  1. Avastar is a blender plugin. It also costs $30...
  2. Where would I get the male and female figures to import into daz?
  3. If I can't animate in Maya for whatever reason, what program is recommended? Qavimator doesn't make a lot of sense to me (it doesn't have an undo function?) and blender is, well, blender. Is there anything that works like Maya?

    Maya help

I know this isn't the right forum, but people in the animation forum don't seem familiar with Maya and I was told there are Maya users here. When I export animations made in Maya to second life, the rotations end up on the wrong axes. Rotating Z seems to end up rotating X in-world, and rotating X rotates Y. What can I do to fix this?
  5. I'm trying to animate in maya and using the exporter (version 5) found here: http://circle.twu.net/progs/ When I preview my animation in secondlife, which axis is rotating seems to be messed up? I've tried changing the rotate order in the exporter since that seems like the right thing to do, but the only thing that happened is that secondlife couldn't read my file. How do I fix this?
  6. what's the best software to use to make secondlife animations that has the ability to resize the skeleton to make the animation work properly on a chibi avatar, or preferably even the ability to import an SL shape somehow? i'm used to animating in maya, so if there's a way to do it in maya, that's be great, or something that works very much like maya. thanks!
  7. I tried to change my password in order to update my inventory on the beta grid, but it's been probably 2 weeks now and my password still hasn't updated, let alone my inventory. It works fine on the site, but when I try to log in on the grid, it still uses my old password. Did I do it wrong somehow? Edit: It doesn't even accept the new password, though. Shouldn't it at least do that?
  8. Where is the blender option? I can't seem to find it. Because, I mean, I have blender, I just don't like it very much... If that's what it takes to make my model export correctly, I'll just import it into blender and export it from there. (Looking at the file, that does seem to be the problem.) edit: never mind, it was added in 2.64 and i'm running 2.62. i'll install the correct version, that'll probably help. edit again: it wooooorked!
  9. yeah, there are. what's the export option in blender? maybe i can find the equivalent in maya... edit: i think i might have done what you said but it still doesn't work...
  10. I just remembered that I have a screenshot of the medium LOD... so here that is, at least.
  11. I made a mesh in Maya, complete with LODs, exported them individually like I'm supposed to, but then when I try to import them into secondlife, they're just... a complete mess! I can't even describe it. I'll upload a screenshot when I get home (I'm typing this from school, which doesn't have secondlife installed!) but with just "it's completely screwed up" to go on, does anyone have any suggestions?
  12. Is there a child avatar model somewhere like the adult one for making/rigging clothing? Thanks.
  13. i'm not exactly experienced in making avatars, but i wanted to know if there's a tutorial somewhere about what you need to know in order to make a feral avatar. i understand how building works and i know how to make an animation and although i'm not very experienced in LSL, i do know how to program... and i know it's an ambitious project, i just want to know what sort of information is out there. thanks! (reposted from the forums, since it made more sense to post it here) edit: not all feral avatars are meshes...
  14. i'm running 64-bit debian (if you need more info, i can give it but i'll have to reboot first) and i want a viewer that supports mesh! phoenix, firestorm, and viewer 2 all say i have to use 32-bit linux or else install some stuff, but when i went to install the packages they didn't actually exist... are there any viewers that support mesh that DON'T need me to do that? or what do i need to do to get it working? imprudence works, but it doesn't seem to support mesh... plus, when i start it, it complains about my graphics card even though i know it's just fine (i have the proper drivers installed, and it works in windows) so i don't even know what's up with that... help? (edited because i can't type, apparently) edit: i don't think imprudence supports meshes...
