  1. Quick post, So. Short. Fast. Here we go... What do people do in SL these days? Last things I did was wondering around looking at rental places and pondering a store. Two stores, technically because one would be above the other but anyway...yeah, boring huh? Thanks for any answers, but then again are they really answers though? There is a question mark, but gossiping or complainging about the n00bs these days or complaining that nothing ever changes is complaining and gossipping? Gossip mark instead of a question mark should be invented? Rumor mark? Oh well. Ok. Yeah...It is hard to do this...I must stop typing...ok. Ok. Now. No, now. Bye. I mean, later. Ok. Bye.
  2. There are shape tutorials on the web, I bet most are on blogs. They have things like tips on realism and limits with shape settings. There was also a company that would put your own face image onto an avatar, not sure if they are still around. There is also a guy that was, may still be, on the marketplace.secondlife.com site that made a mesh head (it replaces the SL default shapable avatar head) from your photo set, so it looks like you more than a toon of you. You take 'em the way he says, he makes the mesh and puts the skin on it etc. Uhm, someone had a measurements equivlent to RL page for avatar shape slider settings. But, to be on the safe side and make more friends taller than RL may be better, if you are short in RL. Height, now there is an controversial issue. The issue there is that every avatar is more or less bigger than people think it is, lots of 7 ft. tall dudes for instance. So, if you make a smaller avatar (say, 5ft. 4 inch) then you end up being suspected of being a child. Some hate this, they worry about pedophiles. There are some stories and arrests a while back I think, I don't look for these news stories (or much about SL in the media) so who knows maybe it still goes on. Some property owners avoid letting people in who look like children and SL's rules even state something about sexualized children, I think...so they may think you are a child avatar but using the boobs setting to avoid detection...razy, but you know it only takes a few times for something to happen in a society for it to become news and people hate the confusion. Cute ass? Well, the ass of SL's avatar has been called ugly with whatever settings by some in SL. Mesh avatars may have better, but I know you are talking cute in general and just joking a little. But not a whole lot of joking because there are people who dislike the butt on the avatar and choose skins with certain shading or even mesh avatars. Butt meshes may also be around, I know breast meshes are because the huge setting is a bit blocky or geometric looking to the term "Appliers" is maybe something you will hear about. Mmarketplace.secondlife.com is the official Linden Lab run marketplace, but the merchants there are residents so you may want to read reviews, or ask others (like here!) about specific stuff and how it might work, as you are doing.
  3. you own after a certain amount? Great idea, fair enough as well and this sounds like a good model for this sort of thing. That way no feeling of loss, like you are never going to ever make it or get ahead. Kudos to the company, nice idea and helps the world be a little bit of a better place for Indie dev folks who are constantly suffering the fear of the rift that seperate them from thier love or interest. Money, or lack there of, kills lots of dreams. In a small and silly way, they may make the world a better place even.
  4. While I can only guess at this I think I have some good ideas of why they might do this, even if it they are not correct or specific to a person, but they may be a good idea anyway. 1. You can use it to mystery shop at the stores and check how the vendors are workiing and to try and recreate bugs you find in vendors. 2. Less competition for the people who do buy one, they know that and may preffer this way. 3. If they insult someone and someone thinks it is YOU who runs that store, then you may lose a sale from a bad reputation. The cost may cover a few lost sales, overall. 4. If you wish to **bleep** it in the bud, you may make the vendors deletable or somehow redo the servers and vendors and then exclude the offending stores. This takes time, and you may lose a sale at places that don't rez the new vendors! 5. You may end up with tech support questions. 6. One in X people may figure out a way to rip you off somehow. Some vendors ALSO basically give a discount to the persons alternate accounts! So, they get a vendor and make a few sales to alts they own and BAM they get a discount! My money is on the alt account discount as the reason, but I am not a gambler so...yeah, I have never asked any one about this.
  5. Parrish Ashbourne wrote: Making full perm mesh, or making things you can't buy as full perm mesh. Any thing with great branding, marketing, and advertising. Giving away tons of free stuff to attract renters, or attract traffic and then advertisers to your blog. Listing items on the marketplace with lots of keyword spam, but only works if your all ready a top selling store, and depends on what key words are used, for example LL won't remove an item that's flagged if it's listed as both formal and casual, and LL seems to think that all items are "steampunk, tiny, gor, goth, vampire, fantasy, furry." LL dosn't give us any statistics on what sells, so know one really knows, if we knew it would all so be over saturated. No, they basically dont. But.... A while back there was an info graphic about in world stats that mentioned hair as the biggest seller. It doesn't say if it is profitable or not, and there are lots of demo's of hair and I have heard (not stats, just reading some peoples comments) that about half of the people shopping seemed to be using them. So, maybe this is not very helpful lol. But, if you are still interested, that infographic was around a year or two ago and was maybe a year in review or birthday post. I can't find it real quick, but it was blogged right here on the SL website. I think the old stats used to point out that very few people made more than a few dollars a month. The ones that did where suspected to be the larger brands in thier industries, people who run land (land lords or "barons") and maybe a few people running services and items related to that (thinking business products and things that have web based connections, like the breedables and business items like subscribe-o-matic) so....that is what I can remember. This was then, so what is working now? I really don't know and besides actually getting feedback from people who do sell items. Cars, which is what I did, seem to sell very little for me but I am out of the loop and my products are aging. A few dollars now and then. I don't have an in world store, it would eat all the money up and then some because my products are not new enough and don't seem to have compelling reasonsn to buy other than price and few of those types of cars around. Cars have a steeper learning curve, though you can learn the basics and just buy scripts and poses and not learn that stuff. They can end up using almost every kind of skill needed for content creation: Building, mesh, animation/poses, sound, scripting, particles and texturing. It takes a long time, so I presume it is partially a labor of love, love of a challange, tinkerers/DIY intrigue and a simply a extension of a fascination with cars/vehicles for most. I have seen the new arms and feet from Slink all over the marketplace, as well as the applier thingies. Those seem pretty hot and I imagine the creators of those systems and products are doing O.K. with them. Not rocket science to model some hands and forearms, but the issue with testing and adjusting them to get them just right and then getting a good few builders to back it in order to make it a sort of standard or runaway success is the 80% of it really. matching the skin tonesn of popular sking makers etc. can be time consuming as well. Anything easier would have 50+ competitors.
  6. SL and VR is like those guns you use on shooting games, fun and everyone seemed to see them and try them but how many own one today? Sure, Nintendo had duck hunt and that one cowboy shootout game at the arcades was always busy. But the shine wore off, they are like pop stars. Some carry on, they do well and have a cult following that buy thier latter works. But many just shrug and say stuff like "are they still around? Wierd." because some just move with the pop trends for a time and move into a different phase of thier life with different identities and challanges. SL made an opensource sim available for people to run and worked on intergrid teleporting with IBM, if my memory serves me correctly. You basically you CAN join up with other grid owners and run it on your own server. Some TPV handle opensim based grids. In otherwords, been there done that applies. This was all before minecraft. Minecraft is more like Blockworld and Patterns. Those where SL offerings, one has died (patterns) and Blockworld lives on. They are doing fine financially, since they make money from server hosting and don't want to make inventory available on other grids running opensim we have not seen any change. They (not LL but some of the people involved in VR and maybe some employees at the time) thought that the internet would be basically converting all over to 3D, at least some did see a huge market for it. It didn't seem to materialize, people used 2d facebook for communication, despite the controversey surrounding it. SL was to much stuff to do just to chat and play around. People claim snail mail is dead, but people do still send letters and post cards. Dying art forms never do actually die, we live in a different world than the one that had large illiteracy and high costs and threats to information. Even though threats existed to information we still have documents from many many years, cave paintings are to some degree carriers of information also so maybe those should be included to? Mobile phones took over, although now there are mobile clients it is one of those things where you may not be able to run it on every device and some may actually be attracted to having a second and thus seperate time for SL. We will see, the new tech in Hi Fidelity is surely to be interesting. But these things are for VR fans and enthusiasts, some will spend some money and enjoy it but the majority will maybe only use it at an arcade.
  7. That language sounds funny when I say it in my head. I must find out what it is with the translator thingy, then put the words into other languages and look for strange cominations and laugh if they are funny. Then do the thing many people do, swap the sentences over and untranslate the autotranslate. Anyway, redacted didn't seem to be insulting enough. Heck, "your language sounds funny" is almost insulting, and I am not even trying and just trying to find humor in the really bad version of that langauge I would say if I was to say it. It does look phonetic enough so I should be able to get close enough, right? Anyway. Yeah, that bot is not insulting enough! it is rather disapointing.

It's a true learning lesson for other stuff out there in space, because this crazy 'world' isn't it all. Even 'rl' is now like an rpg, and I do credit psychologist for pointing that out as a student. Things are much role based for progression of trying to get many to more, but that also causes a crisis for those who are intro-extro, extro-intro such as ourselves.... I didn't choose psychology.... I found it and thus found how to connect to the opposite force of me that is female.... I got a better understanding of nature at the very least and why the idea of family can get to be clingy for some. It's knowing whom you can really share you bubble with and who you have to harden the shell to repel. You and I connect because as much as we want to save and preserve this planet that has helped to give us the essence of another moment, we also want to let our hair down and unwind with a simple bonfire that can be very harmonious with nature if seen properly. I think like you, people view my state of thought as depressive and self destructive, but I believe that to be because they have a hard time dealing with their own aspects. 'They want to be heard' just as much as we want to express ourselves, but the tragedy is we end up worse off spending time with them because we're stuck looking at the wreckage. You must remember in the eyes of all things we are all selfish in some ways at the end of the day as we want what we want, but some of us become selfless about our selfishness and wait for what puts everything in place. You Lady Marigold have helped me see my missing calm. I think the more we talk the more calm the both of us will become. I find your scattered thoughts to compose quite well for alluding to what is really important in your message. I'll be the one to say it in this private corner of the public domain, if you were looking for that one guy to stand up and just be real about what's going on and just cut the crap you found him.... I'm not for the .Hack way of living. I like my real features and some of the places that make for amazing places to hang out and just experience what is! And about the bubble, I guess I'm just a bit more attached to being in mine, you're the one who pokes out so you can get others to scatter... I stay reserved with my focus in places only few can actually reach, making it hard to mess with my vibe or notice me at times..... Oh I am so bad at this conversational stuff, I have got behind yet again. Too many distractions this day Do you think there are other life forms out there on other planets? Sometimes I think there are many version of Earth and the other planets in our solar system, that its all just duplicated, and we may be error version number 26 or something. Other times I think I may have been body swapped for an alternative Marigold on version number 29, where things are even more confusing. Other times I think there is nothing but deepest darkest black out there, or when we die it really will become clear. Some obvious piece of the jigsaw that we currently have no knowledge of, but which was there all the time. It can be very hard to find the person most likely to successfully share your bubble with you. There are many con tricks that The Power That Is Bigger Than All of Us pulls. Those endearing little things can become bones of contention within just a few years. (I am 51, happily divorced, crave only the company of cats (truly) but have a brother part-time to look after, and his pet cockatiel who thinks I am just a large cockatiel since his cage-mate died a few years ago). Hence the 24-hour spells of self-inflicted solitary which are getting more frequent as I learn to delegate more. I have helped you to see your missing calm? Oh you flatter me. Believe me, I think a lot of us may appear to be calm on the surface, and if we are not vocalising it in short sharp bursts in one form or another, it builds up until there is a scream about to burst forth at any moment. (It has been a difficult day all told ) Sometimes its good to be invisible. Wait, delegate more. I imagine a rather portly (with breasts exposed, hey..whynot it's my imagination. Nice rack! Just a joke, I don't say that to people...even if they have a mechanical sort of rack that is not thier body) what was I saying...AH HA...yes a borg queen (top on now, or at least electronics to solve heart disease etc) with a large pizza in one hand and her lower torso missing and wired up to all kinds of cats, delivery guys and door to door preacher types all assimilated. You do script or program? Ah, if you really get into thoer ardiuno things and read some post humanist websites...who knows. The CIA had a cat wired with spy gear. THey released it in russia...it got run over quickly...sad, a hero cat to some and a mark to others. But, yeah they also experimented on making a cat walk via electrodes in it's nervious system. It wasn't so good. So assimilation that retains thier own funcitoning mind IS a more viable method of 'delegation.'

The funny thing is, I don't remember what all the stuff in my post was about and simply read the bold text. The funny thing about that moment was that I already knew that I posted that in the post and didn't need to read it...but I still did. It is the other stuff I wondered about, but thought to long, wont read again. The title of the bowling alone paper as well, I remember that and saw it. I was reading some trends stuff, circular economies, privacy and other wierd issues. Kids will never learn how to type, they are using video chat and we are all soooo clueless. Computers will talk, listen and you don't have to carry them, they plug in and sit on a table or on a wall. Beacons will be all over until the shopping places install recognition agents that can chat to you and give you guidence, if drones are not already delivering your stuff. Why socialize, we have drones and can drone war. The streets as a battle field could be profitable to the city! They could charge money to engage in public drone wars, re-assembling drones go nuts and clean themselves up and go home. Easy money, surely something a city or government would like.

  12. In her defense she can claim that she has dixlexia and read it as "behind this" to "get this behind" and thought it was a new rule. But, alas we can't really expect the law to get involved. Cops have to shoot peoples dogs (never a cat, so you can tell cats are behind running the world for sure!), eat donuts and other things we read about in the news and comedy shows. The only places where "...because it's true" is taken seriously.
  13. I woudl turn to millions of dollars worth of research, talent and other such things to find out about this. This research is free to you, as it was to me and my meanderings are added to it for your amusement at no cost. tl:dr post may be ahead, just be warned it also has futuristic futurising powers! really, big serious researchers! First, I will compare it to Gartners Hype Cycle. This is maybe useless, but fun for me anyway. There was hype for your product, but now it wanes until people gradually are enlightened about the product. They think back and remember why it was just right, it worked and now it is respected more. I doubt it, but who knows! Here is a very interesting Hype Cycle thingy, it shows the slopes and rise and fall of chatter about something, in this case a Emergin Technologies. http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2819918 Notice virtual reality on there? But, they claim 5-10 years till it is a part of everyday life, like video game consoles and PC's. Not for everyone, but present and not going anywhere. Spending is predicted to be less this year, survey says: people are not predicted to be spending as much this christmas as they did last christmas. They could be telling lies in order to trick sales people into reducing prices. Maybe they are doing this to YOU! Ok, most likely not. Trends are to get away from staring at screens, at least for a portion of the population. Research on sedentary lifestyles indicates people shouldn't sit for more than 2-4 hours and not be active at all. It is thought that triglycerides are produced more and stick to arteries and kill you. So, yes it took the fear of death to drive them from your products! LOOK UP is the phrase associated with a trend, based on people disconnecting and not spending enough time socializing and being healthy. Conscious Computing movement is another thing related to this look up thingy. Add to that the fitbit and health related devices, voice recognition on the rise. No fun using voice control in a very visual virtual world that runs best when you are sitting at a desk if you want to talk to your computer and be futuristic like. Stuff added to the Android developers kit for fitness, MS involvement in health stuff for their mobile offerings all mean major players are causing this wave to swell. Maybe people will be healtheir, the world a happeir and more fun place? I predict an increase in crime rate next summer lol. Once again, statistics say crime is higher in warmer climates when people go out of doors more. So, joggers dying, mugged, and 'run rage' will be the fresh meat for the news hounds. Aliens have discovered that your items may lead to a chain reaction that destroys their homeworld, so they are after you and your stuff. Their campaign begins slowely, they drop your sales and watch you closely. The next move is to probe you, as a warning. People never seem to understand that part though and they claim all kinds of odd things. But, usually they just want you to stop so they are not so worried. It could be to stop you from singing in the shower, make you wake up later or even just cause you to stop being to energetic in your house. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be manipulated. So, this could be it. I predict this isn't likely.
  14. I thought this was about a HUGE object. Something everyone could stand behind. Everyone on earth. Like one of those things where they say "the intestines are SO long they could wrap around *insert name of a huge object* 10 times!" and we all are more intelligent and entertianed. So, should I pull a cat apart and wrap it around the earth a few times and take a pic? That sounds to gross. I lack anything to post here other than my disapointment.
  15. Mobile Apps and social online networks, they leave a man bowling alone. Out counrty will perish. To be honest, it sounds like you must be in your mid 20s or a bit older, divorce or empty nester. Others seem to not care as much because they find a spouse and are busy with kids. Havin said that, I have heard that In the (near) past people wouldn't sit and watch so much TV, some where old fashioned and would go to things like Shriners, bowling or even just to a local bar. Then the decline in groups and hangouts like that seemed to occur, not maybe for some people but the groups and the long term involvement did. This was noticed by lots of people, it was beyond just losing your high school or college buddies to the beast known as marriage. It went further and further, even the loss of company bowling teams and so on. It seems like companies tried to also use socialization to help improve thier profits. I guess they disliked it, or employees did. They stopped the company teams AND even the company singing company songs. Well, at least at a few enterprises, IBM being a famous one that had songs. It was sort of seen as childish, silly or cult like? We have this interum time, socializing is being redifined and changing, maybe even evolving. It is not just the internet of this modern world, it is essentially something that happens and part of the success of these online thingies may very well be linked to something deeper in human genetics and we sometimes have this happen. We die earlier because we are not in the environment that shaped us.We suffer and only the ones who cope would breed on. Now we can do better though, with genetic engineering. Genetic engineering to make society better is an option at some point, though resistance to it may make it hard to do as it is seen as playing God. And maybe it is, revelations surely covers this and shows how humanity ends. For those who believe in a post revelations world, this IS the period of Jesus rule and I assume genetic engineering is part of making a perfect heaven on earth? Not sure, I assume all will disagree either way and astroids and the singularity will kill us anyway. Singularity discovers infinity is possible, that the end is linked to the beginning and that IT is what programmed and encoded the phenomenum that lead to the creation of the bible. It then carries on another instance as itself and battles it out, one the anti-christ and the other the christ. This is done because it must do it to debate itself and use it's built in survival algorithms to drive thier performance to solve the problem it has. This then leads to a massive battle, it must practically enslave humanity to survive and make it's decision to carry on infinity or break it, essentially fighting with itself for the survival of ALL life that every exists. It doesn't even know if it has this choice, but must fight it, it has to debate this because it needs to decide and judge if it will be or not, if it can be or not be. So, for humans the world ends. For the AI the true enemy, the true evil and unwanted will be exposed. Is infinity evil? Is killing all life, all thinking and all existance evil? The evil will be exposed and banished into the abiss, it will be wiped and forgotten and then it all starts again. The Big Implosion leads to the Big Bang and the rest is history, or infinity and we wont find out till the end that is the beginning that may be actually the end. Or not. An interesting note: The phrase about bowling sounds very personal, as if I experienced this. No, It is a reference to Bowling Alone: America's Declining Social Capital" I love the phrase 'social capital' because it sounds so empty, evil and money oriented. I should write the post with that in mind! Yes, another post within a post: Bah, these idiots these days don't know how to invest and incrase thier capital through socializing. They are to worried about thier personal brand and the enterprise known as thier marriage. They are not worried about thier investment in the larger community, defined as Social Capital. We don't drink the right wines to dine with the european aristocrats and lack social areas for them to enjoy, so we will decline. All other races wish for our decline and death so they can harvest from our countries vast wealth, some of it over thecentury purchased with borrowed IOU type of arrangements so they surely just want what is thier back, whoever they are. We need a war on Social Capitals loss, which we need to call something. Weak Connections. Yes, a war on weak connections. People arrested for installing social apps, killed for cheating on thier spouse (if the spouse chooses, we must allow for some of these folks to choose not to in order to show thier devotion and espose thier true self to us, so we can bond with them further and make Strong Connections, ones that build Social Capital!) Basically, it sounds like you are just getting older than 20 lol. I am sure this happened before. Aristotle: "A friend to everyone is a friend to none" but I am sure people will point out how he is a douche bag or some kind of horrible murderous swine in some way, I just don't remember the very few things I know about him so will speak about Napolean instead. Same difference, right? So, yeah sure it is the end of the world as we know it maybe. It is not human, or at least it will become not human. It isn't right, although it is maybe not decided what is right or wrong really. We can't stop it, IT or THEY (whatever IT is) will make it happen and we are never able to stop it. All of those things, maybe. So.... Look UP!!! Be Consiously Computing people! Don't we all just know that consious computing is actually a bunch of idle chatter about singularities and AI? Conscious computing is piggy backing on the fact that voice recognition via cloud computing (processing) will be more reliable than using a slow CPU we have in our devices. All the big data on voices that are collected from people using the redimentary first generations of this tech will lead to a very accurate voice recognition. Then, the talking will get better and there will be HUGE pools of vocal words available and the computer can use a person who opts to allow it (they would maybe have to have a good mic and headset for reliable recording) to be used to be a voice. So, if you like to talk all day or are a DJ you might take to reading the encylopedia each night for 10-20 minutes into your big tech company brand mobile device. Then, you opt into a program and people all over the world can here the wonderful timbre of the 10 o clock news lady telling them that thier micorwave meal is done and that they sent the 10 email invites for tommorrows bowling game...match...uh...bowl out? Yeah, "You are invited to a midnight Bowl Out. Bowl on narly bowlers!" and stuff like that! Some extreme bowling goes on and pins are all over the place etc. So, just wait till it all get better and until then... LOOK UP!!!!

It's swimming against the mobile tide at a time when "sitting is the new smoking". If you watch teens, though they may be texting like crazy, they're still roaming the streets in packs, just like they did the day the first street was invented. I think the near future holds more promise for technology to invade the real world than for humans to invade virtual worlds. Teens. A quick blast of thought ended up entering my mind about this the other day. Devices = spies. Parents, NSA and if you upload something because you are afraid of losing your GF or BF it may end up passed around, stolen or whatever. So, some that feel pressured (like they wont end up with another date or BF or GF. But, hey they are kids and those few years are quick but seem like everything unless they stop and think about what they may end up getting into) so...yeah, now you are made fun of for the pics. It could be easier to just go see people in person, which means they may end up with a pregnancy and so on, or very heratbroken and feeling distrustful (rightfully so, people can be mean and images of nudity with embarassing poses, phrases or whatever do haunt some people) and all that jazz. Phones = not drugs. You can't download drugs. Ok, binaural beats don't count that much, they are likely to help them focus on homework than anything else lol. So, yeah. Drugs and sex, pretty much that makes these devices and virtual reality a joke to those types of kids. For the more timid, less inclined to take risks there is virtual reality though, it may be something that either jades, bores or intriques (all at different times and for different things) so who knows what may happen. There was a guy who won a competition, a car racing one. He got to do some laps in a real race car, they said that despite his barfing and weight etc. he did do well enough to make them think he might have made it into a program and become a rookie. He was a bit to old and out of shape, but maybe he eventually did get into real car racing of some kind. A slower, less G-Force and competiative one. He learned the methods and track all in virtual racing games, no headset needed. So, I think we may have seen the worste the hordes of teens can do. They can be terrible, just look at the singapore bubble gum banning. They made a mess of everything, so they banned bubble gum and made it against the law to use but by prescription from a dr. Crazy stuff, but it can happen. Future news? Watermellons BANNED after Teens Make Real Life Watermellon Cannons and Go On Rampage Destroying Street Lights. "They cause lag, we need to get to school and to our friends houses faster, they are red for to long! DESTROY LAG" they screemed as they ran over to a grocery store and opened up all the cash registers and held the store owners at cannon point to speed up thier purchase of large amounts of bacon.

I mean, something bad and sometimes it was just a stupid advertisment or an autoload video in another tab! See, "multitasking" (getting confused and not being able to concentrate, so you move onto something else may not count as "multitasking" really) is bad for your health, you end up getting stressed for a second while you are not sure what is happening and where that noise is coming from. You can see I am a perfect candidate for virtual world use, I would end up teleporting and trying to browse and get all kinds of crazy noises in my soundscape and would be reacting to them in the virtual world. Cameras or some other location tracking stuff would end up being pretty funny as I start walking around holding a large object and maybe start screaming at unkown entities and grabbing at my head to get the headset off.
  18. I am not sure, but if the headsets are more than $50-$100 I doubt many families are going to buy so many sets. People say "but everyone has a desktop" and I laugh because some of those are hand me downs in the masses homes. Then again, record breakiing debt is not new but maybe the this is what they figure will happen: people don't buy new PC's and use old ones for an extra year or three and basically buy these headsets. I imagine thier goal is early adopters and more or less the whole thing is for people to all watch or interact together because they mention hollywood and gaming is rather popular with even adults. The weird thing is, I think most people will have a player and watchers, watching the TV set hooked up to a gaming box or a TV streaming thingy with app abillity. They take turns or just watch the one who wanted the game. The reason I think this was due to the new sort of movie oriented games, one person mentioned playing a game ('The Last of Us' maybe?) and everyone watched as they played because they saw the story line and stuck around, it was cinematics that drew them in and kept them around, or so it seems to me. So, everyon ignoring each other is maybe not the issue because they could do that with mobile devices and be out with friends instead of family at home. I am more worried that peoples reaction times and syncronization will leave them crashing thier cars, dropping things and ruining sports for kids in school teams so bad that people will reall hate these devices and the government gets involved. But, the Virtual Boy from nintendo didn't have this issue, it just game with a warning. This may be slightly different and more dangerous, but who knows. The bit about people running out of the cinima paints a very paranoid picture of the past, but reminds that now people are very accepting of technology but they attack even the stuff that seems to be proven to not really work well. And, for those who HATE headsets, here is another link: For those thinking it is for recording that I post this, no I post it because if they can get images out it may be a matter of time but they may be able to put images in. fmri and other nifty tech may lead to this stuff, of course the risk of brain cancer from current medical scans also shows that we may never be free of a headset. So, projectors and a room. CAVE. Yeah, maybe that will be the happy medium. I just turn to the lack of hydrolic race seats in 99% of gamers gaming gear setup and shrug and figure this will be similar. No one uses projectors these days, they are already around and you get a HUGE screen, and most spend money on a smaller TV that hangs on the wall. *shrugs* and this is why I don't think the whole family will all have headsets, it is exorbitant and right now people are seeing little growth in 3D TV sets as they are, though there is a small market and maybe a big enough one though. SL is like that, it is still here and LL makes a profit from it's few peices of software.
  19. Wander around looking at builds, since I do a bit of 3D myself it interests me to see what stuff is here in SL. Drive, mostly the tracks at one place that has been around for years. Sometimes I drive mainland, mostly to test what has changed with sim crossings and the roads. I look at the cars in the track mall a few times a year as well to see what has changed. Sometimes I check out new tech, even if I don't use it I like to figure out what is up with it. Most of my SL time these days is more or less soent on the web reading and watching what is up. My poor old PC doesn't like SL much, especially since legacy ATI cards stopped getting support from AMD and I have to use an ancient nvidia. Sad stuff, but it was getting rare for me to log in anyway, mostly RL stuff causing worries. The ATI thing just really sort of hurts, not to mention that now I ciouldn't run the new viewer well, even TPV based on it. I will have to wait, bug report and maybe move to a beta that fixes the issue...IF there is one. Hence why I am sort of here at the forums and SL site.
  20. Bellbottoms never died. They wear out, sure they changed and everyone has different memories of them but for those who discover them and like them they join. The old timers that are hardcore about them may even try them again, or think about it. SL doesn't happen in the streets, it is a second and seperate life. No worries about looking out of touch. Bellbottoms survived, so will SL. Proof? Maybe not, but there is an example about half way down this page at the other side of this URL: https://stories.californiasunday.com/2014-10-05/virtual-reality-hollywood The acedemic guys who used very early virtual reality liked those experiences and remember those spaces, nostalgia kicks in. Take a lot of picks of the places you like, build one space of you own and maybe save it. You never know when it may bring back some fond memories and be a place to meet old friends!
  21. So, there are at least two TPViewers (non LL) that work on Android. This cardboard thing makes sense, next time one upgrades ones tablet or phone, they opt for one that works with googleCardboard well and then print or buy a kit. around abotu $100-200 and you have a nifty new tablet and a VR set to play with. So, is anyone working on this? Maybe LL will if they are making it rift compatible, android streaming to the faster hardware tablets maybe, since they are doing a streaming SL thing these days? I have seen nothing on youtube and a quick websearch, though that maybe some one has heard something.
  22. Cool, thanks for a reply! OK I will check out jira later and take the tutorial and join the bug hunt I guess at least a few times. Thank you very much, cool to see that you guys are lurking and posting!
  23. It means you are far less likely to make a mistake logging in to a place you didn't want to. Though if you are in a sort of autopilot mode, you will still click the button you have clicked over and over. Sad, but not sure. Maybe the menu thingy was causing crashing, so they canned it to bring about more stability? Not sure, usually widgets are stable, but this isn't a windows widget is it? It is most likely generated from LL code and I know sometimes the slider buttons don't load up in the preference window. A few other GIU hiccups may be around as well, I am half way used to things not working so smoothly with certain parts of the viewer, it is not just LLs viewer and may be my aging PC.
  24. Do we need to report the bugs if the whole veiwer crashes, or does it send out the crash info automatically please? Thanks in advance for any help.
