  3. easter is irrelevant in rl for me and with marketplace sales ranks being stuck, i don't feel like missing out on easter in sl either this year hehe
  4. hi dante, i have a lot of items where the names are not identical and haven't had too much troulbe with them since switching to dd. only the usual now and then that i also have with items where the name is identical.
  5. hi parrish well if they purchase it twice intentionally, a full refund comes out of your own pocket .. myself, i refund the whole selling price (with commission) without worrying about it too much. if you feel okay with it, refund also the comission part, if it bugs you.. substract the commission and add a short explanation perhaps. if i'd be on the customer side of it, i wouldn't mind.. but wasn't there a problem before with double orders and they posted a notice that you can file a ticket and get the refunded commission refunded. i am just remembering it vagely, not even sure enough to start a seach. maybe someone remembers more

  7. oh yes, i am affected as well. i am sitting it out .. but what brings us back to the subject, rather a broken marketplace than no marketplace at all - still glad for the items that are working.

The difference surely wouldn't pay well for the time spent creating Marketplace listings. Not so. Much, if not most of the items on the SLM would be cost-prohibitive to sell in-world, and the demand for low-end and component level items would plummet. With the SLM, you can quickly find thousands of similar items, but if you had to track them down in-world to compare them, it would take so long that a lot of stuff, people just wouldn't even bother to look at, much less buy. yup

I worked for one of the (now defunct) competitors to XStreet SL after LL bought it out. I can tell you that it's not an overnight development exercise, and the one feature that MP has that no other virtual goods sales site will ever have is ... Direct Transfer of In-World Funds for Purchases. Any competitor must still employ an Escrow Account type arrangement that provides methods for both depositing and withdrawing L$ funds. LL does not have that restriction because they can tap directly into the current balance and transfer funds directly as well. In my mind, that boondoggle of transferring funds to/from an Escrow account is the death knell for anyone attempting to start a competitive site. When you toss in the lack of trust people have in ALL those type sites now, it would be a delightfully tiring exercise in waste ... waste of time, waste of effort and eventually waste of a good idea. IMHO i agree

The difference surely wouldn't pay well for the time spent creating Marketplace listings. Of course, as long as there's a Marketplace, no matter how dreadful, competitors will use it, so there's little choice if one cares about sales (silly, but some take longer to catch on). hm, but i think too many marketplace purchases are impulse purchases and in world sales wouldn't match up at all... with the effort, time and lag that you have to deal with in world. sales would go down overall IMO. at least i wouldn't buy a quarter of what i do with marketplace, probably even less than a quarter and i know i am not that unique.. not sure how it would effect the linden market, more people would probably rent land again ...
  11. yes, a LOT faster! it was a good move to get that resolved. it was such a pain to load the pages that it just added anger to everything else that is going on.. or not.
  12. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/listing_guidelines#listing-guidelines Disallowed Actions .... Non-Item Listings...... The SL Marketplace is also not to be used for Dispensing catalogs or information regarding a service without actually charging at least 50% of the value of that service. _______________________________________________________________________________________ is that what you mean? not 100% sure but it sounds like if you cannot charge 50% in your listing right away because for example you cannot be sure how long the service will be used, then you aren't allowed to list it? anyone else?
  13. yay \O/ to each marketplace sale.. better than nothing! not sure how sales would look if all would depend on in world only, marketplace still seems to take a huge percentage of my total sales. a few more IMs to answer too lately but what the hell.. i still do a 100% of my purchases through marketplace.
  14. definitely love it! probably not going to buy non-mesh clothes anymore in the future. i don't mind wearing the alpha layers either. <3

Ilyra Chardin wrote: Paula001 Goldschein wrote: further i don't agree with llyra (exception!), personally i don't like the no refunds comment. to me it sounds like you cannot talk to the merchant about issues in general and it makes me feel unwelcome right away. They don't have to put that in their store policies that they do not give refunds for full perm item purchases, but if they have no intention of ever giving a refund for full perm items, I think it's best to state that up front. Just my opinion. hmmm yes true
  16. my merchant hero of the day! i never could make myself to go through all that, altthough my updates are more like double value of the items and not be send out for free. and i might as well leave a little work for the IRS, i believe it is called in ae
  17. have you checked the destination guide for your venue? i remember when applying myself, i have heard nothing either. also had a visitor tracker up back then and no lindens have visited. a few days later i was wondering why there were so many noobies around all the sudden and then it dawned on me and yep, there it was! in the destination guide, totally neat!
  18. ufff, your post should come with a warning. you are playing in different fields, a pamela enhancement could pay back triple with a single sale a month, while our op girl would have to sell a lot of dresses to even roll back the costs. i think that is the profit death of many merchants. faye keep your costs as low as possible, marketplace enhancements are not worth anything in my opinion unless you sell exclusive items for a fashionable price. edited: my opinion was different in xstreet times, enhancements were worth it and @ faye, yes i also try to avoid creating new listings after an update or such
  19. iCade wrote: Wow at some of the responses to my simple question well you made a good point without trying, enjoy lol!
  20. hi pamela! only read you so far. i admire your attitude, i have 3 creators on the tip of my tounge i thought of when reading your post, recalling reviews left on the items as well. i usually pray, god let things go well so i can keep buying things of them lol.
  21. are merchants harder to please as customers? when being on the customer side of a sale in sl and things go wrong, i expect the same standard of customer service that i provide myself as a merchant. i quit stores easily, a simple non-reply can do it, a lack of goodwill as well. they could launch the neatest of things, i would not buy from them again. when it comes to rl, i am a tough customer too, close employed people around me do not understand my nitpicking attitude, the self-employed crowd, which is mostly family though does. how about you? sl, rl .. i would love to hear more opinions edited: don't want it to sound all bad - the other part of being a tough customer is that i get extremely hooked on certain merchants/creators once i feel being in good hands
  22. haha what's wrong with being a loser? we are all losers at least in one aspect of life.. the one setting aside 2,4k for taking some friggin pics seems to be at least stable financial wise.
  23. the only thing i can contribute is that i have a strong feeling that the 'age' of a listing is a very big deal. from my experience the older the listing is, the better it 'sticks' in search after being purchased. i thought i would let you know what i have experienced since you said you noticed that your older items sell better.
