work towards a better solution. I don't know if it runs on XP, it has been a while since I checked it out. Android phone? Lumina, once again you can find it in the TPV section of the wiki AND on the google play marketpalce. Not sure about the other third party marketplaces. Lumina is a few dollars, but seems like it is a good bet and there is another for android as well!I can't remember the iphone one, if you have an iphone. It is on the TPV page though! You might want to look into learning how to install and use Ubuntu, linux mint or another linux based system. I would watch some videos on how to install, people doing tasks and maybe ask a question or two of linux users here. Linux is not so easy, they say it is and for some it will be. But, some people get stressed when they see words and jargon, but these are the proper words and they need to use them because they have a more complex task to do sometimes. Why? Well, windows used to wip ethe whole drive, if all linux distro's did this and had all drivers available for thier system from manufacturers then this would be easy for ubuntu and ubuntu could be exactly as easy as windows to install. But, people want ot keep the windows system, and linux sometimes has what is called a "swap" partition for memory. In windows it is called "virtual memory" and usually it is automatically asigned and you hear about it when you run out of memory space. Linux many times makes you think about this before hand, not a big deal and it is like switching from mac to windows and vise versa...but basicaly harder because no one made you burn a CD to install windows! Not just burn a CD like a music CD, nope. It is a .iso file and must be burned as one, so you need to find out if you CD burning software does this and get a free download from somewhere (your fav one, maybe softpedia or that one with cows in it's name, tucows?) and uh...yeah, a few mores steps than just getting it out of a box. Unless... The easy way to get Linux based OS? Get a CD/DVD through the mail OR buy a preinstalled Ubuntu machine.
  2. Inherent human fears, sort of representative of how we need to be careful of wildlife in general. Bears are a good one to, you have to wrap up your food packaging and keep it in a bear container. But, yeah I went with snakes instead becuase. Bears are better example though. Because of the silly worries and thier greedy very well skilled sniffing from miles away they end up getting all silly and facing off with people. Even attack sometimes, though it is rare. I think it was said you are more likely to die of a coconut falling on your head than of a shark attack, in those areas of the world people surf. Yeah, some people keep snakes and I was fascinated by their locomotion when I was younger. They are weird for sure. But, they emote far less and this makes them less human and alien to many, so they are for those who like different things I guess? Most seem to want to watch them on TV and not really cuddle them, just sort of the way it is with people and animals. Pet dogs have killed thier owners before, so it is not like people are making sense here lol. I guess a wonderful urban sim in which no one robs you and dogs don't attack you or pee on your car is another one to add lol.
  3. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: Addiction to SL would be just a type of "internet addiction". Internet addiction is not listed in the latest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders published in 2013, which is the American Psychiatric Association's classification and diagnostic tool. In the United States the DSM serves as a universal authority for psychiatric diagnosis. Treatment recommendations, as well as payment by health care providers, are often determined by DSM classifications. I remember hearing a news story about the debate over this when they were updating the manual last year. However so far, studies have found that 86% of study subjects that might be considered addicted also exhibited other diagnosable mental disorders. That is a huge number as these things go and it could well be the remaining 14% also have other mental disorders but hide those disorders better or their diagnosis was beyond the scope of the studies. More studies are being done, however if this holds true SL in and of itself couldn't be considered addictive. People who appear to be addicted to it have mental issues already. This reminds me of nicotine in cigarettes and schizophrenia. It is almost like a medication, though it causes other problems. People do find other distractions, they move from one to another but we also need to understand that SL ISN'T addictive really, it is far far LESS addictive than the net in general. Why? There is a HUGE retention problem! NOTE: Time of the essense? Please, skip to the next bold text for my conclusion, if wishing to burn up a few more minutes and possibly get a few hints at why I say it, read the below stuff. It does lend itself to fantasy and escapism. Those things are even used in recent studies to do with pain. If the person is distracted they feel less pain during a surgical operation. So, yes I can imagine people use the net to feel better and escape the pain the feel. BUT, the net has other things that do this with more addiction. It is like saying licorice is addictive, I imagine some love it. But more are into cigarettes or alcohol, so it is ignored. Once again, I am not seekign this and sciting it, sorry. fascinating stuff out there and SL has so many facets to it that it ends up popping into ones mind while reading these things. Sl doesn't force you to use it. No government agency requires you to use it to understand what a citizen should (law, latest things to protect onesself from things like recalls and fruad) so it is almost the most innocent. But, there is a worry that if one has enough information about usage of SL and uses it to the disadvantage of the users and not worrying about what happens to them...are they evil? This is something google founders used. It is hard to find things out and use them, but considering the life of a customer it may not be harmful to mentally abuse them (to ones profit line) but is harmful to the customer after and during the interaction. I think this is actually what people mean by it. But what should a company do? Should they force thier users to hate it, to log off and go away? Sadly, lag and failures may have done this sort of thing lol. You could argue this then creates ONLY a population of people with certain mental traits or features (disorders even) that causes them to synergistically enhance addiction and they loosen thier pursestrings before finally leaving SL for a while. I think of it as being addictive to some because they find community in some form or fashion. This means that all the corporate weirdness about bottom line only sort of becomes evil on some level, so you see SL incorporating sociology and so on when they engineer it. It is maybe debatable weather they are evil or not, and I haven't researched it enough at all (I just read news and such, no big deep study stuff and I am not qualified to do so) to really say weather it is a danger or not. I feel that it does warrant some deep thinking and research about how people interact in virtual worlds but sort of feel like it will be forever useless because so many studies are on average people. The demographics of each virtual world are maybe average, I doubt it, but they change once they get here. Here is not average, it is NOT the world. But, it has so many community type of elements and has a visual and audio tied to it. The eyes are very very very big influencers on ones mind and memory. The interaction also enhances ones memory I bet, but i fyou are passive here you may float through a day and not care. See, it is hard to say. You don't have to engage, you can wonder with no care and it is passive like a TV show you dont' really want to watch but are bored. So many specifics that make it hard to tell, so it is best for each to try as hard as they can to look after themselves and maybe even track or take written notes of what happens, inlist another to maybe watch if you have trouble and want to change?
  4. You know, pay is an interesting topic and question. What do you consider this, an RL production or just a fun SL only thing? I mean, some people earn far less because they see it as a fun sort of thing. Are you screening for quality of recording, I mean would one need a good mic and very quite place please? Thanks for any response that is helpful to those interested.
  5. Oops, I posted this in the wrong general discussioin forum. Uh...well, I gues everyone can talk about awesome land stuff they wanted or wonder if it can be built. So, in that case... Larger sims, but this is not a stuff really and a SL server side thing. BUT, weather that doesn't lag AND stuff that interacts with it. If it rains, the deck darkens where the rain went. The grass glistens more and all that. Sun showers to, not just storms. Plus, wildlife sounds change. Not to mention, if it is the right seasons (seasons to!) ponds will emerge, leaves change and so on. Wildlife at different times. You can observe them and learn about real world wildlife, no freezing numb toes or snakes to watch for!
  6. I am not sure about addiction and SL. I have heard there is a HUGE turn over rate. So I would assume it becomes part of an identity building thing, like any involved social hobby. If you are hanging at a club for musical instruments or playing guitar when you should have done house chores you would assume they are addictions as well. I would say that it is because house chores are not fun. In fact, if rich people hire people to do house chores and then spend time writing letters to family and listening to music, are they thought to be addicts to writing and listening to music? Addicted to fun, or laziness? Phobia about dirt or organizing things, maybe fear of monsters that live in the closet or demonic possesed vaccum cleaners? So, there needs to be more clarification I think. But, you mention creators? I am betting people who build get frustrated and are forced to log off when objects start bouncinig back to the place you just moved them from, textures just seem to not work (white narrow bits on some colors...why does jpeg200? do this!? it's all math) AND in fact, if you are addicted to building then start to learn quanturnian math....wait, qauturnion? quatornion? :matte-motes-frown: :matte-motes-sour: :matte-motes-angry: ARGGGGGHAHAHAHAHAHAGGAAGHGGHGAHG hahaha ah ah ah hH HHAHA HAHA AGARAGA..... See, it works pretty well!
  7. What did you always want to see or own in SL that seems to not be around, or just isn't as well done as you would like? For me, it was monster trucks that had suspension response. Crunchable junk cars set as well. This can sort of be done, but I always end up with seeing it not work smoothly enough. I have seen vehicles with shocks, but they are just not very smooth at all. Also a more detailed crashable car, one where specific hits on areas of the car do specific damage. This is in car games, but not so possible here without the witch hunt and lag meaning you couldn't rez it on any tracks. I am still exploring this, there may be something that works, like using particles and alpha change parts with some alpha textures to put holes etc. in areas. not impossible, just sort of makes me feel let down when I see other animated projects that are complex lag and fail. What did you always want to see or own in SL that seems to not be around, or just isn't as well done as you would like?
  8. Didn't someone get Scratch working for LSL, in a limited way? There was also Mice on a beam, if I got the name correct. More of a mature product, and commercial. It produces LSL code, was made for in world and by an SLer. Uh, yeah I guess the goal would be to learn programming, and event driven programming is sort of it. Back in the day it was Logo, instructions to get controllers to work with a box that controlled lego motors (and mechanisms made from lego with it) as well as simplistic logic gate that could be joined togethe with metal screw down thingies. Not as fun as this though, I bet it makes a million game programmers and game programming becomes the lowest paid job on earth lol. Not to mention Unity 3D game makiing. Who needs serious STEM degrees anyway! Well, that's not true because Unity has a Pro version that lets you optimize and expand on the offering so you have more power. I bet all the profitable game makers use that version.
  9. I was checking out geometric shapes. NO, not the largest setting on the female sliders chest setting! Vertex thingies, thingies that identify or whatever shapes and patterns and solids etc. Look at the pattern in this wiki article related to 6.6.6 (or 6 to the power of 3) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagonal_tiling Scroll down to the patterns and you will see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagonal_tiling#mediaviewer/File:Hexagonal_tiling_7-colors.png It is a 3-uniform tiling pattern. Now, considering that the pattern on governer lindens underwear is much more complex, maybe it contains a pattern that contains something similar to what a western or english speaking person may know, come accross in english speaking movies etc. 666, the OLD number of the beast. The beast is the anti-christ, or behind it or related to it. So, we are seeing a NEW SL, one that may make people turn from the old SL. IS new SL the anti-SL!!!!!? Was the end fortold in the underwear pattern of Governer Linden, can we decode it and find out the future? I for one don't feel like staring at governer lindens underwear, but I think the pattern has UUID and I am not sure if it is finable. Or was it floating around as a free texture? The pattern is obviously NOT uniform, but the math associated with these patterns may be usable to decode it. I can't, I can't math now I have to do stupid dumb person stuff today. But, for those watching for the end...maybe, just maybe it may hold the secret! They will have known it would end, be reborn and so on. So, since virtual reality full on is maybe the goal then this next SL may be the anti-christ. It will kill old SL, make and unslee virtual world and then god (the creators of SL) will come back again, maybe unite even, and destroy the anti-SL and then 1000 years of SL will exist. Then I guess people will be uploadable to harddrives and android bodies. So, we will see our avatars history, chat and logs used to recreate our avatars via some tricky AI stuff that can guess based on massive amounts of data collected about humans and thier ways create a recreation. For instance, my avatar would have horrible grammar and no friends and post on the forums, and use the word and to many times and not really bother to edit much! Stuff like that, yeah. Obvious that we are a little aways from US using avatar insilica! Right?
  10. Why should I tell you, you may copy bot them!! Ok, I am joking here. But, yeah I have a few old Yamaha bikes. They did a whole thing where you had to drop in at certain times and collect them, only one per person. They are transferable. Also, a few peices of framed art. They where giveaways and collectable. The whole gallary is gone I think, they used to hold events. As far as buying them? Well, I am not sure the stuff I have is worth anything and have never heard anything so I am glad I didn't buy anything sometimes. But, having said that. Starax. If you are not aware of him he made a magic wand full of stuff that would rez, it was animated to. Those wands where worth a bit back in the day, and his statues where renowned. I saw a place where they had them on display, they actually have a script in them that tracks who owns it or how many times it was sold, I can't remember. It sort of reminds me of a method one artist used, he put his finger nails into the paint so DNA testing could be done on his works! Can't beat that, but then again does he now burn his nail clippings, I mean if he made it to be famous? lol, imagine people spying on your trash looking for nail clippings and then auctioning off your art works and saying publicly they doubt it...darn, you just new it wasn't racoons right!?
  11. I meant that, if practical, I am thinking of free like/converted products. I know it sounds crazy, but conversion for some things is not a big deal. Having thought about it though, if you are coding that much and are doing stuff liek making server back ends(not sure if you do, but you reminded me of those more complex objects like breadables) then maybe that is a great example of something you couldn't really give a free like product with. Good point! I know that for cars, I would end up getting a script and it would cost me and the only reason I am thinking about giving free like products (if I even keep on going with it, I am sort of here because I have a few months where I can maybe redo my stuff and finish off things laying around in memory devices) is because people who see that they can get the same when the next version of SL comes out will feel less bruned and are likely to buy with no worries. Likewise, those who are intending to upgrade in the christmas, black friday or back to school sales will buy the day the want the item and not wait and save. In that way it is trust in the future savings that may lead to checking out the brand or word of mouth. What about loyalty to the point the creator is understood to have to take some time, so they choose to purchase as it is like a donation? What about kickstarter to bring the store over, each purchase ends up with a product of some type that is your major product? I agree with the premium getting OnLive app, I wonder if the next one will be like that? And, yeah SL in name though and if they keep the same people then regardless of tech you can argue it is the same community and maybe the people make it SL and the culture transfers. To a customer, one who is strictly a customer, maybe they feel it is about the people and not the tech and to them they will be SL2.
  12. Bots? Despite the hate I have heard people use them for groups somehow. Like I said, just stuff I heard about. I imagine all the plug-ins, options and all that are available from bot sellers. I mean, groups themselves are sort of automation because you can announce to many at once, but beyond that I do know they handle sign-ups yeah, you have experienced what I have as well I bet lol. Some hate those, but I remember someone saying they stood around and when people TP'd in they sent them group joins and it didn't hurt their business but expanded it. Maybe they where lying to destroy the competition lol.Not sure, just some stuff off the top of my head. Another one is to build the most in demand stuff, and maybe that means have voting or asking customers you chit chat with what they want most. I wanted to do this myself, put up a few potential builds names, maybe some concept art work and then have customers vote. I never did that though, so I can't say if there is a good response or if it works lol. Just another idea that may help focus so your build time is spent with most impact on the bottom line.
  13. I would look into automation. Bots can handle some things and trim of minutes of log in and fussing time. Maybe usign a chat only non-graphical client may help. Another method is to maybe find simpler items to make, or automation and templates for your 3D workflow. Time saving plug-ins may not require a huge time to learn and may make things faster. Pre-fabs are what some people do, modifying them to make them much more distinguished and have your style may help to save time on creating new items. I remember one person just renting out part of his sim, if you have more land than you need maybe partnering in a way like that OR using affiliate vendors and announcing each time you add one to the store. But, yeah I bet they would go solo. It is the rest of the stuff you would want to hire out. You count your money, your customers and all that and have them drop in for event running/hosting or whatever else. Making affilliate vendors is what some people say is good. Others sell your stuff and maybe help them out with some info on events that can be run and point them to the wiki.secondlife.com site page on events. That is off the top of my head, I am sure you may be able to brainstorm some more stuff. Argh, I need to go.
  14. Don't worry, save your energy for beta testing. THEN you can freak out at all the failings and crashes and such.
  15. Yes, you have a point because the SL is doing things that are not impossible with todays tech, but they are also diversifying and preparing for a new future with new wind in thier sales and a new customer base that trusts thier brand (blockworld et al are a new generation of LL brand aware people!) so I see nothing but a rise in SL2's potential. This is beyond the scope of this thread though. Here are the highlights of my thinking: 1. SL has made it through changes that threatened the population, they gain new people and some leave. Some come back after a break. 2. People buy new stuff, change to new things and compare and contrast new and old. In fact, new stuff seems to be the lifeblood of some merchants business and they always say to make new things, announce them in group and get them seen on the blogs! So, switching old content is only partially an issue, no one is stopping them from logging in with the very same freinds over at the old SL so they can check out thier old stuff, visit old hangouts etc.! 3. SL's new streaming App service that allow mobile devices means people have more chances to use SL and may be less disuaded from logging in as it is more convenient. Mobile devices are cheaper and this removes the hardware costs that Brain Balm's study found was a major SL usage stopper. 4. Ironically, SL2 is not in a worse position right now but in a better one because it will attract the creators that like to get on the new tech and SL will filter new customers there. Thousands a day, thousands with LESS resistance to adoption because of less system requirments IF they are using this streaming service. Not saying it will be HUGE, but the one competiting thing is the next one. 5. IF they can't use SL2, they will maybe check out SL1! This means that SL1 might keep alive as it looses some users to SL2. This means that as some like it and see neato pics of SL2, they might upgrade thier hardware or make sure to check out those newer PC's for christmas/birthday! SL's built in population, promise of ads pointing to the new SL2 and streaming Apps all point to a increase in SL population as a whole. No competition so far has pulled the whole world into the ground. I don't know and am still reading and thinking about it, but the above sort of show my thinking so far. You raised an interesting point, who says it will take off. That is for another thread and maybe the better question is, how much demand or popuation would it take to get merchants to switch? Where else would they go to? But, then it is like a survey and all that and I was just wondering about brand loyalty in SL with no intentions of a serious study and interview. Just chit chatty sort of question lol. There are a few other points I think, but I can't remember them and this is getting to be a larger than expected post and tl;dr kicks in. I have to go as well, I should be doing 10 other things this morning.
  16. am not doig a survey, and I mean...I can count and stuff, but I am not survaying seriously in anyway. But, just out of interest of another post I figured customers would be more loyal if creators gave them the same items in SL2 when they get there, to make up for what is sort of happening with SL1 being replaced over the next few years. Then I thought, maybe customers are not really loyal enough and basically would just not buy much from you and basically spend thier stipend or regular allowance on other creators stuff!! lol. What do you think, be sure to find humor in this because it is a funny sort of world we live in and customer loyalty cards are almost like bribes, which isn't really true loyalty for the love of the product and the word loyalty sounds funny. I figure no one cares because most of your 1+ year ago customers may not be around and may be like "Who's that company?" BUT, that is sort of just me though lol.
  17. In protest items would have no rips or openings, like...jumpsuits made of plastic. Avatars don't need zips! In fact, forget RL and avatars move to impressionism and change colors and substance. Like, clouds, spikes or a combonation of things that express as they speak or type. Coded avatars or SL viewers to do this and creations that sort of keep on going, longevity because they are original and don't disapear from your inventory. Join sim after sim in a huge continual belt across SL, buy sims abutting mainland and land among mainland and make a continuious place that runs all through everything else that has something continually running through it. Like a line, or maybe something else more symbolic. Whatever it is, must have no tears in it and stand forever. If someone drops thier land, another should be organized and in line to buy it. The presence, the continual presence and the symbology...yes, it sounds really neat. I will have no part of it, but lend my insanity to your cause and wish I had the speed and maybe just the time or money to make the original cars I have brewing partially in my head and some on paper. Even a few odd vehicles and other items, even maybe some art stuff that serves little purpose other than to exist because it can....but, yeah, I haven't the speed or time to do this. But, yeah the virtual world needs new stuff rather than just RL stuff IMO. But I don't know if there is any incentive in it for many. It is harder to design a car, redner some visuals to help guide what you have realised on paper, draw up your own blueprints to help get started in 3D and then mesh it tall up and texture it. Of course, you can skip the 2D and work in 3D if you are good at concepting, detailing and then retopologizing it, sculpting can work for this for some items and I get lost for almost an hour seeing where the brush takes me in sculptris. I have nothing to show for it though, but a few vaugue ideas that spark my imagination. Wish I was faster and more efficient at drawing and 3D, or at least so good I couldn't tear myself away from it. I can't get good enough fast enough, so I have to do other things and try to eek out some money from the world for the world and wait to die. But, yeah, Post Virtualist Expressionist avatars! Fun stuff, I should write that one down and play with it because it is maybe easier to generate some bits for and all sort of is based on parsing chat for words or emoting symbols. Add to that a friend/empathy part to the script and maybe some humurous stuff that is familiar, though different enough to be novel or new....ah, I have wasted to much time even typing this. Off to worry about money and death, bye. Good luck and good socializing, one seems to help the former out a bit so maybe you are in the right direction with this thread you started.
  18. Puts on the programmer hat and german programmer pants. Ya, you can convert sculpties, prims and current mesh to mesh of other kinds. In theory this could be programmed UNLESS they choose a very propriatory format that either LL has made, modified or is made by a 3D software maker that they choose to use more or less exclusively and basically choose a format that open source or various competing softwares can open. They will dev it and test it with uploads made in something, most likely Maya or 3Ds Max. If they choose certain formats that are hard or impossible for non-what-they-tested-with-and-chose format than, well...they block out easy conversion. But, as it stands a scultpie can be imported using Domino and Giaiaa..ai..h...?Ok, I can't spell her name right now. But, yeah Primstar or JASS imported sculpties, right? Prims. Well, an open source project for blender exists that build prims. Modified and a modified veiwer with whatever export funcitons it has allows you to export your creations. AH HAHAH!, Poenald...what about customers!?" Of course you just give ALL previous and present customers a copy in the other world to! Yes, you don't get paid enough and may not do it. But, those who do feel inclined, for money or for the pride and joy of it all will do it and gain smiles and happiness for thier customers. Maybe more sales down the road, loyalty increases. Heck, I have seen people pour out thier love, donate money and so on to help another SLer get treatment. In fact, you could ask your customers to spend some of thier spending on charity donations to RL charities (even ones that have a presence here) because they have cool new worlds AND stuff from you so will maybe be inclined to spend less. You can literally save the world a tiny bit, and coders may appreciate donations and purchases of thier convertion tools that will at least partially help (already, you can export prims and isn't their sculptstudio guys meshstudio or wahtever he called it? So, yeah between Primstar and Domino Marama's other works and teh sculptstudio guys software you get prims, suclpts and they convert into mesh. You can convert your dae files to the newer whatever file they choose, hopefully. LOTS can be lost in this transaltion UNLESS coders step up and help with this. I am not programmer enough to do it. Some of it is propriatory and possibly requiring lots of work I am slightly clueless about. Dae is most likely the way to go, but if you enhance it you might make things a bit better. Plus, what about voxels? So, who knows what will happen. If they say some of it may transfer, I imagine that means they will mod the .dae file format to fit whatever new features they want and there seems to be people working on that for blender, so maybe try ot support them. That is what I will try to do a bit here, by mentioning that there are PEOPLE who work on these things and some may want help, donation or maybe a drink and a pat on the back...others may not want anything though, so find out I guess by looking around about it. But, yeah....support them and maybe even become a programmer yourself. I learned a bit, and I am a mess and am some what restricted. easier said that done, BUT doable and desirable for the SL creator who wants to build a loyal customer base....if that is possible. Hhhhm, to the merchant forum for me, with a new question.
  19. No organized echolon, but within a circle who loosly agrees they may feel they have a command of certain things. Maybe not people, but a greater command of language, building skills or maybe money making skills. Maybe they can't explain what it is, although they think they can explain it and that is good enough for them. "Echelon" is qouted by him, so I assume he may not use it as a word that has to keep it's pure definition. He is possibly using the outes not to qoute an actual person or text, but to indicate it is a word some may think or use, and maybe it unsure it accuratly describes it but either way they are likened unto this. All residents are equalish, premium members have more features or places available lol. Plus, some are better at some things, m00bs are better at being n00bs...beleive it or not, there is a value in that, so people sometimes survey n00bs for thier "echeloness" of n00biness! They n00b better than older members, we just can't beat them at that!
  20. Ancancano wrote: Alright, thanks for the info If nobody shows interest in it soon I'll see if I can get more L$ and up the commission price I just noticed that I've been able to buy a lot of neat avatar items for less than 400 L$ so i thought commissioning might work the same way haha. I would say it depends on rights. Someone may be making something similar and may think it is OK because that is the end price and simply notify you when they release the item or list it! It is maybe uncommon though, but you never know and I think a request culture is what this wanted forum is for. But, yeah, I remember a guy charging over 20, 000L for items that are maybe similarly complex but also maybe more so....but, yeah if you want full perms and they figure it might not sell to much they will charge a lot more.
  21. Venus Petrov wrote: Umm. I think there is a 'KANG' of SL running about this place gathering converts. However, nice try and I hope that you feel better now. Kangs don't control stuff, they are figure heads these days. I possess no power, just thought it may convince some people to have fun with it. Epic fail, huh? Now this Ebbe guy is around, and I am starting to wonder why....it seems not even SLers want to run the show! They simply want HIM to do things, he is like some kind of a guy they set up to laugh at...they build his confidence and then push him out there to say his bit and they all laugh or act as if they don't know him! This is worrisome. The severity of my post here was completly lost on people, we where almost leadersless and lost....no one would lead us, only figure heads announcing they are around and then this post gets over 500 views with only ONE response! Crazy. No, not the thread, just that I can't get my spell check to work and actually don't care so much but do need to watch out for typo and spelling mistakes to improve. Epic fail on a joke, and I thought that "in my pants" thread was really not that funny. But, it was just a stage for others to be funny....it wasn't supposed to be funny on it's own, just....just....a stage.... can't beleive the font size choices these days, geesh.

The only things I care about when it comes to the marketplace is the copyright infringement that is blatanly plaguing the marketplace with ripped content from games, and the fact that scammers are running rampant. Both of those are incredibly terrible things to be having. Stuff from games, oh I have seen this. I always wonder why games dont' simply export and make an account? SL usually doesn't compete with thier game at all in anyway other than it keeps it alive and spreads it a bit.....I mean, it depends on which game I guess...right? BUT, having said that....well, yeah they may have image issues! I am sure the people who made GTA would be upset if furries and hermaphodite gaint car tire irons decided to bread on thier cars...right? Seriously, random objects there and never read to much double meaning or code into that line. It was purely unintended. But, seriously.....they just wait for these guys to promote thier stuff and basically they only take attention away from SL in some ways. I mean, lag is non existant in an adjusted game on my HDD and I have ancient hardware with ruins for keys...funny enough, I had a keyboard with a socket that no computer takes these days. I think it is from like the early 1990's. First "real" keyboard, I am a light and fast typer and seem to go easy enough on the keys. I wear them down on top though, which means my keys may appear to have ruins on them...ruined letters, but I was trying to say runes....the symbols....ah, once again....what am I saying or trying to say. Yes, sadly I do wonder is SL will switch to a block world sort of thing, prims with code abillities. No need for scipting for basic operations, easy for all to build. No need for merchants, no need for to much code or time consuming stuff like all this copyright related stuff. No worries, all items created are auto shared with all. No ownership means no fighting, sort of like what parents do with children. This also reminds me of those smarty pants guys who come up with oddball solutions that people swear would work. LIke, one guy or guys think tanked up a solution to jail...something like just putting a person in an area and letting people have at them. the mob decides, or at least that is what I figured he might as well have said and it stuck with me....sadly, I don't remember so can't find a link to it.
  23. I am not much of a merchant, I do sell things on the marketplace. I drive them. I am a loner, for maybe not so obvious reasons. Sure, I am charming, inteligant, have a sparkle in my smile and wonderous meandering thoughts that I share. Surely I am a picture of success and great mental health. Alas, things are not so and my merchanting and second lifing are low in hours these days, the stalkers are always there and make it not worth my effort. The emotional toll and so on, blh blah blah...I drop the hankerchief and stare blankly at the forum because I can't cry. Besides having an urge for some kind of fruity flavored delight, like a low fat and low crumble peach crumble...well, I find numbness as a hard to use word because it doesn't describe anything. So, after losing my train of thought and almost forgetting what this thread is about I will compose myself....ah, a dinful single 2 note chord that stops abruptly....hhhm, bad composition but fitting and does sound very me right now. Yes, as I was saying. I don't merchant much. I DO however have many thoughts and complain very well. So, I will look to that part of my ability with hope that I can come up with something? Not much, sadly. But, I think that many things may be wrong, many things may be right but many things are always tied to motives. Merchants want money, they want less competition and many things. I am sure some want smoothies right now, and I don't have any. I really do feel they should and could have them BUT I am not thier Dr. or health pro (dieteticion...that word may be spelled right because whenever I see it I think it is spelled wrong....because it looks like the way I might have spelled it) so....alas, war may break out over issues but at the end of the day people hire smoothies to serve them as slaves. Slaves to battle thirst. With the thought that all products are slaves, I am horrified at the shocking conditions objects live in. So, I propose objects in SL need to have souls. They should break and wear as people use them, the marketplace has many items and the control of LL is over ALL objects (TOS says recently we have to give them all rights, even though we can't give rights to things already uploaded....we have not rights for those things, we where given no abillity to delete them even....I am actually concerned and may have to contact a mental health professional to call up your offices to ensure your TOS actually claims you have all rights to all things...I am not telling a lie here....not...one word on that, I can NOT beleive the reality that is presented me as being the real one and it is not due solely to the insanity of strange ALL rights speak in the TOS and is related to odd trickery and stalking in RL that has followed me here....no joke!) Yes, crazy TOS rules are obviously meant to liberate the objects, to protect them and make them real. Like pinoccio (s? I heard it is always wrong to mispell peoples names...gosh, mabe he wil break off his nose and stab me....bad trip if I end up seeing that happen, glad I don't do drugs or hallucinegens! But, imagine that.....Pinoccio in a jail cell, breaking off his nose as and sharpeniing it as he prepares for the jailers...he wants to be free! WAIT!! why am I still using parenthesis? It is one of those writing gimicks? Yeah, the flow and text, the meanings of the words...their roots...does it all have meaning? nah, I just forgot what sentence I was typing) OK, now.....FREE form the parenthesis, just as objects in SL could be free....they would finally make sense! Yes, they would create sense, experiences via sensors. Sensors that detect the flavors of each one, a virtual reality helmet that allows us to taste would he great. People could order custom made ones, so yes....hardware. LL a hardware company! the occulus rift may be licensing it's chips. Combined with FULL sense and full haptic sense chairs we could all end up being pioneers, pioneers that walk funny and have odd memories and flavors experience as we see objects that are not there from all the VR emersion.....but, visionary pioneers non the less. For this status, we would swear allegeance to LL. Be knights maybe, sirs and...uh...sirettes? Madames? Yikes, in the US that sounds like a brothel running person to right? Uh....Ma'ams? Whatever. Sirettes will do...this is a new world, a new era and we can all do as we please. So, in infinite wisdom we really do see the reason why the objects had to be inailiably liberationable. Yeah, I can use big words to, aside from having amazing taste in virtual worlds, right guys? Ah, OK. Along with the odd TOS I wonder if the name Altberg is also part of the sureal fake reality that stalkers have possibly presented as a true one? In SL and Alt is a persons alternate, I see you really did learn that already because you see the advice to make one lol. You have an instant avatar to build....if an Ice berg is made of ice...yeah, youget the picture. So, my advice is to find the mesh or sculptie noobs and people statues and build a HUGE avatar out of the. Being the big Kahuna...I bet I speled that rong agayn....Ok, yeah...you have to have a HUGE alt and be a giant berg of alts. This will not be apparent to 90% of Slers you meet, because 100% of those 905 will suspect ME of being that avatar AND most of the rest will not even know you name or remember it because they dont' read forums? either way, alts are always suspect and so much so that everyone already will think you are someone else. Only Elite IP adress watchers that have bots at every n00b log in location and help area and scattered everywhere will know it is an LL employee. Unless you go some place, like build an ice cream van with a generator and get a stallite internet dish thingy and go around in disguise and parking and logging in. YOu need toi live a normal SL life, maybe be a giant altn00bberg that is married to a giant furry that sells machine guns that fire chain saws that cut things into flowers and then break down and cry at the site of them...weepiing chainsaws I mean, but yeah.....anything can cry at pretty flowers...right guys? Yeah....?...no....ok wow. I don't remember what I was getting to, but do remember the topic! I think merchants are possibly really interested in making money and more or less are not likely to make bad decisions with the marketplace IF given the right info and guidance. I also think that we, or at least I, feel rather disposable and understand that Block World may be fun and a new generation of SLers may come along that really don't like merchanting in SL and detest mesh. IN fact, mesh in 10 years may not be around and voxels may have taken over. VR tech will be making people sick all over....well, at least all over youtube videos! I have seen people falling over and being sick, which is partially a past time related to alcohol that teenagers and young adults like to play. So, needless to say they may enjoy a different world than we have now and merchants become less significant as build tools advance and I understand that the next digital Lego like product has more potential than ANOTHER pair of shoes that are copied very closely from a pair of shoes that copy another real pair of shoes that where a modification of a past favorite pair of shoes design. Yes, blockworld will inherit the labs love and we will die a slow painful death (actually I may mak emonster trucks with Bloxels...surely you have invented Bloxels yet, right? If not I may make them myself... OK, who forgot to make Bloxels? Ah, I am sort of worried here. Anyway, why am I still typing in bold text? Ok, better. Ah, I can't remember what I was going to say.
  24. The rules recently changed. You can still open a store in world though, rent to another avatar is available if you don't want to put payment info on file and pay LL directly. There may be rentals easy enough to find right here in the forums, but not General Discussion, the other land forums and maybe post in the Wanted forum for specific land offerings if you can't find some that are what you want. You talk about costs to upload things? Well, yes there are costs to upload things to SL in the first place, but no extra costs to list at the marketplace but you lose commission. But, it said you have to purchase linden dollars to get the account verified, so technically you DO have to buy those L$ and even if you sell them you would lose commission that goes to LL when they exchange money. So, sort of no but then again yes a small cost.
  25. This forum is pretty active, not bound to only one aspect of SL. So, the minds here are used to general stuff, the kind of thing a CEO needs to think about. He can't be all like "A fashion forever!" and go to the fashion part of the offices and sit all day long, no he has to be watching every area of SL. So, with a combined IQ far outweighing one persons, more hands (don't people always complain about needing another pair of hands? Well, this forum has more hands available than one pair) and many other qualifications 9please do post any special skills you have, just in case people start to question your authority) and well....yeah, why not. Besides, they went and foudn Yahoo people to run the place? I am like, well...why not the sort of cute blond CEO? Surely we have cooler toys here. News people, video's and such are nice. But we have guns, insane violent angels and strange sex areas....what more could a bored CEO want, surely something of this collection would entice them!? Ok, I was going to gather some guns, a few strange creatures and a car that goes over 500 mph and can fly and visit them all....but, needless to say they may not have accounts in world and if they did then then they could simply arrive in this thread and run it...I don't even have to fire stuff at them or drive into them and be all like "oops, sorry about that...HEY, did I just run over and fire a watermelon at the CEO of..." and ask them "YOU could be CEO! You can make lag disapear, right?" and...well, yeah. I am not sure why they didn't line up to run the place, but nah...they seem to have this one guy and he is like not even knowing what to do or say and maybe he never actually agreed and they just decalred him the CEO!? Crazy idiot must have done this type of thing....well, where was I....YES, I am decaring the Discussion Forum the CEO! YOU, General Discussion Forum, are in CONTROL of SECOND LIFE! Yeah, they can argue otherwise and do it in this thread and I am sure you guys will outvote them. So...yeah...uh...have fun. Firstly, make sure NO slushy drinks on the servers..I know slushies are cold, and cold is good for servers...but seriously....wait, that was mine...:( Uh...wow...Ok, you guys turn and I will step out to finish my slushy drink.
