    I'm not Scylla, but I disagree.  Many people only dress for themselves.  To say we (general we) choose our styles only to attract someone else actually takes away our choice and autonomy.  There are days I will dress up at home knowing I am not leaving the house at all.  No one will be seeing me and I'm not doing it to fantasize about what someone else may think either.  I dress up for me.  Another example:  I never get home from my RL job clean, put together and smelling nice. Never.  I rarely even get home from work without new bruises and scratches.  When others see me, I know they are not thinking, "Gee what a sexy woman."  I can still feel pretty.  I can still feel powerful.  I can still feel strong.  I can still feel sexy.  If someone were to capture that look in a photo, I imagine, to me, that would feel sexy.

    Sexy is different to different people.  Sexy to me is being comfortable and confident with yourself.  Sexy has little to do with how strangers see you, but how you see yourself.

    Thank you for bringing out this response from me.  I have the start of a photo idea for this thread.

    I agree with you Cinnamon. There are people who dress for themselves. That is why we use the term "self-esteem instead of "others-esteem". A person is never really sexy for others until they understand how they are sexy for themselves. Sexiness is confidence. Confidence must be built, practiced and defined well. There are no rules, no definitions...it is a mood, a vibe, a word.. ..like spicy.  Spicy to me is ... a great pair of designer shades, a transparent top, comfy bottom, red sneaks, and a nice glass of wine.

    They have other voting stations now. Ones where you can vote for each individual song and the DJ with the most scoring songs wins... (it is a kinda perverted system, as they do not want feedback, they want to go into highscore, as more folks check out the club with the top DJs)

    "Vote, Vote, Vote" is almost as common as  "show some Linden loveing" today ...

    SL Nightclub Community we need some clubbing innovation.

    Had a break in 2011 and in the period 2013 - 2016 SL was a glorified chatbox for me, where I did nothing more than chatting every now and then with old friends and no real  adjustments to my avie or any pictures :)

    I think it is fascinating how we all pretty much have stayed with the same look.  I love the ownership of our avatars.

    I love this thread.  I was taking one of my breaks in 2011, so didn't see this back then.  I'll have to pull pics tonight when I get off work.

    There sure are a lot of people from the 2011 posts that are either no longer in SL or at least not active on the forums anymore.

    Yes, I think you are right.  It would be nice to see some new residents show how they are progressing.  We old residents came through alot of bad hair days and ill-fitting stuff to get to where we are now. I wonder what are their improvements.

  5. It would be great if this thread came back to life.  I posted in here I believe way back in 2011 and goodness I am still here in SL seven years later.  Here is my evolution now up to date.  I have tried to keep the same face sometimes I got lost in it all but as of today I am happy now with my evolution to my full mesh representation of me.

  6. Rolig Loon;

    We you say "WE" are not supposed to reference creators or specific products in Answers?  Are you saying as  a Resident not as a Helper I cannot give my personal endorsement? Or call reference to a particular product?  And if so, will you point me to the rules for the forums because they are not available to when I log in or anywhere within the platform.

  7. While I am no authority on Second Life Business Ethics, I have an opinion that this is wrong.
    Years ago this was a problem and Linden Labs made some adjustments to how traffic would be calculated to counteract this type of unethical merchant behavior.  Possibly this is an ongoing issue that the Lindens deal with behind the scenes and eventually they bots are identified and disabled.

  8. Well Aquamarine;

    You pose a question that is hard to answer.  The only little pixie shape I know of in the Marketplace is:

    [Mesh] =^.^= Curious Kitties Unreal Fuzz - Kittenz Milnne Elf Avatar

    It is 50% the size of a normal Avatar which qualifies as little.  Its in the marketplace.  But its an elf not a fairy but to me it has a very pixie like face:  LOL

  9. Whoa!!! slow down Peter don't be so quick to get emotional and argumentative.

    You had made the statement that there is no way for sellers to know if an item had been delivered or not implying there was no mechanism to attest to this which is not true.  I was pointing out there is a system that confirms whether an item is delivered or not delivered.  I am a seller and have seen sometimes that an item did not get delivered. The point of contention here is really in the reliability of that system.

    Your bias against the Marketplace is quite apparent.  I do not use vendors that provide detailed sales options in-world.  So I would not say that in-world transactions are more reliable, faster or easier to verify comparative to the Marketplace.

    I will agree with you that a seller does lose the amount of commission LL charges for Marketplace transactions in a refund situation but in business that is a negotiable lost, in other words a natural cost expected in doing business.  Especially, when offset by the benefit of the free advertising.

    I am really sympathetic to what has happened to Farthington.

  10. I think the lay-offs you are referring to happened over a year ago.  I believe Linden Labs is surviving.

    With any investment there is always risk, and Second Life is not exempted.  If you believe that there maybe some deviations in the future that will run in conflict with your expected return from Second Life then you should act.  But this is a highly personal decision that really can't be answered by anyone but yourself.  There are no guarantees or warranties that are given or implied with any of the monies transacted in Second Life.

  11. This is something that has happened to me more than once, phone calls where made to LL but no good explanation came forth.  I have since reasoned it is a glitch in the system.  What I did to forever correct this problem was to isolate one owner to the group that was the only person with the ability to pay group liabilities.  Alts should be put into a similar title that have all the abilities except paying group liabilities.

    It is kind of a hassle and although you are not listing in the search you have a role that is allowing for a split of liabilites among multiple alts and i believe that triggers the fee.

    I hope this helps...

  12. I think I know exactly what has happened as you say you were building quite possibly you have dropped your AO somewhere on the ground near where you were building.  Hence, it would still control your movements while not being attached to you.  To test this move to another sim and see if you continue animating.  If no then go back to the where you were building, if you begin to animate again your AO is on the ground.  To locate set TRANSPARENCY TO HIGHLIGHT and it will glow RED.

    Hope this helps...

  14. This is a real unfortunate situation.  There is no complaint process for this.  $L 2000 is a substantial amount of money I can only suggest that you wait for them to contact you for additional rent and  then once you have their attention express your dissatisfaction. Although it is difficult to really enjoy the property without certain permissions try as much as possible to enjoy what is available.  It might be a good thing to start looking around for a new place as well.

  15. For those who would lke to just share a picture with someone temporarily or preview how the image will look inworld without having to pay the fee.   There is the temporary image option that is free as well.  Images that are uploaded temporarily cannot be given away nor placed on a prim permanently.
